Sign into your account and change the email. That should work.

My current Xbox live gamertag is under a yahoo email account because at the time, I did not have a @live.com email.
I just reset my phone and signed in with my @live.com email and it created a new Xbox live account.
Thru the xbox console itself I tried changing the email from my yahoo to my live, but it won't let me since the live email is already associated with the new xbox live account it created.
Called xbox live support and they said they can't delete accounts and to try and log out of xbox live on my phone (which it won't let me)..
Any tips?
This is basically what I need to do, but can't

I went through something similar. My xbox live account was linked to a slush hotmail account, not my main one (my full name). When I knew I was getting a wp7, I went about trying to switch it, however there was already an xbox live account associated with my full-name one (I had made one but switched to my slush account).
This is what I did:
-create new email ([email protected])
-go to xbox console, and recover gamertag for my fullname hotmail (it's somewhere in account settings or something)
-switched the gamertag associated with my fullname to [email protected]
-so my [email protected] now has no gamertag associated with it
-switched my main xbox live account to my fullname hotmail email
And voila, I now had my xbox account linked to my fullname hotmail
I hope this answers your question, and if it doesn't, my apologies and good luck, gamertag associations are a ***** to deal with.
Thanks, i'm thinking that's what i'm gonna have to do. Create a new @live email account, change my xbox live account email to the new @live email, AND reset my phone and use the new @live email.
Right now that seems like the only thing that will work, unless anyone else has any other ideas...
Your're right, they are a ***** to deal with. I'm kind of ticked off it automatically created a new xbox live account when I put in my @live email on my phone. Didn't even give me a chance to log in with my xbox live account.
No, do what he said, you don't need to reset your phone I believe. What he said to do was log into the Xbox and sign in to your PHONES email, which will sign into your 'new' account and switch THAT email to a new one, a temporary one you'll need to make. Once that account is off that email, you'll be able to switch your real xbox live ID to your phones email...

Correct. What I outlined was how to switch your xbox live account to be associated with the email that is on your phone
Thanks dudes, I misunderstood the first time...got it now. Gonna do that right now

I just had to do the above, but when I did it, it wouldn't remove the automatically created player######## xbox live gamertag from my phone, even though it was now associated with a different email address than my live ID account and my correct gamertag was associated with the correct live ID email. After several soft resets, no change, still player####### in my game hub. I did a hard reset and it fixed that problem, when went to reload the apps that I'd purchased previously, they are longer showing up as previously purchased. In ZUNE, I have no apps in my purchases history. It's as if the app purchases were linked to my gamertag!?!?!? WTF.
Maybe it wouldn't remove the Player###### gamertag ID because of the achievements associated with the installed apps? Maybe that's why removing that gamertag ID removed the app purchase history? Maybe my being on Mango Beta has something to do with this? At no point in time did I change the LIVE ID email account associated with my phone.
I think I might have to restore to an old backup...
I have two Windows Live ID's.
One is for Hotmail (it's my primary account and I *must* have access to it on my phone).
The other is for ZunePass and Xbox Live.
Anyone know if it's possible to use one account for Hotmail sync and another for ZunePass or Xbox Live?
I had to split the two accounts a while back because Xbox Live Messenger could only handle 100 IM contacts and it was failing.
Just hoping I don't have to switch the Live ID on my Xbox Live and ZunePass subscriptions. Sounds like a PITA.
Yeah, that's not a problem. Just set up your current 'secondary' account (ie. the one with Xbox/Zune subs) as the primary one on your phone. Then set up your current primary account as an extra email accnt.
You can then customize email/calendary/contact syncing from the two.
The Windows Phone 7 support documentation covers these items.
Basically, the first Windows Live ID you use needs to be the one that has your Zune Pass and Xbox Live Gamertag if you want to use those features. You cannot add a secondary Windows Live ID and use the Zune Pass/Gamertag on it.
When you say that you must have access to your Hotmail, I am assuming you mean that you just need access to the e-mail and contacts on that account. If that is the case, then set your Hotmail as your secondary Windows Live ID, and initially sign in to your phone with the Windows Live ID that has your Zune Pass/Gamertag. Though just remember that this also means that whatever Zune/application purchases you make through the phone will be tied to the first Windows Live ID.
Also remember that if you have any contacts on that Zune/Gamertag Windows Live ID, that it will automatically sync with your phone, so you may want to go ahead and delete those so that it doesn't mess up your address book on the phone (you cannot turn off contact syncing with the first Windows Live ID tied to the phone). You can turn off the email though.

I was checking into it and it seems that MS may now offer the ability to access non-Hotmail accounts via the web-based Hotmail UI (and presumably similar services). So I may be able to check all of my email from the old Live ID account tied to my XBL and ZunePass anyway.
Canadian marketplace is pretty horrid. Only apps and videos (even then I'm told our selection is cruddy). Is there a way to hop onto the American marketplace? I realized I need an american credit card to make purchases but that's not a problem.
Here's what would do the trick set up your computer location as US. Create a live account with a US address, the tricky part is that is has to be your main account on WP7 and the only way to do it is by resetting your phone and set that Live email address as your main address.
btw having a US live address will get you all music artist background in zune (on wp7 and on Zune desktop client) The downside is that you won't be able to use your Canadian Xbox Live ID . You'll be granted a new xbox live username.
Hello, I don´t know where to ask this, so here it goes.
I have my main hotmail account which is listed as an unsupported country (for wp7 marketplace), I managed to change my address and region in hotmail so in that way I was able to access the marketplace in my WP7 ... but the problem is, that in the past I created an Xbox live account with this account, so my hotmail account appears as USA (which is the country I want now) and my xbox live account shows something else.
Now, when I wanted to create a zune account it appears as a different country, giving me overpriced items in the marketplace, so my zune ID and my Xbox Live ID are both showing the wrong country but my hotmail account is showing correct ... do you guys know how to change this?? I really dont care losing my xbox live account or my zune ID, but I do want to keep my hotmail address.
thank you.
Hi,
My brother had the same kind of problem, and Microsoft tell him that they cant do anything. He had to make another account.
Sorry for your accound.....
Yeah, unfortunately you can't do anything about it. The best way is to create a U.S. account.
So please help:
I have Hotmail for 13 years.
Now Zune starts to support my country (Poland).
So when I want to login to Zune on my PC, Zune says my country region of my PC and Hotmail are not the same so I cannot be logged in.
Apparently 13 years ago Hotmail didn't even exist for Poland so I couldn't even locate my account for Poland.
So what can I do? I don't want to change my account of course and it is already attached to my phone. I can't login to Zune.
You try on that site: www.xbox.com
Change location and display language in Regional Settings to US. Worked for me.
Although i love WP7, this pisses me off. It is f**ked up beyond beliefs.
After resetting my Samsung i917, it will not sign into my windows live, preventing me from setting up mail, calendar, zune, basically anything associated with Microsoft! As far as I was aware, it was connected before resetting, but it was not used on a daily basis so cannot be 100% sure it was still syncing. I just want to use it as a wireless music hub in the house with Zune, but need to sign in - anybody else had this issue?
The only 'fix' I found was related to windows 8, and involved disabling automatically updating date/time, but this did not help. Would be a shame to have to throw it in the bin just because Microsoft wont let me sign in - surely people are still allowed to use these Windows 7.5 phones?
Thanks in advance!
Windows Live ID does not work for WP 7.5-7.8 and for Zune transport on PC for a long time already. If you want to sync your contacts, mail, calendar - set up hotmail or outlook mail as "add an account" in "settings/email+accounts" of your phone. Thus you will get your contacts back and will continue using your phone. But you should forget about Zune, Marketplace and Windows Live ID. Thanks Microsoft for this awesome attitude to the customers.
P.S. And for sure you can sync your Zune PC client with your phone via usb cable (but not via Windows Live ID)

Thanks for confirming what I feared... regarding your P.S - does this make it impossible to wireless sync Zune music content over home WiFi when the phone is on charge like I used to?
Normally this should work. Here is how-to I did not check it because I don't use my WP7.8 HTC Titan for a long time - just switch it on and off from time to time to be sure that I am still able to cook a rom for it Also I have Zune and WMDC installed only on my old laptop (which is also used just to have fun with WEH 6.5.3 and WP7 devices). So you may try it...
Note:
Since November 15, 2015, the Zune service has been discontinued. This may cause errors when attempting to stream or download content or update the service.
