it depends on what you've modified/removed. If you haven't removed any of the "bloat" the phone should recieve OTAs fine. If you have it should still receive them, but depending on what the update is trying to patch it will most likely fail.

it shouldn't, but only time will tell... why the need though? Any OTA updates that come out are going to be old news by the time they hit this phone... Why not just hop to CM or any number of other roms out there?

That's true. Never thought of out like that. Lol. Thanks bro. I'm looking into the gorilla sense rom. But what happens if I don't want to use setcpu to overclock? What does the clockspeed stay at
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App

I actually use gorilla, i think by default his kernels are set to 800, but they allow you to go up to 1.7 so you can set it to what you want/need

^ This is accurate. The OTA updates will check to make sure the phone is "stock" before installing. They will download fine, just won't install.
I had this problem on my mytouch 3g. I deleted the amazon mp3 app from my stock rom and the froyo update failed. Big pain in the ass.

Correct. When I finally copied the amazon mp3 app back to where it was supposed to be the update installed without incident.
If you want to remove the bloatware, DON'T delete it. Use Root Explorer to MOVE it to a safe place on your sdcard so you can MOVE it back if you want to receive an ota.
If you install a custom rom, ALWAYS keeps a nandroid of stock in case you want to go back and receive OTAs.

So it doesn't rename the app or anything? I was thinking I could manually do the same with Root Explorer by renaming bloatware from *.apk to *.bloat or something. In fact, maybe I'll do that...

No, hboot is where you check for s-off.
Power off phone.
Pull and reinsert battery just to be sure you're truly OFF.
Hold vol down + power until you get to a white screen. THAT'S hboot.
From here the phone should auto-detect pd15img.zip and prompt you to start the update. DON'T TOUCH IT UNTIL COMPLETE.

Received update notification today, and I'm not running a stock ROM...

I always thought if you were not running a stock rom, you would not get updates pushed.
I'm running Dilligaf. I'm pretty sure since I'm rooted and running a stock rom that the update will fail.
Not sure what to do. Any recommendations, besides just living with the notification?

Thanks. I don't know if I want it or not, because I don't know what is in it.
If it's for sideloading only, I don't need it, because Dilligaf already allows that.

I gathered that. I just want the notication gone... Last time an update was pushed, i was running a stock rooted rom. ATTN released a new rom with the ota update integrated into it. Loading that rom eliminated the update message.
Looks like I'll have to wait for Dilligaf to put the update into his rom...

I just updated to 2.3.3 using htc update

May have posted but I just updated to 2.3.3 using the HTC WiFi update on the phone. I was running the stock ATT Rom

Its not an issue really. It is how the rest of the world sets their numbers. And lets not forget where HTC is. Your best bet is to just set up your numbers with the +1 in front like the rest of the world. They are not gonna change this for the few US based phones that come out. Oh and its ATT that is supposed to make those changes.

I'm pretty sure this doesn't fix it for everyone. (Definitely doesn't fix it for me.) Is there any other step besides adding +1?
All my contacts are +13333333333. The names eventually show up, but a reboot makes them disappear.
EDIT: I do agree though, it wouldn't be an issue otherwise.

Like someone asked previously does this still allow you to get ota updates?
and od you have an idea of improvments
I downloaded it last night and these are the things I noticed.
-I do have to note that I didn't have the wifi issue so I can't comment on that.
-The notification led bug still exists where you turn it off yet it still seems to blink.
-When I click on YouTube link it actually takes me to the YouTube app instead of the mobile page.
- I haven't noticed any difference in speed and performance. Seems the same to me.

[Verizon]How do you freeze OTA updates from occurring?

Install apex launcher. Make a shortcut, choose activities and find SDM and choose the one that says defer general. Open the shortcut you just made and it allows you to set a defer update date.

It's illegal to push an OTA and not give you the option to confirm the install. You can always decline.

There supposedly is an AT&T update that takes away the universal search from the Google bar. That's not an update. At this point in time, I don't want the phone updating itself. Reading other posts, it seems one can defer the update, but I'm not sure how long one can do that.

I dont have my phone until later today but in the past I would edit the build.prop (ro.build.fingerprint=) to have the release keys be the same as the ota. This would trick it into thinking that you already have the ota and not bug you about it anymore.

How To Trick your phone into thinking it already has OTA.
You will need to be Rooted
You will Need To Obtain a Copy of the OTA Build.prop located in the system folder of the ota.
1. Place OTA build.prop on your device somewhere for you to access.
2. Mount File System using ES File Explorer (Navigate to menu/settings and check box "Root Explorer" and the check box "Mount File System"
3. Open the OTA build.prop and copy the txt of the (ro.build.fingerprint=) and close it.
4. Navigate to /system/build.prop and open it.
5. Navigate to (ro.build.fingerprint=) and paste/replace contents from OTA version. Save. Reboot.
No OTA Notification. Until the next OTA At least

here's what I suggest since you debloated. Your bootloader needs to be unlocked and you need to have a custom recovery like twrp installed.
Once you have that taken care of, flash the rooted 2.20 ROM posted by scrosler.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812459
this way you get all of the features of the OTA except the Radio, but that can be flashed separately.
You also retain root, and keep the ability to flash kernels and radios from recovery in the future.

It's a little late for this probably but for future reference if you are rooted and want to stop receiving OTA updates remove/rename/delete HtcOMADM_ATT.apk and HtcOMADM_ATT.odex from system/apps, wipe cache and dalvik.
