Hi, I'm looking for a small keyring charger and found this for £8, anyone got one or found anything similar?
Need it small enough to carry on keys as an emergency charger.
yeah I've got one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150496124645#ht_1064wt_905 same thing but with mini and micro usb.

That one should work, as it's MicroUSB as the Desire...

Take it ur from uk. Got one in poundland, you put 2 aa batteries in n it charges for about 3 hours, you just plug ur usb cable in then connect ur phone. Guessing you can work out the price. Works well with duracell batteries, not with cheapos

Ah cool, how much was that one?
I'd heard horror stories about the ones which take two AAs draining more power than they put in, but I'll give it a try for a quid! Be too big to have on my keys so prob go for one of the other ones as well, but I guess you cant have enough chargers for the power-hungry Desire!
Yeh a bit big for keys but works well, and doesnt drain nor charge whilst gps is on and charges whilst idle

Guys I went through about 4 different battery type chargers which ran of AA's and all sorts. All were useless and generated more heat than delivered juice to my Desire.
On the plus note I eventually found http://www.amazon.co.uk/Proporta-30423-USB-Turbocharger-3400/dp/B002DYGQI6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1276088348&sr=8-1
This is good enough to give me two full charges before having to charge the charger. Its a real neat piece of kit and works very well.

ordered, thanks.
I have a Just mobile Gum pro - it's 4400 mAh capacity and can charge pretty much anything that you can charge over usb. You recharge the pack over mini usb (mains or PC)
http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=166301
I use it with my iPod touch, MiFi and my desire and it works great, outputs at 1000mA so the desire sees it as mains charging.
I haven't needed it much with the desire yet as I have mains chargers at home and and in the office but with my G1 I got 3 full charges of the phone before having to recharge the Gum pro. It's pretty compact too so not a problem to keep in my gadget bag.
Hope this helps
I got this one for a while now
http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=4662&t_mode=des
and works great. Charges several devices and it has 3400mAh capacity, which is ~2.5 times full recharging Desire.

How much longer would your battery last with something like this? 350mAh doesn't sound like much... Of course it's pretty small, which is something.

thats the one i have, its the size that matters to me personally, its diddy.
true, but the larger capacity charger is much larger in size ie the size of the phone anyway, doesnt look pocketable to me.
i also cant envisage a time when i would need the larger capacity, ie i have a car charger, the stock charger and the emergency charger.

After 3 or 4 recharging cycles I found out it charges my Desire fully only one and a half times, so I'm little bit disappointed. Is this normal? I thought it should recharge it at least 2 and a half times * 1400 mAh = 3500 mAh. The battery is 4000 mAh, so that shouldn't be a problem. Any suggestions besides returning it? 3rd party TF11 charger
I got a 3rd party charger, probably from ebay, that has been perfect. It does not remotely get hot, just barely warm, while the original was always hot.
The model is KZ328FK, USB connector, output 12v, 1500ma.
Sorry, I have no idea the seller or brand.
Looking at ebay today, there are a lot of the chargers available now and many come with a TF101 connector. This is a big plus.
I would forget the OEM original.
Seems I also have the same problem as you. Going to take in the TF-101 along with wall charger today to the Asus service centre.
Guys, my charger stopped working aswell, what kernel are you all using? I had flashed gueover 16b, i then flashed back to 16 and it worked again!!

Charger
The original chargers have some sort of thermal shutoff. Many have found putting the charger in the freezer for a short time resets it.
Chances are your charger reset itself while you were changing kernels, rather than the kernel being the cause of the charger working again.
I have used test 13,15 and 17b, all with no issues.

Hi All
I was given this MT4GS about three months ago by a friend. All of the sudden it stopped taking a charge. At first, if i held the charger the right way, it might get a little charge, but now I'm getting nothing. So, I'm alternating between a couple Anker batteries and one stock, hoping someone has had this repaired (and that it wont' cost me a ton of money). Did anyone else have this problem?
Thanks
that sounds more like a usb cable problem than charger port... have you tried other usb cables?

That's the one bad thing about micro usb. It's the standard port for all android phones now, but it's very small, and if you're not careful it can break easily
My MT4G Slide recently started to exhibit this problem. The original cable that came with the phone still works perfectly fine. Unfortunately all my other cables have stopped working. I'll order the cable in the thread and hopefully it will work fine.
Kinda annoying cause now my car and bedside chargers are useless.
Almost 99% of the time will be the cable. I had to replace mine 4 times in one year.

this guy shows how you can use a needle to 'clean out' the port, because sometimes lint gets wedged down in and prevents the cord from making good contact.
And after you've cleaned it out, I would get something like this to prevent it from happening again

Or clean all the lint out of your pockets!

So yea that cable works okay. Still not perfect though but better than nothing.
I think one of the pins is just bent down and I don't have pliers so small that I could pull them back up. Plus it's hard to see.
Has nothing to do with the cable. All with the port. The cables all work perfectly fine on other devices.
Who makes the best micro usb_charging charging cords out there? I've had two samsung cables and both are starting to wear near the connector part of her cord. One is fairly new as I had to replace the charger since it produced a high pitch and got extremely warm. I'm open to anything even if it's for another phone. You are fine using odin and getting all your necessary files transferred to root and stuff? No problems? Is it durable? I know its my fault for wear on my cords since im a teenager and carry them in a bag all the time so they get messed up. Same problem, the cable was starting to bulge at the soft rubber boot.

True, but then again you rely on the cord when using odin or putting files to flash if you dont hassle with taking out the sd card. Yeah so you entitle youself to maybe ruining your phone by doing things to it. Still would you risk it on cheap usb cords? So Potential to ruin your phone remains at hand of the usb cord, phone being a life purchase for some. It truly isnt a life crisis for me, i just wanted to see what was out there and what people were using.

Thanks for this link. Bought two of these just a few minutes ago. Lost my original charger, might really still be here somewhere as I can't remember the last time I saw it. I also got the 4 port usb wall charger 2.1A... I hope they work well. My husband has a usb wall charger for his Samsung dumbphone that I am using now, it has been 6 hours and my phone is still not fully charged (extended battery). Sucks to wait 4 days but if it will charge like the original one it is worth every penny.
:good:
For USB chargers that are capable of putting out >1 Amp of power when connected using a standard USB cable, the phone only allows itself to be charged at the slower USB charging rate of less than ½ Amp, that in many instances cannot keep up with the current demands of in-car navigation.
There are usb cables that are designed for charging only. (search amazon for Naztech-Micro-USB-Charging-Cable) It shorts the two data connections together (rendering them useless for data), so the phone only sees it as a power connection, and will accept the higher current of the charging source.
Surprised there isn't a post here for this already. Well not for the One X anyway.
Have trouble finding a car charger that will actually CHARGE the phone when I'm using GPS and listening to music.
When it's plugged into my car charger I look under power settings and sure enough it says "Charge (AC)" but my phone continues to lose charge.
I read in forums that you need a car charger with a certain amperage and voltage. The one I bought meets those minimums but it doesn't seem to be working for me.
Can anyone recommend a good car charger that will charge the One X "under load"? GPS + music, etc. Thanks.
It might be temp related. I noticed when the phone is mounted in a dash dock, it gets really hot from the sun. My gut is protection circuitry is kicking in preventing at least the rapid charge. The same setup, but at night, charges very quickly. Further, I moved the phone from the dash mount to free in the console and it charges there. YMMV.

I can vouch for this, it's good for the car. Also, if you want to cool your phone off you could position your dock near an air conditioner or use this:

Which will keep your phone nice and cool for next to no $
I am using a Moto charger bought for a few bucks from one of the online stors and it definitely charges, as I can see the % battery increase on the short drive from work to home. Not using GPS or anything like that during that time tough.
I would strongly advise staying away from the cheapo chargers on eBay. You can buy a brand name charger for just a bit more with a bit of searching. Not only do they charge better but their micro USB connectors are much better, some of the ones on eBay are actually too large and may damage your phone.
Careful with the Motorola chargers. Mine (http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Vehicle-Adapter-micro-USB-Charger/dp/B000S5Q9CA) fried my HTC One X for good: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2058486
