[Q] Time in state file - Captivate General

Ok, sorry to ask this i have tried to find the information in the threads with no luck.
In passing on a thread in the dev forums I saw someone mention a file in the android
system that records the time the CPU spends in each state (ie at 100mhz, 200mhz etc)
I found the file that time and examined it. I would like to find it again, despite searching for it (in my phone, the forums and google) i have not been able to find it again.
I am having battery drain issues and would like to see if my phone is properly scaling down when idle. I have os monitor to see if something is using it, but that gives me live instantaneous information about usage percentages. This should give me broad information about how hard my CPU is running over a period of time. Besides just because something is taking up 10% it doesnt mean the CPU is scaling up to 1000mhz to handle that request.
So if anyone knows where that file is located i would be grateful if they could share.

/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/stats/time_in_state
I use File Express, and have the file bookmarked so that it is easy to find. I suspect you could also create a home button to it with Astro File Manager.

Thank you, very much. I found it once forgot to bookmark and spent hours going through every folder I could find.

I figured it would be nice to have a simple app to display this info, so I wrote a small app to graphically show you the time in each state + kernel build info (for those who flash often enough to forget what kernel they're running )

Does anyone recognize what's on this screenshot? PLZ...

A picture is worth a thousand words... So they say. But this picture is missing one word - the name of the software. Suspects are: Qmenu, SPB pocket plus, Phonealarm, WM native behaviour. If anyone knows this, please share, I'm having weird battery problems (like shutdown on 30% and then after powering up, sitting on 1% for over an hour with active usage). I'd like to hunt this bug down and make a kill. Screenshot was made with auto-capture utility, because it only shows right before shutdown, so this bugger was hard to catch. Even now bottom of the image is missing, probably due to write operation being interrupted by shutdown. You can see behind the image in question there is PhonEx being meddled with.
Thanks.

I have no idea what it is (not even sure what I'm supposed to be looking at), but get a task manager like dotfred's or xtask and look up all the open windows. You should be able to track it down that way, and remove whatever's opening it up.
Well, thanks for the advice, but if You read carefully what I wrote, then You could imagine that it's really hard to pull that off in 2-3 seconds while the device is shutting down. Of course, if there would be a system snapshot kind of program - which would let me take a snapshot or log of all open windows in every 1-2 seconds - then it would be awesome, but I am not aware that the utilities You mentioned are able to accomplish that.

CPUinfo and CPU clock speed

So I want something that can keep track of CPU clock speed over a period of time. Specifically when the screen was off. I asked around and no really had a good solution.
Being new to android but old to linux, I figured I could just make a script that would check /proc/cpuinfo and every couple of seconds and save it to a text file. Simple....I thought.
CPUinfo on my phone (HTC Incredible) doesn't show processor speed.
Anyone know of a way to accomplish what I want? Maybe there is an app out already that will do what I wish, but I haven't been able to find one.
No one? There has to be some way to do this.
I know nothing about android, but I do know that setCPU shows the current CPU speed. Might want to look into how he does it?
Try looking in the market for an app called system or system panel that might be what your looking for
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
I have System Panel but it only shows the current CPU clock and the full version will show CPU usage but not the clock speed.
you can try temp+cpu from market, it show the cpu clock speed, cpu usage, bettary temp & available ram in a 1x1 widget
That shows current CPU clock. I can't believe there isn't an app for this already. There are tons that show current but none that do any sort of logging.
I'm going to keep bumping this until I can get an answer. haha

[APP][2.1+]Flag reminder - tap to remember!

Hello!
I just posted my new application on the market.
You might want to have a look ! It would be easiest to quote what i wrote in its description:
What if the only thing you need actually be reminded of is not a specified event itself, but simply the fact that it exists?
Tap on widget to raise flag. It will remind you by vibrations, sound and notification (all of those customizable) that you've risen it. Then you'll be able to easily connect it with the reason why you did it. Simple?
This will remind you with specified (for all flags separate) interval or only once. You can also set a ringtone, vibration pattern and notification text for each of flags. Doesn't use resources, permission-free (only vibrations),
ads free.

All the best!
Nice one! That's what i've been looking for. Really great stuff. I recommend it for everyone who hate to set up some tasks in callendar... the author is right - all i need is just to REMEMBER that i wanted to do sth.
Thanks!
Glad you enjoy it. I couldn't find it on the market so i wrote it myself.
I think that's the best way to write a good app. Cheers
Hm i think the description may seem unclear... has anyone problems with understanding what this applications does? Thanks for help!

How to change the applications for double installation?

Hello to all,
I hope not to have the wrong section, but frankly I consider this more of a trick that programming something.
Let me explain my problem.
I tried in every way to the root to my phone, but to no avail.
Basically I wanted to run the root simply to uninstall Whatsapp (which is a native application and it does not work because it was too dated).
Once you have uninstalled that version, I would have installed a new one.
Being that I can not update the version that is on, I wanted to ask if there was a way to change, starting from the installation file name
the app. The idea is to show the system with a different app and then install two WhatsApp that difference in name only and folders process.
A minimum of programming experience I have it even if not directly in Android environment
I hope I was clear enough.
Try to have different signatures in whatsapp.
If younwanna have to,
But I suppose it not a noob thing.
I have this for youtube 2 youtube installed at the same time.

Hi, thank you for sharing your valuable updates on this blog. I was surfing the internet for quite some time to find this information. Your input/experience/suggestion has provided a valuable insight.

Interactive governor explanation

Alright xda,
After scouring the Internet and this forum as well as others for answers, I've given up. It seems that interactive governor explanations are few and far between, ranging from outdated to only explaining one or two points. The problem is that people like me want to know what the heck ALL this stuff means so I can get the best out of my custom Rom!
So with the chart provided, if someone kind enough with some free time could possible explain all the values meanings so that i can use that info to modify Cromi-x5.4 into the better beast it already is.
Some values I get, others (particularly load and boost) make no sense.
Really hoping for a savior here!

Thanks bud, even followed lucius zens guide and my tablet is flying now and the battery is doing better! Amazing how a few tweaks to a governor can help
Now if only I knew the best undervolt values cause my values are screwed up in the sense that I can't tune them out of fear of undervolting too much(50 causes severe stability problems and battery drain)
