Is there a program that.... - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

Here is what I'm needing/wanting to do. I have a wildlife cam that takes pictures and stores them on a sd card. This unit has a usb connection to download to a laptop. I'm wanting to connect a cell phone to this unit. As the cam takes pics, it stores them to it's sd card. I wanting to connect my cell phone to the cam with the usb cord. It would be nice to be able to ask the cell phone the transmit or sync somehow with a "cloud" type storage.
My issues that I can think of is if I have a usb cord plugged into my wildlife cam, if it will be able to write to the sd card while the cell phone is plugged in. If I'm lucky and it will, how can I get my cellphone to grab these pics and upload to the web. I'm thinking I might have to sync the wildlife cam sd card with a folder on my cellphone, and then somehow synce this with the net.
Does anyone have any better ideas or know if this is possible? Thanks in advance
Kevin

[Q] SD Card

Need some help with this. I have a trail camera for watching deer in the woods. It has a SD card adapter with transflash card in it to record the photos on. I have an android phone with transflash card. But if I swap them out I lose my custom ringtones I have set up for everyone. Is there some way I can get those photos onto my cell phone without having to bring the trail camera home and download the photos?

Only Way I Can Think Of Is To Connect To Your Computer For Transfer, Either That Or Email Them To Yourself, Then Go To Email From Your Phone! Also I Would Recommend Making A SDCard Backup On A Computer, In Case Of Losing Files, Say (Ringtones)
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
What I was thinking was a male to male mini usb cable. But I guess the phone doesn't have the drivers to read from another usb device.

What if you just copy the custom ringtones to the internal memory of your phone with a file manager, swap the cards and then copy them back to the card?

[Q] Droid Charge Camera Problems

Hey all,
I'm having an annoying issue with my droid charge and I'm curious if it's just me or everyone.
When I take a picture with my charge it saves just fine, if I connect my droid charge to my laptop and (or mount and unmount the SD Card) and the media scanner runs all my photos get erased.
I've tried to look for the photos in the SD card but I only see them in the .thumbnails directory. Does anyone else have this problem or have a solution? My phone is stock but I did transfer my DCIM directory from my old phone over if that makes any difference.
Thanks
How are you connecting to your laptop? Via the OEM cable or a micro sd to sd card adapter?
I am connecting it to my computer via the OEM cable

[Q] Getting pics from phone to computer

Hi folks, please excuse my ignorance as I am not a regular user of my phone for anything other than calling home and asking my wife if I need to pic up anything from the store before I come home from work ect...
I have some pictures on my phone that I would like to put on my computer so I can print them out. I am using a Samsung Captivate. I am so unfamiliar with most of the terms used here I am not even sure what to look for under a search. Would someone mind helping me please? Thank you in advance and if you happen to have a problem with your air conditioner I can be of help with that in return.
Hi knownot,
you can connect your phone via USB cable to your Computer.
Fortunately, Android devices are considered (by computer) as external hard disks so you can easily browse folders and copy your pictures to your PC.
I apologise for my bad english

It views as an HDD? mine shows up as a camera
normally if you connect your phone to your computer there should be something in the statusbar of your phone like USB-connection. click on that and now you can choose to connect as hdd.
Once you have the phone connected as a drive, on my phone the pictures are in the dcim/camera folder. Find that and copy and paste to your computer.
Detected as camera probably fine too, it should offer an import option.
Alternatively there are apps like dropbox, that if you use them on your phone and on your computer, it will automaticly upload the pictures to your computer whenever your phone connects to your homes wifi.
Or just mail them to yourself, the access the mails from your computer.
You also might type into youtube "samsung captivate usb mount" and You will find a video tutorial.
Or you can use Samsung Kies. It's a program for Windows or Mac to sync your data.

First, use your USB cable to plug your phone into your computer. If you're not sure what the USB cable is, it's the black cord that came with your phone. It's probably plugged into your phone charger; unplug the cord from the charger and use that to plug the phone into the computer.
Then, on your phone, open the notifications menu at the top of the screen by swiping down. Click the button that says "USB connected" (or something similar) and choose the option that says "USB storage" (or something similar). Then your computer should say "Installing driver software" and then "Your device is ready to use."
An "Autoplay" window will probably pop up. You can choose "open folder to view files." Double click on the "DCIM" folder, double click on a folder inside there (it will probably be "Camera" or something), and you should see all of your pictures.
Google can be your friend, well for atleast the first 15 mins..
Often you have to select USB storage or something like that in order to enable your phone as a hd. that will mess with your apps when it is connected because it mounts the SD card etc on your PC, so it is usually not enabled by default.
Pull down the notifications bar, click on the USB connected link, select the appropriate action.
Enjoy.
Thanks for the tips folks. I am sure with your help I will finally figure this out. I had already tried sending my self an e-mail but I never got it. Tried connecting to computer with the cord and the notifications bar will not pull down. It just shows the connection thingy on the screen but I cant do anything with the phone while it is connected. Thanks again for your help. Its very much appreciated.
if it's not too many photos I usually just email them to myself and open it up on my computer
I did a google search and found this post showing step by step what to do as I don't have a captivate and each phone can differ.

Thanks for the input. Have tried your suggestions and have come to the conclusion there is something out of whack with the phone. Going by AT&T tomorrow to see about it. Thanks again!

an alternative method is;
be sure that your photos are stored in SD card.
remove your SD card and connect it to your laptop's SD card reader (you should have a micro SD - SD adaptor).
copy them to your laptop.
I hope it helps.

Phone storeage (SDcard) backup

On my previous devices, I occasionally pulled out the removeable SD card, and ran a backup of the card to my laptop hard disk. I ended up with a 32GB card which was filled with music, videos, and work documents. So, I got the 32GB S III to have plenty of room. So now, generally, I have my music, documents, etc., on the S III internal 32GB SDcard as it is called. I have my videos and a few other huge items on the external removeable extSDcard.
Now the problem is, there is no practical way for me to back up the internal storage. It won't fit on what is left of my external card. I have a issues with my laptop so USB does not work, or is unreliable when it does, and too slow anyway. I don't really want to use the cloud. I have tried FTP, and it works, but clunky.
I'm thinking about getting an external hard disk and using an OTG cable. That is about the closest I can come to what I want.
Does anyone have any good solutions? I guess I could get a 64GB card, but if I got a 64GB card, I would prefer stuffing more videos and such on it, not wasting it for backup.
I'm rooted, simply so I could freeze some bloatware.
There are a bunch of questions I'd need an answer to before I could even begin to help:
What about your computer is making the USB connection spotty? Are the USB ports damaged?
What ROM are you running on your device?
What OS are you running on your laptop?
Are you familiar at all with adb? Do you have it set up to work on your laptop?
IMPORTANT: Backing up 32GB of data from anything to anything will take a long time. USB OTG will still run at USB speeds, so probably not much faster than trying to backup over USB to your laptop. Your best option will probably be something like my adb_bak2computer tool. Shameless plug I know, but its true. Well, only if you are running linux or mac (for now at least).
In the advanced options menu you can select "userdata" which will backup /data including your internal sdcard. I could write a new option to only backup the internal sdcard, actually I think I will.
Still, need answers to those questions.

USB is out. Long story, but basically, the laptop has an internal hub to drive all of the USB ports. A lot of devices refuse to cooperate when they are on the other end of a USB hub. Nice laptop other then that annoyance.

Most machines have a "USB hub" that drives multiple USB ports, so that shouldn't be a problem. Even if you were using an external USB Hub, and it was a powered hub, you should still be fine. Could be something wonky with your OS?
Anyhoo, if you've ruled out USB to your laptop, then its either some sort of Wifi file explorer (or wireless adb), or USB OTG.
Hope that helps,
ALQI

I'm not going to waste another minute on USB to the laptop. The USB has not worked on this laptop for years. I hope to purchase a new laptop early next year, or maybe a Surface Pro. Also, even when USB is working, I can't MOUNT it as a drive letter, so normal backup programs don't see it. I have to manually cut and paste. But that is all another story.
I really want to be able to MOUNT the S III SDcard as a drive over WiFi. That would be perfect. Then I could run an automatic backup script.

I use an app called "FolderSync" that lets you sync whatever you want with a shared windows folder. I do this on a schedule to backup my internal and external SD cards over my home network. But it is kinda slow, so if you have 32gb then it could take all day if you are syncing for the first time.
I use FolderSync quite a bit because it also supports Dropbox and a bunch of other cloud services. It was well worth the money for the paid version, but there is a Lite version also. I don't know what the limitation are on that.

That sounds like the ticket. I'll try it for a while and report back.
EDIT: After a quick test, this looks to be nearly perfect. I can set it up to sync to my network drive (or about any other wireless storage) with ease. Thanks.

what is the issue with samsung phones and usb transfer?

i tried to transfer some images from phone and sd card to PC and it was a major nightmare like always with every samsung galaxy series i owned
is there some kind of retarded issue with these phones and why they never seem to get the usb transfers to work flawlessly?
it crashed my explorer windows about 10 times before very slowly i managed to transfer files in smaller chunks
it was calculating how much time it will take to transfer images. wtf i havent seen that since like windows 98.
i had to unplug my phone few times and close the explorer windows and start over because it was just freezing all the time
how do i fix this crap this shouldnt be happening in 2018 and with 800 dollar phone
MTP, baby.
Every modern android phone has an awful transfer experience. I'm now copying a 9GB backup and it's taking forever. I have to use the rear USB ports because without it I get a "Device is busy or disconnected" message.
As for a 'fix': use an official cable. Don't use front I/O if you have a desktop PC. piss about with different cables and ports until it works. Only transfer files in chunks.
Hi if possible try and transfer all or half your files to your sd card and then remove sd and insert it into the pc for better speeds. I've only ever transferred a few files from phone to pc, but I know that when I transfer multiple photos and or a rom or two at about 2 gigs a piece from internal to sd card it works fast. All i use is a sandisk 32gb extreme sd, not to special. I agree the mtp should not be slow in this day and age, i remember uploading a ton of photos to google photos with good internet and it got so slow I gave up so I defenitely feel your pain!
is there any fix for that? if i root the phone?
i did use original cable but front usb port. will try the rear port thank you
its kinda pain in the ass to take out the sd card and take off the case and look for a paper clip every time
this is really retarded to be having this issue in 2018 i think
