Hello,
If an application doesn't have an uninstall button is there a way to remove it?
I'm specifically wanting to remove the market app. I think I screwed it up when I installed it and it's completely useless. This isn't a "market fix" situation, it won't open for me at all. I tap, get a quick screen flash and it goes right back to home screen.
I was wondering if I could uninstall, then try to re-apply properly and hopefully get a better result.
Thanks.

Guessing here... depending on the version you're running.
Settings | Applications | Manage Applications | Running | select Market | force-stop | uninstall
I'm running the stock 3389 firmware.
Market shows up under system applications, no uninstall button. I can do force stop but that's it.

Maybe I don't need to bother trying to uninstall or remove the market. I'm reading through the enhancement thread now, I haven't installed that yet. Could be what I need to get the market working.
using Root Explorer, if you don't have it, get it otherwise you'll have to do this using adb shell or terminal, /system/app, mount r/w, rename Vending.apk to Vending.apk.bak that will uninstall vending. I would do a data/cache wipe using TI first on Market. Then reboot and rename back to Vending.apk, I've had to reinstall it before due to issues.

Sorry, I don't know what TI is for doing the data/cache wipe...

I was using stock 3389 and of course w/o the market. After I installed the enhancement package and did the market fix according to the instructions I now have the market and it works fine as does the gtab itself. I have a feeling if you did the same it may fix your problem. If not, at least you'll have the updated tegra drivers. Good luck!

Hi Guys,
I have updated my X10 Mini Pro with Google Maps 5.0, it updated fine without any errors whatsoever... but the problem is the Compass Mode button that you can tap above doesn't show. there's no bar above the map (see attachment).
I dont really care about the 3D thing, I just need the Compass Mode feature so the map would automatically rotate and follow the orientation im facing based on the built in compass.
Anyone knows the solution?
thanks!!
GMM5.0 runs in 2D/raster mode on most devices. Try this version to enable 3D/vector mode: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9868137#post9868137

Wow thanks man! Ill be trying this one out later. I have a few questions:
1) I don't need my phone to be rooted, right?
2) Im thinking of uninstalling the GMM 5.0 update that I have to bring it back to the stock GMM first, before I install your version of GMM, is that good?
3) Your version is also uninstallable without taking out the stock GMM, right? (just in case it doesn't work on my X10 Mini Pro)
Thanks!
If you don't have a root and original GMM is a system app (it was installed by default), then unfortunately you won't be able to install above file, sorry.

on second thought, if i root my phone and use titanium backup to uninstall the GMM systam app, would that allow me to install your modified GMM 5.0?

Yes, if you uninstall original GMM, then you should be able to install above modded GMM. And you should not have any problem with uninstalling it later. People sometimes has problems, cause they install modded GMM as system app - they copy it to /system/app instead of installing it like any other app.

had the same issue. Tried your solution Brut.
Installed flawlessly. But compass mode still not available!! Is there anyone that got this to work successfully on x10 mini pro?
i somehow lost all my app links in the market, i have about 130 apps installed and would like to have the possibility again to update them.
is there any way to get my app links back in the market?
Titanium Backup
already tried Titanum Backup but it says that there are no recoverable links or something like that....
any other methods other than reinstalling all the apps?
Lol, if you don't want to reïnstall all the apps, how would youvlike it?
Only way is backing up your app + data to restore with links
i have them all backed up with titanium but reinstalling them with TB doesnt fix the market problem...
In titanium delete the data for the market and install one app on the market and uninstall it
well i had to reinstall all the apps for them to be visible again... i hope that doesnt happen again.
now i have an other problem, whenever i move a app to the SD card it also disappears from the market.
any way to display them if they are on the SD card?
I´m with the same problem. After installing CM7 last build I receive the new Android Market (2.2.11) and all my downloaded links gone from the market.
When I look for an already installed application its appear as not installed and then I have to download and install it again to its appear in market downloaded list.
Any way to fix that?

i could not find a other solution, in titanium backup/restore you can long hold on the apps and then go directly to the market to download them, that made it a bit less painful to install them again

Yeah I find another similar stupied solution: QuikMarketLinks, this app will list all your installed applications and link to their market page. I downloaded again 60 programs.
If you install AppBrain application you'll be able to reinstall all your applications in one shot (provided that you had already synchronized your phone with the site) as the list is saved on the site. I'm not sure it will reinstall your market links yet but this isn't a big problem as AppBrain - like the official market - shows when there are updates .
I've also noticed that the applications that I've got on my SD card are displayed as non-installed in the market whereas they are displayed as installed in AppBrain app.
The bonus of the application is that you can browse the Appbrain site on your PC, select the applications that you want to install and when you synchronize your phone it will install these applications.
Really a great app!
You might want to try this as it worked for me.
I installed several apps manually by running the apk and selecting install. These apps didnt appear in market as installed, and presumably werent being checked for updates.
I went into settings->Applications->Manage Applications->All->Market->Force Stop & Clear Data
Launched Market again and after re-accepting the terms, all the apps that I had manually installed now appear in my list of installed apps.

1+ worked for me thanks
I have tried this out - worked for me in under 10 seconds on HD2 running CoreDroid. I had over 65 'misssing' apps

well i tried the market fix and it did nothing...
also as soon as i move a app 2 SD i no longer have it in the market:/
someone has his apps on the SD and is still able to see them in the market?

Ditto! thanks a lot mate!
Got into my usual workflow in Titanium Backup, and guess I did something I shouldn't have on my Xoom... let it integrate all updated system apps to the ROM.
The 4 listed were Maps, Cordy, DunDef, and MyApps
I don't seem to have any issues with the first 3, but when in the Market, and hitting "My apps" I get force close of My Apps (process com.android.vending)
I have tried clearing cache & data on Market, Market Feedback Agent, Market Updater & My Apps... no help.
Is there any way to get/reinstall the original MyApps with out full a re-flash?
SOLVED: For a non destructive (ie no wipe) fix to my issue...
- First I flashed a root preped HRI66 system.img from roebeet http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995785 following his instructions.
- Second I re-flashed Tiamat kernal and modules http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978013
- Third I re-cleared cache for Market and MyApps
- DONE. Working fine again.

Yeah. 17.9 gb free
I can install new apps from the market, but get weird notifications during download and after install. I would need to go DL something to find the exact messages.. but something like..
"1#% download"
"app already purchased or is still being processed"
"application failed"
Though the apps (a couple free ones) installed and ran fine.
rooted? 3g or wifi?
3g
v3.0.1 - Tiamat v1.3 Kernal - Rooted
do you have your sdcard?
I would just reflash. that would be the only way. if you have working sdcard i would back up all the apps to it
No way to just push that one piece eh? damn.
I figured out a non-destructive way to solve this. I am adding that info to OP in case it will help someone.
all you should have needed to do was simply uninstall the update to My Apps.that's what I did and it fixed the problem

I was unable to do that, the button was grayed out. That was the first thing I looked to do when it happened.
Hi everyone!
so I installed an application (extended controls) "from unknown source" to check it was working on my tf and worth it.
and I can not uninstall it from application manager. force stop and unistall aren't available. i tried to install other versions I found and i got the same issue.
Is there a harder way to uninstall it? i couldn't find any
i'm rooted and on ICS stock.
thanks.
use titanium backup and uninstall it [or settings -> apps -> find it uninstall]... or find the apk and delete it from /data/app/
next time... don't pirate apps. theres a refund window for a reason.
Worked. thanks a lot!
i'll keep your advice in mind.
I downloaded the latest "settings" on telegram, but once installed, I can't access anymore... The application opens then closes straight away..
Any solution to fix? Or do I have to do a reset?
You probably installed a incompatible version, if you use a appmanager you should be able to locate the app (settings) go to manage then uninstall updates it should revert it back.
I've done this and encountered the same issues
I used this; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lb.app_manager
There are certainly other apps that do the same thing
Thanks for your reply..
I installed this application but it can't work because it needs permissions, and each time I try to access to permissions... It closes
So I used "files" which was already installed and managed to go down factory settings
All works now..
Thank you for giving me this idea

Like I say I've been there & done that, I too have installed "updated" OnePlus apps sometimes with success sometimes with crashes.
You should always be able to downgrade/revert.
Sometimes you get quirky faults
But I've managed to get the theme store and various other things working like fonts etc... I'm still unrooted and standard oos.
I use my NFC a lot and I can't risk tripping saftynet just yet.
