Hey guys and experts,
I was browsing through the forums and I came accross the radio thread. I'm extremely confused with it and I'd also like to improve the performance of my 3G and all that. I've been looking around the site but I haven't found anything like an instruction or guide on how to do all that stuff. So I'd like to get some help from you guys if you don't mind.
1) First of all, in regards to version numbers, higher number does not mean it's better right? My radio version is 1.02.25.32 and my 3g reception is spotty and so are my calls sometimes.
2)Another question is, due to the fuze being my first winmo phone ever, when you guys mean security unlock, do you mean the phone being able to use any sim card from any carrier or does it carry a deeper/different meaning. I did get my phone unlocked by calling ATT and asking them for the code in which I provide the IMEI and they gave me a code, the problem is, I'm not sure if it's the same "unlock" that you guys are talking about. (the radio thread said something about having the word security unlocked on the tricolor boot screen, but my phone has the stock ATT rom in it, so I suspect that it might now show)
3) I'm probably inept at searching through forums so I couldn't find any thread that has full instructions on how to change the radios and all that. I'm wondering if anyone can point me to such a thread on how to do that.
I do apologize for such a long post and also the possibility of this question/request being asked already. If you do read through to here, thank you for your time, I'd appreciate any help that is provided.
Higher doesn't necessarily mean better. The poll results give a pretty good indication of overall happiness with any given radio. Based on that, I ditched .32 for .28.
Security unlock is more than SIM unlock. In addition to being sim-free, a security unlocked device can load the radio ROM from another device family.
Check the flashing guides. Essentially, you must load hard-SPL first. That allows you to freely load radios and roms. Always do your research before loading a radio rom though! Radios are the hottest battleground of the spy vs. spy games played by Operators and XDA developers. Operators don't want you changing radios or ROMs and they are always coming up with software that won't allow itself to be changed. If you flash a radio on that has this issue you could be stuck with it. So far, I don't believe any of the radios in the radio thread have issues. You must security unlock before flashing any non Raphael radio however.
Gotcha. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me. I'm going to test out a different radio so that maybe I can get better reception. I spend most of my time on edge for some reason.
EDIT: I just noticed that installing HardSPL will clear my PDA of all data. I'm wondering if Sprite Back up is good enough as a backup program or do you suggest something else. I did a bunch of tweaking on my fuze like the PTT remap, camera tweak, network selection, etc etc.
Oh, I did forget to ask what's the favorite back up software for the XDA forum goers. I'm looking for a software that will back up all the tweaks and stuff that I did to the pda before I run HardSPL
*bump to page 1*
1 last bump.
Suggestion on back up softwares please?
I don't think HardSPL clears your phone of all programs and data. That said, I tried to search on that to be sure but couldn't find any confirmation.
Obviously, flashing a ROM will definitely clear all data.
Dunno about flashing a new radio.
There was a particular warning on backing up your data before flashing HardSPL, so I wanted to be on the safe side, the main thing now is that I'd like to find a back up software that will back everything up (registry changes, programs installed, various settings) pretty much everything I did.
I have in the last month been looking everywhere for methods of rooting this blasted thing.
Yet again samsung is stopping me accessing regular features, things like accessibility permissions...it's ridiculous.
I am sick of the crap in this new android and I can't find a safe method or odin build anywhere.
At this point I really don't care if I trip knox, though maybe that is ignorance and frustration speaking.
What are the risks?
If anyone has a way of rooting this build number please let me know.
My carrier is UK's O2 network if that makes a difference
Let me know any other info you need.
I have rooted many samsungs before so know the general jist.
But this model seems super hard to deal with so please take me through any safe - ish procedire as a newb.
Pleases and many thanks.

I have the exact build number as you, and I rooted pretty simple.
I just used odin v3.10.6 http://odindownload.com/download/Odin3_v3.10.6.zip (Direct Download)
Then flashed Unikernel onto my phone using Odin (Opening with 'AP' of course) https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347808101
(and obviously don't forget to put your phone in download mode!)
Used this method a million times before and never had any problems, should work fine
Hi everyone.
Me and the wife have Samsung phones and what I usually do is buy a sim free phones a lot cheaper from different countries which usually comes without the extras like Wi-Fi calling ECT, but what I usually do is flash network stock firmware which gives us what we need.
My problem is that I only know how to flash firmware on Samsung phones and windows phones (which we don't use anymore). Even though samsung are doing well and making very good phones these days I don't want to be stuck buying Samsung just because I don't know how to flash stock on other Android devices. I would like to try a pixel, HTC, Essential phone and ect but I want to be able to buy it cheaper and be able to flash stock firmware.
Samsung seems to have a massive advantage with companies like Sammobile and Odin but I wouldn't know where to start with the other Android devices.
So finally my question (if you put your answer to match the right number be easier to understand)
1. Where do you get stock firmware for other devices (if there different places for each manufacture then please tell me all the place and who covers who)
2. Are there different Odin types of software for each phone company.
3. How do I do it and how hard is it compared to using Odin.
I know there is lots of video and other threads with this type of information but I find posting a new question makes it very personal to my situation and I know the info I get will help my better than reading someone elses thread and working out how their advice given applies to me. At the same time, I will try and make this thread as universal as I can so we can maybe help others in similar situations.
Thanks guys I hope I can learn
All I'm finding with search term xt1042 is stuff about switching the radios, but let's assume I just want to stay on USC and root/rom the phone. Most all the info I see here is for other versions of the Moto G.
What can/can't be used on the XT1042?
What's the recommended root method, and how do I spot compatible ROM's?
So much good info on XDA but sometimes so hard to figure out the stuff that others think is obvious when I jump into a different phone's forum...

The difficult part is that not all DZ09 watches can use the same stuff, it depends on your particular version of DZ09.
This seems to be the most active thread here for that device, try asking the experienced members there. Maybe someone there can point you in the right direction.
