LG Phoen Accessories
Hey buddy i have also found the multi-color case for my LG phone. I found the lg accessories at the best deals.

Although the kickstand is quite nice, I wish it were a 'full enclosure' case.

are there any desk dock which is not manufacturing by LG can be used for optimus 3D too

won't work, the USB connector is for when it's in portrait mode only so it thinks the USB connector is in the middle at the bottom, which it isn't

This is the case I use, bought the white one, it is very wonderful. Offers great protection, w/ rubber inside and plastic outside, and the rubber is also on the sides, and sticks out from the plastic a bit , so it sits on the rubber not the plastic to absorb the shock.
I'll take pictures of it later.

The official o3d dock is the sdt-190. Ive just had mine delivered from amazon. Seems pretty decent with the usb and micro hdmi ports replicated on the back. My only small gripe is you have to get the port covers on the phone in just the right angle for it to sit flush in the dock. Overall though im pretty happy with it.

i have it also, but im just 50% happy, i was expecting more, is pretty much the same as using it without , unless someone use it to watch movies, or idk

Again, I love the Dock but I dont understand the excitement if we cant connect a keyboard to it.. its just a stand in the end.. you still need to use the screen with your hands so might as well be holding it than being on a desk..

yeah, something like that, and as far as i know, the phone isn't compatible with any bluetooth keyboard yet, a protocol thing not being found on the phone, i haven't had the opportunity to test that though. And this last time, every time i connect the phone to the dock, it reboot automatically, very fast, and then all is ok, not sure what did i do wrong this time

Hi we desperately need a kernel that utilises the hardware capability of "USB On The Go"
Like FM radio was supported by the hardware, but there was no software to use the same, the LGO3D seems to have the hardware for USB OTG, but no software, which needs to be built in in the kernel.
hope you can help.

I'm thinking of getting this 3rd party cradle for the Nexus one but i'm afraid it's not going to be as good as the OEM one. Has anyone had any experience with this brand?

Ive had the official one since the day it was available. Although i do like it, it isnt perfect. The phone doesnt sit as well as i would hope so. Its fallen over many times for me, enough to warrant a case purchase....which doesnt fit in the dock. In the end, it wasnt worth the extra coin i paid for it. So i say spend your 25$ on the one you see and dont look back
I'm getting a similar dock..... 4phoneaccessories.com/product_info.php?language=en&currency=USD&products_id=3555 - supposed to be getting it hopefully next week, so I'll let you know how it is.
Also, xda wouldn't let me post the full URL, so I had to remove the http and www
You can use adb with it, you can't do that with the official one.

which one the first link or the third?
I'd really prefer the microUSB connection to enable easy data transfer and adb, so I may have to try this one. Most docks with microUSB use the connection as the only vertical support but this one has a molded plastic guard to reduce the strain on the port. Worth trying for $25, imo.

Oh wow. I love that I can charge a second battery in there. Please report back with how well this works. Thank you thank you.
I got this one off ebay because I simply needed a spare battery charger.

It works perfectly and even the phone sits firmly in the dock, much better than in the official dock. The only reason to get the official dock is if you want the clock app to activate automatically or hook it up to a stereo or something. Otherwise, get one of these 3rd party apps to charge your spare battery and phone and manually activate the clock app before you go to bed.

Hey Jak - can the Nexus fit in the cradle with a rubber/silicone case? How is the back support? I'm thinking about getting one of these but in looking at it, I'm concerned that there is not enough support to take off the strain from the USB port. Like it would cause the charging port to become loosened over time. Please let me know.

I'm thinking about getting this one also due to it appears to give more back support which may take the strain from the usb charging port. Did you ever get this and if so, how do you like it?

I've got this cradle and that's exactly what I do. I take off the lower part of my Seidio Innocase II Surface case before sliding it in the dock and then open the clock app myself. Been using it for about 3 weeks now without a hitch. I had originally ordered the official N1 dock and decided I didn't like the way the phone sat in it within 15 mins of opening the box and returned it to HTC. With the microUSB plug in the bottom, the phone never falls out and holds it in position for clicking on the screen when in the dock. The only down side to the dock is it has an extremely bright blue led on it that acts as a night light in my room. I've since started taking the bottom part of my case and laying it over that light. Overall, I'd say the 3rd party dock is way better then Google's.
P.S. - One other nice thing about the dock is you can charge your phone via USB or the power cord that comes with it. USB will not charge the extra battery and a phone though, so if you want to do that combo, you have to plug it into the wall.

I haven't tried it with a rubber case, but it doesn't fit with a hard case. It supports the phone around the base and slight in the back. It feels very stable.
Oh, the battery charger has 4 pins, so I think it's an intelligent charger.
I bought this one
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.34205
And it's Fu**ing great. In my night stand look beautiful and if you want, it can connect to your PC also.
I recommend this one for sure, and is the cheapest. Quality is good, really nice feel - does not feel cheap.
I bought from 4u KIDI extra battery witch was broken. Now I ordered two extra ones with charger on ebay for 20$, So I didn't check if extra battery charger works on my stand.
Great...thanks everyone!

Just arrived. So far it's exactly what I wanted. The plastic support is perfectly molded to the Nexus, so the phone snaps solidly into place. There's a bright blue LED on the front, so that may be bothersome if you're using it as a nightstand but it could be covered up easily. Charging and sync work as expected. Definitely worth the price.
I agree. Mine came in yesterday and I'm really glad I ordered it. Definitely meets my expectation and has the support to reduce the strain on port - which was my initial concern. Highly recommend. I got mine from here:

Bedside Dock found

not sure if anyone has seen this yet..but check it out

i dont know if this activates the dock mode or anything. what does everyone think?
well personally I would rather go for an official dock that sits the phone landscape rather than have a crappy usb cable , plus bedside clock looks better in landscape.
It won't automatically put the clock on, all it will do is charge your phone, you would have to turn the clock on yourself.
Funny but this is becoming the holy grail of G2 owners. Every time I see a post like I check it out eagerly.
Ever since I got Alarm Clock Plus I've replaced my bedside alarm clock with the G2 and rely on it to wake me up every morning so the bedside dock is important to me.
What I've done is I just plug the charger into the phone and set the phone on its side in a business card holder. Doesn't look too bad.

I actually ordered this exact same dock but from a different E-Bay seller, and mine came with a total of six items for $25.48 including shipping!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330496262852&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
It comes with:
1 x Horizontal Dock With Spare Batter Charger Slot
1 x Spare Battery
1 x AC Power Adapter (US Standard)
1 x Free Mini USB To Micro USB Converter
1 x Free Retractable Stylus
1 x Free Screen Protector
It ships from Hong Kong and the posting says its does NOT work with the US HTC G2 model, but I don't see how that's possible since the Desire-Z and G2 are built identically.
For all this, the Buy It Now price was/is $19.99 + $5.49 shipping. For that price I'm willing to take the chance. The seller has a 98.3% positive feedback rating from 35,864 feedback postings.
The only thing I'm not too thrilled about is that, according to the posting, to charge the phone and the spare batter you have to have the AC adapter AND the usb adapters both plugged in. But that really this a big deal.
That being said, I ordered mine on December 3rd and it shipped December 4th (from Hong Kong). SO I should be receiving it sometime this coming week. I'll report back once I have it on hand.
Any update on this deal? Did it work for the g2?
HTC Vision - Virtuous Rom - 1.8 OC
EDIT: never mind, missed the comment in the middle of your post.
Blue, did you get the dock yet? If you did, can you give us an update please? I have been looking for a home dock and the one that you ordered seemed like a really good deal.

Ingenious Car Mount

Hey everyone,
I'm not sure how many of you are aware of this product but I just found it on sale at Canadian Tire here in Canada and I'm very impressed. It's just so convenient.. I can't believe I haven't seen this before. I am amazed by it, honestly.
http://www.tetrax.com/us
Look at the XWAY and FIXWAY primarily. I purchased the XWAY at Canadian Tire for $30 (regular $50). A little expensive compared to what I am used to, but I am very happy with it so far.
The reasons I like this solution:
Works with any type of device
Sturdy and secure. Even holds me 5" GPS (though I prefer to use Google Navigation )
Allows for the keyboard to be open on most (if not all) qwerty phones
Allows for portrait and landscape rotation
Is not visible when device is on the mount
Is very small and unobtrusive when device is not on the mount
There are no clips or snaps to fiddle with, just slide off the device
You can use this with 4 devices out-of-the-box as it comes with 4 different sized magnetic pads for your devices
This does not introduce a magnetic field to yoru device (the magnet is broken into 4 and arranged intelligently)
The negative things I've discovered about this solution:
You need a magnetic pad on each device you want to use
The XWAY can be accidentally pulled off the vent if you yank the device straight off of mount instead of sliding it off
Depending on your car vents, the angle that the device is pointed might not be ideal
I will post pix tomorrow if anyone is interested! The site has quite a few to look at until then.
Here's some pix!
I don't have photos of it in the car quite yet. I'll try to get some tomorrow morning.
Today I found the FIXWAY at BestBuy and decided that I might like that better since it can be positioned in a better spot in my car. My cars vents are not ideal since the steering wheel covers part of the screen when mounted there. However, even so, the XWAY has been by far the best car mount I've ever seen or used. The FIXWAY should be even better (for my particular car).
I also discovered that the FIXWAY doesn't actually get fixed to the car itself as I thought, but instead it uses a square magnet which you fix to your car. It actually comes with 2 of these in case you want to use this in 2 cars. Like the metal button that you stick to the phone, the square metal that goes on the car has 3M adhesive on the back. It's super strong, works great.
Anyway here's some photos of both the XWAY and FIXWAY I took in my living room.
Very interesting. But, in my feeling, the lack is that we can't orientate the phone ...
I guess it depends how your car's dashboard is angled. Mine faces me just fine and the videos I've seen it seems like most work out fine
And for rotation, you can rotate it any which way before or after your phone is mounted.
I have had the xway for about 2 months now and I love it. If you are attaching it to the vents their is really no reason to have to angle the phone. I agree that if you have some weird vent configuration it may be an issue.

Wow I guess I didn't so the best job at reading through that thread! I even posted a link from there to here on page 11. Good pix though! Thanks
Here are some pix of the FIXWAY in the car without the phone on it (all I had to take the pix was the phone). One of these days I'll remember to bring out the camera..
Oh, and good news... It seems that you can actually angle/tilt the phone with the FIXWAY. It must be the shape of the magnet or something, and the fact that the 'X' is rubber, I am able to tilt it and it holds in place. Not a lot, but enough that I was able to cut down on some glare on the drive home
That's pretty cool, And I actually lik the blob on the back of the phone

It should stick to any shell/case just fine I would think?
For some years I use some velcro (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velcro). The soft side on my phone, lighter. The hard side on the dash.
Costs almost nothing. Works very well, except in the summer when it is very hot (than the glue gets sticky)

I am still very much in love with this thing. My whole family has'em now, which is awesome because whenever I drive any of their cars I'm set

Thanks for the recommendation and all the pictures. Difficult to find a mount that doesn't interfere with the camera and/or volume buttons.

[Q] A few hours with my transformer

Having received my transformer this morning, all I can say is i love it! however, there are definitely a few issues that are bugging me;
1. the build quality. i constantly feel where the outer rim and the back casing are supposed to join, but dont and its a constant remind of its quality
2. the dock. its brilliant but the putting the tablet into the dock is so annoying and im afraid I may end up breaking the mechanism on the dock. which leads me to my next point...
3. connectivity. the tablet actually has about as much connectivity as an ipad, which is a REAL shame. would it have been so difficult to implement a micro/usb port onto the tablet? i appreciate the sd card slot but personally I'd have preferred the micro/usb than the sd card, but hey atleast the sd card works! you cannot really experience the transformer properly without the keyboard dock so when docking the tablet I am extremely cautious incase i do do some damage.
4. trackpad. the two buttons on the trackpad also feel really cheap when pressing. I suppose this is to be expected when paying as little I have for this tablet.
My final issue, for now, is the constant freezing of the keyboard which i believe has been addressed in a firmware update in the US and not in the UK. Would be nice to get it soon! anyone know when we brits get this update, and any other update there is floating around??
there is a USB port adapter being released by Asus in the near future. Also the trackpad feels real solid to me.

they feel like plastic but they feel robust and sturdy to me, or are you experiencing different issues?
happy with the trackpad buttons too..they're robust..
as for the docking mechanism..you'll get used to it eventually...and it's a lot easier to dock after being used for a while.
I have no problems that seriously bother me. If you don't like it there's always the option to return it. I would not keep something that bothers me that much!
I am just waiting to see if its a case of getting used to it, will only return as a very last resort because I'm very happy with the rest of the tablet as I'm sure the majority of transformer users are!
Dock is very solid. And it has usb ports so I'm confused about your review.

i think he means why didnt they add a usb to the tablet as well so if you didnt buy the dock you could have a usb port. i think it would have been a nice feature especially on the left hand side of the tablet where the power and volume buttons are. i do like the dock option especially since it adds more battery life to the tablet.
^ Actually the iPad2 has a dock slot (smartass), it's just basically a keyboard, without any of the usefullness of the TF's dock.
The dock has USB ports, yes, but the tablet itself doesn't. I can see where kashifnazir is going with this; I'd like a USB port - even a micro/mini would do - on the tablet itself as well. If I wanted to just grab something of somone's USB stick, I might not necessarily what to root in my bag for the dock every time.
Regardless, it's relatively minor. The Transformer is still the portable computer I've been waiting for since tablets first hit the market.

I sort of noticed this issue too, but try this:
Press the trackpad button all the way out on the edge. Feels cheap doesn't it? Now press the button about halfway between the edge and the rubber bumper that the screen rests on when closed. Now, it feels almost better than some netbook trackpad buttons I've used.
My thoughts after some time on the TF
Charger: It appears that the charger is marginal at best and when used to charge the TF/Dock combo with medium battery remaining the charger overheats and either dies or shuts down until it cools. I have been charging separately and if lots of charging is needed, do it in increments. Seems to work fine. Excellent biz opportunity design a 15VDC 3.0a power supply with a USB3.0 female connector.
Dust: The plastic protective cover was covered with dust when I opened the box. Luckily nothing inside the TF. ASUS needs to revisit the assy and packaging cleanliness requirements.
UI: Would be nice to have option to move soft buttons from bottom to side of screen as they are easier to access when holding the device.
Case creek. My case is solid, but I noticed that the hinge on the dock is very stiff and I can see how opening and closing the combo by pushing on the TF could easily cause considerable stress on the case causing it to flex.
Overall for an early adopted device I am impressed.

I understand, but from a business perspective, I think it would have been a horrible idea for Asus to include a USB/micro USB port on the tablet itself. They wouldn't have the potential to sell nearly as many docks, and getting consumers to buy both parts is how they've chosen to market the Transformer.

Bicycle mount

I cycle to and from work every day, I always had my Desire mounted to my handlebars using this mount
does anyone know of any for the Optimus 3D?
I don't trust the universal ones, I'm after one that is specific to this phone so I know it will hold it tight, preferable so I can film my commute too (like I did on the Desire)
Anyone seen anything?
I've ordered on from eBay for £8 delivered (from Hong Kong). It's made specifically for the phone, I'll report back once it's arrived and I've tried it
truly awful!
the mount doesn't fit any handlebars I've seen and the bit the phone goes in is too small, certainly not made specifically for the phone!
Tweak it
I haven't tried this on O3D but have successfully used bike mounts on Optimus P500 and Motorola Defy (really good to use for both navigation and sports apps).
I did purchase one of those universal bike mounts, and it was TERRIBLE. So instead I got a hold of an original LG car mount. The piece itself which holds the phone snaps off from from the rest of the mount.
From the universal mount I pretty much just cut off anything but the piece which mounts the handle bar. I then melted the the plastic from both the original "snap on" piece and the universal mount, pressed them together, and then separated them. They now had a good fit, so I super glued the pieces together and man! the result is beyond what I could've hoped for.
It's very durable, doesn't take up a ton of space (unlike the universal monsters of mounts).
When I "melted" the pieces together I ensured to also include the slide on mechanism to release the mount. Therefore I can now get the O3D original car holder and just snap it on to my bike.
In order to do this, you will have to take a risk... but it was clearly worth it for me. I've used it a lot, both off road and on road.
I'll send a pic of it if you want.
I'd really like to see one or two pictures of your custom made mount.
I'm in need of a sturdy solution as well.
Will attempt taking some pics tomorrow, but only if the weather permits Quite stormy around London at this time.

So, you're from London!
My Home Team will face Chelsea FC in this year's CL final.
Hope your pics will exceed C's display in the forthcoming game.

Hehe, we will see what Bayern can do to induce harm.
It'll be hard to exceed Chelsea's upcoming display on May 19th
Pictures..
Here they are.
So, I was too lazy to put the P920 holder, so the P500 displayed in the pictures. It's the same type of clip attachment as the original P920 adapter... very easy to attach any LG device, as long as you have an original car mount.
Displayed on picture 2, is the assembly of a universal bike mount, cut into pieces and then a glued/melted original LG lock plate. So that any original LG car mount holder can be attached.
I've mostly used the P500 adapter with my old phone, and I've been going hard off road with my phone never coming off! It just works. The universal adapter I originally purchased was terrible keeping the phone steady.
The key to getting the mount secure was to get a tight fit, having the phone as close to the bar as possible. I was a little scared of sacrificing an original car mount, but it really paid off!
For those of us not so much into the diy thing (or for those like me who would end up paying almost as high as that buying the original lg car mount.. ) :
image in the attachment..
btw, it shows the optimus one, but seems to be the right thing as far as the description goes
