Multitouch capabilities - Milestone XT720 General

Does anyone know if our phones have the capability for more than two simultaneous touches? If so, how so we activate this?
Sent from my XT720 using XDA App

The phone supports 2 touch points. Test with Multitouch test.

Correct. I wanted to know if our phone can be capable of more than 2. I know that some other phones have been scripted to be able to do so.

Touch Pro 2 camera app?

Does anyone know if the camera app from the TP2 will work on the Fuze? Since I've read the two devices share the same camera, I was hoping the Fuze might be capable of recording video at VGA resolution. Has anyone tested it?
I don't know if it would be compatible without some tweaking to it, since it has onscreen controls, especially since the TP2 is missing the hardware buttons. I'd like to see someone port it though, the ability to touch where you want to focus is really nice.
i briefly looked for a touch pro 2 camera app and couldn't find one extracted.
I wonder if the one from the HD doesn't work.
I thought I had the cab somewhere.

[Q] mileston sbf on droid 2 global phone??

Hey everyone,
first of all sorry for my bad english....
i'm near to buy a droid 2 global, and as a lot of people knows the D2G haven't unfortunately the 720P HD video recording ability... instead the european Milestone 2, that looks tecnically the same phone, same processor model(1000Mhz instead 1200Mhz) and camera, have this possibility.
In this site "and-developerscom/sbf" i have found a lot of SBF to restore some devices, and than the question is, could be possible flash a milestone 2 sbf on the D2G to allow it recording 720P?
If it's possible i know that probably the DG2 will lost the multiple networking ability....
thanks at all!!
Uhh.. The milestone 2 and the Droid2Global are completely different hardware. You'd more than likely just brick your brand new phone. There is no SBF for the Droid2Global yet, so you'd essentially be ruining your phone until someone releases one. Short answer: no, don't do it.
thanks, than before to modify my phone i will wait for a recovery sbf file, but why the milestone 2 and the D2G or the D2 have different hardware?? The cam is not the same? thanks
Why would you want to record in HD if the Droid 2 global records with DVD quality which is better. This is possible because it has a faster processor than the milestone 2. Overall is a better phone.

2 touch points in g tablet?

I have tried several apps with multitouch (Phone Tester, android-multitouch-controller...), all of them show that the gtablet has a maximum of 2 touch points in the gtablet.
I am using the Vegan-tab 5.1, anyone has better results? Is it a hardware or a software limitation?
Dont know if its a hardware limitation, but as I posted in another thread before, this is "normal" imo. I have tested a Droid, Droid Inc, Evo, and the Gpad. Every device else Evo, has 2 finger detection. Evo has 5.
Cheers
Htc G2 has 4 finger detection just fyi

not if its a software limitation and there is opportunity for development...

I've already looked into this in the kernel source code, if that's what you're asking.
It's hard to know for certain, but it appears to be a limitation of the microcontroller code for the touchscreen subsystem, based on the at168 driver code. The raw capacitive sensor readouts are done by this microcontroller, translated into up to two sets of X and Y coordinates, and read in by the driver.
There is some unused data in there - the driver is relatively simple, and we could try debug dumping out everything it can read from the Atmel chip, and see if some of that unused data could prove useful, but I am skeptical that we'd have any luck without re-programming the Atmel. That requires a microcontroller person to figure out, not me.

Evo has either 3 or 5, depending on the touch controller revision (literally 4 characters of hex). I got pwned when I traded in my faulty 002/Nova/.76hboot for my new 003/Nova/2.02hboot... LAME.
Anyway, toastcfh did a thread on it back when they were first figuring the evo out.
Moved to general
mmm. Interesting. The kernel has the option to load new firmware to the atmel chip. These are fairly easy to program, the problem is that we do now have the original code.
Did anyone find specs about the display? If this at164 chip just does the touch display, it may be possible to recreate the firmware if we have the hardware specs.
It may be interesting project,
The at164 kernel code only handles 2 touches, but if you see the driver capabilities (AT168_Capabilities), it sets the handler to 2 fingers *MaxNumberOfCoorReported". This value is written to th nvram that the AT168 reads.
Did anyone tried to change this value? (Something like 4)
The AT128 I2C registers may change when the NVRAM changes. If I were the designer I would have read the capability, and added as may AT168_X/Y pos as necessary. This will shift the registers, but it may be interesting to check.
I have the 002 Evo model and I only have 2 touch points. I would love to have more for certain apps that use more. Is there a fix for this? I've seen many people say that their Evo has 4 or 5 points. Is there a way to update to a newer version?
So I've been doing research on the Gtab on this issue because although it's a great device, I really want something that can do more than 2 inputs. so far what I've found is that the touch sensor in this device is the tango S32 controller shown by this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10062618&postcount=134
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/149/digitizerx.jpg
I found the companies main website and found some interesting facts about the chip. Firstly they don't have a number of touch points listed and it also says the max screen size the chip handles is 5" (maybe this is compensated because the gtab has 2 S32 chips).

http://donar.messe.de/exhibitor/007...1/links/20090226153411-DS TANGO-S32 Brief.pdf
All the videos I've seen concerning the s32 chip have only shown 2 touch points and knowing that there are plenty of android devices on 2.2/2.3 that support more than 2 points I believe I've come to the conclusion that the Gtab is limited to 2 points at a hardware level.
Anyone want to confirm or deny?

[Q] Hack Skype 2.0 To Allow Video Calling?!?!

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.skype.raider
Now that Skype (2.0) supports video calling, but is only limited to a handful of models, can someone hack it so that video can be used on other models, not only those with front-facing cameras, but also with only back-facing ones...?

This seems to have a link to hack.
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/06/skype-for-android-hacked/ (link to http://www.villainrom.co.uk/SGS2/skype045.php)
It seems to be signed with different key, so you must uninstall your Skype first.
If you try it, post results with your device model.
Won't sign in, HTC Legend, MDPI, no front camera. Oh well, was worth a try, considering MY specs.

Doesn't seem to work on Defy through.
Seems to work fine on SGS2
At least - initial test.

How many of you actually use the IR sensor and Peel?

i wouldnt mind using it but since i can only turn on my tv, its basically useless. it doesnt work with my centurylink prism box. there is an update in the market but cant update it.
anyone here using peel to its fullest?
I have set it up with no problem (HDTV, Satellite DVR and Stereo Reciever) but didn't find any real use for it. Its just so much easier to use the universal remote that came with my dish. Also while it turns everything on with one click it doesn't turn everything off, have to do them all seperately.
Peel is just horrid, completely lacks a learn function or a means of importing definitions. A decent ir app that used the transmitter built into the 7+would be great. Possibly a LIRC based app - that would open many doors.

haven't use it at all... useless for me...
I use to use the Peel app before I got my 32" HDTV.
The only reason I don't use it now is because I would hate having to keep pressing input til it gets all the way down to hdmi 1.
Basically, it needs to be upgraded for the newer tvs.
Never used it...their support tells me that there is a bug with honeycomb and ir sensors. They said that the fix is ics and its up to Samsung to release it. Kind of a crumbly response if you're going to bundle a product and not support it.

I used it with a Samsung tv and lg tv no problems,
It also works with a old Sony DVD player I have,
Can't get it to work with the dreambox but this could be due to the custom firmware on the box,
Future support for sky boxes would be great...
Nope. Haven't touched it and no plans to do so.
I tried it out when I first got by SGT7+ and it worked - sort of - with my Toshiba TV and DirecTV. I haven't used it since. Actually I find it more trouble than it's worth. The IR sensor was not one of the reasons I got my Tab and didn't even come into play with my decision-making process. I could live without it quite nicely.
Never.
I think it is totally useless. Even I have couple of devices, but never use. I still can't understand why Samsung spent money to put this.
I also tried setting it up but couldn't get it to work with my setup. I am using Windows Media Center on an HTPC and all I could get it to do was turn on the TV. I like the idea behind it, but making it compatible with so many different setups is difficult. It would be interesting if Logitech bought them and integrated it with their Harmony line.
There use to be a damn good ir controlling software back in my symbian days... Psiloc ir remote i think... Used to control bunch of stuff using it...

I use it when I'm too lazy to get the remote from wherever it was left last. I have a 2yr old LG TV and Dish DVR. Doesn't work with my 16 year old Sony home theatre.
