Its not an issue really. It is how the rest of the world sets their numbers. And lets not forget where HTC is. Your best bet is to just set up your numbers with the +1 in front like the rest of the world. They are not gonna change this for the few US based phones that come out. Oh and its ATT that is supposed to make those changes.

I'm pretty sure this doesn't fix it for everyone. (Definitely doesn't fix it for me.) Is there any other step besides adding +1?
All my contacts are +13333333333. The names eventually show up, but a reboot makes them disappear.
EDIT: I do agree though, it wouldn't be an issue otherwise.

For some reason when i do the check for updates it tells me my phone is up to date. I know i can download the update manually but i would rather not have to as it wipes my phone. Are their any solutions ?? Thank you in advance for anybody who assists me

You can check or keep waiting. Or you can use one of the roms that are have been based on this release and been around for over a week

does it affect the wifi hotspot tethering when adding a custom APN to all who updated officially 2.3 GB?
can anyone confirm this..Thanks

worked perfectly. thanks bro
I was not getting mine either. I called T-Mobile today and they said my IMEI number was still showing for my G2. I gave them my IMEI number and within 2 hours I had the update. She also said even though they don't have the capability to push the OTA update, she said the tech support people have more options and might be able to push it.
I called T-Mo today as my wife and I both bought a MT4G. No OTA 5 hours later. Android Support said you need to make at least 1 phone call to register the phone on the network then it will be scheduled to receive the update within 48 hours. Waiting
I am the opposite as you guys. I have the update waiting, but I refuse to download and install it because I read in another thread that it will give Tmo control of the WiFi hotspot and tether and can charge you after the 14th I believe. And I like my free WiFi hotspot. I don't remember which thread it was though. So I will look into it further.
I want the ota so I can get a full root going...always the wifi tether project if they really do lock something down

My phone was not showing up on my T-Mobile account, thanks for that tip! Hopefully I will get my update soon, just got my phone few hours ago.
Those of you who are waiting on your OTAs, remember to run aLogcat before you download/install to help out those who haven't gotten it yet! I'm running mine now.

Has anyone received their update since root has been achieved? Would they pull the update because of this?

it depends on what you've modified/removed. If you haven't removed any of the "bloat" the phone should recieve OTAs fine. If you have it should still receive them, but depending on what the update is trying to patch it will most likely fail.

^ This is accurate. The OTA updates will check to make sure the phone is "stock" before installing. They will download fine, just won't install.
I had this problem on my mytouch 3g. I deleted the amazon mp3 app from my stock rom and the froyo update failed. Big pain in the ass.

Correct. When I finally copied the amazon mp3 app back to where it was supposed to be the update installed without incident.
If you want to remove the bloatware, DON'T delete it. Use Root Explorer to MOVE it to a safe place on your sdcard so you can MOVE it back if you want to receive an ota.
If you install a custom rom, ALWAYS keeps a nandroid of stock in case you want to go back and receive OTAs.

So it doesn't rename the app or anything? I was thinking I could manually do the same with Root Explorer by renaming bloatware from *.apk to *.bloat or something. In fact, maybe I'll do that...

No, hboot is where you check for s-off.
Power off phone.
Pull and reinsert battery just to be sure you're truly OFF.
Hold vol down + power until you get to a white screen. THAT'S hboot.
From here the phone should auto-detect pd15img.zip and prompt you to start the update. DON'T TOUCH IT UNTIL COMPLETE.

Gingerbread Update

Hey all,
My friend has the Inspire on ATT and is still waiting for his Gingerbread update. He's tried pulling it from the settings menu and no dice. Any ideas? Has ATT pulled the update?
Thanks!

Your gonna have to manually update via the RUU posted on HTC.com. Keep in mind that manually updating will wipe the phone. Here's the link:

It is the second from the top. Just follow the directions on that page for applying the update.

Be aware that there were some problems with the official GB update, like the stock messaging app not recognizing known contacts. That's one of the reasons why there's such a large number of rooted Inspires.
I had the contacts issue with my inspire and finally just rooted. Now with a new Rom it works great.

I was aware because it happened with mine. That's why I started using Go SMS Pro, since rooting and flashing the ROM I have no issues. I think I'm just going to wait until they get tired of their farm game and just root it and flash a ROM to their phones as well. A lot of people I heard from before I found this site said the GB update caused a lot of issues with the Inspire.

Update 1.82

Have you guys seen this yet?
http://briefmobile.com/download-att-one-x-update-with-wifi-fix
It supposedly fixes the wifi issues, has anyone downloaded it? If so, have you noticed if any of the other reported issues are fixed?
I imagine this removes root, correct?
I imagine it would, but I guess that's up to you if the update is worth losing root.

Like someone asked previously does this still allow you to get ota updates?
and od you have an idea of improvments
I downloaded it last night and these are the things I noticed.
-I do have to note that I didn't have the wifi issue so I can't comment on that.
-The notification led bug still exists where you turn it off yet it still seems to blink.
-When I click on YouTube link it actually takes me to the YouTube app instead of the mobile page.
- I haven't noticed any difference in speed and performance. Seems the same to me.
