I am getting an error message when I am trying to install apps from Market. I am getting the error message, " Sorry, there's not enough space to install this item". But I have over 13 gbs of space left. Can someone please help?
I have the same problem

Hi,
Are you saying that you're having this problem on a Droid Incredible phone?
If so, I think that the comments here about re-partitioning are with respect to the Viewsonic G Tablet, but not sure how or if they apply to a Droid Incredible phone.
If it's not about a Droid Incredible phone, then what's involved is installing CWM 0.8 on the Gtab, then booting with power and Vol+ button pressed, which will boot you into CWM. Then, using CWM, select Advanced, then partition, then set the partition sizes to 2048 and 0 (for /system and swap, I think). Doing this will wipe out EVERYTHING. So, then, reboot, and use CWM to install your rom/firmware.
Jim
Hello, yes, a droid incredible. I found your forum by searching for this error message. I wonder what the problem is and what the fix is for my phone, such annoying problem...

Hi,
Ok, thanks for the clarification.
For the Gtabs, when they get into this situation ('no more space', even though there's plenty of space), the "theory" is that something gets mucked up with the partitions, and so the suggestion is to use CWM to re-partition.
The reason that I say "the theory" is that I don't know if anyone has actually diagnosed exactly what is wrong (I say "I don't know", but actually, I haven't spent much time searching for an answer myself).
For your Droid Incredible, you may have the same problem (something mucked up with the partitions), but I don't know if there's a CWM or equivalent tool that works on Droid Incredible.
Sorry.
Jim
P.S. If you have root and a terminal app, maybe try starting the term app, su, then try to do a "df" and see what it says. That should tell you the amount of space on different mount points. I've never (thank goodness) run into this problem, but I've always been curious if a "df" would show 0% on something.

Hello everyone. I am branching over to XDA from Androidforums in need of more guidance.
First, let me say I HAVE searched for instruction to my post, I HAVE NOT been successful with any of my reading. I just closed three separate windows of firefox with a total of near 75 tabs, all related to apps2sd, but none giving the specific instruction I need.
If in reading this you can think of another thread that has my answer, PLEASE post it for me. -much appreciated
If not, please read and help if possible. (I am listing my set up in case it is user specific)
CDMA Hero
Rooted
RA-Heroc v1.2.3 Recovery
Fresh 1.0 Rom
My goal is to initialize and complete the process of setting up apps2sd system today.
I would like to sucessfully have this running and I cannot find any specific guide on "how to". I have however found MANY that speak about it after the fact.
So, please someone tell me what I need to do to set this up. I want apps off device and to have a "swap space (???)" set up.
Can I do this now (after having flashed custom rom) or do I need to start all over, beginning with apps2sd process first and then flashing Rom.
Detailed instructions much appreciated, or a link to appropriate thread.
THANKS!! Rep points for you!!
You just need to partition your SD card as ext2+FAT+swap and reboot. That's all.
This will erase your SD card, so be sure you copy everything off first.
Please edit the title of this thread and take out the [ROM] prefix. This is not a ROM and the title is misleading.
Thanks.
EDIT: Does FreshROM 1.0 have apps2sd? I thought it only supported it if you had it on there previously.
EDIT: Never mind, I just saw this in the FreshROM apps2sd rant post - "Now with all of THAT said -- this rom officially has and supports Apps2SD. "

Are you serious, it's that simple?!!! argggh.
Okay, but with a bit more detail... I am rebooting into recovery mode and then doing this? Can you explain with just a tad more detail? thanks!
Haha there is no more detail. Just format your SD card with that option. WAM BAM DONE
I swear I'm not a cop! I just made the same mistake once.
I tried looking for apps2sd info a while back and ran into your same dilemma. I ended up using Modaco's ROM (actually, I used the UNOFFICIAL updated modaco made by obelisk79) because it already had it on there.

Right in the recovery options there's one that says something like "Format SD card: Ext2+FAT+swap" or something like that. Choose that, then reboot.
I thought Fresh 1.0 had AppsToSD built-in. If it doesn't, this won't actually accomplish anything.

Yeah I found somewhere that it would obviously erase the card data. I am really trying to figure out if the apps2sd is the same as "swap" since I keep finding bad things about swapping.

No, it's not the same as using swap. It works fine, don't worry about it.
AppsToSD works best with a Class 6 card, since the class 6 cards are faster.

Yes, I'm using it. I have read flipzmode's rant about why he doesn't like Apps2SD. I have had no problems with it.
When I ran it with the modaco/obelisk79 ROM it seemed to keep the phone relatively speedy, even with a ton of apps installed. I am using FreshROM 1.0 now and I ended up uninstalling a few apps because of lag.
EDIT: I am not inferring that FreshROM is any slower. I think the problem is on my end! BTW, I am using a 16G class 6 card.

Unfortunately I think mine is not a class 6, it's just an 8gig standard micro sd. (PNY brand).
Anyway, so i went in recov. mode and formatted to the ext/fat/swap partition. I reloaded my card with previous data. Is that all I need to do? is there no setting I need to monitor or adjust?
and also, will my current apps get pushed to the sd or is there a process I should follow to move them to the sd?
I just did this and it pushed my apps from what I can tell. My internal storage number went from around 90mb used to 52mb. Now my real question is if I wanted to undo this.. what kind of options/headache am I looking at ?

Current apps should get pushed to the SD. To make sure it's working, pull up an adb shell and do:
cd /data/app
pwd
You should see "/system/sd/app" spit back at you.

Well yeah you would certainly have to reformat. But in addition to that you would need to re-install your apps, since they would have been removed from the card.
I was reading somewhere that you can change a setting to zero which causes the hero to pull the apps back to internal storage, leaving you not needing to re-install. cAn't remember where setting is or where i found it...

Fat fingers the touch recovery......I just killed the internal SD,
Can I just reinstall ROM ? or do I need to do something else, first...
I tried to reinstall rom from external but stuck on boot animation, but not boot looping.
Thanks
Ignore!
Its almost like it cant find the internal card.
I tried to instal from internal SD...just to see if I can see any directories
and say no files found, and kicks me out.
When I do mount USB storage, only my EXT shows up, no internal no longer pops up.....am I screwed ?
How can I confirm my internal SD card is mounted/unmounted properly.
Thanks for any help
Can you get into recovery or download mode?
If you can get into download mode I would probably just reflash stock firmware and start over.
I tried that, I did ODIN to stock, it loaded the bootloader, but was stuck on boot loops again.
As far as I can tell, phone isnt seeing the internal SD card. Or I am missing the steps to make the phone see it via clock work.
I can access CWM, and DL mode.... in CWM, I can do mount USB, only my EXT shows up.
I format the internal sd(emmc) before every rom flash. Just install rom from external sd card. There is nothing left on the emmc, you wiped it
I think I m hosed....
I think something went wrong with format.
I tried to reinstall ROM, and during install
error: cant mount csdard.adnoird.secure etc...
what version of cwm?
It touch clock work mod recovery. v.5.8.1.3
Error message is
Formatting /sdcard/.andoird_secure...
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Question, are able to mount and see internal SD, after the format emmc via usb storage on PC ? Right now only the EXT shows up for me if I USB mount

I don't use that recovery. I use 5.8. I don't use internal to do anything, I always use external to flash from and store my important stuff. After a while of flashing things the emmc gets jammed up with nonsense.
Just use 5.8 touch, the have to mount and put hidden process folders in that version you have sucks.
Any chance you can link me to the recovery you use, I want to make sure I have the same one.

Good to see a potential train wreck that I'm not part of, get fixed so quickly & expertly!!
Just curious, what's the difference between the two versions of CWM Touch, I'm wondering because I am also using 5.1.8.3? Is it the recovery image, or is this Touch the one developed on xda?

The 5.8 is actually a hercules version for the tmo variant. The sk8er 5.5 or whatever it is, is a version adapted specifically for the rocket, and supposedly it performs the wipe and fix functions correctly. As long as you set it up right and put the hiddenprocess folder and mount sd every time you use it. Last I knew it still won't see both sd cards at the same time. I just don't like dicking around with all that stuff.
Sk8er could probably give you a better explanation of them, I think it even mentions it throughout his thread. I have no problems with the 5.8 version and I couldn't recommend the OP on how to navigate the version he had because I don't use it. So I just moved him to the version I use. Lol

Whenever I try, I get "not enough space" error message - even the 2 apps(only had the tab 3 days)! that were on the sd before I rooted, have mysteriously moved to phone memory. I cant even install FolderMount , which I had already d/l. Forgive a newbie, but having rooted my Galaxy W phone 18 months ago with very few problems, was hoping tab would be as reliable. Anyone help? (as I dont want to unroot just to be able to use internal sd memory.) Thanks in anticipation.

I'm confused, how did you get apps to run on your external SD without root? Didn't know that was possible. Did you try clearing the dalvic cache? Seemed to do the trick when i had issues with lucky patcher causing that same error. I may be way off base though.
Edit: i think I'm confused, sorry, that advice is surely off. Uhm, perhaps reflashing stock and trying again, seeing as how you do not have much data to loose, using the auto root Odin flashable file.

Although "Install manager" shows all apps as being installed on "phone" memory, & "external" memory empty, both "Disk Usage" & "Root Explorer" show the same files/size used, in both locations, so I now figure I may have partition problems after rooting (I used this system : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1596) Will try the auto method as per your link if I cant solve the issue (though hoping a quick fix might be possible.!) Still "not enough space" issues.
Ok. I tried wiping data, flashing back to stock rom, then chainfires auto - root method. All went well - device rooted (again!) fine, BUT I`m STILL having problems with storage. Some apps (especially games) wont install - am getting "not enough space" message, just as before. It seems that all apps that need to be intalled on the devices internal "sd" (such as" FileMount") card just wont.
Please forgive a couple of lame questions, but having never owned a tab before, I`m new to their "vagaries" - Also I have searched here & other online forums for an answer, so forgive my badgering all you "fonts of tekkie wisdom."
. Mine is the 8gb model, & I know a lot of this is taken up by system/ram etc - the "device memory" reports a total of 4.49gb, but TB (& other root apps like sd maid) states : Rom 1.26 gb, internal 4.92GB, sd card 4.82gb (with exactly the same space used in both , i.e. 1.50gb. I also have 32gb micro sd inserted. - Is there an internal partition for the "sdcard0" space , or it there a "physical" internal sd card ? If so how do I format thhis? If not could I have a partition problem? (The reason I ask is that none of the "move to sd" apps I have tried like app2sd, install manager etc work - They state, apps have moved when they clearly havent.
So I think it may be an internal partition problem, (which I presume hasnt been solved by reflashing stock, and re- rooting.) - I did notice that when I was re-rooting by CF auto root, in odin there was partition check box, but CF instructions said "if, & ONLY IF, device is bricked, to check this box. - So how can I , - 1. confirm whats causing the problem?, & 2. -Solve it?
Thanks for any help & advise hopefully, proffered, forthwith.:fingers-crossed:
do a simple thing! factory reset your tab. click format sd ! these issues are solved just by formatting the sd, be it internal! :good::good:

Its a partition, its an emulated SD card. I think the post above me has the right idea.
Also, none of those apps will work. You will need use a sdcard swap script, gl2sd(app), foldermount, or some root app or script that is similar to those.
I think you will need a custom recovery, (like cwm, or twrp) to format the internal "sdcard", i never really used the stock recovery much, but it seems like an option they would leave out. I think there is an oden flashable in developer section. I would find links for you, but i got to get the kids ready. Shouldn't be hard to find.
If you can not format the internal SD using stock recovery, here is a link to the Odin flash able cwm.
PS. I really do not think it is a partition prob., and i wouldn't click the repartition option.

For crying out loud... I gave you the answer. You didn't like it, but that's your problem. I also asked you (and anyone else) to provide any proof of more internal storage on the 8GB model. No response, as expected. If you somehow remember getting full 8GB on stock ROM, as opposed to what you are getting now, you were hallucinating.
Let me try again. There is TOTAL storage, which is 8GB. And there is USER-ACCESSIBLE storage, which is much less. Unless you go really hardcore, and start playing with non-standard partition sizes on your tablet, you will NOT get more than approx. 4.5GB available to you. It's a fact of life. Get over it. To better understand what I mean, open terminal console, and type "df" (without quotes). Check the total size of your internal sdcard partition (on stock, it's /storage/sdcard0, on CM it may be something else). This is the definitive answer to your question.
Me too dude, The box of the tablet, and on the back part says that is 8GB but is only 4,59GB. Why?
Because the storage divides in two the first part is for the system app, and system process. The other part is for your apps or other things.
This is not a problem it is normal on any device. Why do you need many storage?
Try to use FolderMount or Link2SD for your apps. FolderMount helped me a lot for the big games.

For crying out loud... I gave you the answer. You didn't like it, but that's your problem. I also asked you (and anyone else) to provide any proof of more internal storage on the 8GB model. No response, as expected. If you somehow remember getting full 8GB on stock ROM, as opposed to what you are getting now, you were hallucinating.

okay i am the type of cat who is able to admit when I am wrong... i am wrong!!! I am sorry about that because I could swear that when i had the stock rom in that it showed 8gb TOTAL memory but obviously less available memory. since I posted this thread I went back to stock just to prove myself wrong and again, you were right. it only shows 4.59gb which really is a surprise to me.
just so you know it's not that i didnt like your answer, its just that I really believed that i saw 8gb total. my bad dude.
now, if i am able to get a memory swap with cm10.2 working Ill be satisfied. any ideas?
thanks

Sorry, can't help you with this, because I am not a CM user, and, most importantly, I never used any storage swapping methods. One think I did try in the past was to use some app to mount specific folder(s) on external SD to present them as if it was an internal storage. Although it doesnt completely swap your int and ext storage, it works just fine in most cases (with some limitations). Basically, this is what Folder Mount is about (already suggested to you). I used DirectoryBind, which has long been abandoned, and doesn't work on newer Android versions. Many people are happy with Folder Mount, but you can also find other alternatives, like Super Mount from Lidroid (it's free, unlike Folder Mount). Look them up on Play Store, it might be a workable solution for you...
Hi there. I can't post to the developer's area because of the "10 post limit" or whatever, so I'm going to ask here. Hopefully someone comes across this and knows what I need to do.
Here's the low-down:
I just got myself a fabulous LG G Stylo. I love it, except for the stupid issue of very limited internal storage. There's a lot of bloatware taking up valuable space. I've got a 32 GB mini SD Card in it, but I can't automatically download stuff to it, and every time I try to download something new, I'm told there's not enough space on my phone. I want to root it so I can set the default hard drive to be my external and so I can remove a lot of the bloatware.
My problem is this:
I have a mid-2010 Macbook Pro (which I LOVE), and most of the software to root LG phones is Windows. I downloaded PurpleDrake's Mac software (after making sure my drivers were up to date), and it ran just fine, but I was given an error. The command window said "Your phone is not running a compatible software version. No vulnerable mode detected, rebooting phone. We tried to temproot you, and it didn't work. This phone isn't vulnerable," and then prompted me to post here on XDA.
So how do I get around this or fix it? Is there another way to make the changes I'm trying to make without rooting my phone?
ALSO: I did try to run PurpleDrake and LG One Click Root on a Windows computer, but the command prompt never got past "waiting for device..."
I appreciate any help you can provide!

what we use for storage space: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475274 just make the partition for Link2SD as ext4 and what you want for music and what not as fat32 (i have a 64GB class 10 and I partitioned 20GB as ext4 for apps and the rest as file transfer space called fat32)

Hi there,
Thanks for your quick response. However, both of those methods are for Windows, and I have a mid-2010 Macbook Pro. Additionally, I already tried them on a friend's Windows computer, and still was given the "no vulnerable mode detected" error. Any other ideas or suggestions? Or do I just have to live with this issue?
