[Q] [Solved] MyApps (com.android.vending) crashing - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Got into my usual workflow in Titanium Backup, and guess I did something I shouldn't have on my Xoom... let it integrate all updated system apps to the ROM.
The 4 listed were Maps, Cordy, DunDef, and MyApps
I don't seem to have any issues with the first 3, but when in the Market, and hitting "My apps" I get force close of My Apps (process com.android.vending)
I have tried clearing cache & data on Market, Market Feedback Agent, Market Updater & My Apps... no help.
Is there any way to get/reinstall the original MyApps with out full a re-flash?
SOLVED: For a non destructive (ie no wipe) fix to my issue...
- First I flashed a root preped HRI66 system.img from roebeet http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995785 following his instructions.
- Second I re-flashed Tiamat kernal and modules http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978013
- Third I re-cleared cache for Market and MyApps
- DONE. Working fine again.

do you have at least 2gb of space available

Yeah. 17.9 gb free
I can install new apps from the market, but get weird notifications during download and after install. I would need to go DL something to find the exact messages.. but something like..
"1#% download"
"app already purchased or is still being processed"
"application failed"
Though the apps (a couple free ones) installed and ran fine.

rooted? 3g or wifi?

3g
v3.0.1 - Tiamat v1.3 Kernal - Rooted

do you have your sdcard?

I would just reflash. that would be the only way. if you have working sdcard i would back up all the apps to it

No way to just push that one piece eh? damn.

I figured out a non-destructive way to solve this. I am adding that info to OP in case it will help someone.

all you should have needed to do was simply uninstall the update to My Apps.that's what I did and it fixed the problem

I was unable to do that, the button was grayed out. That was the first thing I looked to do when it happened.

how to fix market links?

i somehow lost all my app links in the market, i have about 130 apps installed and would like to have the possibility again to update them.
is there any way to get my app links back in the market?
Titanium Backup
already tried Titanum Backup but it says that there are no recoverable links or something like that....
any other methods other than reinstalling all the apps?
Lol, if you don't want to reïnstall all the apps, how would youvlike it?
Only way is backing up your app + data to restore with links
i have them all backed up with titanium but reinstalling them with TB doesnt fix the market problem...
In titanium delete the data for the market and install one app on the market and uninstall it
well i had to reinstall all the apps for them to be visible again... i hope that doesnt happen again.
now i have an other problem, whenever i move a app to the SD card it also disappears from the market.
any way to display them if they are on the SD card?
I´m with the same problem. After installing CM7 last build I receive the new Android Market (2.2.11) and all my downloaded links gone from the market.
When I look for an already installed application its appear as not installed and then I have to download and install it again to its appear in market downloaded list.
Any way to fix that?

i could not find a other solution, in titanium backup/restore you can long hold on the apps and then go directly to the market to download them, that made it a bit less painful to install them again

Yeah I find another similar stupied solution: QuikMarketLinks, this app will list all your installed applications and link to their market page. I downloaded again 60 programs.
If you install AppBrain application you'll be able to reinstall all your applications in one shot (provided that you had already synchronized your phone with the site) as the list is saved on the site. I'm not sure it will reinstall your market links yet but this isn't a big problem as AppBrain - like the official market - shows when there are updates .
I've also noticed that the applications that I've got on my SD card are displayed as non-installed in the market whereas they are displayed as installed in AppBrain app.
The bonus of the application is that you can browse the Appbrain site on your PC, select the applications that you want to install and when you synchronize your phone it will install these applications.
Really a great app!
You might want to try this as it worked for me.
I installed several apps manually by running the apk and selecting install. These apps didnt appear in market as installed, and presumably werent being checked for updates.
I went into settings->Applications->Manage Applications->All->Market->Force Stop & Clear Data
Launched Market again and after re-accepting the terms, all the apps that I had manually installed now appear in my list of installed apps.

1+ worked for me thanks
I have tried this out - worked for me in under 10 seconds on HD2 running CoreDroid. I had over 65 'misssing' apps
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.andirc.erismarketfix
well i tried the market fix and it did nothing...
also as soon as i move a app 2 SD i no longer have it in the market:/
someone has his apps on the SD and is still able to see them in the market?

Getting a lot of "Application not installed"

When i try to install an .apk (especially 15mb and above of full games) from the sd card i get a lot of "Application not installed" when earlier it used to install. I have Dinc with Redemption Rom 2.4, froyo 2.2. I don't get any low space notifications and there is enough space all around. I don't want to flash my rom again. Is there a solution so i get to keep what i have and continue to install more apps. thanks.
Here's one solution that worked for me:
I installed Android Market 3.0.27 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166152
I cleared the market cash and Google services framework data as per the steps described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893538
Then the trick that did it was to disable app2SD under settings/applications.
I still am missing some apps in the market (Skype, Facebook, Google Maps, etc.) but at least I can install them from apk files now.
I hope this helps.
Cheers

[Q] Market Keeps Crashing when accessing MyApps or installing new App

I have a rooted US Wifi xoom with 3.2. I can search for and download apps but if I try to install it, the market crashes . Also when I go to myapps it also crashes.
After I rooted the xoom, I installed the netflix app (and modified build.prop file so show my device as an HTC Vision)and the market still worked after i did all this, but I'm not sure what else could cause it to stop working.
Any ideas?
Update:
Fixed the issue by clearing the cache and data in the MyApps application.

[Q] Play Store keeps force closing

Last night I was trying to root and flash a custom rom to my tablet, I wasn't able to finish flashing the rom because I noticed Google Play Store wasn't opening. I couldn't download Rom Manager or any other apps for that matter. I was doing everything I could from clearing the cache, data, even wiping the data and cash in the fastboot mode and flashing another GApps to the tablet. Everything I've tried won't get me anywhere. It tells me to log in with an account, then immediately says: The application Google Play Store (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. I did try flashing a rom through fastboot mode, even though it didn't do anything, so I thought this might be the problem? I haven't tried anything else yet. Any help is appreciated.
EDIT: I have the SCH-i815 verizon 4G LTE tablet on stock android 3.2. It is rooted.
EDIT 2: I also noticed that Google Maps and other such apps are no longer on my device. I noticed that Google Services Framework (not sure of words) are on my other devices but not on this one. I tried going into the check for system update settings and it crashed giving me almost the same message as the Google Play Store crash force close message

I recall having FC issues with previous tabs. Repaired by Fixing Permissions in CWM.
HTH
Hi there,
If anyone still encountering FC/not dowloading apps for Playstore or market, it might also be the cause of new partition or something like that, you can try this another option freely other than fixing permission of vending.apk on /system/app/..
This might help you guys .
1. check if cache folder has "download" folder inside it, if it no download folder then create one inside /cache, e.g. mkdir /cache/download.
2. then chmod the /cache folder to 777, also make sure the com.android.vending folder is present inside /data/data/ folder.
3. You can achive it through shell terminal.
Hope this helps you guys fix the FC(Force close or not downloading apps on playstore or market).
Hit thanks if it helps.
Thanks

Google Play Store error -505? Help Needed

First off I'm going to start off with sorry if I have the wrong section to be making this thread.
I rooted my galaxy s7 g930v and everything works fine, I used trickster mod & l - speed to fix the whole lag and battery issues so there's no problem there
I downloaded the main root apps I use (Root Browser; Game Guardian; Lucky Patcher; Flashfire; Terminal Emulator; & a few more speed tweak apps)
After a few hours of having root I have had no problems with the phone, It ran smoothly and didn't show anything wrong. When I went back to the google play store later on yesterday I would go to install my basic everyday apps like Facebook & Kik stuff like that. But, when I downloaded them and it was showing the Installing... process It popped up a message and showed "App Could No Install" error code -505? (This error also occurs while I'm attempting to install a apk I had got off other sites other than google play store). I checked the troubleshoot guide they provided, but it was the same stuff they always provide, "Make sure you have sufficient storage" or "Clear data & cache and restart device". None of those had worked :/
I went ahead and factory data reset my phone and cleared dalvik cache and cache and it had fixed it for a little while, then it started again. I am thinking it may be something with lucky patcher possibly & I would want to test that theory. but I am afraid that if I uninstall lucky patcher & it wasn't the problem all along, well I won't be able to reinstall it until I would be able to find a solution.
I hope there is a fix to this, or someone could help me figure this out
Thanks in advance - iiXAtomXii

You will not find any help here. Lucky patcher is a banned and hated app. Many apps are causing issues if it is detected. Things like causing the device to bootloop or uninstalling itself.
My advise would be to stop using lucky patcher. That or find another site.
