Hi guys,
I have problems registering my O2 XDA mini so i was unable to download O2 plus for my device. It seems that the IMEI is not recognized by O2.
I bought this from a friend and he told me that this was given to him as a gift by his relative that lives outside our country (The box and manual are in German.). He hasn't use this because he already have an O2 XDA IIi so he decided to sell it.
Questions:
1.) Is it really necessary to register my device?
2.) Is there any other alternative site where i can download any updates?
Any advise will be highly appreciated. Thanks and have a nice day.
sorry for the question (I'm a newbie).
any ideas?
Thanks..

Hi,
I have failed to register on http://www.clubimate.com. I would like to do a ROM update on my new tmobile XDA compact, but when trying to register the IMEI number is not correct ??!!!!! Could please somebody give its user and PW????? It is quite urgent, so I appreciate any help!
did you buy your imate 2nd hand? if you did and the previous owner registered it on clubimate.com then what you need to do is pay $40 to get membership to the site. or you can go to the ftp of this site and get the roms from there.
Club i-mate is for people who own i-mate devices. From your post, you own either a T-mobile MDA or an O2 XDA, regardless, neither of these is an i-mate, so you're out of luck accessing the i-mate site.
However, whatever ROMs you find on that site are also available on the xda-developers ftp site.
Hi folks,
A friend of mine is buying my old T-Mobile MDA Compact off me, he's on O2 PAYG and I'm looking to convert the phone to be as much like the O2 XDA equivelant as posible to avoid network issues.
Firstly, What is the O2 XDA equivelant of the MDA Compact officially known as? I've heard it's the XDA mini, but not sure.
1. Can I install/use an O2 XDA mini ROM (or updated one) to setup the phone for use on O2? I'm assuming the ROM is the only software differance between an XDA mini and MDA Compact.
2. Will this also change the radio stack, allowing the phone to accept an O2 sim card or will i need to apply a seperate unclock tool?
Where can I find O2 XDA mini ROMs? and if needed an unlock tool?
I'm hoping its as simple as just installing an O2 ROM but I'm preparing myself for the worst.
Any help and advice gratly appreciated,
Mike
Mike,
I actually did this about 6 months ago before I left the UK.
My MDA Compact was working fine on an O2 PAYG SIM card with the original T-mobile ROM on the device (I tried it also with the upgrades that were available on the website, though I don't think there are any left online now). All I did was unlock the device to allow it to accept the O2 SIM card.
I got a little bored of looking at the T-mobile bits of the ROM after a while, so I changed the ROM to the generic HTC version. This also worked fine, as it is designed to be universally compatable anyways.
I don't have the file anymore, but the unlock program I used I got off the XDA Developers drive, and I think that it was called xdadev.unlock, though I am not sure.
Hope this helps.
Be sure you are confident in what you are doing before you attempt any of the above, becqause there may be compications in any of the suggestions that I have made.

Either use the Hack kit
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952352
or use a service like this one (never have used it, don't know if it works)

Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. There is nothing on XDA on how to sim unlock your phone. That leaves you two options. Either talk to your carrier to see if they'll unlock it or you'll have to pay for an unlock code, if it's available. A couple of comments, don't give anyone your imei unless you trust them and if you go online for an unlock code check out the company. There are a lot of scams out there.

Hello everybody.
Thing about Turkey is that when you take your phone from abroad to here, after two months of using the SIM card you bought in Turkey, the phone cant be connected to network.
So i was rooting my phone, changing its IMEI and it didnt work. I also was thinking that it is about the SIM card, that the operator is making the network for phone unavailable,
but SIM card works fine in other "registered" phones. I once have paid around 100 dollars to unlock my Alcatel, and i figured out that everything is being done through software,
you dont leave your phone, they dont touch it, you just pay and give the IMEI of the phone you want to register and prevent it from blocking. Now i am thinking that the best solution was
to change the IMEI on time, and get additional two months with new IMEI. But this is just my modest logic.
I am really wondering what is this about? What do you think about this?
And is it possible to for me to do it by my own without giving away 100 $?
Thanks
Semir
