Hey everyone,
Upgraded Core Droid 1.2 to 1.4 Sunday.
The battery life is better this time round, which is excellent.
However, the android market is missing from the listing, everything else is there, even apps previously installed when I was running 1.2
Is there anyway to recover the android market.
NB: HTC HD2 From T-Mobile USA, 1024
ROM: Core Droid 1.4 (Presently)
SD: 8GB
Thanks.
You might be able to install it from an .apk or you could try this alternative..
http://market.android.com/details?id=com.appspot.swisscodemonkeys.apps&feature=search_result
Using the *.apk method did cross my mind a little later after writing the initial message, and don't get me wrong, I don't mind giving it a shot, but I would rather get some more feedback from those who have tested the ROM as well, if they did so comes to this problem and how did they work around it.
Even if it means that they used the *.apk method that you yourself have stated as an option that has worked with said problem.
Nevertheless, thanks for your input, it is really appreciated.
I ended up finding a solution after looking thru a post made yesterday by someone on the HD2 section.
It was to install the Market 2.12.apk
You were right DirkGently1, thanks for your solid piece of advice.

First let me start by saying hello to everyone and how much i love this website for its plethora of information!! I am have attempted for 6 hours today in attempt to fix my problem and will only post a thread as last resort. I have reached my last resort. Here is how it all started....
Today i decided that i wanted to have the new updated Android Market so i could pay for apps using my tmo account. i noticed that my cyanogen 4.2.15.1 and the previous ones before do not use the updated market (from what i have found, it causes some problem), but i was unable to find a way to just update the market. i have also been toying with the idea of switching roms (i have used cyanogen since i rooted my phone almost a year ago) and was thinking of a super fast Hero rom. From my research, i found one that i thought was the best of the best. getting in a little over my head and doing the proper research and educating myself, i jumped in (not a normal move for me, i tend to collect as much info as i can before a make this type of move but i was work and bored ). so i downloaded and flashed a new rom. here are a few things i did wrong:
I did not wipe before i updated to the new rom
I mistakenly flashed a Hero rom for a 32A phone, thinking mine was 32a (idiot)
I did not change my radio or spl's (from what i am now reading, that was a big mistake too)
so, obviously, the rom did not take and it froze on the green mytouch 3g screen for 40 minutes. no big deal, i thought a would just wipe it, then try again. same result. ok, i will just restore to my nandroid backup........unable to restore . panic started creeping in. ok, i will just redownload the 4.2.15.1 cyanogen i had and WIPE and flash it. after attempting this many many times, it still freezes on the green mytouch 3g screen. i even thought of using an older cyanogen, 4.2.9.1 i believe, thinking they use old info that was still on my phone. no luck. i have a feeling i am missing something very obvious and will feel totally stupid when you guys help me, but, i am stuck.
I would love to have a kick ass Hero rom and if someone can explain to me the proper way of doing so with a recommendation of the most kick assey one, that would be greatly appreciated, or if someone can kindly assist me to get back to my original cyanogen rom, that would also rock. thank you in advance and i know you guys will make whole again!
I kinda think now. that this device was over developed for an under developed os platform. think about it, this device has preemo hardware right yet googles apps are half a$$ working and some arent working at all. i think mabe google needs to step up their app development skills a lil then mabe all these new devices will play nice. its been said that apples apps are better quality... i hate apple lol im currently running a moto droid 1 over clocked to 1.2 on pete's bugless beast 2.2 froyo rom and let me add my phone works ten times faster then the galaxy tab this gtablet and the ipad?? how??? i havent a friggin clue. it dont make sense. android is awsome bottom line this device has potential will that potential be wasted?? i hope not for. what do u guys think.
This belongs in General unfortunately.
The true answer to why Google will not support this is that Honeycomb is their OS for tablets. The hardware manufacturers could not wait to release this hardware (to try to get an edge on the competition).
Currently, Google will not support and will not allow Android Market to go onto a device that does not fit certain criteria.
One of these is that the device MUST have a cellular radio.
Since most of these tablets do not, Google cannot and will not allow Android Market on it at this time.
Hope this answers your question.

it does thank you. i still think its a conspiracy lol.
Google doesn't support wifi only devices yet. I think with android 2.3 we will see a change with that, and that is when we will get this device to shine. It will take time for the hackers to work everything out. It took weeks/months for pete to get his rom to where it is today, and as great as he is, he had a lot of help from the huge DROID community. The community for this gtab is small but growing, and will get better with time. What isn't working fo you? I am on CM6 and got most everything working for google apps except ones where the hardware is limited like GPS/Phone. I have video conf, email, contacts, calender, gtalk, angry birds, flash, overclocking, n lots more etc...
what are you using to overclock?
i cant get set cpu to work properly

i havent purchased it yet. but i want one so bad ive looked at a few of the cheaper tabs and this one looks like its got the best quality for its buck. the galaxy tab is over priced and seems to be less snappy, well from the videos ive seen of it in action. im not a 100% TECH SAVOY but ive rooted my droid and updated its build prop. in order to root this device u used the update.zip format or do i need adb shell to do it.

I used Z4root and rooted my Gtablet with one click. I didn't need an update.zip or adb shell. So don't let the rooting hold you back because if someone like me (no programing or hacking expericence) can do it you surely can.

I got a gift from a bud and it's a Android Tablet. It's the enTourage eDGe.
I KNOW the company went under and that it's a dumb device. But before the company went under they released a BETA Android 2.2. Now I'm thankful for that because it used to have 1.6 on it. The OS is a lot nicer then 1.6 but not a lot of apps run on it and it seems to be more unstable then 1.6.
I know XDA forums doesn't have an eDGe section but I figured I'd post it here. What will it take for somebody from XDA to make a more stable 2.2 release? I'll pitch in 50 bucks if that's not enough then maybe I can get some other users in on it.
I want the device for modifying PDF's and the e-reader mostly but the concept is good enough to web browse/search the terms and things. I don't except to play any epic games on it, but would like it to run smoother. I have the "big one" Not the Pocket version, so it's the 10 inch screens.
I'd like the ability to install/use the Android Market on it. (not a deal breaker)
Some way to modify the CPU. It has a 1.2GHz CPU but for some reason the software limits it to 800MHz. I have the device rooted but setcpu doesn't seem to work on it as it always does a force close.
I just want it running faster/smoother and maybe a bit more battery life?
I'm not picky.
Thanks for listening and hopefully something will come out of this!

I Followed this thread on XDA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1099282.html
And I was able to get the gapps installed, however the market never worked for me. I went through many google searchs and tried everything I could fine but it never seemed to work.
On top of it though I'd rather have a more stable OS like I said the release is a BETA 2.2. It works fine for the most part but does have it's issues.
If somebody has a different way to install the market, that'll help just the above didn't seem to work for me.
Thanks for the reply!

Hey xda,
I'm new to android. I recently purchased the droid X2 from verizon expecting to have an amazing phone, unfortunately, that's not what I got. What I did get, was a laggy, unresponsive, rebooting, bugged and otherwise annoyingly bothersome piece of electronics.
My main issues are: random shut downs, duplicate messages or empty sent messages, lock screen disappearing so I can't unlock my phone, drastic slowdown, and finally the luck having my music player messed up.
Through my research I have found that solutions to these problems can be achieved by installing a community OS made by people who truly care about how the phone works for the end user. My two favorites so far (from reviews) are eclipse and cm7.
As far as I can tell, I can't use Eclipse because I run 2.3.4 and I am unable to update to 2.3.5 (I have no knowledge of how to do so nor do I want to brick my phone by doing something I shouldn't be). Cm7 however, supports 2.3.4 and has solid reviews. Unfortunately, there are little to no detailed tutorials on how to go about installing this OS. There is >>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315711 and the cm7 install tutorial (21 lines of install this, then this, but don't do this, but do this, btw this might break your phone)
What I'm asking for is if anyone here knows of an extremely detailed tutorial for installation of cm7 on an x2 running 2.3.4 (preferrably with pictures) and that won't brick my phone)
Thank you

This is my first post on here, so I hope I'm doing this right. In any case, in the past month or two I've went through a MyTouch 4G Slide and an HTC OneS. Both phones broke so I've went back to using my HTC Dream(G1 EBI0). I was using it before I got my OneS and originally had CM6 installed with Amon_Ra's recovery. After my OneS broke I switched back to the Dream and attempted to install [CM7][2.3.7]CronMod-Dream on it. I got confused by the install process apparently because it wasn't the same with Amon_Ra's recovery and my phone got stuck in a bootloop. After several failed attempts to fix it I decided to start over completely and went through the rooting process again, but with ClockWorkMod recovery. I got CronMod working on this, but I'm not 100% sure I did everything right. The mod seems to be running slow for me, with google play and some apps taking over 30 seconds to load and using the phone taking over 40 before the actual call went through. I was also having difficulty installing apps and getting force close's. It just doesn't seem very responsive for me in general. I'm also not sure if I setup the partition right for INT2EXT+.
During the install process I did not install adw launcher, DPSManager,or file explorer, or email. I did install 3dgallery, spare parts, and dev tools. (Probably forgetting a couple apps.) I'm including screenshots below to see if anyone can figure out if I did anything wrong. I'm still pretty new to this, so there's a pretty good chance that I did. I just need to have my phone working properly as it's going to be my daily driver until I get my new phone. I'm open to and will be grateful for any advice on how to get this running faster, thanks!
That's how Gingerbread is on the Dream - overall slow. Try a Froyo ROM e.g. DreamTeam Froyo or LMC Froyo. You'll be amazed how much faster they are.

Isn't CM6 a froyo mod? That seemed pretty slow itself from what I remembered. I'm mainly looking for ways I can improve how CronMod runs. I can't really give any input on the mod thread as I don't have enough posts to yet...
