[Q] Sears refurb/reconditioned GTab? - G Tablet General

I'm considering buying a reconditioned/refurbished Viewsonic G Tablet from the Sears Outlet. I'm intending to install Vegan 5.2 beta, Titanium Backup, etc. as soon as I receive it. Before I pull the trigger, I have a couple of questions:
1. Do I need to be concerned about what version of the hardware I receive? I went to a local retailer (not Sears), and discovered that the hardware model # on their display model was UPC 300-2.2. I've seen messages in this forum about some GTabs in circulation being UPC 320-2.2. If I get a refurb, might it be an earlier, undesirable hardware model? Is this a concern?
2. For HDMI connection, is there a patch cord available that will connect directly from the GTab to my TV, or will I have to buy a dock to make the HDMI connection? Where can I get the patch cord or the dock?
3. Is anyone experiencing low screen touch sensitivity on their GTab? When I was fooling with a demo model in a local store yesterday, it seemed quite unresponsive, almost as if it were a bad resistive screen. Today when I went back to play with it some more, it was better.
4. How sensitive is the wifi reception on the GTab? I.e., compared to your other wifi devices in the same setting, do you get strong or weak reception on your GTab?
5. I'm aware that, when shut down, the GTab loses track of the time. So, I would probably just turn off the wifi and put the GTab to sleep when I'm done using it. How long does a full battery charge last with the tablet asleep and wifi off?
6. Is there any capability that the GTab loses with Vegan installed? Do widgets work okay under Vegan? How about under Vegan with ADW Launcher?
Thanks!

It doesn't lose time when shut down. Get Gojimi's screen recal app. As far as I am concerned you gain functionality when you root and add a ROM. I use Vegan tab 5.1 and am very happy. You need a dock for HDMI

There are several threads in the accessories section that tell you how to get a dock and as far as I know there isn't a patch cord hdmi cable that you can use instead of the dock.
The wifi seems pretty strong. I'm using vegan rom beta 5.1 and I love it.
I do feel the gTab's touch sensitivity isn't as sensitive even after gojimi's screen calibration app when compared to my iPad. Though I love my gTab and like my iPad if that tells you anything.

Got my GPAD

Well I took the plunge and got a GPAD yesterday and like everyone on here said TNT and the factory ROM leave much to want. So I installed the VEGAn ROM and that combined with launcher pro, and I have a tablet I will most likely use every day. Couple of things like the presence of phone icons and settings I wish were not there, but I can live with that. I really wish Viewsonic listens and even ramps up code development. TNT should be removable, and what ever make the VEGAn ROM faster should be implimented by Viewsonic. Comparing this to the iPAD (Which my wife owns) I will take the viewsonic any day. I like the ability to add widgets to the home screen which allows me to make it useful for day to day use.
Couple of questions:
1) I have no WiFi at work, but was thinking if I could somehow use the USB port to act as a network interface, that would be nice. That way I can keep the calendar, email, etc. in sync. Is this possible?
2) I really would like a case for it, anyone found on that does not add much bulk, but will protect the screen and case?
3) I notice that Viewsonic on Twitter has said an update is coming soon. When this happens I assume a new vanilla ROM will be posted to see what changes were made. Going to the VEGAn rom I think I will miss the automatic updates, but if going back to the stock ROM means TNT and lack luster performance I will stay where I am.
It's cheaper and easy to buy wireless router at work and just use wifi on gtab.
No auto updates in any of the mods (TnT Lite, zPAd, cm6.1, VEGAn). If there's an update in the next few days, I will be watching for it.

WiFi is technically not allowed around here. I figured if I could just hook up the USB cable to my laptop and somehow share the laptop web connection that would be perfect.
I know back when I had a Palm M515 I could do this via the USB port and a PPP connection.

[Q] How often do you use your keyboard dock?

Getting my 32GB today via TigerDirect. Hoping to get a kb dock soon.
For those that have both... what configuration do you use the most? What percentage?
Do you store them connected or separately? If separate, how do you store them? (2 sleeves, 2 cases etc etc)
During the day at work, I use mine as a notebook, i.e., tablet docked and plugged into A/C and with a USB mouse. When I go to meetings, I undock and take the tablet for short notes (and keep in notebook mode if I think I'll be taking extensive notes). At night, I undock and put into the Asus sleeve for use around the house. Then, when the family's asleep and it's time for writing, I dock and use until I'm done writing. I then plug it into A/C to charge the tablet and dock, and rinse/repeat the next day.

I use mine NEVER. It doesn't work.
Waiting on the fix. E-mailed the Asus guy, no update for mine yet.
Anyway, they fit together very well and I got a 10.1 netbook sleeve when I bought it from TigerDirect.
Everything fits in there pretty good.
95% of the time it's in the dock. The only time I take it out is to play games. I, personally, don't see how anyone would enjoy using it for other stuff without the dock. To me, tablets are awkward to hold and to type on. The dock provides a more natural viewing angle and you can just sit it on a desk or in bed and still see the screen without holding it. Also, with the dock having a battery that nearly doubles the battery life of the TF and the shortcut keys and the trackpad gestures, etc..., I really feel like I "need" the keyboard and not just "want" to have it.
I did get the firmware update yesterday and no longer have the keyboard freezing issue.
For any sort of productivity (read: emails and document creation) I use the keyboard. Most of the day I keep it docked. I actually use the dock as a means to charge the device. When I'm heading to bed, I take the tablet alone and use it to browse the web and watch some shows on it. It's much easier and more convenient w/o the dock when in bed. At this point, I usually keep the dock plugged into the wall to recharge overnight. This way, when I dock it in the morning, the dock charges the tablet. The cable as it is is way too short for my liking to charge my tablet overnight. I'd have to get out of bed to plug it in as opposed to just putting it on my night table.
Mine stays in the dock by default. I pull it out periodically to do portrait mode type stuff, but it usually ends up back in the dock shortly after. Yesterday I tried putting it in the sleeve and just using the tablet. Not as useful, but I also had out the big laptop for doing work and I didn't need a netbook.
If you always keep it docked, why not buy a netbook instead?
Because then you'd have a netbook instead of a tablet+keyboard?
I keep mine docked most of the time, but that's because I like how it's more protected when it's closed up. When I want to read or just browse around, 2/3 of the time I'm undocked.
I dock it for class to take notes and if it needs a charge.

I keep mine docked most of the time and I still use the touchscreen quite often. I don't use the trackpad much so I disable it most of the time. I use the keyboard a ton. I now find myself reaching for the screen on my work provided macbook pro 3 or 4 times a day.
I had a netbook and tried it with XP and OSX as a hackintosh and I wasn't too happy with the touchpad or keyboard as the only input devices. Compared to a full size laptop keyboard the transformer is not so hot. Compared to the onscreen keyboard of a tablet it kicks ass.
I really think this device has hit a sweet spot.

That's funny about reaching for the screen on your Mac. I find myself doing the same thing on my Sony notebook. I never knew how useful having 3 input methods on a computer could be until the TF. I use the touchscreen mostly for selecting stuff on screen, I use the keyboard for typing and shortcutting to apps and I use the trackpad for scrolling mostly.

Frankly, I'm bored with Windows and wanted something different, faster and less prone to viruses, but I didn't want to give up the convenience of having a keyboard. Plus I have an evo 4g and like Android, so having access to the Android Market on a device with a keyboard and a large ips screen hit a sweet spot for me.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Have been using it for 5 hours so far, and most of that has been with the dock. I see this being the default mode in the future. That's also pretty much what I expected - I post online almost as much as I read, so having keyboard there is very handy.

Because there are no netbooks out there with 15-hour battery life and an IPS screen. And the fact that I can use it as a tablet when that is more convenient (e.g. to read stuff, or to play Angry Birds) is a very nice feature to have, as well.
Great answers.
I could have asked "Why is the TF better the Xoom/Acer/Galaxy Tab 10.1" and I would probably get the same answers The new Galaxy Tab 10.1 looks cool, but TF + dock is a better deal.

Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus running HOT - anyone else?

Love this tablet but this last few days it has started to get really warm on occasion.
On the left side, about an inch in from the SD card slot, the temperature really builds up quickly starting first on the back of the device and eventually getting so hot on the glass it becomes uncomfortable to hold and to swipe. I've seen 48 degrees!
I have noticed this happening when using Dolphin HD browser and particularly if Skype is running in the background.
I wiped the tab, didn't reinstall from market and just loaded Dolphin and it didn't make any difference.
I'm guessing faulty device since there are only a few isolated reports of this online.

Really strange, Phil. Based on your recommendation in "other" forums I turned in my Nook Tab and got a GTab7Plus and I'm just lovin it. Does everything I'd hoped it would do and more I haven't even figured out. So far, (knock on wood) I haven't gotten the Screen of Death nor has the unit gotten hot for any reason and I'm using dolphin browser exclusively. So......you may have a defective unit. Good luck.
Yeah, I think it was faulty. I took it back to Best Buy and they had not had any other returns for this issue.
Unfortunately they are also out of stock so I don't currently have a tablet at all! Seeing what is coming down the pike in the way of tablets I might just wait and see what transpires in the next 3 months. If I get antsy then I'll just pick up another GT7+ (or back to a Nook Tablet if the CM9 project advances quickly).
Also, do you see a color cast on yours at all? I noticed that when there was a white background, for instance reading a book on Kindle or Nook apps, the right lower side of the page had a warm tinge - pink/peach colored. It was quite irritating.
Having issues with Nook app opening my Nook ebooks.

I have received my 7+ and downloaded and installed the Nook and Kindle apps without a hitch. The Kindle books are fine but I seem to be having a problem opening my Nook books. Darn, I am in the midst of a great book and hate reading on my phone.
Any tips on how best to install and manage my Nook ebooks? And, I have a 32gb sd card which I haven't installed but plan to tonight. Will that make a difference? Should I "format" the card before installing on the 7+? How does that work?
Thanks a bunch!
I noticed on the nook software that I needed to open the software and then reopen it before the book would load. Second time is a charm I guess.

Mine as well, in the same location as you specified too. Gets damn hot in that location with I'm using it in the car for navigating with Google Maps and it's plugged into the charger. Also in the same scenario the charge level is still going down and not up
I' ve been using VTL Launcher and had some previous issues with my home wifi (couldn't reconnect so my tab was always trying to find it again and again). After resetting router and mainly uninstalling VTL Launcher my tab stopped to be hot and battery life increased rapidly. So I was almost decided tonreturn it due to this problems but since then everything is finally ok and start to enjoy this tab (previously had GT7 original and Note).
Regarding navigation with google maps- consider that there is also huge use of data amount so warmness is probable. I'm using Sygis Aura and has no problems with hottness and also not original car charger has enough power to charge on the roads.
So far haven't noticed the tab getting hot. Just trying to figure out how to use Kies. What a friggin nightmare! Why have they not simplified the Kies interface? It is so convoluted!

Interesting - but mine was totally stock. Yeah, I had added a ton of apps but it was running regular TouchWizz. My little Nook Color running CM7 has exactly the same apps and doesn't even get warm.
what are you using kies for? my computer (win 7) didn't recognize my tab until
i installed kies, it also installed drivers so i can now transfer files
To FloridaPhil: And how long is your battery life? Is wifi ok? Well I' ve noticed then, that our tab doesn't have still very apropriate task managing and this can be causeb exactly by this. Take a look in settings, applications and battery use...I couldn't believa my eyes but even I'm using good task manager with automatic shutndowns of slected apps, there are still huge amount of running apps that drain battery and may cause getting hot. Next thing as well was a fact, that even when wifi connection held perfectly, there was still word 'searching' each couple of seconds (take a look in wifinsettings...)- so next possible reason for getting warm...

It's only searching because your at the wifi settings screen. If you are at the screen where different wifi networks can be selected, android (logically) thinks you might want to select a different network, so scans. If you STAY on that screen, it assumes you want to keep scanning (why else would you stay on that screen?)
This is something that all wifi enabled android devices do. It's NOT scanning every few seconds if you aren't on that specific settings screen...
Gary
Thanks Gary for reasonable explanation, yes this is logical. I was just confused from this, cause not Galaxy Note, nor previous Tab or Streak was behaving like this. But is true that this is my first honeycomb machine and I may not realise this before or it had been different in settings.

My Galaxy SII (gingerbread, AT&T, SGH-I777) does this as well. Even my iPhone does it.
I'm using Kies Air to wirelessly transfer and synch my contacts, calendar, etc....... Experimented and have transferred photos and some other files. Also worked using the USB cable and my Windows 7 recognized and installed drivers. It recognized the SD card as my E drive.
Regarding the heating up issue, so far I have not experienced this. The battery use is under control when I turn off all wireless when I leave my home.
Getting used to the Touchwiz interface but I also installed Go Launcher EX and use that sometimes.
Video playback is awesome on this little tab; last night I was watching movie trailers and was surprised with the sound as well. The Nook's sound was always a bit weak.
I installed an anti-glare screen film and it is awesome for reading. Doesn't detract from the beautiful display and the fonts are crisp.
Regarding opening my Nook books I realized that it worked as soon as I installed my SD card and I downloaded my books so I wouldn't have to deal with having a wireless connection to read my books.
Playing around with the wallpapers and customizing the Samsung screens and installed a super cool "steam punk skull" live wallpaper and it is amazing! Found it free via the Amazon app store....it is fantastic! I also found other beautiful live wallpapers via the Amazon app store including snow scenes.
The tab connected flawlessly to my Samsung Galaxy 4G T-Mobile phone's access point and used that to stream Pandora and download some Kindle books. It was done in my office which doesn't have the best T-Mobile network access and it was surprisingly fast and smooth. No stuttering of the music and emails and Facebook worked great.
I ordered the 6' long usb cable for the tab via Amazon and it has shipped; hopefully it is well matched and charges up the tab just as well as the stock 3' shortie cable. I noted other comments regarding the slow charging of the tab and found that turning off the wifi or simply shutting it down speeds up the charging dramatically.
So that is my report so far and let me say I am enjoying the 7+ tab immensely.

Well i guess thats pretty normal, mine goes up to 42C sometimes.. I guess it depends on your surrounding and climate.
You sure it's a normal thing (this temperature range)? I'm here in Thailand so the ambient temperature is hot to begin with, but the thing is; with prolonged used my hands get uncomfortable.

Crazy Screen Lag when docked, perfect without...

I was ready to return my Transformer. The lag was unbearable (for a brand new device), it would stutter, even some videos of mine would flicker. I use the dock a lot, and was ready to give up. I undocked it - and all is right with the world again. Same videos (off micro-sd card) that were previously stuttering are now playing beautifully.
I was scared that it might be a hardware error, but I know now that this is something someone can fix! Does anyone else have the same issues? I love the dock, and bought it for increased functionality, and would LIKE to use it as a mini-laptop a lot.
Just curious.
Thanks.

I've noticed this on the desktop screen and in the apps and widgets list, but in my case it was connected to either using touchpad or USB mouse. In this case changing the launcher from stock to custom (like Apex) helps, but I'm not sure this is your case (hope it is, but I haven't noticed any lag when docked and playing videos)

Lucky. What "mode" are you in when docked? And you running full IPS? (Or 'auto'?) I have no idea what it could be. It's not soo terrible that it's unusable, but it's definitely noticeable and annoying even for simple operations. I keep the system clean, not much running in the background. I'm confused - but hoping that future ROM's will optimize the I/O (if that's the cause) when docked.
Thanks.

I barely use IPS+, normally I use it indoors at about 30% (regular IPS mode), but I doubt it's the real issue. Try a different dock maybe (as I suppose you're on .26 firmware already). Not much else we can do remotely, try different dock, try different tablet, update firmware when possible, factory wipe if nothing else helps, or simply send it back. You should be able to watch the movies the same way when docked and when not, so if there is a significant disproportion between these two, I'd consider returning this unit (bundle).

OP are you experiencing this problem on your Infinity after operating it after a cold boot up with the keyboard dock attached, or is your tablet already on and you attach it the dock keyboard and experience this issue?
I think I've seen this issue sparringly in my case, attaching it to the dock while on, but not often because I always keep my tablet docked. In most cases this did not occur when I would re-docked with minimum programs running on the Infinity.

I actually haven't tried starting it up without the dock attached (as I just realized what was going on last night) - will try that and report back in a few hours. Thanks for the suggestion!

So, I tried a cold boot and plugged the dock in, seemed fine at first, then started getting laggy again. So, I noticed that whenever I put the dock in, you get the message about using the standard keyboard that matches the ASUS hardware keyboard. (I had Swype enabled.) So, that got me thinking Swype could be a problem. I never knew if it was optimized for tablets, or whatever. So, I disabled Swype, and two other software keyboards just for the purpose of troubleshooting (SlideIT Keyboard and SwiftKey) and am just using the stock keyboards pre-installed.
After disabling those keyboards - for now, the lag seems to have been considerably less noticeable. Of course this is all anecdotal and I don't have any true measurements or stats run to determine anything concrete.
Thanks for the suggestions!

[Q] Would you buy Asus Transformer TF700 today or something else with the same money?

Hi,
I want to buy my first tablet and I am looking for something with 9-10 inches screen and sure android based. So far I decided that the Asus Transformer TF700 is the answer for me (the 32 GB version) I am wondering whether there are other potential good tablets with the same price tag or this is the best one can get in this price range.
Thanks.
Right now I would wait if I could reconsider. See if nexus coming with a bigger tablet.
This isn't a horrible tablet yet there are serious issues and Asus seems like neglected us

I would buy it again. We've got some great ICS and Jelly Bean custom roms (some are a work in process, but almost there--good enough to be my daily driver) and the official JB update is coming soon. I guess ASUS quality assurance leaves something to be desired, but my tablet and dock are great and I'm very happy with the Infinity.
2 weeks in to owning it and i would buy it again. I have not noticed any physical problems with my device.
I kinda wish i would have tried a 7" so that it was easier to carry around at times. I still think that I would want to have this device in the end. I love the I/O connections(kinda slow) but very helpful when I am shooting video with a bunch of GoPros outdoors. Now i don't have a carry a full sized laptop just to manage the files.
Sadly, I returned my third TF700 back to Amazon yesterday. Between the loosely mounted screen, the poor wifi reception (despite being a few feet from the router) and the multiple-times-per-day reboots due to icon disappearances and crashes, I couldn't justify keeping it.
With that said, I have every intention of buying it again once JB is officially released for it. The tablet display is gorgeous and I love the overall weight and form factor. I could have lived with the slight display mounting issue but I couldn't get around how laggy and crash-prone it was.
I have JB on my Galaxy Nexus and the performance is stellar and given what I've read from TF700 owners who have added a custom JB ROM to their tablets, I am confident that once an official ASUS build is released, most/all of the software problems will be resolved. Right?
Ehhh...
I'd buy again.
Probably try to get a champagne one and 64gb...of course the money would be more.
I really want to get another Acer A700 because the price tag on that tab is steadily dropping.

I have JB on my Galaxy Nexus and the performance is stellar and given what I've read from TF700 owners who have added a custom JB ROM to their tablets, I am confident that once an official ASUS build is released, most/all of the software problems will be resolved. Right?

It's looking good. We're just at the beginning of that road, but there's a lot that can be done. Better luck next time!
As it stands right now, I suggest you should hold on to your money, Asus tf700 is a big disappointment for me. I was so excited about this table, and now NO ONE in my family wants to use it. The only thing good about this table is the high resolution screen, but maybe this's the issue, the O/S is not optimized for this kind of resolution? who knows? Anyway If you really like this table, wait until they released Jelly Been and check back to this forum to see it indeed Jelly Bean will addressed all the issues. Don't listen to the people that claimed they love their tables, maybe a few out there claimed that have a perfect one? but the odds will go against you. Not worth 600$ the way it works right now.
I'd buy again -- love the connectivity, love the screen -- lots of storage space. Furthermore, I have few issues with mine, and the keyboard dock is the absolute hammer for me -- typing and an extra battery. Seals the deal!
I love it, and would still buy it
I would still buy it also.
There are only four things that annoy me so far:
- It takes a few seconds for the keyboard to initialize, so you have to wait a few seconds with enter the code
- Tegra 3 seems to have a little strugle with handling 1920x1200, especially compared with CM10 (JB) on my Galaxy S2
- Android interface, especially in 3rd party apps is not yet tailored to use with a keyboard
- USB and SD going in to sleep together with the system, so I cannot charge my phone via micro-USB and it has to re-initialize SD every time (I like to have a setting for this)
Judging on what an improvement going from ICS to JB (CM9 --> CM10) made for my SGS2 I expect most of these issues to be resolved in the future with updated software, so I'm not woried.
What I absolutely love:
- The size as a small laptop and the detachable 'screen', and using the touchscreen (it draws attention when commuting in the train ), the aways-on just like a phone
- That it doesn't get hot - at all (unlike my Galaxy S2)
- Brightness of the screen, and it's resolution
- The good battery life when used in conjuction with the dock (which is how I use it 95% of the time)
I really don't like saying this because I have had very good results with Asus products I have purchased over the years. I would, buy a Samsung or a Toshiba. I am thinking about returning it again and just doing this and having it over with once and for all. I know they aren't as nice as the Asus but I sit here everyday and watch my wife do everything SHE wants to do on her Toshiba AT105-T1032 while she simultaneously laughs at me plodding along on my quad core super tablet. Opps, gotta go now she wants to see who's will boot up first from power off. I loose everytime, man I'm getting tired of doing the dishes every night

FYI - there is a "solution" to problems 1 & 4: If you want to be able to use the keyboard instantly after turning in on and keep your USB port on the dock active when the TF700 is in standby, you can do that by disabling the "Mobile Dock Battery Saving" mode in Settings->Asus customized settings. Just make sure you back out of the settings screen in order to make the setting "take effect". This will also allow you to wake your TF700 with the keyboard dock (instead of using the power button).
The downside is that your TF700 will never enter "deep sleep", so your battery will drain faster in standby mode...
I just tested this and was able to charge my Nexus 7 from from TF700, even in standby mode.
So, there already is a setting for this....
Regarding the keyboard, I've yet to have any issues with the keyboard in third party apps - could you please elaborate?
Hope this helps.

I love my infinity, the keyboard dock is just what i wanted
The IO issues of tegra3, poor Asus customer support, Bad warrenty coverage (everything is CID), and high fail rate make me sad tho...
Would i buy another one? Not likely. I'd prolly stick with the galaxy tab 2, Samsung may not update as quickly howeverits very easy to flash custom kernels and roms and loooots of options there.
If only we could get the Asus tablet with Samsung level QA and workmanship. Lots of people bash how "plastic" Sammy devices feel but i have yet to have one fall apart on me
Yeah, I think that Asus was more concerned with form over function with the TF700 - they were so worried about being the thinnest and lightest tablet (along with being nice looking) that they were just too hard to actually build!
We'll see how things go in the future, especially with Jelly Bean, but I just get the feeling that the TF700 isn't going to stand the test of time. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

Had my TF700 64gb 5 weeks and yes would buy again, very good screen as I use outdoors mostly in very bright light 7inch would just not be big enough for me. Had the occassional reboot but so much better with a cold reboot once a week thanks to the advice on this forum.
No loose screen or noticable light bleed, wifi connection in comparison with my Samsung Gio is just as good if not a little better.
I did not buy the model with the keyboard dock as it was not available at the time of purchase and still a little nervouse about getting one due to the screen crack issue but have invested in the Anker Archos3 battery which is great if you are out for a full day and need that extra bit of battery power.
This is my first tablet but have used an android phone before, did not want to go down the Apple route seems to be more of a fashionable item to buy going back to the ipod days and that sort of thing always puts me off.
There are always going to be problems with an early adoption of any device so far I am a happy user.

Actually that was one of the first things I did Because I use my tranformer as a PC replacement. I didn't want to push the unlock button every time. The SD-card still powers off in this mode when the screen is of and there is the delay when typing in in a password or code from the keyboard.
I've btw done a lot of optimizing by now on the stock rom -for which you need root access - Disabled a great bunch of programs, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897099. Also I now disabled some more programs, replaced the stock launcher with a lightweight alternative (Holo launcher HD), and replaced all media related programs (Gallery, Google Play Music, Videoplayer) with lightweight alternatives (Quickgallery, Clean player, BSplayer which serves as a youtube substitute as well). This allows you to disable the media storage process alltogether. This appears to take a great load of the Infinity's shoulders and it now is starting the feel and behave like a state-of-the-art PC system in terms of speed and input response BTW Office Suite let's you use the cursor keys and shift keys in it's spreadsheet editor and is not laggy unlike it's competitors when using this input method (Quickoffice, for which I still had a licence and Polaris which is preinstalled). Also Dolphin Browser beta is not laggy when typing from the keyboard like Firefox Beta, next to that it allows you to use the scroll wheel on a external mouse and seems to perform better on a optimized system than FF beta (which was my prefered solution when I still had my system less optimized).

Hmm, I'm a little confused now - the OP stated that your USB port won't charge your phone, yet you say that you have already disabled the "Mobile Dock Power Save Mode"? Or are you saying that you disabled that *after* posting the original post? Like I said, even in standby, I can still charge USB devices with that mode disabled...

In my situation:
- Screen on: It charges my phone over microusb
- Screen of: nope
Also a sd-card in the docking station is remounted every time the screen goes on.
Mobile battery switching mode is de-selected.
When it's enabled the keyboard can also not wake the tablet, have to use the power button on the tablet itself then.

Strange - that's how mine acted before disabling the mobile dock battery saving mode, but after disabling it,my tablet will continue to change my devices even when screen is off and I can wake my table my simply touching the trackpad (even if it's disabled). You may want to try enabling and re-disabling the battery saving mode, making sure to exit setting after each change....
