[Rom] EXPERIMENTAL AOSP Gingerbread for CDMA Desire *New Build 12/27 w/ GPS* - Desire Android Development

All I have done here is compiled gingerbread from source by following the guide in the cyanogenmod wiki. I am not developing this, just compiling.
Odd_Sam said it best: "Just so everyone understands, this is a rom based off the developmental source code of CyanogenMod 7. OP is not a developer and has no plans to fix any issues that come up. This is more or less a sneak preview of CM 7. OP is just compiling the public source code for CM 7. Treat these "releases" as a "nightly" build. And just for clarification these builds will be experimental so do not report bugs in this thread or anywhere else. CM devs know what does and does not work."
3d acceleration, video camera and network location do not work.
Grab it here: http://ipfreelytech.net/android/update-cm-7-BravoC-1222710-gps.zip
google apps: http://ipfreelytech.net/android/gingerbread-gapps-hdpi-20101221.zip
it seems that its closer to AOSP than CM at this point, while I compiled it with the cyanogen bits, it seems there aren't many cyanogen commits for gingerbread yet, so things like the power control widgets in the notification bar and the cyanogenmod settings menu are missing.
The 3d acceleration is due to a missing library and will likely not be fixed until after the N1 gingerbread OTA drops.
I haven't posted any newer builds because there is more stuff broken compared to this build.

Nice, thanks, will try it right now marry Christmas

looking through the rom, it seems that its closer to AOSP than it CM at this point, while I compiled it with the cyanogen bits, it seems there simply aren't many cyanogen commits for gingerbread yet, so things like the power control widgets in the notification bar and the cyanogenmod settings menu are missing.
installing google apps results in boot loop.

you gonna make one for GSM Desire ?

I do not have a gsm desire for testing, and secondly there are ALREADY gingerbread roms for the gsm desire. I mainly did this because I was tired of CDMA being left out of the gingerbread fun.
if you want gingerbread on your GSM desire go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829734
if you want to you can do a build yourself the way I did, I followed this guide: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Compile_CyanogenMod_for_Bravo
when you do the repo init change -b froyo to -b gingerbread

bah, I wanted cyanogen gingerbread for gsm

Great work,
So cynogen is back with boom on Xmas.
Sent from my HTC Desire

you GSM users are not missing anything. While I built this as a CM build, at this point its pretty much straight AOSP. besides the boot logo the only thing cyanogen about it is the kernel. I changed the thread title to better reflect that.
I am familiar with compiling cyanogenmod, never tried doing straight AOSP and couldn't find a guide, so thats why the build is as it is.
The cdma crowd had nothing at all in the way of a gingerbread rom posted here or elsewhere i could find on the internets.

You are doing awesome bud even trying to bring something together for the cdma crowd bro! You need to add IN BIG letters on the thread post, NOT FOR GSM YOU HAVE YOUR OWN, ****ERS!!!!!!!! LMFAO!!!!!!!
Merry Christmas every body!!!!!!

Great work, thanks and Merry Christmas!

Gingerbread
Thanks, downloading now.

CM 7
Great work with the update! I couldn't get my contacts to sync. I attempted to import the contacts in vCard to no avail. I didn't play around with it much but look forward to future updates. Happy holidays!

i was trying to figure out how to attempt this.......glad to see someone dev for cdma.

Thanks for trying tip bring us a new rom,i wish others devs would do so too, what we cdma guys only have have 3 roms at the moment and the are all based on CM I believe. I would like to see oxygen and or villain ports to cdma
Just saying lol

Good to see the CDMA Desire get a gingerbread ROM.
I felt like I was getting left out :O
Question though.... are you going to be fixing the issues like 3D Acceleration, or did you just compile this?

So just so everyone understands, this is a rom based off the developmental source code of CyanogenMod 7. CM devs know what does and does not work.

Thank you, I tried very hard to get that point across, but I suspect people don't always read everything. Nightly is exactly what they are, every night I sync the repo and build.
Edited the OP to include a quote of your post.

What does this mean exactly ? its updated nightly ? or ... haha
a nightly-build contains all the newest changes which come step-by-step.
all the changes will be offered in a new release candidate if there are stable and harmonize.
so if you always want the newest fixes, patches and so on..you have to flash the nightly-builds. but there is no guarantee that it is stable.
if you want a stable build you have to wait for the rc
sorry for my bad english

Team Douche do work on the rom every day. You can see what commitments they make to the code on the git hub. Every night an automated build bot compiles the code into a flashable rom. As stated in the op, these are experimental builds which add new features but may be quite buggy. In my experience with the nexus one they are usually very stable apart from the odd annoying glitch.
Most importantly for bleeding edge lovers like myself you get to check out new features before, often weeks before, people using the stable branch.

But, now Cyanogen has got all organised, at this stage in the cycle i.e prior to release of the stable version it tends to mainly be bug-fixes rather than additional features so in my experience these late nightly release are often better than the RC's on which they are based

hi i'm new to Android and have a few questions. Just flashed this rom and it looked amazing except that I didn't have market or any other apps. Is it just me (do those apps fall under the Google stuff mentioned earlier? And is it possible to get my contacts from leedroid (just switched after full wipe) also would it help if I flashed the "normal" CM and install the nighty Rom s update ?Anyone can help me? Thx in advance

yup market, gmail, maps etc come under the GAPPS package which you have to flash after flashing cyanogen mod.
If you sync your contacts to your gmail then it should be restored after entering your account details with the new rom
And it doesn't matter if you install the normal CM and then install the nightly, you can just jump straight into the nightly if you want. As previously stated, normal is a stable release whereas nightly is untested but usually stable.

yes you need to get the google addons for theDHD its HDPI-20101114
http://goo-inside.me/google-apps/
but if you downloaded the rom from rom manger it asks you if you want the google add-ons after the rom as well.
when you install google add-ons sould get your contacts back
only need to do full wipe if you coming from a different rom, eg leedroids rom, if already using CM 6.1 rc2 or rc1 just need to flash the nightly over it.
Thx a lot you both saved my day

So any one care to comment what extra feature or u got repair on this NB ? Cop are to the RC

[Brainstorm/REQ] Porting CM6 to XT720

Greeting guys,
The guys at Milestone & Droid's forum had successfully ported CM7 to their phone. Due to the locked bootloader and no official froyo update, the lease we can do is porting CM6 to our phone.
Due to my limited experience on rom cooking, i would like to seek guide and help from the experts. thank you.
Build from source: http://android.doshaska.net/cm6build
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Compile_CyanogenMod_for_Sholes
Wiki page: https://www.droid-developers.org/
I saw a video of it in youtube for the milestone. This would be cool if someone could make this work for our phone and it would be stable. I like the time and effort that is put into these froyo builds, but they are not stable like eclair.

Dexter 1.3 vanilla and Dexter 1.3 with bugfix v2 and 3 is rock solid here, so dunno what you're talking about.
IMHO, If you just want a stable ROM,we should give our devs some time so they can iron out the issues-in-hand. They're not working with team as CM guys, so please be patient.
But on the other hand, you're a great big fan of CM and currently stuck with XT which can't get CM out of the box, you may try.

Getting an unofficial CM on XT720 is my ultimate goal, but I don't know how to do it yet. I'm learning about Android by fixing bugs/tweaking Dexter's ROM.
I pulled the CM6 sources and tried to build and follow the instructions on nadlabak's website. It seems like CM6 hasn't been built in a while so there are some bit-rot problems. For example it can't pull down the rom-manager stuff. I don't know if we need that or not. We don't (yet?) have rom-manager for XT720. Then there's the issue of the proprietary files. The proprietary files that need to be saved for Milestone (nadlabak's extract-files.sh script) doesn't match the files on XT720. So we'll have to work that out as well.

I think they use Androidiani Open recover instead of Rom Manager on Milestone's CM.

[10-11-11][ROM] gingerbread-hero-deck [1.3][2.3.7][Stable]

Hey all. Been a while since my last release of anything, which was sense based, but I really wanted to start learning android and have a better perspective of it. I decided to dig a bit more into compiling android. Started horsing around with github and learned to start compiling my own builds from aosp wih the help from cmsrc, evervolv, and a few others githubs. Since the release of gingerbread to aosp, i moved away from sense. There are things that i do miss about sense, but the usability of the phone without it is just unmatched imho. Many people use or have used cyanogenmod. IMHO is a great open source project that has some of the best devs out there. I have always been more into the 'vanilla' look opposed to the themed and aftermarket. Recently i have been compiling gingerbread for the evo and mt4g and have had nothing but the best reviews. Basically the reason why i am here. Wondering if there was any interest in a few of my builds. Main reason from moving away from CM6/7 (cyanogenmod), ADW launcher and the extra added bloat(sorry) and themes. Battery life will always be one of my main concerns. Everything should work!

1.3 build is based off 2.3.7. (Thanks cm team) and cm kernel 2.6.x (thanks cm team).

not really its a stripped down full featured cm7 build with better battery life and some of the gruff removed (cm wallpapers and a few others taken out) its around the range of what aosp was doing
Just flashed this. I'm loving that all these roms are popping up for the Hero since I've probably got another year before I can switch to a different phone. I've been wanting to get away from CM7 and so far this rom seems like a winner. I was loving asopmod for froyo and would love to get back to something that works just as good as that. Had some little issues with CM7 and I'm not really into all the extra stuff they add.

Its so funny, I guess those of us with kids will be giving our hand-me-downs to them. I gave my Heroc to my daughter when I got my Evo. Too bad she won't get the Evo though, as I am upgrading to the Evo 3D soon, and need to sell the Evo to cover the cost. I'm sure glad there are some awesome ROMs like this one to keep the Heroc relevant. My daughter is quite happy, and frankly, I'm impressed! ;-)

As dumb as it sounds, this is exactly why I've stayed with 2.1. And I've stayed with nFinite's Stock release (cleaned up a bit) because of the unmatched battery duration. My interest is piqued

you can get rid of the phantom voicemail by using Go SMS Pro and blacklisting it..
vvm has worked for me in all AOSP ROMs ..
I am currently on Aosp 5/21, using firerats 100 15, cw mod 3xxx. Wiped everything. Would not leave the htc boot screen. Suggestions. Everything was wiped and followed procedures in op

Yes VVM has worked, and yes you can blacklist a number. But blacklisting doesn't stop notifications that several texts were missed, which can't be viewed because it's blacklisted. GoSMS gives you the additional option to view blacklisted messages, which will finally get rid of the notification. But now you're manually checking a VVM text, which has completely defeated the purpose of blacklisting it in the 1st place. This proved to be enough of an annoyance to return to a modified Stock ROM.
This was my experience with CM6. Have tried GoSMS several times but keep coming back to Handcent. If any AOSP has Sprint VVM notifications ignored, thus bypassing the issue above, then I'm all ears.
I tried flashing 'Gapps 5-22-2011 with Voicemail' and got an Installation aborted error message when verifying the update package.
E:Missing file: system/app/BooksPhone.apk
E:Verification failed.
I'm using AmonRA 1.6.2 for recovery.
Edit: Same error with just the plain Gapps in the OP. I ended up flashing a different gapps file and that flashed fine. Finishing up with setting up the phone, so far, so good.

[ROM][06-02-13][Flinny] Andromadus - CM10[133]

Andromadus - Test Builds
To start with here you will find test versions of ROMs built by me from the Andromadus github repo http://github.com/Andromadus, think of them along the same concept as nightly builds just not every night These are development ROM's, if you want to run bleeding edge development ROM's and at least know how to use adb and logcat then you might find something of interest here. If you require something that works 100% of the time all of the time then this might not be for you. That said you can always give it a try and if it doesn't work restore your previous nandroid backup!
What IS Andromadus?
Initially it was a group of people who got together to make ICS work on the HTC Desire Z because nobody else seemed to want to support devices with physical hardware keyboards/trackpads. Whilst the idea stays the same It has grown slightly to support some other hardware and some of the work we have done is now used in many other devices. Andromadus builds of CM10 or CM10.1 are basically CM sources with a few additional tweaks or additions to support our phones.
1. New versions will be added as and when I feel there are enough changes to warrant one, don’t ask when the next version is coming.
2. If we decide to release a "Stable" version of these roms they will be published in another Andromadus thread.
Direct all your queries with release versions to that thread and in the same vain do not discuss these releases anywhere but here.
3. I will do as best I can to answer questions but if you don't get an answer from me I'm sure somebody else will be along to help. Help each other and I have more time to spend fixing things!
4. Don't ask for what's changed since the previous version, have a look at the recent submits on the Andromadus github if you want to know or wait for the mini changelogs when I post a new release.
5. If there is something in particular to test it'll be mentioned!
6. As always if you didn't wipe between installations then at least verify that the problem exists on a clean install before posting here. Nandroid/superwipe/install/check at the end of the day you can always restore your nandroid if the problem is reproducible on a clean installation. If you can't be bothered to try this then I really can't be bothered to try to help you :>
7. All that said ensure you make a nandroid/backup before hand. I take no responsibility for what you do to your phone with these ROM.
8. Whilst I can't stop you I would rather these builds were not used as a base for any ROM/MOD/ETC. The source is all available if you want to do your own builds with which you can do whatever you like.
9. Tell us what works/what's worse/what's better but don't ***** when something breaks or isn't fixed yet, report it and move on.
10. Sometimes people forget that we do this for fun, for ourselves, and sometimes your super important issue is way down on our personal list of things to be fixed.
If you ignore any of the above you will in turn be ignored.
Now that's all out of the way as always have fun
As usual you need to flash the ROM then GAPPS.
Checkout http://andromadus.flinny.org for links/files/previous changelog's
This a team/community effort, I'll not list everyone who has helped along the way here that list is in the beta thread but I will say thanks to all of them again and obviously anyone that has been missed.
Current Version changelog
CM10 build 133
There was an issue with the backup tool in the last build that will break gapps and your account's etc when flashing this build, the solution is to re-flash gapps at the same time as the rom and you should be fine. This build should fix it so that the next build will work as it should
Changes.
Synced with CM - Again not many changes upstream.
Basically everything relevant to our phones up to the 4th of February in the following has been merged

[ROM][AOSP][DEV][WIP][S4] Unofficial OmniROM 4.4 CLOSED!

Why Omni?
Omni is what custom ROMs used to be about – innovation, new features, transparency, community, and freedom. Our goal is to experiment with Android development because we enjoy it. Omni isn’t better, just different. It’s another option for the billion Android users out there. Android (vs. iOS and every other mobile OS) has thrived on options as well as the gigantic, talented development community that has emerged to build those options. That’s the beauty of Android – that you can pick and choose from a smorgasbord of devices with varying features and functionality.
Omni is a chance to get involved, no matter who you are. Developers, whether you’ve been developing apps for a week, or ROM features for 3 years, you’re welcome. Users, we know you want to help out, and now you can – Omni actively encourages bug reports and feature requests, which can be added to our publicly accessible roadmap. What’s the point in giving you a ROM, and forcing you to not tell us about any bugs you find?
We also recognise how people use Custom ROMs – we’re all custom ROM users and developers ourselves – the argument that “nightlies are not for end users” is over-used, and no longer valid. We’ve found that the vast majority of users want to get nightly updates to their ROM. For that reason, nightlies aren’t a playground – nightlies are for new features that are finished. You should be able to expect the same stability and reliability from a nightly as you would from a “release” ROM, and can report any bugs that prevent this from happening.
We know not everyone wants to update their ROM daily, and you are free to update as frequently or infrequently as you like. Omni is about flexibility and giving users what they expect – and we are excited to see where the community goes with it.

HTC evo is a CDMA radio, maybe the process is crashing because we have a GSM radio.

I am looking into the possibility that something in one of the config files is looking for CDMA. However all the ville specific stuff is from CM but edited to use omni sources for the build instead of CM and the msm8960 and s4-common repos that I forked are for all of the HTC S4 based devices regardless of radio support and could have just as easily been forked from CM but required to much editing of the various omni dependencies so I used his stuff.

Well I'm trying anyhow after going through the various dependency files just to double check. I'm hoping it was just a bad build or something so I am pulling down the repo from scratch and hopefully will have a new build in a few hours.

Looking forward to this
And maybe try the 1.20 radio...

Its very possible that formatting the sd card from inside the ROM would solve the problem I was unwilling to try... If I have the time maybe I will but...

I'll will try.
- Lock screen delay is more than on the CM roms?
- If you open an app, and more to another page inside the app, a red square appears around the screen. (if you unlock your phone for example)
The SDcard partition (i think mmpcblk0p36) is not mounted!
A page with the red square issue!

I will check if that's whats missing. I am not sure how to disable strict mode by default since its a setting. Lock screen delay should be the same as cm since its the same kernel.

Strict mode is not enabled so I am not sure what the red box is...I tried to format from inside the rom, that did nothing. All the mount points are correct...so I am looking at other possible causes like recovery etc.
