Just unwrapped my GTab. No screen protector
1. The intial screen was the Classic (not TNT), with an interactive wallpaper of leaves on a pond; meaning that if you tap in a blank space, the screen gives you the effect of rippling water.
1a. The inital Classic screen displayed about 4 rows of apps. Including Angry Birds
2. Connected to my WiFi
3. It took on OTA factory update right away & rebooted
3a. After the reboot, same as #1 & #1a
4. Flashplayer was already operational. No icon, just checked by going to a site that uses it.
5. I dropped in a 8GB Micro SD and formatted, then mounted
6. Everthing is going fine for an hour.
7. Played Angry Birds for about 20 minutes.
8. Surfing for about 40 minutes, then the browser did a forced close & wouldn't allow me to re-open
9. I shut the unit down & rebooted
10. The unit was stuck on the GTablet splash screen for over 2 minutes. Then looped back to the three birds & then completed the boot process
11. For the 1st time I was asked to enter a user name, WiFi settings again.
From what I remember I lost:
The interactive Wall paper
Angry Birds
Kindle
Flash Player
Classic is only showing a minimal amount of icons
Any idea what happened ?
Was my new unit from 6th Ave. not so new ?
More observations:
I performed a factory reset. Didn't change anything, everything appears to be the same.

I attempted to install Flash from the above folder. No errors, but it won't play either.
Just for grins I went to Android Marketplace and logged into my Gmail acct & it works.

You have a used unit
Totally a pre used unit. Take it back if you value having a warranty. Does the code on the back of the tablet match the code on the box?
Mine was similar too. I bought mine new from Amazon, it was still in the shrink wrap. Although mine didn't have flash on it.
Edit: Mine did the exact same thing. When I first started it up, I had the live wallpaper of leaves in water and it was running pretty good. Then I had a problem with the wifi connection and the tablet seemed to freeze, so I rebooted it. Then when it rebooted it came up with non-live wallpaper, and no flash, big time difference. And the firmware was back to 3389. I did just look on the SDCARD and found the Master folder with the Flash .apk in there for version 10.1.120.1, it seems to work pretty good. The version I had downloaded from the Viewsonic website, 10.1.95.1, didnt work at all. Everytime I'd go to a website with flash on it, the web browser would just crash immediately. Even trying it with Dolphin HD, and Fennec 4, it crashed them too. So that's cool that they put that newer flash on there. Even on my android cellphone the most up to date flash is at 10.1.106.16, so the one that they included on the tablet is even newer.
I'm going to register it with viewsonic & see what they say.

Hi all,
I install CWM v0.8 on my T2 (3G GPS model) all went well and it works
Then I tried to install gapps-mdpi-tegra-20101020-signed.zip and it all went to hell.
At start up the new system starts and sometimes I get as far entering data. then the start up "slide me" screen comes on. It slides to start but nothing more happens the screen stays blurred out
I've cleared the cache etc reinstalled - you name it no change.I now have an expensive door stop.
Any help in getting back to original would be appreciated.
Oh by the way the OP idiot didn't do a back up as he couldn't find how to do it until much much later!!
fixed thanks applied the vegan 5.1 patch and away it went, googlemarket, angry birds with opengl fix
I am a new user of touchscreen and android phones, so I'm not sure if I'm just being picky with my issues, or if they can be fixed. But if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.
1. My phone will randomly mute mid-conversation. I then have to re-enter my password and get back to the phone "app" to un-mute it.
2. When I'm using the camera, if I leave it long enough for the phone to go into sleep mode I can't get it to turn back on. The touch buttons are still highlighted at the bottom of the phone, but the screen is black. I can hear the phone beeping like it is turning back on, but get nothing on the display. I then have to take out the battery, wait for 30-60 sec and then put it back in. Sometimes I have to do this repeatedly before it will start working again.
3. When I try to update the OS in Settings I keep getting the message that the phone cannot connect to the server. However, I have not other problems connecting to any other sites.
4. I added the facebook app and want to remove it now. I have gone into settings > applications and "uninstalled" it. However, the icon is still on my homepage and I can't seem to remove it. When I hold my finger on it a trash bin shows up below. But this only moves it to my apps page.
5. The phone is freezes pretty often. At least a couple times a day.
Ok, this is it for now. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate.
Thanks
I going to guess your still on 2.1 when was 2.1 stock the was way too touchy. The light goes out and you can't get to turn on unless battery pull this a issue found on 2.1 their a 2.2 update coming in late July. Update this on all this option will not work xt720 it not ota compatible so your settings area will not work . Be patient wait for Cincinnati bell update and if your not with them I intend to leak it.

As much as I'm liking my return to 2.1, it does indeed freeze up often, as I recall it did when I first got the phone. (the whole screen goes black, lights on bottom turn on thing)
Facebook app is a stock app and can't be removed unless your rooted.
Never had the mute issue.
The cannot connect to server thing I have had. But it's irrelevant as there shouldn't be any updates to get anyways.
Is updating the OS the best way to improve the performace of my phone? or should I still do the overclocking. If you advise to do the overclocking, should I wait untill I update the OS, or do it now?
There is no update to the OS, except for one that just overclocks from 550 to 720mhz. Chances are you already have that though. I do think that overclocking is a good idea if you want to increase the speed of your phone obviously. 1Ghz is nice and stable.
EDIT: Or do you mean update as in install one of the 2.2 ROMs from here?
I think Queenmantis's problem are related to the original Home app. try some Launcher apps such as Launcher Pro.
for now, my favorite is GoLauncher EX, with the latest update last week, that app totally rock. you guys should try.
I really love Dexter's 2.2, but the short battery life keeps bugging me so I've already went back to 2.1 since last week. I've got no modification except Milestone Overclock + App2Card 2.8.2. Eclair is still so sweet.
Hi I have bluesteel I have modified it some and would put up against any of 2.2 or 2.1 my numbers. Startup 65 memory and regular memory is 70 to 88 program memory and don't freeze and no lag.

Wait for CBW's update if you don't want to root.. If you're open to the idea of rooting your phone, then go ahead and update to Dexter's 2.2, save yourself the headache, then flash one of Khalpowers' ROMs, that should fix you up real good, there's always the option of going back to stock of you don't like the results, or go back to the "official 2.2" from CBW once it's available. But that's just me..

1. Maybe the Proximity sensor for auto turn-off has problems, when you are using the phone, the backlight turn-on and your face or your ear touch the surface and it mute.
2. Obviously this is a hardware problem, you should bring your phone to where you buy it to check.
3. I have the same problem, but I think this is not our phones' fault. Motorola seems not to support this phone anymore.
4. Facebook is considered to be a system app on this phone, you can not remove it. The app call facebook you installed on the phone, just the update of the original facebook app. Don't worry about that.
5. This maybe is relevant with the problem you have in the number 2 - a hardware problem.

Please forgive if there is something wrong above. I'm willing to listen and learn.
thank you

I think most important part of App2Card is partitioning of SD card. I had tried the partitioning tool in App2Card but it never fail to fail . So I partitioned my card as below and I use "Parted" software inside Ubuntu. My SD card is Sandisk 8GB SDHC Class6 card.
1st Partition - FAT32 (7.2 GB)
2nd Partition - EXT3 (512 Mb)
3rd Partition - SWAP (256 Mb)
Create one partition at a time. Don't create everything in one batch.
Then, the card should be ready to use.
now come with the App2Card. Open the app, make sure u grant root access and all, make sure the app detect the card. then close it again. (that might be the trick). And open it again. Just do open and close till the "What's New" pop-up never show up. It might be two or three times. Then click "Install EXT/Transfer apps to EXT" button.
it will install, make the phone reboot and configure.
after the phone is rebooted, open the App2Card to make sure it show no error message. If there's any error message, just try to reboot the phone. It will surely work.
Posted this elsewhere but I guess it will be helpful to some who have gone through what I have to recover their phone.
This is to speed up, root or flash.
Back up your data first using a back up program.
Auto task killers lag on this phone, uninstall.
Or download 91 china phone suite, when open it will be in chinese. Go to the upper left of the program to the android picture and click on the lower bubble by the right of the android's head, a sub menu opens go to the third option and select english. Go to the files section and back up.
Open the phone and check you have the IMEI numbers listed inside under the battery or dial *#06#
Root your phone either z4root which works fine or with superoneclick with the normal usb cable, you can now remove system apps with various apps. Search first for system apps lists which are safe to remove, reboot.
If you've gone too far and it won't boot then search for ginger yoshi zip for a5000 make sure you choose either r=resistive or c=capacitice to suit your screen, though both will boot, the touch screen won't work if it's the wrong firmware. Do not unzip.
Copy file to sd card first renaming the yoshi zip to update.zip.
Turn off phone, turn on again by holding volume up and power at the same time which boots into recovery mode.
Choose update.zip, when finished clear cache and data and remove battery for 20 seconds and reboot. If all fails try again.....
My numbers were fine after install but many aren't search for an IMEI tool to re-enter them.
With yoshi the phone is like a new phone, faster, louder, clearer, boots within 20 secs and instead of struggling to keep an average of 30 meg memory free it's over 150! It also says 3g on the status.
It has problems like the market not working which can apparently be fixed and never fixed my bluetooth paired but not connected problem but for a 100 quid it's fine for me.
I downloaded that many roms I'm not sure which link I got the Ginger Yoshi resistive rom from, can anyone post the link? This is also the reason this is posted here in the hope someone else has the rom link.
I used the one here (first link of the post for A5000 resistive)
forum.chinafonini.it/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=10648&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
It worked, but some features seems missing (account management, camera,...)
My stock ROM crashes (or auto-reboots) every 9 days 9 hrs 30min like a clock.
It happened for at least third time in a row, or most likely it is going on like this all the time because I only noticed this odd behavior when I installed a little "uptime" app. After 3 times obviously that's not coincidence, something is causing my phone to crash or reboot every 9d 9hrs 30min.
Has anyone else notice or had same problem?
Stock rom, locked/unrooted, with stock apps and very few extra apps installed, after previous crash I removed almost everything I had installed in the past, I kept only AirDroid, ColReader, Google Drive, File Manager, Mobo player, Skype, SPB TV, TeamViewer - nothing else, yet it still crashed. I can't figure out is it ROM or any of the apps.
edit - perhaps I should have posted in ROM development... Moderator, please move it?
I wish I could help but I've never been able to stay on the stock ROM for that long.
But....no, you've posted in the right place. Put it in developement and it'll get moved to HERE.
There's a TMobile app on there that monitors the days until suggested reboot (7 days) and will then proceed to "warn" you consistently when you're over that period. It is possible that this app is clashing with one of your other apps or doing something in the phone - maybe using too much memory? /shrug
My phone does the exact same thing after a week but it doesn't reboot, it just randomly "soft-crashes" after I hit the back or home key while playing a game or backing out of dialer, apps, etc.
It's extremely annoying and happens whether I have few apps or my normal stock of apps; the only time it doesn't happen at all is after a factory reset (if I don't update anything).
The only thing I can do to stop it is to reboot the phone, as suggested on the 7th day...as soon as I see that notification, I reboot and so far so good.
Good Luck.
Hello everyone!
Today I updated my HTC U12 + (128GB) to the Android Pie version (9.0):
First I received an update of approximately 350 MB, which was downloaded and installed without any problem, the cell phone restarted without any problems (I clarify that my cell phone is encrypted and when it restarts, ask for a password to continue with the restart). For now everything is going well.
After a while the main update was downloaded (950 MB approx) and I had it installed as soon as the download was finished.
Again the cell phone restarted, he asked me for the password to decrypt it, but after that, it went completely black, he did not advance anything else for several minutes. Amid the panic, fear and despair, I pressed the power button to restart the cell phone, asked for the password again, and apparently charged the rest of the installation.
When I went to use the Camera application, the option thath appears in the lower right corner to see the last photos taken (like a gallery) is not working well, the application crashes and is not letting me see the photos taken. (Here goes the first problem).
Another problem I have is with the Google Play Store app: It doesn't allow me to download apps from the store, as if it were locked or something like that. (Here goes the second problem).
Now, the main problem is: Like any good engineer, any problem can be solved with a reboot to see if everything loads well, but I already tried and it didn't work. And following the good traditions of the good engineer, it can be said that I do a hard reset (erasing all the settings and content of the cell phone, which I also consider an effective solution, I will not deny it), but currently I am outside the country where I have hired My phone number, and for work I need WhatsApp (and as you know, I need a text message with the code to login), and I have no way to activate Roamming.
Can anyone help this good citizen with any advice, trick, recommendation or magic spell that does not involve formatting the phone and solving these problems?
Thanks!
PD: A friend with the "same" model (64GB) had no issues with the instalation, and we compared the camera version number, and everythings is the same.
Delete camera and gallery data in settings and reboot. If that don't work do a factory reset... Sometimes after an update it is necessary to delete old caches that get stuck

I have already deleted the cache of the applications with problems, but it still does not work properly.
Thanks for your answer and support with this.
(Until I can return to my country, I cannot do the hard reset... sadly)
no issues here since yesterday evening
So far it's great, very smooth, phone (64GB blue on TMO US w/ 128GB SD) is faster & battery life seems to have improved a lot though it's only 1PM here so we will see...
Upgrade went the same way like yours except I waited patiently to come back from the "blackout" after the decryption was done, thanks for the heads-up (though I usually wait a while anyway.)
UI is a tad more responsive - I have a lot running on my phone, I use it heavily for business all day long.
I like the clock's new location in the upper left corner actually more than the previous one - however the new UI design is a too bubbly and too colorful, too 'pop' for my taste, the previous one was far more elegant, I think. I will give it some time, see if I get used to it - if not I will just look up some more subtle theme.
I only had to re-apply my notification sound setting, everything else was kept intact so it's all good.
All in all I'm satisfied so far, very smooth upgrade - it did worth the wait, thank you HTC!
