Hi All,
I have an issue with my Opera browser and Flash. I can't find anything else posted here in a similar vein, so I'm posting a new question - apologies if this is a duplicate.
I have Opera 10.00 installed on my HD2 and was getting annoyed with how it always defaults to mobile sites when the screen size on my HD2 (and connection speed) is sufficient to browse sites in desktop view. So I followed the advice on this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5786377&postcount=1602) and am now able to view desktop view pages by default.
HOWEVER
I am now no longer able to watch Flash videos through my browser. Whereas before I could just click a video and it would work no problem, now the video just shows the Flash 9 logo and tells me I need to upgrade.
After some investigation, it seems to due to the User Agent setting. I can only view Flash videos if this is set to '1' (Opera) but I can only view desktop mode by default if it is set to '2' (Mozilla).
Does anyone know how I can have the ebst of both world? I want to be able to watch Flash while browsing in desktop mode - is that too much to ask?!
Thanks

How do you enable it so Opera Browser will view the full html page? And not the mobile pages.
Did you ever played with the settings of Opera???
Last screen looks like full HTML display to me?!?

Click to collapse
I do play with the settings. Mobile view is not checked. For example when I go to Yahoo.com\Nfl.com it's not the full html page it's the mobile version. When I go to Msn.com it's the full deal, but when I click on a link it returns into mobile version.
AFAIK some web pages will still recognize you as "Coming with a mobile device".
Did you try opera-mini? The latest version is blazing fast but web address and text input is very small as it looks not vga supported but web pages in general work FAST I MEAN FAAAAAAAAAAAST since they do something similar as skyfire (caching web content...). You have to try to believe it!
Download it by surfing to opera-mini.com (current version is 4.2).
Attached file:
Just run it on your PC WHILE connected to Active Sync to get rid of this annoying "yes" ... "yes" for data connections
Now that im on froyo on my N1 with flash i want to view full web pages just like on my laptop.
BUT on alot of my favorite web pages it automatically goes to the mobile site. Even if i type the in the site manually or try different methods it still reverts to the mobile site.
Any way to disable mobile view sites?
Type this on The browser
"about:debug" then go into settings And scroll down to uastring. Change from Android to desktop.
Where exactly is "about:debug"?
Edit: nevermind I got it. Thanks alot
you have to type "about:debug" in the address bar then hit go on keyboard. Now I have more setting to mess with.
any help to make the tilt 2 show me full web pages ? I think it was capable before update the rom.
Hi all.
I have android Samsung galaxy S. My problem is when I visit some websites with callender and apointments, the website recognizes that I have less resolution than 800byxxx and it blocks me, I get an error like : your device has less resolution than is requered etc...
How can I resolve this problem ? I dont want the sites to see me as mobile device with small resolution. is there a way to make this work ?
thanks
I know Cyanogenmod has an option to change UAString to Desktop or other type. This allows what you want. I think even HTC Sense roms have this option in the browser too...
Try typing about:useragent in the browser address bar.
The dolphin hd browser has options to change that in the settings. Just set it for desktop
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Type about:debug in the address bar, when you press enter more menu options will be available, you need to change UAString in settings.
thanks for help, but not there yet
Hi guys, I have done that, this solves a part of the whole problem, cause the site also checks the resolution and my resolution is smaller than it must be, so it says resolution is to low you need at least 1024 x 768 , where can I imitate that ? or change it sothat the site does not see my lower resolution ?
com'on guys help me out
Help me out somebody I'm on it already for 3 days, still no solution.
please help.
Have you tried opera mini (or opera mobile)? The web pages are decoded on operas servers then sent to your phone in a different format, sometimes this helps, but only if the web page is simple enough, ie no flash content.
What site are you trying?
I just emailed Dolphin Browser HD support for a problem I'm having. I figured I might as well post on XDA and see if anyone else has a solution or a decent workaround. I have Googled this problem a bit but have come up empty-handed. Anyways, since I'm lazy/not feeling well, I'll just copy and paste the email I just sent to Dolphin Browser HD support.

Hi,
I love your browser and it is my default browser on my Nexus S. My phone is NOT rooted and I bought it from Canada's Rogers Wireless. The problem I'm having is that when I go to some sites that as soon as the page for the article finishes loading, I can no longer scroll on that page to actually read the article.
Here's an example article: http://io9.com/5872558/parasitic-flies-turn-bees-into-zombies-before-wiping-them-out-completely
If I copy this URL and post it in Firefox or Opera for Android, the page loads fine and I have no problem scrolling.
If I prevent the page from fully loading, I can scroll. But this usually means pictures and other content won't load (but I'm able to read the article because text always loads first).
If I use the add-on called "Desktop Toggles" to toggle onto desktop mode, the page looks very messed up and I am often not able to read it.
Like I said, I love your browser, but I've had this problem for a long time with previous versions and am just about hitting the breaking point. Is there any way around this problem? Are you working on a fix (as far as I know it's not an uncommon problem)? I'd really rather not switch browsers.
Also, one of the "fixes" that people recommend (I've Googled the problem) is to zoom in or out of the page to enable scrolling. The problem is, for a page such as the example article above, zooming isn't an option as the page is in a mobile format.
I am using Dolphin Browser HD version 7.2.1
Please help/advise.
I've had this problem too, the only fix per se is to reload the page. Sometimes even if it's not a mobile page I can't zoom in/out.
Hello, you can try to use Dolphin Browser HD version 7.3.0 from Android Market. I think the new version will be better. If you also have this problem, you can contact support email: [email protected]
Yeah, I've tried version 7.3.0. I still have the same problem and I emailed support (after they replied to my first email) to tell them so.
Hi, i knew, this thread is pretty Old, but i have exactly the same Problem with my Galaxy Nexus.
I'm in touch with the Support team.
Any advise on this issue?
Uh, i have absolutely no problem with this site and browser combo, jb btw, you sure that ur browser is up to date?
Really?! People still tolerate watching YT videos at regular speed? You have to be out-yer-ever-lovin' minds? And yet there is a Boote-sized void of search results on this topic and little in the way of any substantive discussions. Not even Google's own YT Forum generates any results.
If you have watched YT videos on a desktop or laptop, you may have stumbled upon the variable speed feature. It's a huge (yes, even, yuuuuge) time saver and once you have learned how and when to use it, you will find it hard to be on YT without it (both pleasure and work related). And yet that's exactly what happens when accessing YT with a mobile device. This has been a known 'issue' for many years. But I haven't read anything that discusses why mobile phones don't have access to that feature. Does any one know?
I have tried six or seven different browsers; no luck. The only workaround I could come up with was to remotely log in to my workstation. This setup, however, suffers from severe video degradation (though audio is fine). I am also aware of the approach of downloading the YT video and watching it through a player that has variable speed capabilities. That however is not a complete solution (e.g., inability to download private channel videos). I'd love hear about other approaches or solutions. And spare me ignit suggestions like using YT's skip feature.
Why does this seem to be such an intractable problem? It works fine on a desktop...it works fine on a laptop...but no luck on any mobile device (and I have tried multiple different devices and apparently this is also an issue with iphones). If it's a technical issue, I'd like to read up on it...then clean house with introducing a new app.
Did you try using a browser in desktop mode?
Desktop mode
Yes. Tried desktop mode on the following browsers: stock, chrome, firefox, opera and dolphin. The Variable Speed control cog does not present itself whether in mobile or desktop mode. But go to the same video on a laptop or workstation and the cog is there. And it makes no difference whether accessing via wifi or data. So I interpret this as YT somewhere being able to see that the play request is coming from a mobile and, as such, the cog is coded for 'disable'. That said, I would tend to think there is a solution to be had. But I'm not an expert.
I just tested on my phone, using Chrome in Desktop mode. The cog is there for me and I was able to change speed.
S3 / Note 4 + Chrome = No luck. But...
I just picked up a new Note 4 and just like with my S3, Chrome will not accommodate variable speed. A quick correction to my last post though; the cog does appear when accessing YT through a browser in desktop mode. If accessing YT through the app or through a browser on the mobile site the cog is not available.
While viewing YT in desktop mode through Chrome you can press on the cog after a single touch of the video (it's at the bottom off to the right) and it will bring up several options...one of them being Speed. However, in selecting a different speed Chrome won't actually make any change. You can confirm this by setting it 2x and then to .25x speed (the difference should be quite obvios). At least this is what I found testing it with a fully updated S3 running 4.3 as well as on my Note running 6.0.
But...fortunately I do now find that Firefox, viewing YT in desktop mode, provides the solution I have been wanting so badly. Click on the cog and variable speed becomes a reality on a mobile device. I found this solution works on both my S3 and Note 4. Que bueno!
That said, I still would be interested in knowing why that feature is not available through the YT app or its mobile website. Is it a resource issue? Or...?
Thank for your involvement Scotsman. I am one happy hombre.
