Login to my.t-mobile.com and make sure your phone is set to a MyTouch 4G. I did that, and when I checked my phone I saw that the upgrade was installing.
Is this the 2.2.1 OTA update?

worked perfectly. thanks bro
I was not getting mine either. I called T-Mobile today and they said my IMEI number was still showing for my G2. I gave them my IMEI number and within 2 hours I had the update. She also said even though they don't have the capability to push the OTA update, she said the tech support people have more options and might be able to push it.
I called T-Mo today as my wife and I both bought a MT4G. No OTA 5 hours later. Android Support said you need to make at least 1 phone call to register the phone on the network then it will be scheduled to receive the update within 48 hours. Waiting
I am the opposite as you guys. I have the update waiting, but I refuse to download and install it because I read in another thread that it will give Tmo control of the WiFi hotspot and tether and can charge you after the 14th I believe. And I like my free WiFi hotspot. I don't remember which thread it was though. So I will look into it further.
I want the ota so I can get a full root going...always the wifi tether project if they really do lock something down

My phone was not showing up on my T-Mobile account, thanks for that tip! Hopefully I will get my update soon, just got my phone few hours ago.
Those of you who are waiting on your OTAs, remember to run aLogcat before you download/install to help out those who haven't gotten it yet! I'm running mine now.

install your update, root, then wifi tether for free to your hearts content
Has anyone received their update since root has been achieved? Would they pull the update because of this?

You get that error even if you are not rooted. Think the server's just not set up to talk to the G2x (nothing to update, so it doesn't let you in)

I wonder if it will be fresh "bread" vs the hidden bloat wares that cause some of our battery drains. Also if cm7 is coming out wonder if we should wait on that vs the T-Mobile gingerbread they got coming.
Tmobile is testing the bloadwares on Gingerbread.

HTC probably released it to at&t on the 8th and at&t does their "testing" of the update. So basically it took at&t 3 weeks to "test" the update.

You wouldn't...most custom ROM's don't want Verizon OTA updates. This is basically a re-release of the updated radios (402w_1 and 605.7) so if you've already updated your radios that's basically what you'd be getting from VZW. The question is did they actually do anything to the radios or did they just hold them while they got their LTE/eHRPD issues sorted out (I tend to lean on the latter.)
If you wanna keep root, I wouldn't recommend updating. Let the devs release it.

The leak (if we're talking about jcase's leak) included the ROM where the OTA update doesn't (at least it doesn't appear to at 35 MB.) It does appear to be larger than just the leaked radios themselves (25.37 MB) but they updated a few other things so that probably accounts for the additional 10 MB.
We really aren't going to know anything until the devs tackle the update.zip.
I was recommended by jcase that you either can't or should not apply this update if rooted. Don't quote me though. I can't remember exactly what he said.

Do you need root to access the cache folder? Where is it exactly. Can't find it while connected to my computer by USB, or by ES File Explorer.
Could this also incorporate removal of free wifi hotspots? Isn't that ending soon? When I bought my Thunderbolt the rep told me it'd be removed via a software update in May.

Pretty sure that's only for new customers. Existing customers were grandfathered into the free wifi. I might be wrong though. I remember the rep told me something about it too when I got my TB in the mid of April.

Your rep was wrong. Once they figure out how much to charge, the free hotspot will be no more.
Saw on android police a couple of phones that were rooted attempted the update and it didn't go so well. One phone said update failed, another screwed their phone up. I'll wait.
When your rooted, your not supposed to update with OTA's. Wait for the devs to upload it...

lol i cant wait im downloading it now and will add root / busybox to it my self
this shouldn't remove the free hotspot verizon will not have to push a update to remove it they can turn it off on the back end just how the turn it on and off if you call them and add the tethering plan

Its not an issue really. It is how the rest of the world sets their numbers. And lets not forget where HTC is. Your best bet is to just set up your numbers with the +1 in front like the rest of the world. They are not gonna change this for the few US based phones that come out. Oh and its ATT that is supposed to make those changes.

I'm pretty sure this doesn't fix it for everyone. (Definitely doesn't fix it for me.) Is there any other step besides adding +1?
All my contacts are +13333333333. The names eventually show up, but a reboot makes them disappear.
EDIT: I do agree though, it wouldn't be an issue otherwise.

Hi,
Can any one tell me the AT&T Motorola Atrix 2 can be upgraded to the official 2.3.6 ( XWKL1 )? I just got this phone for my wife and it comes with 2.3.5 and I don't think AT&T will release 2.3.6 any time soon plus I bought the phone from my friend after he claimed the insurance ( he lost his previous A2 ) I don't have no data plan so I won't be able to get the firmware update through AT&T.
I upgraded my Samsung GS 2 ( International version ) to XWKL1 so can I upgrade my wife's A2 with the same FW through Odin then?
I will be really appreciated if some one can help me to answer this?
Might wanna wait a little because it may be updating sooner than later, hopefully. I have the Atrix 4G and just got the SOAK notice. Gonna flash fruitcake and see what they send out...

Ummmm...no. at best, Odin won't recognize the A2 BC Odin is meant for Sammy devices. At worst, if it does recognize your phone and you flash the SGS2 firmware to the A2, you will most likely end up with an unusable brick.

Atrix 2 will probably be getting 2.3.7 pretty soon. Stay tuned.
By the way the atrix 2 gets OTA updates, not usually from a file that you flash to the phone. You will usually get a notice on your phone that an update is available for download, and ask you what to do, all wireless.

What ROM are you currently running? I would recommend flashing the 2.3.5 fkz's rerooting, and then using forever root. Then try using the OTA update. Or you could wait until lfaber06 incorporates this into his SC ROM which will make things a LOT easier.
I am on supercharged v4. I will do that and see hat happens.
