I've tweaked the kernel from the CursorSense ROM; it is my favourite ROM. My intention is to make it faster and to increase battery life. The ROM only supports FAT partitions. Any feedback would be appreciated.

To install it, just run it as a regular update after you install the CursorSense ROM.

No need special radio or SPL? just update.zip will do? regardless of which HoFo we are from?

You have to just install this update over top the CursorSense ROM. All this update changes is the boot.img and wlan.ko...

Thanks for the effort hotweiss! I will try this and give feedback.
Installed it. I really don't know how you can tell if the difference is significant or not. All what I can say is that there is no delay at all on anything. I also adb the new Rosie from another user. So now I have CursorSense 1.2.2 with new rosie and this new update. Good job and thanks for sharing your work everybody.

what is the screen off max CPU frequency? Im pretty sure that A2DP will have problems if its not 480MHz.

Will this allow things apps like OverclockWidget to modify the CPU scaling? Someone mentioned that something in the Kernel was blocking it.
Is there a way to enable back the swap from cursor's kernel ?

The CPU frequency is still using PERFLOCK settings, so I really don't think and CPU throttling software will work.
Why do you need it anyway? Under normal use, PERFLOCK settings are the same as SetCPU...
I've just installed new CS 1.2.2 + your kernel + I removed some apps from the rom and... I don't know whether it's new CS or your kernel but everything seems little smoother (although it already was smooth before)
so thanks both to you and cursor for your astonishing work.
btw. I hope your kernel will also improve my battery life time a little bit 'coz now it's shorther than it used to be.
Tested the Kernel, and I find it difficult to say if there is any real improvment in speed.
Cursor has done a awesome job developing his CursorSense ROM, so I have reinstalled his ROM and Kernel.
Anybody know a way to get some benchmark to measure if there is any performance improvement?

Andrew Kovacs Google Honeycomb for smartphones has given a clear rejection. It will not come in that form for mobile phones, but the features would be transferred "over time" on the phones, Google's spokesman said on request of PC Mag.

Hi, i have not much experience in Romdevelopment, but you can get Network working by pushing the /system/lib/libhtc_ril.so from any Desire build (like CM7) and change the rild.libpath=/system/lib/libreference-ril.so in build.prop to rild.libpath=/system/lib/libhtc_ril.so

1:quadrant works got 1300 not bad
2: it is quite fast if you change the launcher to launcher pro
3: market dont work niether does xda
4 will try games soon but for next update try to get network workin and include launcher pro, nice work

It's not that it isn't made for smartphones, it's that it is an SDK port. I bet when AOSP HC roms start coming out (once it's released of course), there will be stable roms for many smartphones.

Honeycomb is a tablet-only OS. The next major release ("Ice Cream Sandwich") will merge many of the new features (Action Bar, multitasking with thumbnails, other stuff) in a smartphone-sized form into the smartphone version of Android. For now Honeycomb will be tablet-only, and I'm sure developers like the CM team wouldn't waste their time making it somehow to work on phones when a new and optimized release is just a few months away.
Hi all! i liked to introduce my own build.prop tweaks that i got from my FRIEND IN GTALK :i know a lot of you think that build.prop is just a file that will let you modify the ROM name in about phone but build.prop is actually a configuration file you write a line of code into build.prop and that line tells the android system what to do.
for example lets take

now this line tells the android OS how to render the UI,

debug.sf.hw=0
means that the OS uses CPU to render UI and if its

debug.sf.hw=1
it means that OS uses GPU to render the UI. (notice that we dont have this line in build.prop because our phone CPU and GPU sucks )
ok so now that you all know what build.prop can do lets get to the actual tweaks
**NOTE! If you dont have these lines on build.prop just add them to the last line in build.prop, BUT if you have these then you can just change the values
1.) save power while phone is in sleep mode

2.) make the phone ring faster when dialing out

3.) make UI and scrolling more responsive (notice that this line should already be in build.prop but with different value)

your right, but only 1 tweak is from there you do realize that internet is FULL of sites telling these tweaks (and i have looked 3 diff websites ) and as said almost ALL OF THESE TWEAKS i got from my friend (i have no idea where he got these ), so dont come here to tell what the source is!

yes, but theres so many tweaks... i think its better to apply them manually, its not hard just open root explorer and go to /system, press R/W button and then find build.prop, long press it and choose "open in text editor"

Agreed.. i dont have anything against him but what bothers me is people using someone else's work under their name.. that's injustice flto the original dev.. it doesn't take much to give credits, does it?

Though just a recommendation: Change the packaged kernel to the non-fso version; I say that so its compatible with most phones. Fso breaks the system for some people; give people that want it the option to flash it.

No problem. Its just how it handles the system and doesn't always play nice. Just like a person that flashes an a2sd enabled rom and someone who isn't partitioned can't boot the rom; little things like that. Hope the rom is received well.

Its all good, and never a problem.
ONE more thing, I double checked and saw the rom is undervolted -75mv; -75mv is 'technically' aggressive, and too much. Personally I use -100mv, but not all can. The safest bet would be to use -25/-50 as most phones can handle that. You may want to bold that in the OP to avoid little things.

It should only matter if you're partitioned and use a2sd; I believe just how it handles the files/apps. I'd make a backup prior to flashing if you did.

it has to be on ext4 at least i think. i say this because it has 2 tweaks in a init.d file (remove jouralism and perfect mount) it said that its EXT4 tweaks. So maybe they wont hurt it if your phone isnt on EXT4 but maybe it will...you can try and let me know but do that at your own risk

Standards touch calibration values are derived from empirical measurements to fit standars; Calibration values for pyramid are derived from personal work on physical measurements with a raw width field of 1 unit corresponding physically to 17mm of linear size on the touchscreen.
To grant a more userfriendly touch experiance i changed the normal pressure scale values. The purpose is to generate a valid touch signal also on a light touch. The result is the perception of a lighter and soft touch in the general phone use.

Maybe it would be good to write in the OP, that ppl that already flashed a current version of bricked kernel have to put mpdecision and thermald back in place, else they would not have any core and thermal management (the compatibility.sh adresses only renamed binaries ...).
Additionally i noticed that in your "init.qcom.mdm_links.sh" there is a line: "mount -t ext4 -o remount,ro,barrier=0 /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 /system". In this situation it won´t get applied but the system partition on pyramid is mmcblk0p22 (not 12), only as information.
I would like to know which changes are meant by "boot setup" and which exact version of EGL libs are included here.
But the reason i actually looked at the package is because of the touch screen configuration, in which file exactly the values are included? I really would like to change them by myself!
In my understanding it doesn't do sweep to wake?

1) the pack automatically restore the mpdecision and thermald daemons
2) the qcom mdm don't refers to system partition!
3) for the EGL version, it's different in the files, you can use opengl extension app in the market to check the version of the lib that u are talking
4) all the touch and iput settings files are in the usr directory

ah ok that was my fault, i thought the bricked installer script would delete them totally instead of renaming them, they are missing completely only on aosp roms ...

yeah but somehow irritating that it gets mounted to a directory named system ...

btw, i bet in the next 2 pages there will appear ppl ranting about the unavailability of the information where to find kernel source (the gpl thing), only a hint after watching how it goes at xda hehe

So little information. As I can understand from the first line - there is a whole kernel in this package? Where I can find information on this kernel? What is the battery consumption after this package installation?

The kernel is RCMix v5.5, for more information you can refer to my thread on xda or the klquicksall's thread on acsyndicate
+1 sounds good and all...really thanks OP for your contribution....but I do not want to go thru renaming mpdecision and thermald as I have NO clue how to do so...MOD sounds AWESOME..I however lack the knowledge to use it limits me

Would flashing the newest Faux kernel after installing this defeat the porpuse of this mod ?
