Hi Guys,
I have updated my X10 Mini Pro with Google Maps 5.0, it updated fine without any errors whatsoever... but the problem is the Compass Mode button that you can tap above doesn't show. there's no bar above the map (see attachment).
I dont really care about the 3D thing, I just need the Compass Mode feature so the map would automatically rotate and follow the orientation im facing based on the built in compass.
Anyone knows the solution?
thanks!!
GMM5.0 runs in 2D/raster mode on most devices. Try this version to enable 3D/vector mode: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9868137#post9868137

Wow thanks man! Ill be trying this one out later. I have a few questions:
1) I don't need my phone to be rooted, right?
2) Im thinking of uninstalling the GMM 5.0 update that I have to bring it back to the stock GMM first, before I install your version of GMM, is that good?
3) Your version is also uninstallable without taking out the stock GMM, right? (just in case it doesn't work on my X10 Mini Pro)
Thanks!
If you don't have a root and original GMM is a system app (it was installed by default), then unfortunately you won't be able to install above file, sorry.

on second thought, if i root my phone and use titanium backup to uninstall the GMM systam app, would that allow me to install your modified GMM 5.0?

Yes, if you uninstall original GMM, then you should be able to install above modded GMM. And you should not have any problem with uninstalling it later. People sometimes has problems, cause they install modded GMM as system app - they copy it to /system/app instead of installing it like any other app.

I am not sure whether this has been posted in the N1 apps forum before.
I just stumbled upon this in the desire forum. Basically this is a modded GMAPS apk which has World Wide navigation enabled. This helps for people like me who stay in countries (India) where official GMAPS navigation is not enabled.
Attached is the APK file.
Also the newest version can be found at the below site.
http://translate.google.co.in/trans...t+mod&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&prmd=ivns
EDIT:
Steps to install thanks to mynameisjon
1. In Titanium Backup, select Maps and make a backup in case anything goes wrong (you might wanna nandroid instead, but I find this works fine.
2. Select Maps and wipe data, then uninstall.
3. Select Street View and wipe data, then uninstall (may be unnecessary, but I found it worked, so you can let me know if it doesn't need to be done).
4. Install this apk(it's a resigned version that's linked to the market, so you can get updates*.
5. Go to market, and reinstall street view.
*If you updated from market, Navigation will be deactivated according to Google's restrictions again, so I recommend unchecking auto-update.
EDIT: 05/12/2011
A new version is available... --> http://translate.google.co.in/trans...t+mod&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&prmd=ivns
5.2.1 is on the above link too (latest version as per the market)
direct link: http://www.mediafire.com/?b83cel02g8gr6hr
Code:
I am trying to install 5.2.1 & will report with results in a few moments
It works as stated
It says "application not installed"
Yeah. 1 thing i forgot to mention is that you would have to uninstall existing Maps application if any. Otherwise the installation would fail.
it works. thanks
I've removed the original Google Maps 5.2.1 from Google, But it still won't install!!
What happend?
This worked for me:
Uninstall original maps with titanium backup, then copy maps5.2.1-ownhere.apk to /system/app with root explorer or similar. do not install

You'll need root as the Map file is in system (no access to it without root)
This map is for the country that cant use navigation on google map. It has been hacked and can be used by any country now.
google maps 6.0 ownhereMOD for unroot devices or for root
Installation for root:
1. In Titanium Backup, select Maps and make a backup.
2. Select Maps and wipe data, then uninstall.
3. Select Street View and wipe data, then uninstall
4. Install Google Maps 6.x ownhere.apk
5. Go to market, and reinstall street view.
or ADB
first uninstall Maps from /system/app
HTML Code:
adb remount
adb push /maps5.x.apk /system/app
Alternative installation method
Note:
For those who get the "Login Failed" message, and don't get the three warning triangles .
1. Install original maps from market.
2. Sign in and join latititude
3. Back up maps in titanium, app and data.
4. Wipe date and uninstall maps
5. Install resign version. DO NOT RUN, reboot right after installing.
6. After reboot, go to titanium and restore DATA only.
yea and unchecking auto-update on the marked.
Thanks to Brut.all and ownhere
Thank you! Navigation is now enabled in my country

Hi way2me25,
See you can not have both the maps (orig. and modded) installed side by side. You can try Titanium Backup (free ver.) and take a backup of your stock map app. Then installed the modded version and in future if you want to go back to stock, just restore the original from Titanium.
Hope it'll help you.
Thanks,
Thanks!
Installed, and everything works flawless...

yes, you need to have root access to use Titanium backup, BTW the apk file that is attached in the post 1 does not require root, you can simply install it via any file manager e.g. ES File Explorer.
Thanks,

Omni Jaws weather app
fixed no weather data error
Note:
This app is one of the system app of Aosp, RR, Omni Os, dotOs and etc. ROMs, it may not work on all versions of Android.
If you encounter an error during installation, you must uninstall the previous version
and sorry for my bad English
Hamid from Iran
edit : files removed and u can download new updates from here
Thanks
I've been trying to update omnijaws. It doesn't update, so I've been trying to uninstall it, without success - with warden, titanium, system app remover and link2sd. All them fail to uninstall. So now I can't update it, not even have access to the one installed on my phone.
Someone can give me some help with this?

There's some way that put it to show on lockscreen?
And there's a way to install other icon pack? I've tried downloading one, but it doesn't show on the app.

Yes from this way settings > extensions > lockscreen > lockscreen ui , you can enable it. And for icon pack you can search the Chronus icon and install it.
With Android 10 (crDroid 6.10) it doesn't work, the default launcher crashes. After a long search I've found the OmniJaws app 1.09 from here. It has a lot of weather providers and runs fine. The default OmniJaws app 1.0 has stopped to work since yesterday. You can easily update without uninstalling the standard app.
In order to prevent launcher crash don't use @Hamidltf 's APKs in the 1st message! Finally, @Nobby1960 's solution saved my phone from launcher-crash after the installation. imho, the first message should be edited with the latest OmniJaws APK: https://github.com/vladrevers/OmniJaws/releases

Try this : open camera app properties and check if you have an option to uninstall the updates.
Otherwise, factory reset of the phone should revert to stock app.
