I haven't forgot about you guys. Today we had a meeting with XDA owners via telephone. Were just getting everything ready before we make a huge announcement. I told you guys I'm NOT going to let you guys down. Just be a little patient.

I'm not sure there are a lot of expectations here to be let down. We know that in most cases you probably wouldn't be able to offer us beta, or even alpha firmware and software to develop with or on. RC firmware and software would be just as much out of the question so we're down to what is already out, or something that is leaked by people friendly to the development communities that take the chance of getting in to a lot of trouble. So I don't really know what you have to offer yet. I am curious to find out, though.
Dear john, you have sparked a lot of interest, we are drooling at the mouth do you have any gingerbread for us, or dare I speak of honeycomb? ;-)

"IF" this where to happen it would be a good thing for both samsung and xda for the simple fact that it would help us make better mods for the samsung community and would allow samsung to release things that are more open to modding and customizations that all of us around here love and enjoy making (or in my case learning to make)...hope all goes well with this.
I am a dubious person and do not have expectations as I am still uncertain as to your intentions and more importantly you identity.
But if all is as you say I would take back to the powers that be, many are obviously unhappy with having to run outdated software in the form of the OS on what was at the time of purchase cutting edge hardware.
Give us a option. Give us a way to open the phone up and flash a AOSP option. A more Nexus-ish approach would be fantastic.
The Mainstream will have what they require in a stock configuration and we the ones that know what the potential of the device is can help you in pushing it to its limits.
Well I'm trying to get my post count up so I can comment in development. Anywho kudos to samsung.
Thanks again John, I'm excited and look forward to hearing your announcement!

Honeycomb is made for tablets so I don't think that really helps us. And I highly doubt Samsung is going to release Gingerbread directly to XDA if at all.

maybe samsung will use us for testing and maybe some tweaking...that would give us a chance to develop on it before its officially released and we would just plain out have it early, cause if you give the devs here like 2 weeks with just about anything it will be fully modded and running to its full potential!!!
props to xda devs!!!
Everyone please come over to this thread.

Hopefully their next approach works out better, they should have known better than to open a topic up to the entire forum
They should probably have moderator's from each device take questions from their users, then they could collaborate and get only the good questions answered. (and you wouldn't have to deal with trolls/flames/etc.)

I suppose the question *since we can't ask specifics* is....
What can you do to help us and or what tools can you provide to the DEVs to help us get every bit of Awesome out of the device that we can.
Put the ball in your court.
Glad THIS thread is still open...
(Does SamsungJohn know how forums work?!?)
ANYhoo... I'm a give 'em enough rope to hang themselves kinda guy and I've actually been recommending the Mesmerize & Fascinate to friends that need new phones based solely on the great XDA community and what they can get those phones to do using only a bread tie, three pennies, and a jar of Cheez Wiz. Kudos to the devs once again!
I had no delusions that Samsung was a great manufacturer... my TV and DVD/home theater unit have had their share of problems... and I was also aware of the OS update delays in other product lines before I got my phone so that wasn't a big surprise either. BUT, I got in on the free phone thing through USCC and (if I EVER get my $80 rebate) I'll still consider being a Mesmerize owner/user a WIN.
What I see here is a classic example of a company that has the OBVIOUS solution within their grasp and they are actively choosing to find an alternative to it that will provide them SHORT TERM monetary gains. They have set themselves up for failure and they have only themselves to blame. Here's a vocabulary lesson for SamsungJohn et al... crowdsourcing
Guys if you haven't read through it, that topic was closed by a moderator because it was an experiment that failed miserably. (because the general XDA population isn't very good at reading and following instruction, and it turned into a huge flamefest.)
John has been confirmed by several sources to be who he says he is (at least works for samsung) and is here working with the XDA administration to (in an organized way) swap feedback with the developing community (on all samsung products).
On a side note Supercurio has been in correspondence with Korean Samsung and has been also pushing for this very thing to happen, but from what I've read i'ts pure coincidence that John arrived when he did.
Anyway, sounds to me like we need to be patient as information IS coming as soon as they figure out the best way to go about this whole thing. This is how I've taken things from what I've read today, don't quote me....

In all fairness Crowdsourceing is what the whole AOSP is about. Android was and is developed to be Open Source. So if a company is reaching out to the community it can't be all bad.
I just think that for the most part a lot of us here are end users.
While I am sure that others like me want to, and strive to learn more, we simply will not be on a par with the current crop of DEVs as they progress as well.
I think the idea of a couple DEVs from each of the respective forums of the variations of the SGS platforms being in contact is a smart idea.
Dcows, Phidelt, and of course JT and many of the OPs in the Samsung Fascinate IRC channel would be obvious choices.
In fact a meeting of the minds in a channel of choice with only participants having voice would be nice as well.
I do understand and hope that SamsungJohn does know as well that most here are simply end users and just wanna know when we will get xxx or yyy ..
I will now go back to my corner get my Java Text out and see if I can learn, learn, learn....
If samsung really wants to get in good with the developement community, they would be wise to make it entirely official, and go to engadget or someone with a press release. If you want to gain our trust, give everyone the AOSP build.
Do I want sammy to be community-minded? Absolutely.
Am I going to trust one guy who says he works for our manufacturer? Well, let's get to the root of that. Do I trust the company who created out hardware? Not at all.

Yeah I frequent the irc with those guys and we're always willing to help people... I think a lot of people come to forums just to get help and information rather than to develop and theme and stuff like we do. It would probably be more beneficial for Samsungjohn to maybe set up a date on the irc and say like "I will be on from x time to y time" and then people can get on and ask questions and talk about things, and more of the power users who use the irc regularly will get a chance to maybe learn some stuff or help out Samsung.
It would also make it much easier to control, if things get out of hand then the OPs can simply kick or ban the culprits.

i know this is not the place for this, i dont even know why am i doing this, but i felt the need to say it: as imperfect as it is, with all our noobs, experienced users, rom cooking just for the fun of it, donations (hell, smb was willing to donate even a whole kaiser!!), advices for free, fun all around, helpful persons willing to help just because we share a common passion...
... all these mean so much to me and in my eyes they are a lot more beautiful than the world we see everyday.
dont know exactly why i had to say this, but please go on and keep it as such. also, thanks to all of you for putting your little brick at the foundation of a beautiful building!
as smb was saying in another post, love is in the air... maybe its the spring...
Although it's a bit twee, I have to agree.
The concept of developers & users sharing ideas and code and actually HELPING each other in return for donations to the level you can afford is a fantastic concept - and one that Microsoft would do well to learn from (amongst others).
The end result is everyone is MUCH happier and the product is much better. The only problem is I suspect nobody on here could make a living from it...
I'm feeling all teary eyed now. But you guys & gals are right. Group hug.
Let's all sing together now.

its not even about money or anything, its about people. just hearing that laurentius spent one whole day (9am - 12pm) to tweak a new rom for us, for you, for anybody, made me think that passion is everything, or anyway a lot more than what people are forced to do for a living.
ive been reading this forum for over 2 years now and remember a lot of things, funny posts, things that, together with the great pieces of software developed, made my day now and then. thank ya all for this!
as you say, this is a silly thread and should under no circumstances stay especially here under the rom development section. kyphur, related to a discussion from laurentius new diamond rom thread, feel free to delete all these.

Agreed, if I were head of marketing for HTC I would pay Dutty (amongst others) to continue cooking roms for our devices.
OMG, sensitive nerds! *turns around and sneaks away*
Just to also add few thoughts on this forum.
This year I bought my first ever PDA, and had to go to considerable trouble to have it delivered here. In a country where the concept of customer support is not yet in existence, and with thousand noob questions, this forum has provided all the help that I needed. So, this forum means a lot to people like me who have no access to official customer support services or other facilities available elsewhere.
My only regret is that as yet, I am unable to more actively contribute to the great community here.
Thanks XDA developers and keep it up.
I've had my phone 2 weeks and run out of things to do to it. Where's the roms? froyo where are you ?

If you're not satisfied with the current rate of development, feel free to put together your own rom or even contribute to current development. The phone is what, two, three months old? Some phones didn't even have root methods for that long. If you wanted an att device that had a background of strong community hacking, should have gone with an htc device. The method of building roms on this phone is massively different and requires time to get everything sorted. And I'm willing to believe a lot of devs are waiting fur for the 2.2 source

I think you are taking this entire thread the wrong way.
I think the OP is trying to say that he has done all he can, where is something new? More things to play with.
Nowhere did he belittle or offend anyone. Nor was anything implied.
I have had my phone for 7 weeks - I want to see even more new ROMs -but in no way am I saying anything about anyone. I can't wait for the first Cyanogenmod either - I am impatient, just like I was when waiting for the Captivate launch day.

Looks to me like you are a good candidate to get in the kitchen and start cooking. That way you don't have to wait around for the roms and we can all play.
I don't think it's a matter of lightening up, I agree the op surely said "where are the roms?" That could have ben interpreted more than one way, which it was. Coming from the op of the forum nazi thread, sounds like you have plenty of time to start cooking and stop whining

Hey gunny, I know how you feel. I too am a bit bored. The rom development is great so far but that's starting to reach it's limit with what devs can do while we wait for froyo. I would love something new to play with. Maybe flash or some awesome game to come along that really pushes this device. Gps fix from sammysung would be nice. I could drive around using that to kill some boredom.
Anyway, props to the devs. Thank god we have some good ones. I would have been bored weeks ago without and with a laggy phone on top of that.
I understand both sides but unfortunately unless you know how to dev we all must be patient. These guys have done very good work and so far it is right on par with the Vibrant, and we all know T-mobile has many more dev's to work on ROMS. With more time will come better products, and all Galaxy S phones will be waiting for a while for 2.2. If Cyanogen comes out soon it shouldn't be hard for Eugene or someone to make a port of it, even if Eugene does not own a Captivate.
There's no need to fight guys, in all seriousness we have the best touch-screen phone on the whole market!
Gorgeous screen, specs, and soon to be a great international community of devs with the whole family of galaxy s line sharing ideas and accelerating the growth of development at a great pace.
Not to mention the soon to be implemented froyo that will not only introduce optimizations and flash, but also allow for a greater use of the phone's potential- spec wise.
Take into consideration the further development after froyo + full lag fix + a COMMUNITY effort of collaboration and I see a really bright future ahead of us.
Personally I LOVE my phone, it does everything I want it to do (I multi-task like a beast!!) BEAUTIFUL camera software.. I painlessly take panoramic shots! What more can you ask for?
Yes some high quality games compared to that of the iphone would be great, but the anti-piracy measures are not on par with the iphone at the moment, so we'll have to wait a little for the big-name app/game developers to step in.

I don't know what you mean by "all of my posts recently have had attitude." I generally answer any questions asked and follow it up with any advice I can offer. threads like this where, even unintentionally, the OP is kind of being dismissive toward the excellent work Unhelpful, DG, eugene (and a slew of others who I have forgotten to name).
it'd be fine if he was just opening a thread to say "I'm excited for something new! can't wait for froyo! woo!" it's that the attitude of this is "I'm bored with all the work everyone else has done." especially when it's someone who doesn't contribute to development (not counting donations, I have no idea if he has donated) himself. I just want people to be grateful for what they have right now... there's no need a open a thread saying "I want more but I want others to do the work"
Dude. Quit reading into stuff that isn't there. As for donated monies, I have indeed done so in the past. Lots. Better now?
And Kaik, I am NOT directing this at you personally, just used your quote. This is meant as a general comment not directed at any specific person....
Ok, I clicked on this thread because I could have written it myself, as it was intended. Which was obviously "Ok, I tried all the mods and now I want to try a new one or an update of 1 I already have."
For instance, as you can see from my signature, I run sre123. Last night, Designgears posted that 123a would be posted that night. I thought nothing of saying "ooo, can't wait, please hurry!!!" because DG knows how I meant it (I hope).
I have only seen a couple of REAL jerk posts, and those were like "hey thanks, your mod/rom broke my phone" idiots. Read the OP's and mod and your own risk, fools!
I have NEVER programmed. I understand what gets done here, having been a pc tech, but I can ONLY help by installing and testing and reporting results. This device and this forum has inspired me to try to learn what the guys like Cyanogen, Designgears, Eugene etc do. But until I learn, I will eagerly await new stuff to play with, much like the OP of this thread.

I wonder why that is. Dosn't seem intuitive that would be the case. TM is a much smaller carrier, with much less coverage. I can't imagine (of course maybe I'm short on imagination) that there are more people on the TM version than the Captivate.
I too am impatient. But the impatience is for the GPS Fix.
Gunny...I'm with you. Seems many people just try to take everything the wrong way. Of course, the fact is, writing things and having them read, the reader doesn't know what your mood is, and it is a fact that if it can be taken wrong, it will be by some.
If I had the time to invest, I'd get into the ROMs. In fact I started to get into DEV. Downloaded the tools, did a couple weeks playing. But my programming has never expanded to Java, and the learning curve is too large, so I guess I won't. I'd enjoy it, but being at the computer all the time is not how I want to spend my time. I already spend a lot of time on it.
Regarding the DEVs, I appreciate them, and enjoy their work, and contribute occasionally to those I tend to utilize and keep using. But that doesn't diminish my right to be impatient. All customers are, no?
I want the GPS fix. All Galaxy S phones come with a nonfunctioning GPS. Froyo will be great to have also but they need hurry up with the GPS. The Droid X and all Motorola Android phones have an awesome GPS out of the box. I'm hoping Samsung gets it together otherwise they're not worth buying if it lacks a feature that most phones nowadays have. This problem from Samsung shows they rush things out to fast and then once they're out they fail to repair phones currently released.
I'll be eating my words if an update gets released within a week though.

From what I have read about Dev's and Tmobile is mainly because Tmob was the first to have Android. Lots of them are familiar from being already on Tmob. But that is just what I have read, does not necessarily make it correct. The dev's for the Captivate are doing a phenomenal job getting us great products.
Highlighted portion: Joking aside since I know you are, if people are impatient they really should start learning how to do this stuff. The intent of the thread missed the mark based on how it was written. We all want more ROM's or theme's or launchers etc...and they are coming but nobody has any say to be impatient when the majority of these dev's do these on a donation basis. How bad would it suck when people continue to feel impatient and the dev's decide to not dev anymore?
Man I gotta say that I am VERY proud to be part of the captivate community. We have alot of wonderful devs and determined people here! With CM7 and MIUI maturing to a rather stable usable state, and I9000 sourced 2.3.3 roms chugging away, things are just getting better and better here all the time :].

You can help them out in the forums, if someone asks a question you know the answer to answer it, the devs really appreciate not having to micro manage the thread and while they are busy with rom updates. That is what I did to help out, I'm now a member of team phoenix because of it.

Now if it only was a light sabor too....
Same boat as broke ass college student so I do what I can with answering questions too.
I got my Captivate at the beginning of the year and I still flash ROMS updates as much today as when I first got it. Its because of all the choices that we have as well as updates (still can't believe we are able to run Gingerbread) that makes this phone great.
If and when I am ready to upgrade to my next phone, looking at the XDA development for the phone is going to sway my decision.

Can't be that broke if you can afford a captivate and beer. Heh
I gotta say I agree, most the people here are to cool. I haven't asked alot of question because I've taken the advice I've seen many times and read read read lol. But when I have asked I got quick responses and never a hard time for asking. So now I try to answer any questions I know the answer to so I can say I contributed somehow. I'm glad I can be a part of the community

i know i havnt been around in a while, but that because we got complete morons making the decisions around xda!!!
Dfgas has been working his ass off to get heinz_57 and MIUI working perfectly on our phones but for some jacked up reason, the dumbasses here that call the shots keep rejecting his recognized dev status that he is applying for...wtf xda!!! major fail! I have watched dfgas go from just flashing ****, to making ROMs that we all enjoy so im making this petition to get dfgas the status he deserves, and if he dont get it...then xda can go straight to hell!!!! thats right xda...to hell wuth you if you morons cant give people what they deserve for their hard work around here!!!!
give dfgas recognized developer status!!!
Make dfgas a recognized developer. I have not had anything but positive experiences from him or any of his work. He definately deserves the credit.
Im with ya Tator, give it to him or there's gonna be alot jump ship from here to other sites. That is the ones that haven't already left. He deserves it. He has really done some incredible **** for the mesmerize and showcase. So show some respect and give him the status he deserves. And if you don't. At least let us on what the protocol is to get that status. What does one have to do to get it?
Agree here also
I rely on his experience and knowledge every day. Once a week I'm looking for the next Miui port. Just this week he released two updates to tweak the build to run better, but all the while building Gingerheinz and Heinz57. For him not to get dev status is absolutely insane. I, for along with many others have already made the switch to Rootzwiki and other sites. If XDA gets their shot straight they may be able to salvage what users are willing to come back.
I'll say this, I've done my fair share of porting theme's/rom's, it's definitely not easy to learn and it is a bit of work to get the job done, and there are certain benefits that the recognized developer status would bring such an individual (the ability to open/close your own threads, etc.) however, I was also turned down as recognized developer when I applied awhile back. I personally don't consider myself a dev, but when I was porting themes consistently and having to update them, it would have been of benefit to me. After I got the denial I thought about it and it made sense to me that they wouldn't consider my work true development, since I was simply porting others work and didn't have anything really original that I was maintaining. (I believe they mention giving the developer a webpage to display their original work for example)
Dfgas does great work, and of course we all appreciate it, it's been a fun learning process for all of us to get to this point and without everyone in our IRC chat we wouldn't even be where we are today. But I do understand why he was turned down, and honestly I don't think the fix is to cry out and complain about it, I think the system could use some improvement to include individuals that are denied due to mostly "developing" and porting existing work/themers (why no love for the themers?). There is a definite need for this type of work to help spread the awesomeness that other individuals come up with, for all to enjoy, and if it wasn't for certain people stepping up and doing what's required to get it working on a different model, we would be left in the dark.

agreed dfgas does great work.
dfgas FOR RECOGNIZED DEV!!!!!
I guess some people are just blind and can't see the amazing work he does (heinz froyo, heinz gingerbread, even gets us miui.) But then again, being blind is why so many devs are leaving this site

Amen Brother.....give dfgas recognized developer status!!!
+1, he deserves it.

+1 Deserves it.
I've already started to use Rootzwiki more -- seems XDA has weird/confused priorities.

for dfgas being recognised as a developer
There appears to be a big gap in the requirements it takes to be classified as a Dev.
Please review & update these requirements and grant Dfgas our Dev status.
Kindest regards.

I found XDA when I was searching for information on how to Root my new phone, the Mesmerize. I knew nothing and I mean Nothing about changing things to make my phone better and more versatile. This site was a Godsend and so are people like Bd Martino, Phidelt, dfgas,BakedTator and many, many others. I don't understand your requirements for Dev Status. All along I thought Phidelt was a developer and was shocked A) He wasn't,B) he was denied Dev status and now I'm shocked you've denied dfgas. He has done great "Development" for the Mesmerize and tons of people rely upon and look forward to his work. I believe he deserves Dev Status and I also believe the Mesmerize community deserves more respect. Have a nice Day.

It does, trust me.
For example, forum rules state that you are not to post anything vulgar on the forum. However in the XDA Noob Video (that you oddly have to "agree" to having viewed in order to register for the site now) cusses twice in it, including using the word ****. Makes a lot of sense right? And the video actually covers the fact to not post anything vulgar and not to swear immediately after saying the word ****. It actually says, "Following the ****ing forum rules. No swearing."
It also mocks "noobs" and calls them losers. I would get a damn infraction from a mod if I called someone a loser.
Like who is running this ****? Monkeys?
Dfgas is a valuable contributor to the mesmerize and showcase development community, he really does deserve recognition for his hard work and time put into it. Please give him the status that he should have!
My question is: How DOESN'T he qualify for a 'recognized developer' status? He has one helluva case for this title. I can understand why he wouldn't be considered for porting Miui, but Heinz 57 and GingerHeinz? It may contain a variety of components made by others, but ultimately he combined all of those elements with his own. He named it, he maintains it, and of course offers his own personal support for it. I ask again HOW DOESN'T HE DESERVE THIS?
Please review your decision and make this right.
+1 He deserves it!
FYI.
Think what you want about the guy, he kept ROMs moving when there was only two guys working on our device. I for one will miss his work. He pushed development away from shades of stock and in interesting directions. He is moving to a Samsung Galaxy S Epic II.

He might have been the King of Kang, but he did some good stuff with the phone. Dem ROMs.
That's a bummer, I know a lot of people enjoyed his work. I however will not miss his attitude, I stopped using any of his work months ago because of the way he talked to people. I much prefer to support Blue, because he is very helpful, and approachable, and is always respectful. I am bummed for the people who enjoyed Undead's work though.

Being a developer is stressful. I for one would have his same attitude if I was a developer. He did have a bad attitude at times but he supported his work to the fullest. No other dev for DS can say that.

Who cares about his attitude?
I've never encountered him acting out on anyone, granted I've only been in this community for the past few weeks or so, but does that matter?
He was great at making roms, and graciously released his work to all of us. He even kept up a great update schedule. Devs are not here to be your friend or guidance counselor. And they also have no obligation of being nice to anyone. Releasing their work to everyone is nice in itself.

It is my right to think he had a bad attitude and boycott his work. I also didn't like him cutting out common features from a rom just to make it faster, when this device is already fast enough for anything I need it to do, so I choose to use something else. I think no matter what anyone does, they can be respectful when talking to people. That doesn't mean being a friend or guidance counselor, it just means being respectful. Also there were other issues that caused him to get banned from xda, so I am not the only one who has an issue with the guy (just sayin').
Anytime a dev leaves a community, it's generally a bad thing.
I totally respect the fact that he put a lot of time and energy into building these ROMs, however, I never really felt like he *owned* any. Most developers tend to build a ROM that they use, and improve it. Undead built like a bazillion ROMS, and I never felt like he really personally used/supported any of his creations.

Every time.
I think the biggest impact would be to out counterparts in the rootzwiki. Without him, I think that forum is gonna go quite... quiet.
Meanwhile, I don't think it's a good idea for members in this community to be flaming at each other--we're supposed to support each other, aren't we?
It sucks that he left (here and mt4gs in general) - whether we regard him as king kang, or DS's savior, but we'll have to move on. I'm probably gonna write him a PM over at rootz saying thanks for his contribution for MT4GS later today.
You know, I couldn't help but chime in here; I'm a freelance developer, and don't get to develop a lot for anything but work. So this brings me to a short manifesto (sorry I'm a marxist and I like to use the word when I can), even though it's just a list of observations I want to share:
1) No 'community' is better without someone [I hesitated to say anyone ]
1a) I feel this attitude is such a contradiction to the intent of
open-source. In other words, open-source, just not open-attitude.
1b) I'm not trying to be insulting, but I find it funny you
comment on the red-herring of someone's age, when I would think
someone closer to my age (I'm gathering you too are a gainfully employed
adult; we'll just say closer to 40 than 30 =) )...so I try to liken it to
working with people you don't necessarily like; caveat here is no ones
making a lot of/any money, so try to be a little more appreciative and
a little less judgmental (think off all these peeps work as a favor). Which
brings me to...
1c) "...he got into deving for this phone for the wrong reasons. This was
inevitable. I'm surprised he stuck THIS long." We need to get together
and start a business if u can read minds, and what the "wrong reasons"
for learning rom development might be...well I'll be thinking
on that one for a while
2) Is this even verified? I'm about to PM him and ask....he's been nothing
but polite and cordgial from what I've seen.
3) "That is the kind of quip Undead would regularly let go. And why???
Completely unnecessary." Ever occur to you that the community(YOU)
should complain about the post and get it removed? If it's that
bad it will be?
3a) Personally, I'd rather devs work on what they do best, bringing
us great ROM's!
3b) Maybe the community needs to police itself a little, your post
seemed to be pointless, IMHO; I mean, apparently you don't like
this guy, but I bet you use his $hit.
EDIT: Confirmed, he's finishing up some of his current stuff and moving on to another device...even mentioned the XDA rift as one of the reasons...guess you can make software open-source, but peoples' attitudes are just as big a barrier.
That's all...soap box is someone else's now

Wow. I'm impressed. That was very well said. FYI @_atlien_ I'm 27. I just got no patients for peoples stupidity. I pmed undeadk9 a long message. Thanking him for the time he did develop for us. Also @_atlien_ It is YOUR attitude and YOUR Stupidity asking bout unmarrying android and Google was by far the most stupid request I've even seen on any forum. YOU bring out the worst in people. Just saying. Rather then pointing fingers at undead why don't you look in the mirror. When people ask stupid questions it tends to piss off people. The community would actually be better off without YOU. Not undeadk9.

Technically it is possible to a certain extent. Just don't install any gapps
Ive never even seen anything undead released, i just got this phone last weekend, anyways its always sad to see a developer leave the scene, i come from the evo shift forums and we had some good development but nothing was updated and maintained there was always a new release that never seen updates, and i stepped up and did everything i could for them, and it was a very rewarding adventure....btw never sell anyone short because you all just got a couple new users than can dev a bit lol
