[Q] Repurposing an old Treo 750 - Palm Treo 750

I have an old Treo 750 that I no longer use as a phone. I would like to find cool new uses for it other than just an mp3 player or standard PDA functions. I've read suggestions like making it a universal remote, a straight alarm clock, stuff like that, but I think there are probably better ideas than that. It's not unlocked (yet), and I haven't updated it since 2009.
It's running WM6.
Treo750-1.13-ATT
Firmware - 1.54.27.00
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

did you ever get any answers? would love to turn mine into a roku remote or some fun project running android...

First you need unlock your phone and update it to 6.5 with this custom rom.

Help Upgrading my M5000 to WM6

I am a new owner of SPV M5000..It is my first time upgrading my unit and I have decided to use Jwrightmcps Crossbow ROM Update 2.02.02 WWE rom because it is receiving lots of positive feedbacks..I have already downloaded the rom for M5000..What should I do next?Do I just need to click the .exe file or what?Or if there is any other rom that you could recommend, tell me please...
WM5 or WM6?
Thanks a lot guys
it depends on what do you want to do with your device.
if you need a very stable ROM, and a Wifi, Email, Bluetooth etc. working, then you should upgrade to the last version of WM5. for this you must go in the "Universal Upgrading" forum.
WM6 is much faster, but sometimes there are problems with bluetooth handsfree, and with the wifi (you cannot access some specific pages, but you can access other) and with others.
whatever you choose, keep in mind that upgrading your SPV can be dangerous if you don't fallow all the steps.
First of all, be patient and read the Wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/. A lot of things are explained there.
After that, read as much threads as possible. Always read the threads of the ROMs you want to install. you will find out all the potential problems with the ROMs and you might decide to use a different ROM.
Keep in mind that you will loose the waranty of the device by performing an ROM upgrade.
1
the first thing you must do, is to upgrade the bootloader.
for this, go here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Bootloader
2
the second thing you must do, is to unlock your device. in this way you will be able to use different SIM cards, not only Orange ones. you will be able to use T-Mobile, O2 etc.
it is important to remove your SIM Lock before going any furthere.
for this you must go here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Uni_Simlock_by_Buzz_and_team
3
after the SIM unlock, you will have a Radio version 0.00.00
you need to upgrade your Radio. the latest Radio is 1.15.00
for this you must go here:http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=UNI_Radio
you can download the Radio from here: http://rs45.rapidshare.com/files/21256271/11500_Radio_only.rar
4
with your new radio 1.15.00 you must upgrade the bootloader again.
so again go here and repeat all the steps: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Bootloader
5
now you can upgrade the ROM. to do that, download what ROM you prefere and then go here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Uni_ROM_Upgrade
i advice you not to hurry and upgrade your M5000. spend more time on the forum, read the whole Wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/ and learn more about your device. probably you still don't know how to enter in bootloader, how to hardreset your device, what to do if you get stucked in bootloader mode etc.
meny people brick their devices. for example, if you unplug your device during ROM upgrading, you will no longer be able to use the device. it will be gone for ever.
don't hurry to upgrade. there are meny meny things to find out about your M5000.
good luck !!!
thanks
I just did the upgrade without upgrading my BL and radio version..Everything went fine...I am a happy user now of WM6 on my M5000..
Thanks a lot

Also, your IP/SP are VERY old. You may experience problems with using newer ROMS (such as the latest 6.5 builds). Not saying it's doomed to failure, just saying don't expect miracles.

[Q] Custom accent colors, 3g toggle question.

Hello folks,
I know there are a lot of threads going around that cater to this topic but I had just one little question. I have an Omnia 7 (8107, updated via zune) which is developer unlocked (no interop).
Is there any way, or will there be any way via which I can put custom accent colors on my phone?
I loved doing that using advanced config but I flashed my rom & all the changes I made were lost.
Also I loved having the 3g/2g toggle button, but ever since I flashed the new rom & updated it is no longer there. Is there anyway by which I can get back the toggle?
Thanks!
Why didn't you interop-unlock again? You can still use Advanced Config or similar apps if you do...
Use WindowBreak or any of the Interop-Unlock apps. If your firmware is incompatible, roll back first using Zune (it should be the last update, so easy to restore).
Hi, Thanks for replying. I don't want to roll back because I am unable to! I have a backup restore but my phone never restores to that point (gives me a weird error, I don't remember the code right now, my phone reboots twice and the restore fails giving me an error code. I did some digging around but didn't find anything useful)
It's the same story with ALL the restores that I have, I cannot roll back to any of those. Does windowbreak work on 8107?
Thanks for replying!
I said firmware, not OS (7.10.8107 is an OS build version). 8107 doesn't matter one way or the other, but some phones get a firmware update (Samsung's KK2 update) that disables hacks like WindowBreak and the other Interop Unlock tools.
Oh okay
my specs are :
PDA : i8700xxkk2
phone : i8700xxki1
csc : i8700xenjk1
So I guess, I have the kk2 which won't let me run windowbreak or any other tools. Am I right?

japmeet, unfortunatly kk2 was just to break the project, nothing more.
I have an Omnia 7 and i can give you two advices about what i did:
A)First, i have downgrade to 7.0.7004.0 and run windowbreak or chevronwp7 and then u can update,i suggest manually to 8107 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415
B) I also tried after downgrade to 7.0.7004.0, done a clean reset and tried the custom already unlocked roms:
mi7ROM from mirolg: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1499102
xda-devs from ceesheim: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1533229
Maybe you can try it!
Thanks for replying but doing so will result in a loss of my text messages which I don't want to go through again. I think I'll wait until the devs come up with something that can break the kk2's defences. Thanks!

[Q] Where can I find original Omnia firmwares?

As the title says, I need an original omnia 7 pre-8107 ROM.
There is a thread with links, but they are dead.
There is also a page on sammy firmware, but I don't know which one should I use:
http://bit.ly/IbRp3A
My phone has been bought in Croatia (Europe) on t-mobile operator and has been sim unlocked after that. I need to keep SIM unlock too.
Are these instrucion applicable for what I need to do:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973420
My intent is to do a manual rollback to be able to windowbreak my Omnia and than update via Zune to the latest OS version (8107 currently). I am doing this because Croatia has been given a marketplace access and I want to do a hard reset.

In my opinion you should install a custom rom, like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485576

Thanks for the advice, but i've given up on custom ROMs, since i noticed all of them have some bugs and problems. And CAB updating does not work reliably. And they more often than not come with those modified tile and icon skins.
Got an answer on another thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570569&page=2
Downloaded firmware, no magldr needed, i just need to follow these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973420
Also, it would seem i don't even have to flash anything, since zune restore will be enough for my purposes.

[QUESTION]: HTC 7 Pro T7576 - 7.10.8107.79 - Unlockable?

I recently purchased a new HTC 7 Pro T7576 and am looking to unlock it to install the root tools.
I have spent several days trying to read up about unlocking prior to posting in this thread, but have not had much luck.
Based on my research, I understand that there exist several different type of unlocks. For the work I'd like to do with this device, I require that root tools are installed and understand that the INTEROP unlock would suffice for this as the tools are not native tools.
I have followed most of the instruction online with out much luck for setting up the device yet. The details of the device are:
Name: HTC 7 Pro T7576
Software: Windows Phone 7.5
OS version: 7.10.8107.79
Firmware rev number: 2250.21.51202.111
Radio software version: 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U
Radio hardware version: A.102.0.D4
Boot loader version: 2.2.5.0
The steps I've taken thus far are to take a backup of the device using zune, download the HTC_Interop_Unlock.xap and tried to install it using XAPDeployX-v0.9.
The error message I get back is:
Deployment FAILED with the following ERROR:
Failed to connect to device as it is developer locked. For details on developer unlock, visit http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=195284.
Is there any luck for this device?
Thanks!
Based on some additional reading... I would require to flash the boot loader and put a custom rom.
Can anyone confirm?
After several days of research, it appears that the Interop method does not work any more.
Additionally, can someone provide some direction? I'm looking to flash but the instructions aren't clear and I don't want to brick my device.
Thanks.
Any tips from anyone? I'm trying not to avoid bricking my device.
ANy help would be greatly appreciated.
My journey for unlocking this device is still moving forward.
From additional reading, it looks like my SPL is 5.2.2.5.0 which means I must downgrade it...
The only way I see so far is with a gold card.
Given I have an OTG cable? Can I use this cable? to somehow download the bootloader?
Hi,
use this Method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456200
This will work on my boot loader? Even with an SPL with 5.1.2.2250.0?
To close the loop, I used a goldcard image with the RUU_Gold_HTC_Europe_1.22.401.01_Radio_5.63.09.13_3a_22.36.50.15U_by_ansar.zip to create the GOLDIMG.nbh to downgrade the firmware.
Was a bit finicky, but eventually it took the update.
Next to install a custom rom...
Update: Trying to install RSPL and HSPL, but no luck
Does the DFT tool work on these devices? I've tried to go through the 126 page DFT thread (below) but no really confirmation
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647
If anyone can help this would be great!
Moving right along... Got the HSPL flashed. Had to use another PC.
The original PC I used was a VMWARE workstation with Windows XP, which did not detect the device.
Used a physical Win7 Laptop, everything worked just fine.
Now onto a custom firmware....
Hmm, tried to flash Dynamics v2.0, but it needs a special radio version.
I got the radio, but not sure how to flash it, can someone help explain how to do this with RUU?
Thanks.
Hi dustbyter
are you still interested in this topic? I just did the same on my HTC 7 Pro T7576

Hello,
I have been given a HTC 7 Pro T7576, Windows Phone 7.8, OS version: 7.10.8858.136, firmware rev. no. 2250.21.51101.401, hardware rev. no. 0002, radio software version 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U, radio hardware version A.102.0.D4, Bootloader version 5.11.2250.0, chip SOC version 2.2.5.0
I love everything but the OS of this phone.
I am a total newbie at mobile OS but have 10 years experience with Slackware linux.
Please help me out with detailed instructions to replace Windows Phone with Android on HTC 7 Pro.
Thank you!

I second this. Windows Phone 7 is a dead-end street. Therefore, nobody even cooks ROMs for these phones any more (the newest ones I could find are from 2013).
That's pretty bad since otherwise, the HTC 7 Pro is a good phone - I love its keyboard as my fingers do not seem to be compatible to touch screens
It was possible to port Android to legacy devices like the HTC HD2. Wouldn't it be possible to do that for the HTC 7 Pro, too? That would be, I think, the greatest thing since sliced bread
Kind regards,
DAC324
