[Kernel] [32A] HoFo Cursor 1.0 Update [01-27-10] - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

I've tweaked the kernel from the CursorSense ROM; it is my favourite ROM. My intention is to make it faster and to increase battery life. The ROM only supports FAT partitions. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Version 1.0: http://www.4shared.com/file/208581550/6a414d48/HoFo-Cursor-10.html
To install it, just run it as a regular update after you install the CursorSense ROM.

No need special radio or SPL? just update.zip will do? regardless of which HoFo we are from?

would you please post out changelog of your update?

Thanks for the effort hotweiss! I will try this and give feedback.

Installed it. I really don't know how you can tell if the difference is significant or not. All what I can say is that there is no delay at all on anything. I also adb the new Rosie from another user. So now I have CursorSense 1.2.2 with new rosie and this new update. Good job and thanks for sharing your work everybody.

Hi,
what is the screen off max CPU frequency? Im pretty sure that A2DP will have problems if its not 480MHz.

Will this allow things apps like OverclockWidget to modify the CPU scaling? Someone mentioned that something in the Kernel was blocking it.

Is there a way to enable back the swap from cursor's kernel ?

The CPU frequency is still using PERFLOCK settings, so I really don't think and CPU throttling software will work.
Why do you need it anyway? Under normal use, PERFLOCK settings are the same as SetCPU...

I've just installed new CS 1.2.2 + your kernel + I removed some apps from the rom and... I don't know whether it's new CS or your kernel but everything seems little smoother (although it already was smooth before)
so thanks both to you and cursor for your astonishing work.
btw. I hope your kernel will also improve my battery life time a little bit 'coz now it's shorther than it used to be.

Tested the Kernel, and I find it difficult to say if there is any real improvment in speed.
Cursor has done a awesome job developing his CursorSense ROM, so I have reinstalled his ROM and Kernel.
Anybody know a way to get some benchmark to measure if there is any performance improvement?

Hello everyone...
Some friends asked me to share my personal ROM with everyone.
It's a superfast Donut which is almost completely dwang's with the exception of:
Cyanogen's kernel recompiled into "dwang's" v1.1.4-v1.1.5
Here it is: http:http://alldroid.org/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=742
If you would like to know what it entails; look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567023
This also supports Wired Tether
Here it is: http://bit.ly/5WXGV8
I, in no way, take credit for any of this.
I take no responsibility if something goes wrong or just plain doesn't work.

This ROM is completely 1.6 stock (framework, apps, etc) with the exception of the following enhancements:
1. Compcache enabled by default (no backing swap, just straight compcache)
2. Memory hack which gives you 107.5 megs of linux system memory
3. ROM works with both mt3g (32b) and g1 (dream).
4. Root enabled
5. Market should be fully working
6. Busybox
7. Loccy's enhanced Browser v1.5 with MT
8. Netfilter and iptables modules added to the kernel. Wifi tethering works with both "aNetShare" and "android-wifi-tether" apps.
9. Launcher with 5 screens
10. Apps2SD for G1/Dream users ext2/ext3 fs only [may need to format /system/sd (/dev/block/mmcblk0p2) partition if getting black screen]
11. Work Email App (Exchange Support)
12. Userinit.sh support in /sdcard directory
13. All built-in apps optimized with zipalign and optipng
Caveats:
* Because of the RAM Hack, 3d games will run slow!
* Does not support ext4 partition

Ridiculously fast is probably the best way to phrase it. Left Cyanogen's in the dust, and though I hate to say it... it's faster than xROM. Though xROM's theme was gorgeous...
I will confirm.. This ROM is blazing!
OMFG
All i can say is this sh1t is crazy wicked fast.. beautiful job you got here. Now how about some themes like Hero or Eclair ? I give you mad props. Keep it up.
can you guys compare this to dwang's 1.1.4? and if i want to upgrade from that, can i just flash this over it? or is a wipe required? thank you . either way, good work on this, and thank you for those that reply/help.

Clay never really puts a changelog because hes mainly based off of twitter, he does these for himself really if i had to guess because he doesnt publicize them that much. Its basically CM5 with a whole new look, a diff launcher, swap script, gapps included with the requirement of an EXT partition.

Surprised it's taken this long to appear on here.
I've been using this for a day or so now. Very nice, quick and none of the issues (for me at least) that are being reported in the CM5 test2 thread.
Many thanks to HTCClay.
Am using this theme on test2 by pushing framework and the beta Launcher
nice rom, quicker than cyanogen
how can i go back to the stock launcher though?
To get the Superbad theme on CM5, I pushed framework-res.apk. I also pushed services.jar but that might not have been necessary.
They go in /system/framework
Same idea for the themed ADW Launcher

Kernel oc 1.3 and 1.2 for roms 21D Gingerbread

Sorry for my English.
This is a kernel.
KERNEL BASED TO Korea .
I do not include the shift from the terminal using the command unless opperator rom includes it as standard. With this kernel works perfectly Bluetooth and wifi for ROM 21D.
Uploaded on OC to 1.3 and 1.2
GPU 400
Improvements and teaks several.
From time to test a first version, gradually add more options. Governors and modifications.
I can only thank SAMNO BEDWA And for explaining how to activate the baseband. What You Have 3 months with that. They are very large.

It seems that so often goes wrong at your end .. if you have the module opperator in your rom, you can do this to slow down.
Enter the terminal (in the market there are many)

# Echo 1200000000> / proc / opperator
As long as you hold this value alone does not restart your phone .. tomorrow I'll upload another kernel with less speed.

Have a question, i use script manager with a script as root in systems folder and use the above command but doesnt change the clock. I want to try 1350 or higher.
hello
could you test M3D Benchmark v1.15 PowerVR (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370745&page=16) i want to understand how much GPU OC will affect on performance.
excuse me if my post doesn't relate here.
please feedback in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370745&page=23
thank you
Amazing kernel. Works perfectly with the acura 21d rom.
Would it be possible to run a script to disable the key backlights on boot? They're pointless since most people have already memorised the layouts of the keys, they're annoyingly bright at night and also only appear when pressed. (No point knowing you pressed the wrong key after pressing it)
This can be done through running the script
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/keyboard-backlight/brightness
chmod 444 /sys/class/leds/keyboard-backlight/brightness

it basically sets the brightness file to a value of 0

>With v3.2 the boot animation goes SUPER fast lol it will sit at a blank screen for a little bit.
>If anything is wrong with cyanogen..its prolly wrong here...unless i fixed it by some random chance
-STUFF-
>On v4 i deleted a lot of apps. if you must have them i have a zip file containing them below.
>You MUST be on EXT4 to run v3.1 and up
>I DO NOT in ANY way recommend using task killers especially with the tweaks i've done
>(this for any version 3 of this rom!!!)Please, please PLEASE! If you are going to change kernel make sure it has a SavagedZen governor (yes there are more than just a savagedzen kernel). I have a tweak that is set to auto change governor and i/o scheduler...i used SavagedZen as governor...change as you'd like but im just throwing that out there. I am not sure what'll happen otherwise!

Looks interesting; I'll give it a shot next time I'm on gingerbread.
Though just a recommendation: Change the packaged kernel to the non-fso version; I say that so its compatible with most phones. Fso breaks the system for some people; give people that want it the option to flash it.

No problem. Its just how it handles the system and doesn't always play nice. Just like a person that flashes an a2sd enabled rom and someone who isn't partitioned can't boot the rom; little things like that. Hope the rom is received well.

Its all good, and never a problem.
ONE more thing, I double checked and saw the rom is undervolted -75mv; -75mv is 'technically' aggressive, and too much. Personally I use -100mv, but not all can. The safest bet would be to use -25/-50 as most phones can handle that. You may want to bold that in the OP to avoid little things.

It should only matter if you're partitioned and use a2sd; I believe just how it handles the files/apps. I'd make a backup prior to flashing if you did.
Looking good dvickers, I'm glad you got a lot of that stuff going!! Hit me up on gtalk when you get a chance....got a question to ask
You forgot to change the build number in your .prop file to funtimesv4 man.
What base did you use?

it has to be on ext4 at least i think. i say this because it has 2 tweaks in a init.d file (remove jouralism and perfect mount) it said that its EXT4 tweaks. So maybe they wont hurt it if your phone isnt on EXT4 but maybe it will...you can try and let me know but do that at your own risk
