Help I accidently formatted the internal SD - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Fat fingers the touch recovery......I just killed the internal SD,
Can I just reinstall ROM ? or do I need to do something else, first...
I tried to reinstall rom from external but stuck on boot animation, but not boot looping.
Thanks

Ignore!

Its almost like it cant find the internal card.
I tried to instal from internal SD...just to see if I can see any directories
and say no files found, and kicks me out.
When I do mount USB storage, only my EXT shows up, no internal no longer pops up.....am I screwed ?
How can I confirm my internal SD card is mounted/unmounted properly.
Thanks for any help

Can you get into recovery or download mode?
If you can get into download mode I would probably just reflash stock firmware and start over.

I tried that, I did ODIN to stock, it loaded the bootloader, but was stuck on boot loops again.
As far as I can tell, phone isnt seeing the internal SD card. Or I am missing the steps to make the phone see it via clock work.
I can access CWM, and DL mode.... in CWM, I can do mount USB, only my EXT shows up.

I format the internal sd(emmc) before every rom flash. Just install rom from external sd card. There is nothing left on the emmc, you wiped it

I think I m hosed....
I think something went wrong with format.
I tried to reinstall ROM, and during install
error: cant mount csdard.adnoird.secure etc...

what version of cwm?

It touch clock work mod recovery. v.5.8.1.3
Error message is
Formatting /sdcard/.andoird_secure...
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Question, are able to mount and see internal SD, after the format emmc via usb storage on PC ? Right now only the EXT shows up for me if I USB mount

I don't use that recovery. I use 5.8. I don't use internal to do anything, I always use external to flash from and store my important stuff. After a while of flashing things the emmc gets jammed up with nonsense.
Just use 5.8 touch, the have to mount and put hidden process folders in that version you have sucks.

Any chance you can link me to the recovery you use, I want to make sure I have the same one.
Thanks you again for the help. Its very appriciated

Theres a bit of messing around you have to do with that version you had. I don't use it, but there are instructions in his thread for getting it to work. I just don't like messing with all that dumb ****.

Awesome job xcrazydx, helping this guy out!!
Good to see a potential train wreck that I'm not part of, get fixed so quickly & expertly!!
Just curious, what's the difference between the two versions of CWM Touch, I'm wondering because I am also using 5.1.8.3? Is it the recovery image, or is this Touch the one developed on xda?

The 5.8 is actually a hercules version for the tmo variant. The sk8er 5.5 or whatever it is, is a version adapted specifically for the rocket, and supposedly it performs the wipe and fix functions correctly. As long as you set it up right and put the hiddenprocess folder and mount sd every time you use it. Last I knew it still won't see both sd cards at the same time. I just don't like dicking around with all that stuff.
Sk8er could probably give you a better explanation of them, I think it even mentions it throughout his thread. I have no problems with the 5.8 version and I couldn't recommend the OP on how to navigate the version he had because I don't use it. So I just moved him to the version I use. Lol

i used 5.8.1.3 and have never had any problems.... i even wipe emmc between flashes. should i not be using this one? how can i get the other?

Accidentally wiped my sdcard after wiping my entire system while installing Virtuous 1.29

I don't understand why you can't put a zip on your sd card.
Maybe I'm not completely understanding your predicament. Are you saying you don't have a functional phone due to something going wrong with the unity flash?
Was actually going to put my phone down and get on da puter to post links and help you out....ran outta time though, sorry man.
Try putting the rom on another sd card or taking the current one out of your phone and transferring the rom to the card via an sd card reader. That would be the easiest way. When wiping you can wipe cache, data/factory restore, dalvik cache in advanced, and you can also format system. Don't try doing anything else because you can end up in trouble like you are now. If you can transfer the files like I described it would be the easiest way for you.

From what I understood, he was going to install the virtuous rom, but he was wiping everything first before install. Unfortunately, he also wiped his sd card and now he only has recovery with no rom or backups to flash and no operating system to go back to.
you can mount your phone with recovery.. or you can use an adapter... or as said above another sd card..
Mudknot is correct. I have mounted through recovery before but it was a long time ago. Maybe he or someone else could walk you through it. It was not hard to do.

Issues in recovery

Ok guys... my cousin is having an issue with his rooted MT4G.
He can not install a ROM zip file at all. He can have it on the SDcard, the MD5 check is good, but the install errors out.
He has tried wiping all the different partitions, but when he does, he gets errors.
When formating cache or data, the format completes but the console outputs
"can't mount /cache/recovery/log"
Also that it can not open the same log/file and it outputs that it can't mount or open "last_log" either.
It also errors out and fails to format when trying to format the /system partition.
was going to have him RUU back to stock, but I can not find the stock recovery and the RUU thread download links to Megaupload so that is no good.
Any ideas?
find the PD15IMG.zip file, flash it.
IF BOOTLOADER GIVES YOU A FAIL-PU, THEN SORRY... IT'S DEAD EMMC.
check my guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394238
Thanks... I was suspecting that the partitions had gotten messed up somehow and the internal memory needed re-partitioned or something along those lines.
If the eMMC is bad, that really sucks. He just got the phone recently used, and it was running great until recent.

[Q] Possible for ROM to be applied "half way"?

I'm new to flashing ROMs on the EEE Pad, but not new to flashing ROMs in general...have a Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket that I have flashed probably 50 times alrerady. That being said...I'm confused. I rooted my tab and flashed a ROM. It looks like the flash worked because checking the version in "about" shows the new rom. The strange thing is that all the apps I had installed prior to flashing are still installed. I followed the normal steps...factory wipe, format cache, data, system. Does this make sense to anyone? It feels as if some of the rom flashed and some didn't. Any help would be appreciated.
PS...I would have posted this unter the ROM's thread but since I am new to the forum I can't until I have 10 posts.
Examples of this are pandora (including my login info)...email accounts, facebook accounts, etc
are you positive you wiped your data? if you did, everything should be gone.
Well...I ran a super wipe script that was part of the rom download now that you mention it. I'll give it another go but wipe by hand and see what happens.

aha! I bet that is it, I have heard people saying not to use the super wipe scripts. I don't know much about it but I'm nearly positive that's the problem.
it may also depend on if you are using the full wipe which does internal memory or the light which i believe leaves your apps untouched

You cant use superwipe if you got a recovery that only reads from internal memory (/mnt/sdcard/), as superwipe will also wipe your rom file, leaving you with nothing to flash.

As far as I know, yes thats the only reason.
The version Im using only allows internal (/mnt/sdcard/) and external (/removable/microsd), there might be some version that allows USB as well, but I doubt it tbh.
Thanks for the responses...I figured I would skip the superwipe and just do it all by hand. All good, but ran into a new problem. Apparently I don't have the option for mounting an external SD card. It's installed and when booted into the OS I can see it and everything, but the mount option is missing from clockwork recovery. This is both with the touch version (5.8.1.8) and the non-touch version (5.5.0.4). Luckily the manual wiping didn't clear out the internal SD card so I was able to just restore my nandroid backup.
A - anyone have issues with the "mount sd-card" missing in CWR?
B - Apparently the tablet version of ICS installs apps to the internal SD card so doing a wipe doesn't really clear out all the apps. Does that sound right?
Both those CWM versions does not support external SD card afaik. Only internal.
That would be why then I guess. Doh! I'll check around but I didn't see newer versions that worked with the tf 101. Thanks for the reply!

I use cwm 5.0.2.7 [via RecoveryInstaller.apk], and I have had no problems, I can mount my MicroSD

[Q] I screwed up (Solved)

I was trying to update a friends transformer to ICS (revolver) and I forgot that you have to put the zip on the internal storage (at least that's the only way I know how to do it) I'm using roach CWM based 5.5.0.4, I was playing around in there and, this is where I really screwed up, wiped /system. I have adb access and I'm in recovery but there's no rom installed on the tab because of me wiping /system. The rom is on the sd card (not the internal storage labeled as sdcard, an actual sd card). I tried pushing it from adb but I was probably doing it wrong. I was looking for a way to mount the internal storage but I didn't see any. I've tried several options but none have worked so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
so why don't you just install the rom from the microSD?
You have a 5.xxx recovery, and that allows you to install zips from microSD. Just pop that into a PC and copy the rom file on it. Select install from microsd and there you go...
PS: wiping /system doesn't format the internal storage...

I have the rom on the external sd card. I tried the flash from sd and it was looking at the internal "virtual" sd card. I didn't see an option to switch to the external sd and I think there are some recoverys that use the external sd as default but I haven't been able to find one. If I did find one it would have to be an image so I could flash it through bootloader.
I was looking for a .img file to flash through bootloader but couldn't find one of those. I tried adb push to get the .zip onto the internal storage but, and I'm sure I was doing something wrong, that didn't work.

I think the guy said MicroSD up there, the one you inserted on the side. But the onboard CWM only detect the internal virtual SDcard.
Now he screwed because of the full wipe prior flashing while the intended Rom was placed in the MicroSD..
Yea, if the transformer comes with B70 or below, then you can use Flash to do the magic.

no, no dock. I'm using the external micro sd.
So I finally got it to push, I renamed the file ics.zip because I didn't feel like typing out the whole file name and because I used .zip at the end the file was actually ics.zip.zip, that's why it couldn't find it.
cmd says:
C:\Transformer>adb push ics.zip /sdcard
1333 KB/s <268182367 bytes in 196.431s>
It pushed but now I just tried "choose zip from sdcard" and I got "couldn't open directory. No files found"
Edit: For some reason nothing was showing up at all on the internal storage so I rebooted back into recovery and all the files that were there before returned. I didn't see my ics.zip in there though which was odd but in searching through the folders i found an older version of a rom I flashed on there when I first rooted it. It's on the welcome screen right now.
Thanks for your input, you were most helpful.

Hm interesting... Why wouldnt you be able to push to /sdcard/ (notice the extra slash)?
Is that folder not mounted correctly while in recovery? Ive never tried ADB in recovery, only in android and push to /sdcard/ works just fine.
pushing anything to /sdcard does not work though (notice the lack of the extra slash). Might be my rom but doubt it since its the same on my phone and other tablet...
Like you said, /sdcard is wrong.
The correct paths are /sdcard/, /data/media, and /data/media/.
Most ADB guides posted on this forum use /data/media(/) though.

So much fail in this thread.
1. Because his version of CWM doesn't support microSD
2. Since when does 5.xxx recovery support installing from MicroSD?
3. wiping /system doesn't format internal storage but it wipes out the OS so there is no OS to boot into.
The correct path for pushing files to internal storage on TF101 is /data/media

There are a lot of people like him in all the forums, it's best just to walk away. I'm not new but I wasn't thinking clearly due to lack of sleep. Also the tf101 wasn't mine, I forgot how Asus had the storage set up, and I was thinking it would have the same path whether you were booted or through ADB. I knew I screwed up, that's why I said it right in the title. Oh well, it's fixed now. The problem is that a lot of people turn developers and newbies away by acting like that.

How do you flash a phone without SD card?

I have been using Samsung Android all my life, if I buy the OnePlus One phone, how will I flash the phone with new ROM since I can't just simply put the .zip file onto external SD card and flash through recovery.
Use adb to push to the internal sd or sideload it from recovery.

im pretty sure no rom would make you wipe your internal storage. theres no reason to ever do that.
Most recovery like twrp, cwm etc doesn't wipe your internal memory when you say factory reset. Before flashing new rom most developers prefer you factory reset which wipes your system, data partitions but nothing happens to your internal memory. So you are good.

Your Galaxy Note 2 can flash ROMs like this in the same way. Even if you use Factory Reset/Wipe Data in your recovery, it still wouldn't wipe your Note 2's internal storage. It will wipe /data (but you'll notice it'll say 'wiping /data without wiping /data/media'.
It's been this way for a long, long time.

Nope. Any package that tells you to wipe /sdcard is from someone who has no clue what they're doing.
On devices with unified storage, it is slightly more complex - in rare cases the filesystem can get corrupted in such a way that requires complete format. This will clobber /sdcard on devices with unified storage (/sdcard is /data/media remapped) - but a normal wipe data/factory reset in recovery on a unified device will remove everything *except* /data/media on /data
Again, it's *very rare* that you need to fully format /data on a device with unified storage - I've only had to do it twice in my life, both times on a Moto G because f2fs sucks rancid donkey balls for data integrity.

The only reviews I've found are from Android Authority and Engadget, both with the 16gb white model, and neither say a microSD card slot is there. Engadget says there isn't one, and AA pulls the cover off to show the internals - and if there was a slot, surely they would have noticed, right?
OTOH, these seem to be "pre-production" units, with software that still needs some bug fixes. So who knows what's really in store?

Sorry guys, but there's no SD slot. Mounting data through something like a Meenova works though.
Also, it's worth noting that when you switch to a newer device, you can't mount storage to USB from recovery like you were once able to.
If you don't want to use sideload or adb push, you'll want to put the ROM on your storage using a working ROM first, so that's why you should always have a working ROM zip on your storage at any given time, because if you start bootlooping when you're away from a computer, you're stuck until you can get back to one.
