I have a xt720 and I was wondering if there is a difference between the milestone and mine. I an seem to tell if rooting will work wihlth mime but I figured it would but I thought to ask. I really want to root this baby but everything seems a little weird. I see things about korean phones or the europe phone but I'm in north america so I don't quite know what method would work. Any help or direct to what I could do would be greatly appreciated. If this was an iphone this wouldnt be a problem lol.

You can use Androot to root your phone (google it). As far as the different phones are concerned those are the same phone, they are just the models from the specific countrys.

Thanks for the help. Appreciated it. Didn't want to brick my phone.

I have been searching around on this site as well as others but haven't found the answer. Is it possible to "reflash" a cricket phone such as a Droid 1 or Droid X back to verizon? And how is this done? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much in advance

I, too, would appreciate a definitive guide. It would be helpful to evaluate the wisdom of buying one to use as a testbed for [malware] market applications
This would be cool to know I wonder if it just a matter of changing the radios

I can't really give you any advice on to reflash a phone back to its original carrier but I would check if the ESN is clean prior to flashing, otherwise it would be a waste and won't be allowed to get activated to the original carrier.
So if they get this. Is it possible to strip it down and make something of it for us?

People are just waiting for the drop, then it should be ported for us in a week or so.

the vibrant? I don't think that will help much, haven't they had a leaked copy for a while..
That's a GSM phone like the captivate, we're CDMA (Network)
Admittedly I am still wrapping my brains around all this.
I am understanding that when we flash something we don't actually do anything with the Phone or Radio portion do we ?
If that is the case. The computer part if the SGS phones are basically the same as far as hardware.
If I am incorrect please let me know as it will completely alter my understanding of what we are doing when we flash and MOD ..
I have been picking through the file system and have not found anything that actually controls the radio. But then there are also more than a few files I am unsure of.

This has been known for a while .
I don't see this being a problem for very long especially on htc, considering that phones like the holiday will more then likely have international "brothers/sisters", that means there will be dev support worldwide working to break open a phones boot loader. I would assume the only reason it hasn't been done to the atrix, is because honestly the phone is a flop. Blur put a bad taste in everyones mouth and not alot of people want to mess with moto.
If you hit up other htc phone boards here on xda there are literally hundreds of developers working on htc phones. I have said it before where there is a will there is a way.

Locked bootloaders do much harm to the phones' sales. I like the sense rom but the default stock one comes with a lot of bloat and poor battery performance. I flashed the dilligaf's V2 rom and my phone now flies. When the manufacturers cannot unleash the full potential of the phone, why the hell do they have to lock their bootloaders for?

That's not what the saturated dev section for the atrix tells me.

I work at AT&T COR, yes, my particular store sells about 30 Inspires to 1 Atrix. Yes, it's a flop.

HAHAHA! That's funny sh*t.
Anyways... If the manufacturers and Phone companies would actually leave the phones open, we wouldn't have this issue.
It wouldn't be too hard for them to do...build a recovery image right into the phone. If something screws up, they is a keypress sequence that would force install factory firmware. Bam...No more brick, and start over. I know I have reference the PSP in several other posts, but they did it right. Maybe the phone manufacturers should take a hint.
There is a PSP dev that goes by Dark_Alex... He created the "Despertar del Cementerio." This translates to "Wake the Dead." This was a service battery and memory stick combo that would literally UNBRICK your PSP. I actually have one, and have purposely killed the power during a firmware update to test it. And it works! Anyways, the point is...this is VERY possible with these phones, no one has done it yet tho.

Haha, I LOLed at work when I read this.
ATT seems to have something to do with this. If I hadn't been able to root my inspire I'd probably have returned it. Too much bloat. Bloated on a phone like that males it even worse (also I never liked MOTO)
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Well if its not rootable and cannot access recovery, then I don't bother. I was walking thru fryys when I saw the inspire and knew I had to get it. Trading my sgs vibrant+$150 for a new inspire sounded great to me. But I didn't think if the bootloader was unlocked or not. Luckily,it was. I got Lucky on this one

I don't know if I am putting this in the right place but I have a motorola backflip (temp phone, using a samsung infuse now) and I am wondering how can I unlock it so it can be used with another network? Like T-Mobile because I really want to give it to a friend of mine who is in need of a cell phone but she is on T-Mobile. My Backflip is rooted, and running cyanogen mod 7.1... so with all that done im wondering what can I flash to the device to allow it to work with a T-Mobile sim card?

Does this phone ship with unlocked boot loaders? And also who ever has this phone, how does it compare to the Photon that came out 2011? That phone is hella laggy and it was from the beginning. And is it better than the Epic 4G Touch?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
The phone shipped with locked bootloader, but it unlockable via Motorola Unlock Tools.

Nice, how does the phone compare to the previous Photon? Or even to the E4GT?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
Correction: the phone ships with an unlockable bootloader. You have to use Motorola tool to unlock it and agree to void your warranty.
Sent from my XT897 using xda premium
Voiding the warranty is automatic when you root your phone. So other than that how do you like the phone?

I love this phone. And what I meant by voiding the warranty, is that you basically tell Motorola that I'm voiding my warranty and they are able to keep track of that voided warranty.

Good to know. Does the Photon Q lag at all like the previous Photon? Or is it pretty fluid?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
I have both photons. I don't see the lag that you are referring to.
Sent from my XT897 using xda premium
The Photon that came out last year is laggy. It's slow to respond a lot of times. It's not fast and fluid. I'm not talking about data speeds just the phone itself seemed laggy, even other photon's I've played with in stores. They're slow.

weird, I never had any of those problems with the original. I think the animations give it that slowed down look too. right now I'm running mine my original photon completely stock and locked because of the 4G. and it runs great. quick as hell.
