[DEV]3.70 Maintenance Update Source is released - EVO 4G Android Development

HTC have finally released the source code from the latest maintenance update 3.70.
http://developer.htc.com/

maybe we can get the new camera lens for 004 and some 004 hardware working with AOSP.

Do the source codes that were recently releases for hardware versions 0003/0004, our has this been unconfirmed? Thanks.

Curious if the kernel source was released as well, and whether it can be determined how HTC removed the 30FPS cap...if they came up with their own solution or if the lifted it from the devs here on XDA?

if you build it...
I'm just hoping some of the devs can use this to help in their ROM updates.

The source code for the kernels has been released as well... so I'm sure cyanogen will work with the camera drivers as soon as he can

and new USB drivers
and new USB drivers for PC
I've attached the zip from the site.

THANK YOU for this.
It's great to have my camera functioning again on my Evo. I'm running CM6.1 on my 004 and the camera is working properly.

Seem like a long wait..... currently running cm6.2.1, sure feels to run AOSP with working camera... thanks to HTC for releasing the codes and thanks to cyanogen for providing such a great AOSP rom build.

I cannot share them exactly... i got them from a Paid Application called Absolute System. It's a root tool I strongly recommend this app. But anyway i can share a link with you from a flashable .zip here on XDA.

I too use that font. If you are going to use the flashable zip on a gingerbread rom you have to downgrade to cwr 2.5.1.x with amend script support.
there is a pure 2.3 gingerbread that faux put out. its not CM or anything its a base ASOP thats been built straight from google code if you want to check it out. its in the rom development area.
Yeah, was going to recommend Faux's AOSP build in the dev section. I haven't used it, but it is probably as close to pure AOSP as you are going to get and still be functional. Check it out.
Don't forget about ultimate Droid, 3.2.0 new for mytouch that has Gingerb, and idk if its vanilla but I can install the rom with 2.5.1.2 recovery, if that means anything at all lol

Yeah, it's a great ROM also, but we aren't "supposed to speak of it” even though he now credits Cyanogen in the ROM

CM7 Kernel in the CM repository

The G2X kernel sources just hit the CM repository. I've built it, and with some munging, managed to get everything working except for the vibrator (including wireless! Finally!)
Good news.

What kind of problems will we run into by running a kernel less than 2.6.35? I'm assuming they are using the leaked LG Gingerbread rom V20f which is using a froyo kernel and once LG updates the kernel and releases the source with 2.6.35+, it'll be fairly easy to merge it into CM source right?

None... cm7 team will work with the froyo kernel and froyo user space drivers (since only froyo source and firmware are available right now). Several phones are in the same state such as desire HD,z,thunderbolt,mt4g etc. This is why cm7 team is so awesome, they can give you gingerbread with what's given. Now I kinda wish I have this phone

A) AOSP source code
B) Cyanogenmod source code (which is based on AOSP... but is *not* AOSP code)
Also curious about FM radio since the Hero doesn't have a radio tuner?

A) Correct
B) Err... I don't recall reading that in the op?
The original omgb ported to the hero was pure AOSP source with no cyanogen at all as far as I could see... His omfgb rom has cyanogen features but all this one includes is the Tmobile Theme Chooser (which most people seem to think is Cmod only...). If the hero ever got an official 2.3 OTA this rom would be it.
Edit: The simplest way to put it is that this rom is to Cyanogenmod 7 what Aospmod 2.2 was to Cyanogenmod 6.

I'm not sure who your talking about, but for sense rom ports the kernels are built to only be running on one rom. And most of the time, they just use the htc source for that, or the android kitchen. This is not a sense kernel. This is aosp, and was not built to run on a specific rom. If you can't test a aosp kernel it's really difficult to tell how well it will work. Just saying it's better if you own the device. Hope it get's working soon and I would try it if it works.

ICS port possible?

I know the news has been going about that official source has been released for ICS an course like a lot of other people are wondering what it can be ported over to. Now me i personally have no clue how to translate all the technobabble dealing with creating roms from source but I'm sure there people here that do understand it all what would it take to get ICS on our phones? Like i said i have no clue in reality what goes into rom creating with phone drivers an framework tweaking (i know our phone is "special") but just curious.
Nobody here can get gingerbread on it let alone ics. Don't hold your breathe for either one. Lol

well isn't the issue with GB that we DON"T have the source code for GB so you can't hand make a kernal for our device? While with ICS with the source out we could hand make the kernal and the roms so they work on out system if i'm understanding how to create a android rom an kernal correctly its easier to work from source then from SDKs or porting a rom from another.
The issue with porting GB is that we don't have a source designed for our phone. there's all sorts of GB sources released, but none that have been designed for our phone. That ICS source is the same source that CM is based on, it's AOSP (all open source project), but it still requires a newer kernel.
