The source is available. It's easy to build.
The differences are not worth it for me to build one. But you may be surprised how easy it would be to build your own.
As not every phone runs stable at the same voltage and frequency combination , you would get the benefit of knowing you took it as low as *your* phone can.
Good luck. Let me know if you want to try, I would try to help you get started.

if i had a nickle for every time someone posted this thread on xda..lol bro its all preference some are faster but have less stuff some are slower but have alot of stuff then theres in between ...
so far I have tried Cyangenmod 7.3.1, Modacco and MIUI. I have been enjoying MIUI the most as its the most stable and easiest to customize, plus I feel that its been the fastest. Battery life hasn't been as good for me as I was hoping though and I miss the feature in cgm which lets you get rid of notifications, such as voice mail just by swiping them to the left/right.
I like SuperAOSP

Read my sig
Oxygen is possibly the fastest while MIUI is more complete. I also use to switch between the two.
miui...with stok launcher or adw lancher...
very...nice...now i'm looking for the best kernel..
I use Mikeyinid's stock-ish rom with Mathkid's matr1x kernel and it is perfect if you don't want a lot of clutter and if you like vanilla. It also has bln and voodoo capabilities plus it is oc'd to 1.2ghz to boot. Super fast, super stable.

There is no such thing as best ROM. It's all about preferance and it varies from user to user. If you've tried them all then why don't you decide which one was better for you and keep it?
Just to give you a tip, the most popular ones are oxygen, CM7 ( and nscollab which is based on it), MIUI, superaosp and infinity. Try them and see which one do you like the most.
supeaosp 8.6
I like Nscollab. Fast and good with battery. Sometimes reboots.

[Q] Looking for testers

Hi, I know I haven't contributed much to the community, so I decided to work on something.
I've just finished building a MIUI port for our phone, but I haven't tested it yet. Still in the process of making a nandroid backup right now.
So I was wondering if anybody wanted to help test this or help fix bugs and whatnot. I can't guarantee that this won't brick your phone, sorry.
So... is anybody interested?
Dude, if you post this over in the development part of the forum you'll have a bunch.
Isn't MIUI based off CM?
Also, I'd be willing to test.. as long as I can recover my phone in event of failure. Haha.

That's what I was saying haha.
Also, thanks. I'm no dev but I have messed around with building ROM'S. I'll look at it tomorrow morning and see if I can get it to boot.
EDIT: I don't see a pm, could be because I'm on the xda app falling asleep though. Shoot me one and I'll see what I can figure out.

WOW! I was just in the middle of porting when I saw this thread haha. We could possibly collaborate when I am done
Cm7 is too buggy to get MIUI good enough for daily. I suggest waiting for cm9 to work on miui 4.0 or even better one of the real time miui porter is working on the T-Mobile sgs2

Wait.. What? Some one new is working on MIUI for tmo?
That would be great news.
Do you still have your skyrocket?
Working on this now will be a waste of time as within a month or so, everybody will be turning to ICS

Anyone working on an OC kernel for the ICS leak?

Just wondering if anyone is working on an OC kernel for this wonderfully tasty ICS leak we got last night. It runs great without it I can only imagine how it would be with it!

I didn't say did anyone have one ready! I'm not crazy enough to think that less than 24 hours after it drops that someone would have something ready!
Was just wondering if someone like da_g was diving in or not.
I would but I've never touched kernel source before and really don't want to brick my newly sticky rocket ;-)
Its probably going to take a kernel source for that. Not sure though.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
Yeah, you can't modify the kernel without the source to my knowledge. I don't think anyone has been able to reverse engineer a kernel.
That said, there is kernel source available out there. Just not sure if it can be made to work on our phone or not. Thats basically what I'm trying to find out. If someone is trying to work off of existing kernel source or is everyone waiting until the official source for the included kernel becomes available?

I actually had a note for awhile and saw him over there. I was under the impression he was playing both sides of the fence? Thats a shame we lost him, I loved his kernels and they always seemed to come unhumanly fast!

New 3.4 AOSP Kernel

What's the deal with this kernel?
I feel like all the AOSP ROMs have taken like 3 steps back while trying to incorporate this new kernel compatibility. I have not experienced, nor seen/heard anything that has shown this kernel to be better in any way.
Can someone please explain what the benefits are of this kernel, and its need to exist? I know the are many other people with a similar question. Thanks in advance!

Hmmm nothing a average user will notice just like there is no real difference between dual core and quad core that a average user would notice.

Tapatalk Blue works great.

XDA Free, XDA Premium, Tapatalk and Tapatalk PRO all have trouble connecting to the forum for me as of a couple of days ago. I thought I was the only one. But it seems to work better on data than WiFi. You can get the forum to load of you keep refreshing the app. Unfortunately, we will have to use our PCs until then.. I'm lucky I was able to connect now.

I get failed to connect to forum please contact forum administrator along those lines. It seems to be getting slightly better but it still bad. If I keep refreshing a lot I can load the pages.. But it sucks because I know it's not on our side, almost certainly with XDA. I changed my IP just in case by spoofing my Mac on my router but still nothing. Other forums work well. It's unfortunately a big problem that only a handful of us are experiencing. Waiting game til someone hears our cries for help I suppose.

Thank you good sir. Didn't know that was there even after looking I'll admit. So it seems like a lot of other people are having the same problem. It definitely makes dealing with something easier when you're not the only one and saves from having to troubleshoot.
Edit : can confirm its something between XDA and our ISPs.
The problem I described happens on Xfinity Comcast Internet.
However, the problem does not occur at all on LTE T-Mobile.
