First let me start by saying hello to everyone and how much i love this website for its plethora of information!! I am have attempted for 6 hours today in attempt to fix my problem and will only post a thread as last resort. I have reached my last resort. Here is how it all started....
Today i decided that i wanted to have the new updated Android Market so i could pay for apps using my tmo account. i noticed that my cyanogen 4.2.15.1 and the previous ones before do not use the updated market (from what i have found, it causes some problem), but i was unable to find a way to just update the market. i have also been toying with the idea of switching roms (i have used cyanogen since i rooted my phone almost a year ago) and was thinking of a super fast Hero rom. From my research, i found one that i thought was the best of the best. getting in a little over my head and doing the proper research and educating myself, i jumped in (not a normal move for me, i tend to collect as much info as i can before a make this type of move but i was work and bored ). so i downloaded and flashed a new rom. here are a few things i did wrong:
I did not wipe before i updated to the new rom
I mistakenly flashed a Hero rom for a 32A phone, thinking mine was 32a (idiot)
I did not change my radio or spl's (from what i am now reading, that was a big mistake too)
so, obviously, the rom did not take and it froze on the green mytouch 3g screen for 40 minutes. no big deal, i thought a would just wipe it, then try again. same result. ok, i will just restore to my nandroid backup........unable to restore . panic started creeping in. ok, i will just redownload the 4.2.15.1 cyanogen i had and WIPE and flash it. after attempting this many many times, it still freezes on the green mytouch 3g screen. i even thought of using an older cyanogen, 4.2.9.1 i believe, thinking they use old info that was still on my phone. no luck. i have a feeling i am missing something very obvious and will feel totally stupid when you guys help me, but, i am stuck.
I would love to have a kick ass Hero rom and if someone can explain to me the proper way of doing so with a recommendation of the most kick assey one, that would be greatly appreciated, or if someone can kindly assist me to get back to my original cyanogen rom, that would also rock. thank you in advance and i know you guys will make whole again!

Hello everyone. I’m not new to XDA developers, I have found many helpful threads on various topics that I have came across. However, I am a newbie when it comes to flashing ROMS. I have flashed my Kaiser with a Windows 6.5 ROM, I can’t remember the exact one, but it was supposedly stable on my device. When all was said and done, it booted fine, but came up with some statement saying that “the beta period had expired” or something like that. So I thought, ok I’ll just flash the OEM ROM and browse around until I found one that was right for me. Well that what I did and that when I ran into “problems”. It seems like the touch screen is very unresponsive, even after calibrating it many times. And it also runs rather slow compared to how it used to. I’m not sure if it is some driver issue or what, but as it stands now, I can expect it to freeze for about 15 seconds every 5th time or so that I try to do something. I thought that it may have been a bad flash, so I redid it and got the same results. So I guess I have two questions:
1. What ROM for a Kaiser would you recommend? (I would love it to run as fast as possible and be as beautiful as it could be, hopefully something different looking that the OEM)
2. If I wanted to put the OEM ROM back onto the device, what would be causing it to act like it is?
Thanks for any help/input with this issue, we have the best of the best on these forums, so keep up with the good work.
Before everybody starts screaming at you! LOL
ROM, are ones personal prefrence. So you have keep flashing and reading before you can choose the one that fits your need. The latest ROM's you find here, do not have that time bug.
Happy flashing.
Yes, Please flash roms and find the one that fits you best.. go ahead and go to the Kaiser wiki and grab the oem HTC or ATT rom and restore it back, then happy flashing..

Joshua
Hey Nexus peeps...
I just switched to the Nexus 2 4g coming from my trusty old Evo. I have to admit, things seem much different in this forum compared to the Evo. Mainly, the updates, stock roms, kernels and other things. Seems a bit more confusing.
I was a power user on the Evo, flash-a-holic you might say and was savvy enough to basically handle any issues without problem. Coming to the Nexus is presenting considerable challenge for me. I have a couple questions, any guidance or information is GREATLY appreciated while I settle in to my new home...
Current Set up:
Stock Rom (2.3.4 - GRJ06D)
James Bond Kernel for Stock Rom
What I would most like to do is get the recent OTA that keeps popping up. I understand that I cannot just accept it b/c I have CWM as my recovery, but I can't figure out exactly what item I need to DL and flash. I believe its
THIS ONE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078213
--The one noted as "GRJ22 from GRJ06D OTA"
So I would update that through CWM?
Also, how does the internal storage work on the Nexus? If I make a Nand Backup on the "SD Card", is that going to be a safe place to keep it? I worry since there's not actually an SD card on this phone.
Finally, any recomendations from users on alternative Roms (aside from stock)? I haven't gotten up the interest to flash any custom rom yet.. I was on Nightlies on my Evo so I'm kind of over CM atm. Plus this pure vanilla is kind of nice but I wouldn't mind checking out some other stuff.
As mentioned, any help/guidance/recommendations are GREATLY appreciated.
Awesome...

Yes I see... Thanks for the advice. I did go ahead and flash as I thought it should be and it worked flawlessly. Had a nandroid just in case.
Anyhow, I was unable to fight the CM urge so 15 minutes later I went ahead with 7.1 RC1... Back to CM I go.
Sup xda, my names Bilal and this is my first time posting here. I do have a question though but I've got a lot I want to talk to you guys about
I got my tmobile mytouch 3g about 4 days ago. On the first day my cousin had already told me about this site and how beneficial it would be to me real soon xD. The next day I had already begun looking up important things i needed to know to end up with a custom rom on my phone. I looked up the specifications to my phone (like checking the radio and SPL versions) I found out my phone was a 32B and had new SPL and Radio. I found out the Roms that would be compatible with my phone as well as the method to go about doing it. the next 2 days basically consisted of my going through over like 15-20 different methods over my phone (but all of them basically had the same routine). I mean, you have to root it then get a custom recovery than flash the custom rom. But this is simplified as I'm pretty sure i searched and found 3-4 different ways for the simplified root recovery rom steps. Anyways it was real frustrating since I failed many times on all 3 steps . Anyways with the new SPL Radio 32b Mytouch phone 2.2.1 (since i idiotically upgraded it to 2.2.1) just flashed cyanogenmod 6.1.0 about 30 minutes ago. Haha I'm so excited to see the possibilities.
I wanted to thank this whole site and the people from the unlockr because i searched a ton of guides and Google'd over 50 questions to figure out the process suited for me and even though it ended being extremely easy compared to the people who had to work hard to develop all the things involved in making Rom Manager, Clockworkmod and Armons Custom recoveries, and every easy step in the process that we take for granted. I didn't have a clue in programming scripting developing software or ROM's for anything before flashing my phone. After doing it I still don't have much of a clue even though I feel like I did learn a whole lot I know I'm way more interested in learning how things work.
You could have probably skipped this whole essay and went straight to the question though xD.
My question at this point was what exactly are all the possibilities (or some that I'm not aware of) that my phone has now that it has flashed cyanogenmod 6.1.0
One thing that I have definitely noticed and feel that alone, was worth the 4 days of tirelessly failing, is that my phone has become a lot faster, and I mean in everything that it does, from opening applications to loading videos on youtube. I know I could probably search this as well but I just wanted to advice directed towards me as far as what to do next? Ive been messing around with the themes (can only use ADW as far as I know) but was wonting to find a live unlock pattern screen? I found one on youtube and I'm 90 percent sure the guy had the exact same phone as me. Also any advice on details for upgrading the overall performance on my device would be great help.
Thanks guys glad to be here
Glad that you learned some stuff. Stay around here for a while and you'll learn alot more. Anyways, yes, there are many possibilities available for you. For one, I would advise updating to CyanogenMod 7. Just go here: http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices/htc-slide and choose a category to suit you. NB: The "Experimental" build category is not as "dangerous" as it sound. These build are actually Release Candidates which mean they are almost (if not) good enough to be a Stable build. Since you're just beginning, you may just want to use a stable build for now. But later on, you may change your mind. There are also many apps you may want to try like: SetCPU (to make your device even faster than it is now and/or to save battery life, Titanium Backup, Rom Manager, etc. ADW is NOT the only launcher you can use. It just came as the main launcher for your rom. There are many other launchers like Launcher Pro, etc. For the "live lockscreen pattern, you could try Ripple Lock (Honeycomb Lockscreen) or the sense 3.0 lockscreen found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190071 . Cheers!
Hey people,
This is for us Wind phone users.
SFB is to bring the phone back to a pre-OR rooted state correct?
So we have one for our phones?
If someone has an 2.1 nandroid of just after they rooted and OR installed.. I would really like it.. I think I lost my original.
James
Here's the Stock Wind ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20930893&postcount=59
thank you! I did not find that post in my searches.
I tried to load some of these fake ICS like rom builds last night and crashed the phone.
So I had to go back to stock.. used the Brightpoint SBF .. worked fine, and you know.. after all the playing I have done with the phone.. it was simple and FAST.. but then quickly 2.1 eclair became too simple and I remember why I am playing with ROMS
James
Which ROMs are you playing with? I agree, 2.1 is just not developed enough but 2.2 seems to be perfect for this device. I've played with the CM6 Rom (which would give me random freezes) and the Bravo one (which I'm currently using and is my personal favourite).
you need to keep an eye on the apps you have running in the background
that's why you experience those random slow downs, it doesn't actually freeze
unless you really mean freeze as in you need to wait for more than 5 minutes and still not back to normal and need to take out the battery to reboot
because if it's so, then i don't have that problem
Thanks for the rom I need this.
CM6 was the first I installed and I can't rule out the possibility that it slowed down on me but bravo seems more stable and more polished, like if the phone came stock with it I probably wouldn't try anything else. Not a lot of eye candy, but our device simply doesn't have the hardware to be so pretty. Plus im not eager to use roms that don't use our hardware (buttons, leds, etc.)
Bravo is a really good ROM, no need to apologize.
Hmm I didn't mean to sound like I didn't appreciate CM6. I can understand why so many like it, and I am glad there are people who are willing to give some time to make our phones even better than the day we bought them.
I want to give the miui rom a try too. Can anyone comment on its functionality(especially other Wind users)?

I find that the MIUI rom is a tad slow and unresponsive. The good news is that just about everything works. Lack of memory causes frequent slowdowns and crashes though.
Personally, I've had trouble getting WIND 3g working on everything but CM6, miui and bravo... I don't know why.
hey guys... my question is twofold:
1) i find all the nandroid, sbf, everything a bit confusing... and im just wondering how to use this wind stock rom to bring back my phone to the original wind rom, is it as simple as putting the file into the Openrecovery/Updates folder and booting into Open Recovery and Applying the update? or will just doing that mess things up?
2) a few months back i installed the cm6 rom for xt720, since then ive had huge problems with the radio - such as not being able to make calls or send texts. calls and texts will usually eventually work - depending on where i am, but i have to try them several to several dozen times before they do. i checked out my radio baseband and it is not the same as it should be for wind. will reflashing to this stock wind rom reset my baseband as well? i tried using the baseband update from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1241685) to reset the baseband, but it didnt actually change it.
thanks for anyone who can answer these (noobish) questions
Not sure if you got a reply or not..
With the original ROM you need to use an SBF - I have it, it has been posted here.
Search and you will find the tools you need to re-flash - you need a windows computer, and some software you can download - a clean original ROM cannot be flashed by OR because OR is not in the phone originally.
2. YES putting the phone back to original will be truly original.

Hey guys,
My phone has been acting weird lately. It starts by, lets say, lagging.
I reboot the phone and it gets stuck into a reboot cycle... Great. The only way to fix this is to restore a back up.
I tried reinstalling the rom a couple of times, which resulted into the same problem after a couple days of use.
I've also tried the bubba kernel which, again, resulted into the same problem.
Some specs:
S-OFF, Supercid, HBOOT 2.15, RADIO 1.11
Not sure which ones are actually relevant, but I mentioned it anyways
Any suggestions/questions are welcome. Anything. Thanks for reading.
Well, since you have SuperCID and S-Off you clearly have a basic knowledge of what you are doing. I can only think that it is the kernel or the ROM. I'd never mess around with a kernel, because that is probably the only thing I trust HTC on, that's why I've kept stock. Have you tried another ROM? You might be madly in love with the appearance and the functionality of the ROM, but if it is laggy and is causing you to have to repeatedly restore backups, then you are best off using a smooth one. I also use the CM10.1 nightlies, and I agree with that. If you are seeing screen tearing, then that is not your phone being a retard, that is a known bug that they are going to address. However, some suffer worse than others. My One S is at the grand age of one year and is suffering quite badly from it, yours may not. Also, if you're talking about the RAM dropping from around 350MB at boot to around 150MB in 24 hours, that's pretty normal too.
The screen tearing is rarely noticeable, its actually almost non existent.
Im running the cm10.1 kernel that came with the rom.
I did try ViperOneS but it wouldnt even go further past the splash screen throughout the first reboot after installation in Aroma. Did flash clear fastboot cache and flash boot.img but it didnt work so I gave up on that, lol.
This morning I decided to back up my current rom and restore it after wiping everything, something I only do when installing a new rom. So far my phone is behaving like it should.
I just opened the thread to get help when needed and to get idea's as to why it's behaving like that.
Thank you for your response

Somebody who has a greater knowledge on this subject than me, most likely usaff, will pop up within the next couple of days and give you some better help than I could. I've only known what I'm doing for a couple of weeks, so I'm new at it, but since I'm a bit of a noob I can give advice that noobs will understand. Since you're clearly not a noob, I didn't help that much.
Maybe some more info is/can be helpfull.
Wich nightly you running?
You say it runs for few days, then you get problems, So it runs correct after initial install.? If So, what programs do you install/use (wich might cause tot make it unstable)
Can you tell how you install the ROM in steps.

I haven't experienced this problem in a while anymore. I think a full wipe/reset did the trick before restoring a back up. Thread may be closed
