[Q] Camera picture turns green - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When i try to take a picture with the back camera, the screen turns green and no picture is taken. Used to work fine a couple of days ago
Video works, front camera too.
I have rebooted and resetted my phone, went back to an old nandroid backup and even used odin to reset everything.
Please advise

nobody?
it's so weird that front camera pictures work fine, but only back camera pictures don't.
Looking through it before a picture works fine, it focusses and then the screen turns green.
I've tried erasing all data, stock rom, had the battery out for a while..

Sorry, I had that problem when I put a clear TPU case on my Nexus One. I have a TPU on my Nexus S, but there is enough area between the flash and the case for that not to happen.
Does this happen with/without flash? Any lighting situation? Possibly something on the lense? Hopefully not a hardware failure...

no, i tried a bunch of stuff, lens is clean too.
I'm gonna take it to samsung repair tomorrow, hopefully they will repair it under warranty

i have the same problem. did you ever figure it out?

Nope, just had the camera module repaired / replaced

Faulty Phone or Software Bug? Help.

Hello all,
I've had my HD7 since the day they came out and its been brilliant. However, I think it's now faulty, unless somebody can point me in the right direction.
When I load the camera, all the colours are wrong and I get a kind of circular rainbow effect right in the center. The attached pics show the same image. One is with the flash and one without. One last thing, is the night before today, the same thing happened but a simple restart of the camera app resolved the issue.
Should I just take my device back to the store?
Cheers,
James
Have you tried completely resetting the phone from the settings menu?
Settings > About > Reset Your Phone
You may already know this, but be warned. It WILL completely delete everything on your phone
test post.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I didn't think about doing a full reset, but I guess if it's going to be sent away/replaced then I guess could. Before I do so - can I backup all my contacts and messages? (Music and Photos are done automatically by Zune I see) and Apps, will they get restored as well?
Many thanks, James
I bit the bullet and did a reset. Still same results - I guess it's back to the shop. D'oh.
Thanks again, James.
your lens isn't dirty is it? I've seen some bad pics caused by dirty lens covers...
If only Lens is clean as a whistle. Also, when you cover the lens completely, you're left with a purple/red noise as opposed to a black/grey noise.
If you like, I can upload more pics?
Well, I went to the shop today and they were more than happy to send it away for repair or replacement. Now i've just got live with a nokia 2730 or something rubbish for a week.

[Q] Blurry Camera prob

So... this probably came up here and there - since google is FULL of this problem on skyrocket.
I bought my wife a skyrocket a year ago.
A few weeks later, the pictures started to come out blurry.
I've tried everything - cleaning the lens, reseting the camera settings to defaults, playing with auto-focus, soft reset, hard reset, updating android via kies.
It still came blurry.
One day - it suddenly got sharp again!
We were very pleased, but then, a few weeks later - blurry again.
Since then, we had it twice again, but this time the blurry is here for good.
Front camera is sharp and running.
Does anyone know why is this happening or if there is a solution to the problem?
Thanks!

No.
Will it help? If yes, how so?
I got a used skyrocket (AT&T), it's on stock ICS. The quality of the pictures from that aren't sharp either. I have been searching too.

Just in case, I noticed you didn't mention Anti-Shake. For some reason it is not a default, but easily toggled.
Question: With AF and Auto Flash enabled, If you compose a shot at a distance of 7", does holding the soft Shutter button cause the screen to visible adjust focus and the white rectangle to go green with a confirmation beep?

Thanks for the feedback.
I did try playing with Anti-shake - no luck.
When I hold the soft shutter button, the screen does have the white recrangle, and it goes green before taking the picture.
Nevertheless, the picture, even after the rectangle goes green, is still blurry all along.

Both cameras and flash don't work! Help please!

I'm running Cyanogen Mod cm-12.1-20160310-NIGHTLY
Yesterday, I dropped my phone in a river and, it being advertised as waterproof, didn't worry me too much (NOTE: this was the FIRST time I've ever fully submerged my phone in water). After around 5 minutes, I fished it out and it worked fine after I wiped it off. Today, when I woke up, neither of my cameras worked and my flashlight didn't work either. When I try to turn on the flashlight my phone completely crashes and when I try to use the camera, the app crashes. PLEASE help me as I cannot get a new phone until my exam results come ( around July) and I love taking pictures of everything I do.
Try hard reset. It might not be water damage

try a 3rd party camera app ?
Same thing happened to me when I dropped my phone. It was in a case, but unfortunately while the phone was "protected" with a "rugged" case and matte screen filter, the camera stopped working, which means that maybe a cable got disconnected inside, this has nothing to do with water exposure. I haven't tried looking inside to see if it's something that can be fixed easily, though.
EDIT: Moto G3 XT1540, stock rom rooted with Squid kernel. My camera was working just fine beforehand.
EDIT 2: Well, the two cameras are working after reseating their cables, however DO NOT use a metal screw driver to pry off the screen, use a credit card, as I ended up breaking the screen while trying to repair my own device.
EDIT 3: I would suggest not disassembling your Moto G if you don't feel comfortable doing so.

S6 camera problem

Hello guys
I opened the camera app and there are strange vertical lines going right to left like on the old tvs and even when i take a photo they are still visible. What can be the cause. Can this be caused by water or something? The story is i was heading home when a warer drop dropped on my screen like on the middle of the screen i have a screen protector and i cleaned the screen so i dont think that caused it .

Have you tried the usual like restarting the device? If so and you still have this issue try clearing the cache for the camera app via app manager in settings. If that still doesn't work try a factory reset.

Start the phone in safe mode and open Samsung test menu with *#0*# (if u can't open it u are probably running a custom ROM with no test menu support in it)
Try the camera test in there. If the problem is still there u have a faulty camera.
So my problem is a bit different but it is still a camera problem. So my camera started acting funny a while ago and mos of the time it wouldn't open at all and blocking the front cam from working as well. So i ordered a new camera module online thinking that was the culprit, as the old one made a rattling noise when opening the camera. At last it arrived today so i swapped the cameras only to find the same problem persisting. I have also tried different firmwares and custom roms but still nothing. Does anyone know a cause or a fix for this problem?

Strange about camera

Happened twice now on back camera. After unlocking and went to camera, it cant focus on anywhere. Everything is blurred even if touch the screen to focus near or far.
If i give it a little shake everythings going back to normal. 2 weeks i have this unit and it happened twice. Is it normal or my unit has a defect?
Thank you
Edit.....it only focus near..like macro shots cant focus more than that. Happened after pulling it out of my pocket after a long walk...
Happened to me too on camera mode

I hope someone can answer this...will wait for their opinions.
Have not encountered this. I use my camera heavily.
I advise going to a Samsung service center and letting them debug it.

I read this somewhere that there are some encountering this. They clear camera cache (in which i tried and luckily a good start) or simply tap or a little shake your phone and focus comes back again.
Hope it will not occuer after clearing camera cache

I cleared the cache before I shook it. Didn't help.

My phone do the same. Tap your phone on the side, and focus will be on.
If shaking the phone fixed it the problem is likely a failing ois mechanism. I would swap asap.
