[Q] Will the Inspire work on Rogers/Fido in Canada? - HTC Inspire 4G

Given that Att and Rogers use the same gsm frequencies, I suppose this phone will work on rogers. Does the fact that this is a 4g phone change anything? The inspire is 100 bucks cheaper than the telus desire hd which is available in Canada. So if this phone works on rogers (including 3g), the inspire is a more logical choice.

Yes, just be sure to buy it unlocked, or find an unlock code.

I'm thinking of picking up one of these as well

HTC Inspire 4G works great under Rogers!
Hey! I recently bought the HTC Inspire 4G and it works well on the Rogers network. This is to confirm that I have data in 3G, and voice+mms services. The phone is magnificient!
EDIT: Note that you will need to set the Data APN and MMS APN.
For more information google "apn rogers mms" and it should be the first nexusoneforum result.

[Q] Unlocked Captivate can't see/register on Bell network

I just acquired an unlocked AT&T Captivate.
When I put my Bell Canada sim in I can not see/register/connect to the the Bell Network.
If I put my wife's Roger's sim it connects right away and when I enter the Rogers APN info it connects fine to the 3G network.
With the Bell sim in there I cannot even get to the menu for automatically or manually selecting the network as the meni option is grayed out/unselectable.
Any ideas? Are there other Bell Captivate users out there?
edit: with the Rogers sim in there and if I manually search for a network it list Rogers and a 302610 network which suspect is the Bell network as the MCC is 302 and MNC 610 for Bell
maybe video? i wanna see it
is the sim itself ok?
My cap runs fine on bell... I have the network selection part greyed out too but it picks up signal as soon as the sim is in place
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I am assuming the SIM is fine. It works in an unlocked Telus Hero and an unlocked Rogers Magic. What video would be helpful? Of the settings screen or the no signal icon in my notification bar?
I get no errors or warnings with my Bell sim in there. It just won't find the network.
(and thanks for confirming that there is at least one other cap working on Bell)
My plan is to get Froyo on here anyway. Is changing the ROM or Kernal likely to impact this issue at all?
which band does bell use? which modem you use? (euro or us?)
Bell uses 850 & 1900 - my understanding is that they are same as the Rogers frequencies.
I am assuming I am using a US modem. How do I check the modem? The phone is an AT&T phone that did arrive in my hands rooted and unlocked already so I suppose something else could have been done to it.
more details:
Baseband version: I897UCJH7
Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
build number: ECLAIR.UCJH7
Anyone? I've tried different modems and ROMs including the Bell i9000 modem/rom for the Captivate. Its almost like my sim is bad but I know it works in my htc magic.
well in case some one else has this problem it was the SIM. Apparently there is a problem with a batch of Bell SIMs - they had me swap to a new SIM and I connected immediately.
Woo Hoo!

[Q] HTC Panache on Rogers

I have an HTC Panache from Mobilicity currently using Mobi's AWS network. However, on HTC's website it says the phone can also be used on a GSM network.
Since Rogers uses a combination of GSM and HSDPA, would I not be able to get internet on my Panache through Rogers, or would it just be slower, or...

Non T-mobile Sensation on T-mobile network

I've been keeping my eye out for used Sensations to replace my Samsung Galaxy S 4G. The big attraction to me is being able to run ICE.
I have a pre-paid plan with T-mobile. I see some Sensations offered that were meant for Canadian or European Carriers but are unlocked.
I know they will work on T-mobile at 3G GSM, but will they make use of T-mobil's "4G" HSPA+ like the T-mobile badged models?
Also, how about ROM's? Will developer ROMs for the T-mobile version work on those?
If you get one and have any issues then you can simply change your CID for TMOUS or supercid and then flash the 1.50.531... RUU.
There are no hardware differences so you'll be fine.

Z710e not working on optus - though not locked

Got a z710e unbranded sensation yesterday. It was working on vodafone and it works fine with telstra. Though as soon as i put in an optus SIM i get No Service (I have tried 5 different sims!).
It was completely stock 2.3.4. I have now Rooted, S-off'd, SuperCIDed, Sim Unlocked and put on the latest firmware package and android Revolution HD 6.6.7 and it is still the same!
Is it possible that there is an overseas model that simply cannot see the Optus network (Frequency perhaps?)
When i turned it on it defaults to English Singapore i can of course choose America though no australia existed till i put on the Revolution ROM.
Would appreciate some help
Thanks in advance.
no love for sagey?
Do you have the box for it? Will (hopefully) list the freq's it can work on.
According to Google, Optus uses 900/1800 for 2G and 900/2100 for 3G. Sensation 2G is quadband, so you should get that no matter what though.
I presume you bought it second hand? It's possible that it's IMEI has been blocked on Optus, I guess.
so odd.. i have confirmed its not blocked or locked to any network. it just doesnt work..

[Q] convert HTC Sensation Z710a in to Z710e

I have a HTC Sensation Z710e rooted and S-off with custom "Android Revolution HD" ICS ROM. My wife has a HTC Sensation Z710a with an official ICS ROM. We are both on dinosaur Rogers network that gauges on its clients planning to switch over to WindMobile. The problem we are having is that my wife's Sensation won't work on WindMobile network. It's because WindMobile operates on AWS 1700 band that is supported by Z710e model (HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100) but not by Z710a (HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100).
Going trough all different threads in Sensation forums I am getting lot of conflicting info so my question is; if I root, S-off and install Android Revolution HD ROM that comes with it's own radio and essentially converts regular Sensation in to Sensation XE; will my wife's Sensation Z710a be able to support AWS 1700 band as well?
Is it only software (firmware, baseband, radio) or actual hardware that differentiates Z710e and Z710a models? Both my wife's and mine phone look exactly the same unbranded HTC Sensations...

I am not posting this question in Android Revolution HD ROM forum because this question is applicable to any custom ROM. Is it only software (firmware, baseband, radio) or actual hardware that differentiates Z710e and Z710a models? Both my wife's and mine phone look exactly the same unbranded HTC Sensations...

Whilst you can run the have the same ROM and Radio versions on both phones you cannot convert Z710a <-> Z710e. They have different hardware for the data frequencies.
So in simple terms if your wife want's full 3G functionality she'll need a new phone. She'll still have Voice and Edge though.

Hello, I'm from Argentina and I have an almost unused Z710e, if you want we can change if your wife is in the same state, greetings.

We were testing the functionality of both phones in WindMobile store and my wife's phone only connected to their roaming partners. I am not sure if above mentioned company even utilizes regular GSM frequencies... Perhaps the reason why they are so affordable is that they run VOIP all the time as long you are connected to theirs network. So although we spend 99% of the time in their coverage area, she would be paying roaming for everything (voice, text, data).
I am getting some info in different thread that I will try to act upon and see how it works. I am really desperate to cut all my ties with Rogers. I used to have cable TV and internet with them as well (now cancelled) but they keep on screwing customers more and more.

That perhaps would be the best thing to do in order to get what I am trying to achieve. My wife's phone is only 2 months old, essentially new...
I've decided to purchase last year's model for her because although being fan of HTC products I would never buy a cellphone without mSD slot (that's what I've hated about my HTC Diamond before). I am just a bit worried about possible issues shipping phones back and forth between Canada and Argentina. Is there someone in Ontario, Canada interested to trade Z710e for Z710a?

GSM (voice) will work fine for both phones on all networks as will EDGE (2G data) on all networks, the issue is the 3G data side of things. So I don't know why GSM doesn't work it certainly should. They both have: Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz. The Z710a/Z710e difference is purely in the 3G side of things.
Re-reading your post, ahhhh VOIP == Data usage. If they purely use VOIP then you're stuffed, I'd be surprised though but I can't comment on that network.
Have a look at: http://www.gsmnation.com/htc-sensation-z710a-3g-850-1900-mhz.html
Then Network Compatibility -- Canada
Unfortunately they seem to have removed the Z710e phone, just invert the 3G ticks/crosses for it.
