[Rom Add-On] Performance Pack For V1.08 Firmware - Vega Android Development

Hi All.
Edit: Do not use with v1.09 firmware, it is not compatible
I have been looking at the gtab update and it appears that most of the tegra drivers have not been updated with v1.08. I have remade the pack for that firmware. The quadrant score remains the same at 2400+ but i have noticed a big improvement in the overall smoothness of the device. Games like angry birds and 8ball seem to play smoother. Also, it might be me but iplayer also looks better. Please try it out and report any feedback.
I have packaged it as a update.zip so it can easily be installed on any os. Clockwork Mod is not required.
Install Instructions:
1 - Download Performance_packv1.08.rar parts 1 and 2 and unzip them (you only need to open one of them), Copy peformancev1.08_update.zip from the performance folder, and place on sdcard of device.
2 - Navigate to settings/software tool, and browse to Performancev1.08_update.zip.
3 - Run the update, the device will reboot and a "out of the box android" will appear, after the device will reboot.
4 - Check the pack has installed by navigating to settings/about Device, under the model there should be "performance pack".
Please make sure you have sufficient power to apply pack, i would recommend 50%
You will not lose any of your apps/data from this process.
Sorry for the 2 .rar parts, its the only way to fit it onto site.
For the v1.06 firmware performance pack, look Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908200

Cheers mate, good stuff!

thanks
modaco 1.08 r7 and Performance Pack is coming too

Thanks alot mate giving it a go right now

That was reported in my earlier performance pack. It does not appear to affect other games, and the overall speed increase more than makes up for it. Maybe it will be fixed from updates for the pool game.

Hi,
Applied the pack and it it seems to have made things quicker. However, I'm starting to get random screen corruption. Horizontal lines are appearing. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

The graphical glitches are a problem of the v1.08 rom, i got them before i made the performance pack. I also get them in v1.09 just not as bad.
Something for advent to sort out

I think I installed this version on 1.09 firmware and it won't boot now how can I fix this please

You need to re-flash the official v1.09 firmware. Hold down the power button for 6 sec. Then plug device into power and connect to pc with usb. Hold down the back button for 2 sec then while still holding back push the power button for 2 secs, hold the back button for further 2 secs. A new device will pop up in your hardware manager under usb. Then run the stock v1.09 rom. Hope you backed up your applications with the software tool in settings.
You dont need this performance pack with v1.09.

where is the link to the pack for 1.09 software thanks

No performance pack is needed with v1.09. Its faster than v1.08.

v1.10 definately does not get the lines, I thought I was imagining them until just now, so I may well have to put my graohics module back to stock 1.10 from the myadventvega rom. Thanks for the pack, and where the hell is the thanks button, it won't let me thank you...

Take it easy.

Gonna be a stupid question but...
which ROM is this for? Will it work / do anything on VegaICS?

Yes, this IS a stupid question.
NO, it will NOT work with VegaICS and has nothing to do with VegaICS or any custom ROM.
This is purely for STOCK v1.08 firmware (Android OS v2.2 - Froyo).

so far so good. after i had flashed my defy it took a long time to boot. first welcome message was an com.android.mms error nevertheless the rom runs good.
someone could make a video of the result and as an example upload it on youtube? Pardoned my not good English!
Gonna flash this on my girlfriends defy after a revision or two. Shes not a power user so she would freak out if the rom force closes or has bugs. It looks great! Is it gingerbread or 2.1 themed?

Just put beta 3 on and it looks like wifi is broken. I switch it on, then it turns itself back off again. This behaviour wasnt there with beta2, it worked fine with that.
Keep up the excellent work!

I was a bit quick to mention that... i rebooted the device and all is working fine and all of the previous minor gripes are fixed too... top job! One thing i would like tweaking... is it possible to change the text colour on the dialog boxes (example google acc setup) you have white on very light grey which is barely visible.
thanks again.

can you post a screen shot plz? and thank you for you feedback!
JBoogie beta3 works fine for me =)
Yes i found this too although not sure how to do a screen capture.
I can explain though... start new text message and click to add name. At the bottom where it says 'done' the button is grey and text is white. So the text is hard to read. Normally the button is dark grey and the text is white.
Hope this helps. I will buy u a big beer if you can get 2.2 up and stable.

[KERNEL] CorvusKernel 0.2

Hi all
I have a new kernel for you.
It has all the features that kernel in Corvus5 rom has plus:
1) Blue light fixed
2) CPU overclocked to 1.5 (see picture below, we beats Xoom )
3) Xpad added to kernel (not more module load)
4) May have some less battery draining, but not tested.
About overclocking, if you have setcpu installed, press menu, select device and choose that setcpu autodetect freqs. It really works. It may work with any other cpu overclock utility, but is not tested.
Install as allways with CWM.
Link: http://www.multiupload.com/BOCMUM8TWP
Link (for STOCK): http://www.multiupload.com/EWW24XJO9E
NOTE: By default this kernel OC the cpu to 1.5Ghz. I try to change to 1Ghz, but doesnt work. This can harm the cpu if is always at this speed, so install any of the oc tools (setcpu, CPUMaster, etc.) in market to change it back to 1Ghz.
Corvus.
PS: Thanks to Buzz and pershoot for the work they made in the kernel...
BTW do u have any idea what te standard use of the blue light is there's no cut out in the frame for it ?

hi fella,
thought I would give it a go anyway. Flashed zip from sdcard via CWM...
Boots back into rom fine, but the screen is working back to front. When I'm in horizontal mode.. the vega shows vertical and likewise the oposite way.
I've used the rotation lock which allows me to use it the right way and the touchscreen still functions ok. I have also downloaded an app called CPU Master Free. I ran this before the flash and it said 1000Mhz.. now after the flash it says 1500Mhz.. Awesome.
so it's working, just wondering if you have any idea a rotation being back to front.

1500mhz BABY!!!!!! thisis really cool.....
What is the speed in the test, I'm getting 4625 on CyanogenMod 7 set at 1400Mhz(build 61)

I have the same problem.
Screen rotation problem is due to stock ROM. Corvus promised me to make a version of this kernel for stock ROMs as well
My solution for the moment:
After boot I turn my Viewpad until the screen is in the orientation that I want, then I switch the screen lock to on. Good enough for me, as I use my tablet 99% in landscape mode.

[Mod] Sony Xperia S JellyBean Adreno Drivers [Need dev help]

Original post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34049640&postcount=17396
Xperia S (lt26) Source tree here:
https://android.googlesource.com/device/sony/lt26/
Heres a flashable zip containing the Xperia S JellyBean Adreno drivers.
I take no credit for these files, infact I would like to thank XirXes for finding them and N10AP for figuring out how to make it work.
MAKE A BACKUP!
Flash the attachment in recovery. Check my findings first to see if you don't mind losing video playback and some glitches..
Let us know how it works for you - better or worse?
My initial findings are that:
1) It fixes the need to disable HW overlays to play shadowgun deadzone and dead trigger without glitches!!
2) It seems to cause a green image when you take a picture using Camera app, the picture comes out fine though. Maybe we dont need all the binaries?
3) When transition into loading screen for games occur it causes some visual garbage.
4) Breaks video playback
Pretty sure the official adreno drivers from qualcomm that are included in bruces cm10 build are jellybean drivers.
infact i'm sure they are. These will more likely than not make no difference.
EDIT: https://developer.qualcomm.com/mobi...phics-optimization-adreno/tools-and-resources
They do make a difference in shadowgun and dead trigger, but we need to figure out which files are causing the camera issues now.
Thanks for your input.

Ah okay, if they make a noticeable difference i could be wrong. Guess a dev's input is needed to fix them up a bit
For start try removing this libs (Restore original ones) to fix glitches.
Code:
libmemalloc.so
liboverlay.so
libgenlock.so
libQcomUI.so
Leave rest.
Dont have JB now to test for my self.

Yes it is possible to install this, I would only use it on Jellybean CM10 based roms though.

No, I flashed back to original CM10 and then flashed modified zip without those files.
Managed to get it to boot by removing 3 of those files from the zip. It appears to need liboverlay.so.
Still got all glitches. Thanks for the help though.

Yea, you would need more graphic libs from that Sony Xperia S rom to get rid of glitches.

I have to goto work for a few hours so can't do any more work on this for now...
Did anyone figure anything out while I was gone?
I'm glad to see some experimentation with these. I wonder if we can get anything useful out of the lt26 source tree too.

Thanks XirXes I'm sure that will come in handy. Its all a bit beyond me to be honest. Simple file replacing is about as far as my knowledge goes lol

You need to wait till the download on the site completes, then you get an option to save it.
The link has no problem.

What bug?

TL;DR - If you want a ROM with a different look to CM and still want a "classic-style" launcher and a good set of built-in apps, this is a great ROM.
Longer story...
I flashed this ROM to my phone this morning and so far I have been very impressed. I don't like the stock Android "Halo" look, so this ROM's appearance is a nice change. I first made a mistake in flashing the wrong GApps package but all was good after I flashed one for the correct Android version - gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip.
In terms of features, it has all that I usually want from Cyanogenmod, plus a few extra features:
Two styles of lockscreen, including lockscreen notifications
Online themes "store"
Online wallpapers "store"
Gestures support, including my favourite - adjusting volume by moving two fingers up or down the screen
Swipe to wake support
Power management app
Data usage monitor app
Launcher is fully-featured, including folders support (both on the home screen and in the apps drawer), uninstalling from the app drawer, a variety of smooth transitions
For built-in apps it has almost everything I want:
music player
notes-taking app
clock (including stopwatch, world clock, timer)
calculator
torch
sound recorded
compass
It has an app named "Backup Restore" in the 'Tools' folder but it FC'd when I tried to launch it. It also features an app named "Cloud service" which supposedly backs up your contacts, SMS etc but I haven't yet tried that.
In using it for only about an hour I have not seen any FCs, except for "Backup restore". I don't like the notification area because it has the shortcuts together with notification messages and no apparent way of changing that. It's a minor point, and perhaps I could find a way through searching Oppo forums.
Hint: If you are looking for some of the native settings you would expect on Cyanogenmod, go into the 'ATX Settings" app and select "Stock Settings". I don't know what "ATX" stands for in this case.
Question - Does anyone know what "MiPop" is? I have doen some searching but can't find an answer.
The first screen shown is in Chinese.. Anyone knows what buttons had to be pressed in order to submit a new registration?

Assuming you have flashed the ROM, then a GApps package, I believe you see two options, each with an icon. One features an icon that looks like a cog, while the other looks like a black box with some sliders. If I understand correctly, the cog icon is for the native ColorOS setup, which you do *NOT* want to use as it is in Chinese. For a standard CM setup, select the icon which looks like a black box with sliders.

I have just two questions...
Is anyone else using this ROM?
From what ROM is this ported and can we see that ROM's home page?
Android version - gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip.

I honestly can't recall just where I download this GApps package. I think what's important here is to be sure you are using a compatible GApps package, which is where I went wrong previously.
I have done some "hacking" of this ROM, removing unwanted APKs and installing an alternate keyboard etc. Not "hacking" in the true sense. I have done this to try and reduce the size of the ROM as it is much larger than CM ROMs. I have not yet found just the right files to remove. In my current installation, everything except gestures works, so I have obviously removed something that should not have been removed.
Please do go ahead and try it out. I would love to hear what you think. Until now I thought I was on my own with this ROM.

Try these

I never could get the rom into English without blindly flipping through all settings until I found it.
On top of it, then not all settings were in English, some were still in Chinese.
It looks like a promising rom but until it is completely in English or German for that matter, I wont be trying it. It was too frustrating to work with some Chinese screens.
