[Q] UK warranty registration - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do you register this phone in samsung uk's site? They don;t even have it displayed there.
Link from google goes to us site and only download software link is us site too (http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/GT-I9020FSTTMB)

Hmm I managed to register mine fine. Look under the battery on the nexus s. You register it as its Samsung model number i9020 or similar (from memory) and its serial number.

O2 registration

Hi guys,
I have problems registering my O2 XDA mini so i was unable to download O2 plus for my device. It seems that the IMEI is not recognized by O2.
I bought this from a friend and he told me that this was given to him as a gift by his relative that lives outside our country (The box and manual are in German.). He hasn't use this because he already have an O2 XDA IIi so he decided to sell it.
Questions:
1.) Is it really necessary to register my device?
2.) Is there any other alternative site where i can download any updates?
Any advise will be highly appreciated. Thanks and have a nice day.
sorry for the question (I'm a newbie).
any ideas?
Thanks..

[Q] Product Registration (Canada)

Has anyone been able to register their Nexus S with Samsung as of yet? I keep trying but it seems as if they haven't added the product to their registration page yet. I only want to do this in case I have to use the warranty included with the product.
They sent me an e-mail a few days after I bought my Nexus S and you needed an American zip code, so no idea if they plan on adding a Canadian one.....best bet would be to go on their site and get their number and give them a call.
I was told to call them at 1-888-751-4078 when I had problems with my Galaxy S, they were surprisingly helpful so you could try that.

[Q]

i have recently had my mobile phone stolen, galaxy s3 i9300, upon completion of the form for insurance for the insurance company asked for proof of handset, blocking and imei code and a few other details, which i got from o2.
however when i got the form my phone was listed on there website as a galaxy i8300, however the imei code on the phone matches the box and from a few website searches on imei info
the website clearly shows i own a white galaxy s3, but o2 will not accept this and categorically say that i was using the i8300.
i have never owned this phone in my life and know nobody with this handset and the dates all match to when i bought the phone sim free in london samsung Westfield and entered the sim, the only thing is the model number, and until corrected the insurance will not pay out.
can anyone please advise
Galaxy phones are all i9xxx models. Someone is being corrupt.
Try your Google play store account and download the app Plan B by Lookout Security. If you're lucky and the thief didn't reset the phone, the app will track it for you.

hi mate thanx for the reply, sorry that was my mistake writing galaxy for the mistaken phone, i wrote thhis late at night lol
so basically the phone i owned was sgs3. imei code.********* anyhow the phone company told me .
yes mr lee we have blocked ur phone, imei; *********** then they told me the imei in question belongs to a samsung i8300 (My mistake before in calling galaxy i8300), but they have provided me with the usage dates, being from the 28th may-7th june, the exact time i had my sim in the sgs3 but they insist my sim was in a i8300, i have provided a receipt for them listing the imei and my sim free sgs3 but o2 will not accept this, i dont understand,
i hope i made a bit more sense this time,
thanks in advance
ALWAYS INCLUDE A DESCRIPTIVE THREAD TITLE
Samsung phones come with model numbers i9xxx if it's a galaxy,as in,i9000,i9100,i9103, i9200,i9300 so for them to deny replacing you the phone based on it saying i8300 (this is obviously their error, the 9 is a constant) on their computers is ludicrous, considering you have a valid receipt of purchase and proper insurance, outright fraud! I suggest you insist on dealing with someone else next time your there.
Did you try the app?

[Q] Regarding buying used phones that was purchased from GooglePlay

Hi, I'm new here and have searched many threads regarding buying used Google phones specifically from Google Play and have not found a solution.
My question is that is it safe to buy a used phone (GSM Galaxy Nexus for example) that was obtained from Google Play store?
I have purchased a Galaxy nexus with the model number GT-I9250TSGGEN and have found that the IMEI # is not blacklisted currently.
Seeing as how all purchases from the Google Play store has to be paid all in full before being shipped,
is it safe to assume that these phones being sold as 2nd hand wont get blacklisted in the future?
I maybe wrong on the Galaxy Nexus GT-I9250TSGGEN is the one from Google, someone please help me verify if this is correct?
The phone can probably be blacklisted if it was later reported lost or stolen. -- Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using xda premium

they can report it to any carrier to get it blacklisted (even not registered)? aslong they have the imei #?
i thought u dont need to be with any mobile carrier when u buy from google play.
from searching the forums, i've read that you can't report to Google that the phone is lost or stolen.

Sprint MSL

Just an FYI, when you activate your new device (In my case a Note 5), Sprint will send an email regarding the activation. On this email, the phone number, model, DEC, SIM serial, and color are listed. Under these items is an activation code.
That is your MSL.
Might save some of you from calling or chatting with customer service.
Cool
I cannot seem to find it. Can you post a screenshot please?
I can verify that this is correct. I have the email and a sprint chat log and the activation code is the same as MSL code.
Just in case anyone was wondering....
I was given the run around about getting my msl even though i paid full price for an unlocked brand new note 5 because i was not the person who original bought it on the line it was only linked to when it was first paid for even though it was then removed from thar account
Bestbuy didnt give me the right code it tells me invaild
Bought 1 today, don't see it

I wonder if you activated your old phone on your account online than re activate your note 5 if sprint sends a confirming email with the msl?

When activating a phone online you get the msl on the activation screen and also sent to the email on the account. So yes to your question.

I got mine at Best Buy. There is an activation code on the paperwork but it definitely is not accepted as the MSL Code and I received no email from Sprint...probably because I got it at BB.
Just as an FYI
Just upgraded my wife's phone from the lg g2 to the note 5 today. I got an email with 2 attachments, but neither of them shows an "activation code". My email has a section called New Device Details which has the following:
Line: phone number
Device: description of phone
ESN: ESN number
ICC/SIM ID: sim card serial number
I tried to reactivate the G2 on the website and it said it can't be swapped to at this time.. I guess I'm stuck with trying to get the msl/activation number through sprint chat..
Edit: partial transcript from my chat with customer support.. Cheryl was very helpful in providing my IMIE numbers for both phones, and then gave me the MSL with no problems.. I just told her I was an information hoarder and liked to have this type of info on hand in case I needed it..
You : One other thing, somebody mentioned something about a msl number. Do you know what that is for my phone?
Cheryl S : Yes that is Mobile Subscriber Lock and that is required for Unlocking the phone and its not needed for normal day to day functioning of the phone.
You : Could you provide me with that number also please?
Cheryl S : Its XXXXXX
You : Ok, thank you very much!
