[rom] cm7 pffmod - Motorola Droid Android Development

Original thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996726
the author of this mod was gracious enough to submit it to the CM gerrit, so I have pulled those changes (http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,4055 and http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,4056) into my own builds.
I have tested this with several apps that use ads, and it works flawlessly.
builds can be found at http://xdafiles.net/rhcp/

This is a quick thread for those looking for the latest community 'unofficial' nightly builds. The buildbot seems to be having issues transferring the nightlys to the mirrors, so being the junkies we are, I was also going through flash withdrawl. It took me a few days, and a lot of help from Sodikop, but we now have a dev box that can churn out nightlys. The process is completely manual, but I will keep up with it as I can. Hey, when you want something done right, you do it yourself! haha!
Much respect to Cyanogen, Darchstar, and anyone else who contributed to such a great ROM.

CyanogenMod is a free, community built distribution of Android 2.2 (Froyo) which greatly extends the capabilities of your phone.
This version is a release candidate, but you will find it stable for everyday use.
Code:
*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* The CM team is not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, you getting fired because the alarm app failed, or anything whatsoever.
* Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*
This is an AOSP-based build with extra contributions from many people which you can use without any type of Google applications. I found a link from some other project that can be used to restore the Google parts, which can be found below or elsewhere in the thread. I've still included the various hardware-specific code, which seems to be slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Visit the CHANGELOG for a full list of changes and features!
All source code is available at the CyanogenMod Github! Send pull requests with your changes!
INSTRUCTIONS:
- First time flashing CM 6 (or coming from another ROM)?
1. Unlock/root your device - http://forum.xda-develop.....php?t=753910
2. Do a Nandroid backup!
3. Update your radio if necessary
4. WIPE
5. Install the ROM
5. Optionally install the Google Addon
- Upgrading from earlier CM6?
1. Do a Nandroid Backup!
2. Install the ROM (your Google apps will be backed up automatically)
HOW TO REPORT BUGS OR PROBLEMS?
- Was it a hard reboot? Get me the file "/proc/last_kmsg".
- Was it a soft reboot or a "boot loop"? Run "adb logcat" and get me the full output.
- Pastebin links preferred

Can I suggest you pull the source code at approximately 8pm ET, like the official nightly builds? That way there's no confusion as to exactly which nightly build you're trying to reproduce.
New build completed at 1800. I removed the other one to avoid confusion. If you downloaded the other one, I would get this one, seems there was a lot of work to make it vs. the previous one. I also am going to include the md5 with each download file.
Try the newest one, and let me know what you guys think...
The link is easy to remember, nothing cryptic www.mediafire.com/stramondroid
I will try a pull again later, but if you look at the filenames, I am time stamping them now as well. So you can figure out which is which....
Enjoy!

Whats new in this ROM?
Ahhhhh very nice
It might not change things and you might still need to use this but I did see a post in the regular nightlies thread from darchstar (yes, the man himself!) that he has talked to the powers that be at #teamdouche and they are fixing the nightlies so they load correctly. I guess we will see tonight...
I dont know the difference here but I have tried just about every nightly and have been disappointed. I have been flashing roms for over 2 years and know the difference between placebo and a decent rom. So far I am liking this one. Still needs work but has definitely hit the pleasure nerve and I will continue to use and see if it starts lagging over time like the nightlies. Thanks OP.

What does this mean exactly ? its updated nightly ? or ... haha
a nightly-build contains all the newest changes which come step-by-step.
all the changes will be offered in a new release candidate if there are stable and harmonize.
so if you always want the newest fixes, patches and so on..you have to flash the nightly-builds. but there is no guarantee that it is stable.
if you want a stable build you have to wait for the rc
sorry for my bad english

Team Douche do work on the rom every day. You can see what commitments they make to the code on the git hub. Every night an automated build bot compiles the code into a flashable rom. As stated in the op, these are experimental builds which add new features but may be quite buggy. In my experience with the nexus one they are usually very stable apart from the odd annoying glitch.
Most importantly for bleeding edge lovers like myself you get to check out new features before, often weeks before, people using the stable branch.

But, now Cyanogen has got all organised, at this stage in the cycle i.e prior to release of the stable version it tends to mainly be bug-fixes rather than additional features so in my experience these late nightly release are often better than the RC's on which they are based

Is it just me (do those apps fall under the Google stuff mentioned earlier? And is it possible to get my contacts from leedroid (just switched after full wipe) also would it help if I flashed the "normal" CM and install the nighty Rom s update ?Anyone can help me? yup market, gmail, maps etc come under the GAPPS package which you have to flash after flashing cyanogen mod.
If you sync your contacts to your gmail then it should be restored after entering your account details with the new rom
And it doesn't matter if you install the normal CM and then install the nightly, you can just jump straight into the nightly if you want. As previously stated, normal is a stable release whereas nightly is untested but usually stable.

yes you need to get the google addons for theDHD its HDPI-20101114
http://goo-inside.me/google-apps/
but if you downloaded the rom from rom manger it asks you if you want the google add-ons after the rom as well.
when you install google add-ons sould get your contacts back
only need to do full wipe if you coming from a different rom, eg leedroids rom, if already using CM 6.1 rc2 or rc1 just need to flash the nightly over it.
Thx a lot you both saved my day

[Rom] EXPERIMENTAL AOSP Gingerbread for CDMA Desire *New Build 12/27 w/ GPS*

All I have done here is compiled gingerbread from source by following the guide in the cyanogenmod wiki. I am not developing this, just compiling.
Odd_Sam said it best: "Just so everyone understands, this is a rom based off the developmental source code of CyanogenMod 7. OP is not a developer and has no plans to fix any issues that come up. This is more or less a sneak preview of CM 7. OP is just compiling the public source code for CM 7. Treat these "releases" as a "nightly" build. And just for clarification these builds will be experimental so do not report bugs in this thread or anywhere else. CM devs know what does and does not work."
3d acceleration, video camera and network location do not work.
Grab it here: http://ipfreelytech.net/android/update-cm-7-BravoC-1222710-gps.zip
google apps: http://ipfreelytech.net/android/gingerbread-gapps-hdpi-20101221.zip
it seems that its closer to AOSP than CM at this point, while I compiled it with the cyanogen bits, it seems there aren't many cyanogen commits for gingerbread yet, so things like the power control widgets in the notification bar and the cyanogenmod settings menu are missing.
The 3d acceleration is due to a missing library and will likely not be fixed until after the N1 gingerbread OTA drops.
I haven't posted any newer builds because there is more stuff broken compared to this build.
Nice, thanks, will try it right now marry Christmas
looking through the rom, it seems that its closer to AOSP than it CM at this point, while I compiled it with the cyanogen bits, it seems there simply aren't many cyanogen commits for gingerbread yet, so things like the power control widgets in the notification bar and the cyanogenmod settings menu are missing.
installing google apps results in boot loop.
you gonna make one for GSM Desire ?
I do not have a gsm desire for testing, and secondly there are ALREADY gingerbread roms for the gsm desire. I mainly did this because I was tired of CDMA being left out of the gingerbread fun.
if you want gingerbread on your GSM desire go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829734
if you want to you can do a build yourself the way I did, I followed this guide: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Compile_CyanogenMod_for_Bravo
when you do the repo init change -b froyo to -b gingerbread

Great work,
So cynogen is back with boom on Xmas.

you GSM users are not missing anything. While I built this as a CM build, at this point its pretty much straight AOSP. besides the boot logo the only thing cyanogen about it is the kernel. I changed the thread title to better reflect that.
I am familiar with compiling cyanogenmod, never tried doing straight AOSP and couldn't find a guide, so thats why the build is as it is.
The cdma crowd had nothing at all in the way of a gingerbread rom posted here or elsewhere i could find on the internets.
You are doing awesome bud even trying to bring something together for the cdma crowd bro! You need to add IN BIG letters on the thread post, NOT FOR GSM YOU HAVE YOUR OWN, ****ERS!!!!!!!! LMFAO!!!!!!!

Thanks, downloading now.
CM 7
Great work with the update! I couldn't get my contacts to sync. I attempted to import the contacts in vCard to no avail. I didn't play around with it much but look forward to future updates. Happy holidays!
i was trying to figure out how to attempt this.......glad to see someone dev for cdma.
Thanks for trying tip bring us a new rom,i wish others devs would do so too, what we cdma guys only have have 3 roms at the moment and the are all based on CM I believe. I would like to see oxygen and or villain ports to cdma
Just saying lol
Good to see the CDMA Desire get a gingerbread ROM.
I felt like I was getting left out :O
Question though.... are you going to be fixing the issues like 3D Acceleration, or did you just compile this?
So just so everyone understands, this is a rom based off the developmental source code of CyanogenMod 7. OP is not a developer and has no plans to fix any issues that come up. Thank you, I tried very hard to get that point across, but I suspect people don't always read everything. Nightly is exactly what they are, every night I sync the repo and build.
Edited the OP to include a quote of your post.

Are you compiling this on 32 bit or 64 bit?

Is there a thread for the official CM 10.1?

I saw a thread somewhere else on here that CM has official support for the XT926. I put the 8/4 nightly on the other day and it's real nice! Haven't had a single hiccup with it yet and it's fast and smooth. Battery life is easily as good as stock, but haven't had it on long enough to say for sure yet, definitely not worse. I'm running Apex Launcher on it as well.
Links to nightlys: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=xt926&type=nightly
Link at CM page: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Xt926_Info
Anyone else running this?
I don't mean this thread as any disrespect to the CM build I see epinter has out or his team that is working on it, but I'm just asking because I'm not sure if this is the same ROM that they are working on as the download links are different.

I don't believe there's a specific thread to the official nightlys, but most of the listed devs are active on the Epinter CM10.1 thread in the RAZR HD Android Development subforum. I haven't found a specific place for bug reports though, which is too bad because I tried out the first 3 official nightlys but had to go back to a 4.1.2-based ROM due the severity of bugs I encountered.

Yeah, it looks like active conversations run on Epinter thread. It's a pity we cannot post there due having few posts on count.
I was running 07/02 Epinter build, coming from July's Dhacker then turned to 08/03 Epinter that was running fine, everything working great. My only con is that GPS brakes after a PC USB connection that's temporary cured after cache/dalvik wipes and fix permissions.
I'm now with Official 08/09 and everything's fine.

[ROM][D850]CyanogenMod 11 OFFICIAL Nightlies [4.4.4 KitKat]

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 5.0, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Code:
#include
/Your warranty is now void!
/I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war,
/or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research
/if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it!
/YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at
/me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
/[B]Submitting bug reports on nightly builds is the leading cause of male impotence[/B].
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Bug Reports: How to report a bug?
Check post #2 to see if it has been reported.
Search thread first or at least attempt to. Yes, we all know XDA can be difficult to search but try to search this thread only first.
If you have issues and have used TiBu or any other app restore program then perform a clean install without restoring apps to see if you can replicate before reporting.
List the following info: ROM build date, what you were doing and can you replicate it.
Get a logcat if possible.

Google Apps: Optional add on package that allows Google Play services such as Google Play Store and other Google Apps outside of AOSP based ROMs.

Congrats on being official!
Mind opening up the Q&A? There's no Q&A tab yet.

I dont think so. CM skips nightlies for some reason, not sure why. Hopefully we will see one tonight or tomorrow night at the latest.

This is stable enough for me to use as an everyday (12/6 nightly). Will OTA update list show when an official stable version releases? Will I be able to update CM versions OTA using the update feature in settings? Great work last CM i used was CM 7 for my HTC One X hahaha:good::good:

tonight it is... 20141209 is there :good:
Camera quality seems to be great on CM11. I tested this next to a stock Verizon G3 and the only difference I noticed between the 2 would be the color temperature. One macro image I took with both was noticeably better on the one with CM11.
so does the laser auto focus still seem to function correctly with this?
is there any real way to verify that it is working except supposed time to capture image by estimation
Best flashed rom yet... Tried Liquid Smooth and ran into a bunch of different issues and wanted something more stable. This runs fast and smooth, no issues as of yet. Wish the LG quick remote would one day work on this rom. Thanks for posting!
