Just got a G1 used off eBay and it connects to my WIFI access point just fine. But, I can't access anything over it. It just says that the web page is unavailable. The eBay seller says it is my access point but it works well with other phones as well as laptops. Also, the cellphone can't seem to find any cell networks although I have good signal here. It did find the network once and worked for about 30 minutes before crapping out again. By the way, the eBay seller is refusing to refund my money.
Try connecting to another wifi router with the G1 and see if it works, then report back and I'll help try solve the problem.
I tried a different access point. Mine is a Gigabyte so I tried a Linksys. I had to set it up so that the AP is providing DHCP. Strange thing is that my router which connects to the WAN side of the AP is also providing DHCP. However, after setting it up this way, WIFI works as it should. Now, on to my other problems. Thinking that the Cyanogen ROM could be the problem, I went back to the old RC29. Now, I have to get the phone registered and Cyanogen installed again. Thanks for the suggestion.

I just got my Sensation today, unboxed it, but it won't do anything over the internet over wi-fi. I have connected it to my wi-fi router and it says it is connected with 4 bars of signal, but whenever I try to go to a webpage it brings up the Android fault screen saying "Webpage not available", it seems to do the same thing when connected through my pc (having said that, I am less sure my settings are correct for that to work).
I have moved from a Motorola Milestone, which works perfectly on the same network.
Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Cheers,
Dave

the only thing i can personally think is try making sure your router has all the latest drivers.....better yet...try to connect to a different wifi spot to eliminate phone or router. if, with a different known working router it doesn't work, then get worried.
I'm having similar problems. With my Vodafone sim everything works fine, but with my T-Mobile sim (which I want to use until my number is ported), I get 4 bars of HSDPA signal but no data connection and the wi-fi doesn't work.

Thanks, glad I'm not the only one. I've just tried it with my T-Mobile sim, and that has the same problems. Will probably try calling vodafone tomorrow or going in store, I hold out more hope of finding someone helpful online though. My experience of store staff is not 100% positive for technical stuff.
WiFi is good on mine although I don't get a 3g signal at all at home. T mobile sim doesn't connect to internet either but hopefully that should be because the internet settings should be changed for t mobile. I'm hoping that any issue we have can be sorted with a new radio.

You'll probably need to add new APN settings for t-mobile, as the Vodafone Sensation only has the vodafone APN.
lol that what i meant. but vodafone should have a better signal that t-mobile its struggling to keep 1 bar. hope this not one of those antenna bugs that my old tytn 2 had
I've not yet tried WiFi but my mobile data is now working fine on T-Mobile with the following APN settings;
Name: TMobile GPRS
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: user
Password: pass
Enter that via the APN option in settings under wireless networks.

It looks like it is a problem with my router / network. I have managed to get wireless working on a different wireless network, so I think I need to play with my router to see if I can get that to work.
Thanks for all the help guys.
Today I received a new Sim-free (but S-On) Sensation as a replacement for my old Hero. Hero had been working fine with my wifi (WPA2 mixed).
I then swapped Sim into the Sensation and booted it. I also reflashed my Hero with VR13, which I had been using as I am giving the phone to my parents. Both phones will connect to my router BUT neither can access any sites or data. IF I take the security off then they can connect. This is not ideal though.
Does anyone know how to solve this? Or as to why this has suddenly happened?

Did you try the wifi protected setup option? When I hit it, the prompt then says to press the WPS (wifi protected setup) button on your wireless point for 5 secs...
Negative on that one too my friend. Ahh well, I will try it on another router and see what happens
Anyone in the U.S. on T-Mobile get the Wi-Fi Calling to work on the Sensation?
Long story short - I bought two new Sensations and neither one will work for Wi-Fi calling. Everything else on the phone works fine.
I have spent about 10 hours of troubleshooting between T-Mobile, my internet provider, and HTC. Absolutely nothing fixes this issue. Both T-Mobile and HTC have left open ticket items for this for me, but I am not hopeful.
Believe me, we have done every master reset, phone reboot, sim card check, etc, etc. you can think of.
Want to know if anyone in the U.S. has this working?
Thanks

I'm 95% certain your issues lie with your router. The router's firewall is blocking it. Try disabling your NAT firewall. If you can't try enabling "Pass Through" for your NAT.

Thanks for the suggestion. I thought something like that as well, but I have tried 4 different wi-fi hotspots including one at the T-Mobile store. None worked.
Are you in a 3G only coverage area?
Yeah, I'm a say router too bro. Mine connect every time. 3 different locations

Well, well - problem finally solved after spending countless hours on this and what a simple stupid fix.
Wait for it....
My 911 address in the T-Mobile account info was returning a null value so the Wi-Fi app did not know what IP address to connect to.
Here is how to fix this problem: Go to your T-Mobile personal profile or call them, change your 911 address (not your home or billing address) to somewhere close by like a business or your place of work, something that is on the map and has a well established address location. Once I changed the address online, about 3 minutes later the Wi-Fi app magically starts working on both Sensations.
What makes me so mad, is that this is one of the very first things the T-Mobile tier 3 tech support person checked when I called in the very first time. They said no problem. Well apparently not.
Admins, maybe you might want to sticky this....
Hi all,
I have searched the threads as best I can so I post this...apologies for the legnth...
It is assumed that the wifi adapter in the Sensation will connect to the strongest signal to give us all the best connection experience possible, however with the proliferation of open wifi signals now on offer in the UK (Openzone and BTFON etc) it is now causing havoc when I don't have BT as an ISP.
The problem:
Currently the priority of the Sensation's wifi radio software seems to be connecting to an open signal first. The strongest is second.
Unlike an alternative Apple product, I haven't found any settings to set a preference for remembered wireless networks and to only apply the other default rules AFTER those preferences.
The Apple product also never connects to a network without the okay from the user. The HTC/Android software connects irrespective. Finally the "forget network" option doesn't work either, as it rescans, picks it up again straight away and because it's "open" connects again.
This always happens in my home as the BTFON signal from next door's BT router is actually stronger at the front of my house that my own router signal from the back. Before anyone says "get another router or position it somewhere else", I can't without spending at least £60+ for a SKY ANYTIME+ wireless receiver (which I refuse to do).
Is there another hidden option for "stock" phones? or perhaps there is a ROM?
What I want it to do is:
1) control which discovered networks I allow my phone to connect to automatically.
2) set a flag to ignore other found wifi networks, regardless of signal strength.
I know these fly in the face of the original idea of the Sensation and HTC, which was to produce a phone that connects to any network as silently and quickly as possible. HTC's "Watch" app and service launched specifically with the Sensation wouldn't have been so great without it.
Has anyone else spotted this with BTFON signals out there or fixed it?
EtA
(Vodafone stock Sensation on 2.3.4)
I've got a stock O2 (2.3.3) Sensation and the Forget Network works with BT Openzone, which is good as I've never been able to get past the "enter your phone number" registration page with BT Openzone. Mine also doesn't automatically try to connect to open networks.
If BT wasn't such a scummy internet provider they wouldn't have their home broadband routers broadcasting as BT Openzone providers.
On stock as well and yes the phone automatically detects the network again after "forgetting" it, but does not auto connect unless I go and tell it to connect again. Not to sure why you're auto connecting after forgetting the network...
You know, this sounds like FUD to me. One post and a non-existent problem no one ever reported.
Forget network works just fine. The phone wont' connect to an open network at random.
If this is real it's got to be be user error.
More than likely just another PEBKAC error...

I'm laughing my socks off at your attempts to belittle me and my issue.
So you both think you are experts do you? How?..based on the number of posts or thanks you have received?
One post of a problem no one has heard of before is how a forum starts off.
Trying to be "clever" with acronyms is childish.
I have posted my issue to HTC and rec'd a sensible response. It is now being looked into.
But then you don't care because its just operator error.
I suppose you never knew that you couldn't input British postal codes into the 'people' app until the bug was spotted. I wonder you raised that first to HtC and then it got fixed...That's right...not you guys either. Too busy belittling members.

Wish more Vodafone users had posted their experience, as I mentioned my O2 2.3.3 only auto connects to known networks and once connected to openzone I can't get past the page asking for my phone number
As an O2 customer don't you have free Cloud membership?
I used to with my iPhone...Go to McD's and whilst sitting inside connect...I'm sure it's still foc after popping in your phone number.
I thought I could use BTOpenzone as it is offered with Vodafone, but I have to pay seperately otherwise I can't get past the screen you mention either.
I do remember though that even with Cloud coverage my phone would at least download email. It was only browsing that would require passwords etc. Not sure wy this happened really though...seemed to be offering a cherry to tempt buying the cake I suppose.
BTW ...HTC have responded again saying that they are aware there are issues with Wi-Fi connectivity, specifically with baseband (radio) 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M and software 1.45.161.1
They say they will issue "stability" fixes in the next release to vodafoneUK customers (and others UK carriers I presume) in the coming months...

We get The Cloud (which works perfectly) and BT Openzone (which has never worked for me).

Thanks for this.
Trouble is, that I don't have this application on my phone, although I confess I did at one time but that was two restores ago although it could I suppose have residual data on the SD card. I will check.
I have had a call from HTC Customer Support today as I gave my call experience a bad customer feedback score.
The issue will now be raised further for investigation the developers and they are going to inform me as to when the next update will come out...or at least that is what the guy said...I run a Helpdesk myself at work, so I realise the situation...but we'll see.
HTC have been honest and fair to me in the past so I have good expectations.
I'll report back...
BT Openzone issue
Had this problem myself. If you are on Vodafone then go to the "My Vodafone App", Click the WiFi Finder tab, press the menu key (next to the home button) and click settings. Untick "Enable BT Openzone" and your Sensation will properly "forget" BT Openzones.
Let me know if this helps.
@jengla Thank you very much! This worked perfectly. Been driving me crazy for months
Hello I have a year and half old LG Optimus 3D. Model P925G. Unrooted running 2.2.2. I am through Rogers canada. My service was susspended about 3 weeks ago. I have been using wifi all this time to access e-mail, facebook etc...At home I piggyback off my neighbours linksy router. Never had a problem. Then couple days ago wifi stopped allowing internet access at all. It says full connection however. So i did many soft reboots.Including a factory reset. Nothing changed. Took phone to Rogers store. Clerk proceeded to enter wifi hot spot password it connected right away withy full access. I left went into Safeway and public library. Both showed full wifi connection but no access, untill i answered yes to their respective agreements on my browser. Then full Internet access. At home still no access but showing full connection. I tried using password to my roomates telus router. It says authenticating but kicks off over and over as disabled. yet connects freely to the neighbours linksy. I set my wifi to never sleep, I reset the router, Ive tried everything I know. nothing helps. Rogers clerk says wifi is fine as it connects at shop. Its not fine. At my house or most anywhere else it refuses to work. Im a relatively tech unsavy guy. However i like my phone and need this to work. Can someone out ther help me? Or is my phone ****ed. Ill be back up on full data service soon but need wifi as data plans are costly. Very frustrated. I feel Ive overloode something might be basic. Help help help!!!!!! Thanks
