I need help. I have a rooted ATT One x running 1.85 stock rom. I debranded using JSLEnterprises method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634171 and have lost the ATT software update button in settings. How can I upgrade to the latest update without losing all my data? Any help is appreciated.

Don't really care if I lose root as I really didn't use it for anything other than removing the att files.

here's what I suggest since you debloated. Your bootloader needs to be unlocked and you need to have a custom recovery like twrp installed.
Once you have that taken care of, flash the rooted 2.20 ROM posted by scrosler.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812459
this way you get all of the features of the OTA except the Radio, but that can be flashed separately.
You also retain root, and keep the ability to flash kernels and radios from recovery in the future.

I'll give that a go. Thanks for the quick replies. Will I lose any data by doing this though?
If your bootloader is locked unlocking will wipe the phone. Get titanium back up to back up your apps and stuff

You can also go to App Drawer>Downloads and delete the download.

I don't know if you answered this already, but I found the solutions over at this thread:

It's a little late for this probably but for future reference if you are rooted and want to stop receiving OTA updates remove/rename/delete HtcOMADM_ATT.apk and HtcOMADM_ATT.odex from system/apps, wipe cache and dalvik. If you want to remove "AT&T software update" from the "Settings" then remove HtcOMADM_SettingsPlugin_ATT.apk and HtcOMADM_SettingsPlugin_ATT.odex from system/apps, wipe cache and dalvik.

it depends on what you've modified/removed. If you haven't removed any of the "bloat" the phone should recieve OTAs fine. If you have it should still receive them, but depending on what the update is trying to patch it will most likely fail.

it shouldn't, but only time will tell... why the need though? Any OTA updates that come out are going to be old news by the time they hit this phone... Why not just hop to CM or any number of other roms out there?

^ This is accurate. The OTA updates will check to make sure the phone is "stock" before installing. They will download fine, just won't install.
I had this problem on my mytouch 3g. I deleted the amazon mp3 app from my stock rom and the froyo update failed. Big pain in the ass.

Correct. When I finally copied the amazon mp3 app back to where it was supposed to be the update installed without incident.
If you want to remove the bloatware, DON'T delete it. Use Root Explorer to MOVE it to a safe place on your sdcard so you can MOVE it back if you want to receive an ota.
If you install a custom rom, ALWAYS keeps a nandroid of stock in case you want to go back and receive OTAs.

So it doesn't rename the app or anything? I was thinking I could manually do the same with Root Explorer by renaming bloatware from *.apk to *.bloat or something. In fact, maybe I'll do that...

No, hboot is where you check for s-off.
Power off phone.
Pull and reinsert battery just to be sure you're truly OFF.
Hold vol down + power until you get to a white screen. THAT'S hboot.
From here the phone should auto-detect pd15img.zip and prompt you to start the update. DON'T TOUCH IT UNTIL COMPLETE.
Hi guys... I put the Bubby's Stock ROM on my Inspire 4G right After I bought my phone a few month ago and then I ve lost track of everything... now what I would like to understand is what updates are currently available if I go back to stock???
I've heard about sideloading enabled by ATT and HUSPA enabled by HTC.. is this true?
So my question is if i go back to RUU stock will I get all this stuff and if yes can I download SuperUser and all that cool root stuff and just remove the bloat myself but keeping the updates from ATT???

Or you can keep your rooted phone that already has sideloading enabled, flash the stock rooted rom that has the other radio-related updates included, available in the dev section, and save yourself the unnecessary trouble.... All those updates are available here without having to get them via ATT/htc.
Look for the ace Cingular rom by Attn1 in the dev section.

There is no need to do that. Just flash the latest from here and you will remain rooted. It's the latest firmware and radio from AT&T. Make sure you choose the one that has sideloading enabled.

This rom does a full wipe. You will lose everything that is on the phone. Sd card contents are safe. Contacts are most likely backed up to the HTC Sense server, but I would export them to the sd card anyways. Unless you have them in Google, then you should be good. Apps will need to be reinstalled.

I imagine this removes root, correct?
I imagine it would, but I guess that's up to you if the update is worth losing root.

Like someone asked previously does this still allow you to get ota updates?
and od you have an idea of improvments
I downloaded it last night and these are the things I noticed.
-I do have to note that I didn't have the wifi issue so I can't comment on that.
-The notification led bug still exists where you turn it off yet it still seems to blink.
-When I click on YouTube link it actually takes me to the YouTube app instead of the mobile page.
- I haven't noticed any difference in speed and performance. Seems the same to me.

If I want the new OTA, I could just do it manually which would cause me to loose my root correct? Then I could just use the One click new method to reroot, unlock, and gain recovery? Last question would be would I then be able to put my rom(saved in recovery back on the phone with the new build??? Thx

If you're rooted now, I'm sure there is the new OTA out there that can be flashed. That's all you gotta do if you wanna run the stock OTA. But you won't gain anything by unrooting, taking the OTA and then rerooting... just a waste of time.

If you accept the updates and if it goes through, yes, you would lose the root.
Are you sure you are completely rooted? Because you shouldn't be receiving those update notifications if you are.
