CPUinfo and CPU clock speed - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

So I want something that can keep track of CPU clock speed over a period of time. Specifically when the screen was off. I asked around and no really had a good solution.
Being new to android but old to linux, I figured I could just make a script that would check /proc/cpuinfo and every couple of seconds and save it to a text file. Simple....I thought.
CPUinfo on my phone (HTC Incredible) doesn't show processor speed.
Anyone know of a way to accomplish what I want? Maybe there is an app out already that will do what I wish, but I haven't been able to find one.

No one? There has to be some way to do this.

I know nothing about android, but I do know that setCPU shows the current CPU speed. Might want to look into how he does it?

Try looking in the market for an app called system or system panel that might be what your looking for
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™

I have System Panel but it only shows the current CPU clock and the full version will show CPU usage but not the clock speed.

you can try temp+cpu from market, it show the cpu clock speed, cpu usage, bettary temp & available ram in a 1x1 widget

That shows current CPU clock. I can't believe there isn't an app for this already. There are tons that show current but none that do any sort of logging.

I'm going to keep bumping this until I can get an answer. haha

[Q] Time in state file

Ok, sorry to ask this i have tried to find the information in the threads with no luck.
In passing on a thread in the dev forums I saw someone mention a file in the android
system that records the time the CPU spends in each state (ie at 100mhz, 200mhz etc)
I found the file that time and examined it. I would like to find it again, despite searching for it (in my phone, the forums and google) i have not been able to find it again.
I am having battery drain issues and would like to see if my phone is properly scaling down when idle. I have os monitor to see if something is using it, but that gives me live instantaneous information about usage percentages. This should give me broad information about how hard my CPU is running over a period of time. Besides just because something is taking up 10% it doesnt mean the CPU is scaling up to 1000mhz to handle that request.
So if anyone knows where that file is located i would be grateful if they could share.
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/stats/time_in_state
I use File Express, and have the file bookmarked so that it is easy to find. I suspect you could also create a home button to it with Astro File Manager.
Thank you, very much. I found it once forgot to bookmark and spent hours going through every folder I could find.

I figured it would be nice to have a simple app to display this info, so I wrote a small app to graphically show you the time in each state + kernel build info (for those who flash often enough to forget what kernel they're running )

Sweet app dude! Thank you for that.

Battery Usage Stats missing items

I'm finding that the Battery Usage Stats are always missing apps from the list as posted below. Can anyone else confirm what they see on 2.3.4 ROMS and state whether it's OTA/Stock or custom. Thanks.

It is working here.

I think apps won't show because in comparison to the screen, WiFi and Android OS they use almost no power. Apps eventually do show when they are used more intensively.
However if you want to monitor which apps use most power, I suggest you use BetterBatteryStats (xda-topic). This will let you track apps who wake your phone and which apps draw most power. It's a very useful app.

What ROM are you running?
I've just had beyondpod playing with presto playback speed plugin for the last 90 minutes with screen mostly off and see the attached. There's definitely something amiss as I've seen them listed before and look how much they've drained my battery since the last screen grab posted above.

CPU acting up??

I purchased SetCPU about two weeks ago. I stopped using it because my phone started to get choppy, so i disabled all my profiles and disables start at boot. I kept the widget alive cause i had a free space on my widget screen but since i installed that, i see that the CPU stays a lot at this speed. I rarely see it at 1500mhz. Not sure if its normal

could be that widget isn't refreshing because app is no lo.Ger installed, which is probably the case
yes it is refreshing because the temps keep changing, the app is installed, i just disabled it from managing my cpu but its still there. also, if you knew how setcpu works youd know the max is the highest frequency allowed and the low, the lowest, it is not by any mean a indication of current mhz, so something keeps changing my cpu profile...but what?

You can check your CPU levels with the app cpuspy on the market.

[APP][2.1+]Flag reminder - tap to remember!

Hello!
I just posted my new application on the market.
You might want to have a look ! It would be easiest to quote what i wrote in its description:
What if the only thing you need actually be reminded of is not a specified event itself, but simply the fact that it exists?
Tap on widget to raise flag. It will remind you by vibrations, sound and notification (all of those customizable) that you've risen it. Then you'll be able to easily connect it with the reason why you did it. Simple?
This will remind you with specified (for all flags separate) interval or only once. You can also set a ringtone, vibration pattern and notification text for each of flags. Doesn't use resources, permission-free (only vibrations),
ads free.

Just free .
Please rate it. Also if you have some opportunities to promote it do so please! I don't have time nor resources...
All the best!
Nice one! That's what i've been looking for. Really great stuff. I recommend it for everyone who hate to set up some tasks in callendar... the author is right - all i need is just to REMEMBER that i wanted to do sth.
Thanks!
Glad you enjoy it. I couldn't find it on the market so i wrote it myself.
I think that's the best way to write a good app. Cheers
Hm i think the description may seem unclear... has anyone problems with understanding what this applications does? Thanks for help!

Question S22 Ultra System UI app

I've been optimizing my S22 Ultra SD and it seems a significant amount of CPU utilization is being chewed up by the Android 12 System UI app. What side effects will occur if it is disabled or can it be specifically fined tuned?
Edit: I'm using Nova for my launcher.

I wouldn't disable it if I were you.
You disable or uninstall anything else? It's obviously "looking" for something, not finding it and trying over and over.

Didn't disable or uninstall anything however I trimmed back some of the s pen features (like provide a warning if s en is left behind among others). Got the results I was looking for in spades.
Edit: by turning off the majority of s pen features the System UI app went from the biggest CPU user to the smallest CPU user! Didn't really need them anyway!
I have multiple Spens, so many of those features don't work anyway. Now you gotta do something about DuckDuckGo. HOLY crap, unless of course your job is searching the internet all day!
Love DuckDuckgo - got the new feature that blocks app trackers enabled so it's always running. Best feature ever.
