MIDP JAVA for Samsung SGH-I320N

Hi to everybody and excuse me for my poor english. I'm from Italy and I would like to ask you something about my new smartphone, a Samsung Sgh-I320N.
This sp, at least here in Italy, doesn't have a pre-installed midlet manager like htc smartphones and ppc phone edition (intent), so I installed the websphere micro environment (IBM J9).
This midp works well on the phone and infact I'm able to use google maps (it works like a charm!) and to install opera mini browser.
The problem with opera mini is that the two soft-keys are useless and I can't control the functions like "menu" and "back" of the browser.....any suggetion about what could be the solution?
I've already tried to install opera mini for htc tornado, for motorola q and also let the device (using pocket IE) download the best version of this browser but the problem remains

....and off course.....this is the smartphone (brand TIM version)......here in my country it's not very popular yet....

Questions
I like to use my PDA as phone, gps, IE and run a lot of reference applications off the SD card. In view of this should I consider swapping the ROM (cooking?)
If you think yes to this can you advise why please....

if it is xda/o2 branded, then yes.
their roms are horribly slow and don't include anything you can't get elsewhere imo

Yes it is o2 branded, but I'm running it on Orange, can you suggest which ROM? I agree it is very slow compared to my Mini S, but it's thinner and lighter, so not all bad!!

sorry, i have no idea which rom to flash, i don't even know if there are any custom artemis roms, so check in that forum if you haven't already. if none exist, i would check all the sites which sell it rebranded, t-mobile/dopod etc. but they probably won't have any if there are no upgrades.

No ROMs as of now..do not flash any ROM on Orbit or u will lose it...

you should get a CID unlock first from imei-check.co.uk
but I would not upgrade anything till O2 release a rom for the Orbit cause you wont have anything to fall back on otherwise.
BTW the O2 rom for the Orbit is not that bad its a lot lighter then the last few releases of O2 software.

General question - usability WM6

I hope this question is not OT. I was planning to get a HTC S710 as a replacement for my Noika E61. But then i found that at least with an S620 (i know WM5) it's not possible to enter multiple day appointments at the mobile device. Tracking a bit further down i found out with an SDA (T-Mobile) it's not possible either. How about WM6? Can anybody take a few screenshots of the menus an post it here (or email me).
I never considered this a problem as with my mda (HTC magician - PPC2003 SE) it's possible.

thanx for your reply, but what i meant (but didn't ask clearly enough) is, if it is possible to plan an appointment which e.g. starts on april, 1. at 2 pm and lasts till april 3. at 10 am.

Yes it is possible, in the native calendar, when setting up an appointment you can select a start date & time as well as a finish date & time. There is always 3rd party applications as well, which should be able to do this in WM5.

Yep, I have checked it on my HTC S710 running WM6 Standard. Professional is for touch screens.
I just set a 4 day appointment, works good.

The last version was for use on WM6.1, but i found that it doesn´t work well on the last 6.5 version. It´s a wonderful app, it cut´s all data connection at a given time, 1 min, 5 min etc... When you aren´t using data connection the app simply turn´s it of. Really good to save the baterry and you gprs data plan.
Does anyone use this app on the HD2? Is there any other like it?
Can anyone update it?
The software devolper said to me that he only works on iphone know. It´s a bummer because for me this is a must have on any windows mobile phone.

Very nice, I didn´t knew that app, it´s very nice! Only prob, lots of translations and none in PTG, I´m sticking to the ENG one.

WM 6.5.3

Anyone know if the Maple/Snap will be able to be updated to WM 6.5.3 ROM ? I heard some phones are getting that release. Also have realised something about the official 6.5 ROM for the Maple : it's WM 6.5 standard and not professional. At first I thought the difference was only in touchscreens / non-touchscreens, but there are some other differences for exemple the Office Mobile delivered with 6.5 standard is version 6.1 and does not support copy/paste, what a shame.

you can use doctogo app as a alternative for
ms office mobile.

where did you get that info?
evo cooked rom support french keyboard layout for sure,
after flashing with that rom, choose keymap config, and choose 4 for french keyboard, restart your phone..and voilaa..you get your french key back

Thanks, but it's the whole ROM that I want in french, not just the keyboard. Is there a way to get ookba's ROM translated to french ? If he could send me a language file, I'd be glad to translate it to french.
