Web screen scrolling/lag issue - G Tablet General

Hi all,
I have been using TnT lite 4.2.x for a while now, and am very happy with it. Well done to the developers.
An issue that I am experiencing is scrolling when viewing webpages, especially the xda website. The screen when scrolling is not that smooth. I tried as an experiment the Vegan ROM and found it much smoother when scrolling.
Has anyone else noticed this too? Apart from that (not that it is a huge issue), the ROM is great.
Thanks in advance.

Running 4.2.3 and also notice this.

Just bumping my own message with a question.......could it have anything to do with Flash content? Do the Vegan Rom and TnT lite Roms use different flash players?

You need to use a different browser. Use dolphin hd.

[Request] Switching tabs in stock Browser

I use Dolphin Browser however I really like the stock Browser since to me it feels snappier than Dolphin.
The only reason I keep using Dolphin is the smart way it allows me to switch tabs by swiping in the direction of the next tab. Is this something already implemented in any of the custom ROMs? Would it be possible to implement a similar mechanism on the stock browser?
Thanks for your replies.
Nope, this is not currently implemented.... in the CyanogenMod at least and I have not used any other custom ROM. That is a great feature of the Dolphin browser and hopefully the stock browser will one day "borrow" it.

Yeah definitely - I really don't use gestures that much so tab-switching is the Only thing that keeps me going back to Dolphin...

FYI - Latest Version of xScope Browser is FAAAAST!

Just a heads up. Have always been a fan of xScope Browser but gave it up for a while as the new xScope 6 seemed buggy to me.
Not sure what has changed with recent updates, but the latest version is FAST, really really FAST. Also, lots of cool features. Anyway, check it out in the market. The bookmarking feature takes a little getting used to as it uses HTML to represent bookmarks, but I'm sure that is one reason it is so fast - less overhead. When working with bookmarks, the controls for how they appear are on the bottom of the page. You can do icons, lists, etc...
Also, it has tabs and if you press and hold a tab, all kinds of cool options appear.
Tried it, slow. Im running calkulins 1.6.1 and its about 4 times faster than xscope. Are you rooted ? It is faster than a stock ego but in my opinion its not even close to rooted.

Isn't calkulin a rom? xScope is a browser. How can you compare the two?
He means that the default browser in caulkins is better then xscope

I m using Xscope 6.21 and I am unable to view /data/ folder using its folder view. Though I can see all apks in /system/app. Is it supposed to not show data folder?
I've always been a fan of xscope, it has great media download options and a nice simple ui. Latest update supports themes, so expect for nice themes to be rolling out like the older versions. I think its built based off the stock browser just with some extra features.

Is it possible to change the default google search from international to local(Aus)?

browser lag when scolling and screen accuracy

Anyway to fix these by ediiting the prop build and anyway to adjust the red level in the screen.
These are killing me and driving me nuts!
browser lag is most likely Flash 10.1, install the latest flash or do what I did. Change flash to On-Demand in plugin settings for browser.
and I'm sure there is screen changing things you can do, but I don't do them so can't help ya.
It's not browser lag with flash its in scrolling text btw I have flash 10.2

I noticed the red tint today also when my friend was comparing my G2x to his Nexus S...
The page moves quicker if you just move your thumb top to bottom then if you try to fling the page that's what I'm talking about(
Just did browser tests on my galaxy s running team whiskey versus g2x and I am convinced that this browser is not using both cores of the processor

obviously since dual-core is not supported on the OS level, it's like having a dual-core processor on windows 95 machine
WHY are you using default browser??
Use xscope or miren browser! They work much better.
I'm not experiencing either of these issues. No red tint, and the stock browser is smooth as silk.

No.
I was just coming here to post about the browser lag. Noticeable lag, BTW.
I went into the T-Mobile store earlier today, factory reset the display G2X (I always do that now, since people like to say "phone prolly was runnign 20 apps from all the other people that played with it") and put Flash to On-Demand. Go to WMPowerUser.com (there are MANY others where this happens), open a blog post and scroll. It's choppy as ****. The Vibrant has the exact same issues (slightly worse). It happens on tons of sites, and I don't think Flash has anything to do with it.
I don't know what the issue is, but I'm about to start looking at the HTML coming to the browser (user agent spoofing on a desktop) to see if it is choking on on some specific elements.
I also noticed the data speeds were simply terrible, slower than my Vibrant (had both my Vibrant and HD7 on me).
Google needs to realize that the overall user experience matters more than how many milliseconds advantage your browser engine has over the competition...

Because there are applications/features that tie into the stock browser and using a third party browser just breaks the overall cohesiveness of the user experience.
I've never heard of XScope and didn't think Miren still existed, though, so thanks for that info.
Opera Mobile 11 is better than both of them, and supports Flash...
BOTH browsers are great. MIREN has an option to adjust brightness within the browser which I like to use at night. Xscope has a great developer and has nice features as well. Try both than pick one and un-install the other. Than when an app requires stock browser you will be prompt to select which browser you want to use as default, choose miren or xscope and its that easy!

The Samsung stock browser has independent browser controls, and does stuff like chrome to phone work with those third party browsers?
I already use opera as a secondary. The others are useless to me.
The constant pops to choose an app front every app with links is county. I like to avoid that situation.

You can change your user-agent setup in the LG hidden menu. Try that and see if it works better.
Look at a logcat when you are browsing around. Absolutely not surprised that it is lagging.

I thought it had a lot of red tint at first, too. Actually your friend's NS is the problem. The colors on the G2x are accurate.
I also have significant lag in the browse as well. Really annoying to say the least.

Flash Video Fullscreen broken since ICS

im using the revolution HD 3.0.0 rom and have tested this with 4 different browsers, but ever since I got ICS i cannot use flash video in fullscreen anymore. windowed works fine but assoon as i want to expand to fullscreen, no matter what website, the sreen just stays completely white or black but the sound still runs.
already searched the forum, none of the hreads offer any solutions.
anyone else havint his isse and know any fixes for this? other than that ICS seems to run quite poorly, maybe its the ROm im using but i have frequent app crahes etc.. i want to stay with ICS but it seems very broken.
I have never run into that issue and have used various ICS ROMs for the Transformer.
Hell, I really haven't run into any problems since using ICS based ROMs on the Transformer. I have noticed improvements more so than bugs since updating the Transformer to ICS.
EDIT: I just tested the fullscreen Flash video and it worked perfectly fine. I was able to fullscreen the video and go back to the regular view without any issues. Also resized the webpage to see if it would crash.. nope.
I upgraded to revolution HD 3.2.1 now, still the same issue.
I dont get it.. im using the most recent flash player, wiped the tablöet before upüdating..
so whats different for your tf101? what rom are you on? have you tried several websiteswith flash video?
Yes, and I have used several ROMs. Stock, Revolver, Android Rev, AOKP and now Megatron 1.0.4.
Are you installing some flash .apk you kept around for whatever reason? Or are you downloading it from the Market? If the former, I will smack you.
no im using the flash from the play store so the most recent one
now on revolution 3.2.0, still having the same issue.. any help?
You could try flashing Guevor's Kernel and the Nvidia codecs, they help out flash video play alot.

Web browser slow with ics roms

I have tried several ics roms and the Sense browser and Chrome are slow, take a long to load a page, white spaces while loading, fuzzy text while scrolling or pinch zooming... Everything ok with ginger roms
Is this a known issue with ics or am I doing something wrong?
It's ICS - needs a newer kernel to address these display issues.
Try JB - the stock browser is pretty good, though Chrome has problems.

I don't like Sense, so the best ROM for me at the moment is this one:

If I'm correct there is also Webkit Hw acceleration which
cannot be enabled on ICS roms without some additional work on the
recently released kernel source.
also there are a lots of alternative browsers.
For Example:
Dolphin... ( especially the beta which is VERY fast)...
Opera.. Maxthon...
I Don't even use the stock one

Tried that setup and better than ics but still worse than gingerbread. Hope this week's kernel gives a clue to fix that
Its a common ICS problem. Its one of the things Google fixed in JB. No kernel or such will address this issues AFAIK. Sense ROms are already using the official kernel.
Try loading dailymail.co.uk on ICS, it will always lag. But on JB it is smooth. The same also applies to my Tab, so I don't think its a ds issue
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda premium
Seems it's about the opengl rendering enabled, tiles rendering etc in Android >=3 You can type about:debug in the url bar, then in options go to debug and uncheck enable opengl rendering. That will make the browser to behave like a gingerbread browser
The opengl gives smoothness on scrolling or zooming, but at the same time I think I browse faster with it disabled. Maybe out gpu is not fast enough?
Give it a try and comment...
Still slow with jb?
