I'm having an issue getting the USB tether working under OSX using the Vibrant guide. Has anyone else gotten this to work?

For now I'm ok using the Wireless AP but if I wanted to stay in a spot longer than a few hours I'd like to have all my wireless radios turned off.

I am getting closer to getting this to work, but not there yet.
I am trying to get the following to work on my Xoom:
- Cisco console cable
- Tripp Lite USB to Serial
- OTG Cable
My Xoom is wifi only, and is rooted with Tiamat 1.1 ROM and currently Launchpad newest kernal.
Now when I connect everything together the Tripp Lite cable will light up for a few seconds, then go off. So I know the Xoom is seeing it, but no way to run it. I have download the app called SerialPort, but for the life of me can't get it to connect.
I know I can buy a $60 bluetooth serial adapter, but I still have to get the bluetooth adapter power. I would rather just get this working using the cables since I already have everything.
Has anyone ever gotten this work with the cables?
By using Hackers keyboard and connect bot I can connect to my Cisco equipment through wifi just fine. I just need to be able to console to the equipment in case there is no wifi available.

I would like to see this too. I work around console equipment a lot too

For giggles I just tried this now that I have 3.2 rooted with Tiamat Katana kernal. Still a no go
Anyone know how to get this working?

Hello,
I wonder whether anyone has issues with the USB Tethering that comes standard on the Sensation with original rom. Basically what I have experienced is that if I connect my laptop via Wi-Fi Hotspot to the Sensation 3G network on T-mobile everything works fine. However if I do the same via USB tethering instead, the laptop grinds to a halt. I mean everything on the laptop responds very slowly (not just the internet). I would like to know if there is a solution around this problem or whether the problem is unique to me only.
Thanks
Hey all, i havent been on this fourm in awhile and I thought Id come on here to talk about an idea i have. Iv been looking for a way to have a better wifi signal on my phone, not just at home but also for public wifi spots. Then i thought of those usb Wifi adapters you can hook into your computer. Is it possible to use your cell phones usb charging cord and plug a wifi adapter into it and increase your cell phones wifi capabilities. I have a new samsung galaxy note , so i was hoping that this phone would be able to do the job. This phone is like a mini computer so i am considering trying it but just wondering if anyone else has had success with this or has any opinions.
a mod on the phone would also be required

what about using a external antenna ? anyone had success with this ?
I don't have a Ethernet cable connected to my computer and don't have a wireless adapter yet but saw i could use USB teathering, I turned on airplane mode and turned on WiFi thinking i wouldn't get charged, but I'm still not sure. AT&T is my carrier. Thanks!

If your phone is in airplane mode, then AT&T doesn't know you exist, and you should have no problem. Your signal would go from your computer via USB to phone, via wifi to router, to the internet. AT&T is out of the loop, and would have no reason to charge you for that (they wouldn't even know). If you want to be really sure, you can remove the SIM card first.
I am looking to buy a 3G or 4G USB dongle to use with the Surface RT...
Can anyone confirm if they have a 3G or 4G USB dongle working with their Surface RT?
Can you confirm Dongle modle number as well please?
I am interested in this as well. AT&T LTE specifically.

I bought this specifically for my Surface and it doesn't work. I'm hanging on to it just in case I decide to get a Surface Pro later on...

The ones that will work are those with NDIS 6.3
Anyone happen to have the Sierra Wireless AirCard 313U to test out on a Surface?
Google for Netzero4g 4G hotspot. I think that so far that type of device are going to be the only option.
My Clearspot works well.
I really need an AT&T solution. Anyone test anything? I am tethering via my iPhone 5 right now, but want to get away from that.
Why not look into the "mobile hotspot" type devices as opposed to a USB dongle. All of them will be compatible being that you only connect to it via WiFi. Much more convenient since you don't have to plug it in to anything.

I am tethering via wifihotspot off my Android phone - Verizon. Only thing is in Hotspot mode it kills my battery on my phone, and wifi speed is a bit slow.
