Internal Storage showing less in Samsung Galaxy S - General Questions and Answers

Hello Guys,
I have an issue with the internal storage of my SGS. It is showing only 831MB
This is what it shows me in the Task Manager>Package
Package Size: code+ data
Program : 306Mb/831MB
Even in the Settings>SD Card and Phone storage options the Internal Storage available is shown as 525MB only.
I have upgraded to Froyo using KIES and then rooted the phone using z4root and then installed Ryan ZA's one click lag fix. The phone is working fine without any issues.
Can anyone please help me on this. The internal storage is 2GB so it should show around 1.8GB. Am I missing anything on this?? Please help..

G'day Sunny,
I'm a noobie but have been trying to sort out phone storage issues on my SGS with 2.2.1 installed.
My searching seems to suggest that OCLF actually works by creting a 1 gig partition in the pnone storage that 2.2 Froyo actually uses to achieve the speed increases. I suspect that this is where your memory has gone.
Myproblem is that I want to use OCLF on my unit but no matter what i do i cannot seem to free up 1 gig in the phone storage - with all my installed apps deleted i still only seem to show 970M free and OCLF wants 1 Gig - anyone got any clues?

Low Storage Space

Hi all..i have a T-Mobile MDA,Rom ver.is 1.8.10.2 WWE and extRom Ver.is 1.8.10.104.I have a 1GB Memory Card inserted in my device also. Now the problem is that m getting error messages after every minute that
"Your phone is running low on free storage space.Delete old or unused items to create more space."
What its mean?? m already using 1Gb card and i think this problem is with the phone internal memory.I want to fix this problem. And my phone is also working slow sometimes...Plz any suggestions for my both problems...Should i upgrade my Rom Ver.??? Plz advice
an sd card is like a big floppy putting it in dont mean anything apart from you can store data on it
some applications you can reinstall on the sdcard rather then phone storage
but sd cards are slower and some applications warn about being put on the sd

Storage bug?

I think I saw someone post about this in the root thread but I cant find it.
A few days ago LBE Guard(on jellybean) set my phone on a bootloop, and I had to restore. I just tried to download my Google Music into my phone so I wont have to stream, and it said my internal card had 230ish mb out of 600ish mb available...THE ****! so I checked out storage and theres a bunch of USB DISK /STORAGE/USBDISK_1.X not sure if this is why my internal memory has so little TOTAL space now...but this definitely shouldnt be there...how do I fix this problem?
can someone help me out with this?

Problem with microSD

Hello everyone I have a problem with my Galaxy for some time that until now had not given me particular discomfort but now has worsened and is really obnoxious, some time later he bought from a friend of mine my current Galaxy again 3 months even now with the guarantee, shortly after updating to the latest version Android 2.3.6 FP1 appeared the first fault for some time, the cell did not recognize the microSD after a while 'time, I realized that after a reboot and reappear but I do not know as they had exchanged the microsd with the internal memory of 1.5 GB for data, in fact if I went in and I appeared the microSD memory 4Gb as Archive interior and 1.5Gb as SD Card, and how I was going to remove the microSD inside me disappeared Archive , also noticed this defect in File Manager, after a while 'I'm used to and I continued to use so the cell also trying to root and mod but nothing after leaving the tell idle for maybe almost a month with the Original Rom, I immediately turned on again just occurred to me to install the CM10A5 with Kernel 3 after a little 'use I noticed a deterioration in the Archives of Internal hours is recognized as 1.85 GB and the memory hidden applications (in fact, if I go with the file manager I find some app data), and the SD Card as 1.52 Gb then the internal data memory and the microSD USB instead as Archive from 3.68 Gb and if I access the file manager I get the internal memory first and then if I press external_sd I get the Android folder with some data in the app so I can not access the microSD.
I do not know what to do if you do not replace the original ROM and send it in for service, though I doubt that manage to fix it.
This for me is the last thing to do, I would like to hear some of your advice first, before sending it off for repair.
Thank you in advance anyone help me.
Thank you.
Matteo.
P.S. I'm sorry for the bad English.
I also have same problem

[Q] Internal Storage is Low

I have ARHD 7.3 installed and keep getting the storage is low notification constantly. This must be the system storage but I don't know how to check it.
I have nearly 400MB free from the 1.15GB user data partition
SD has 6GB free
Every app that can be moved to SD has been moved
Disabled the built in mail app as I read that it stores emails in the system partition
Uninstalled dropbox and facebook app
The only thing that seemed to help was to go to Storage and select the 2nd Make more space option and clear the "Temporary files from HTC apps" (currently 7.02GB). The problem with that is:
TuneIn radio app stops working with "System Audio" error message
Skype stops working properly too
If you do a 4ext/nandroid backup and reflash, the problems go away but then come back as soon as you restore the backup you took
Don't what else to try. Help!
The way I see it, low internal memory is a hardware limitation. Considering this is a 5 year old phone, there is little that can be done especially as newer apps are more bloated. The problem is even worse if you are using Kitkat/Lollipop based ROMs since the OS itself takes up a lot of space.
One workaround which you can try if you can manage to get a high speed SD card (UHS-I) is to increase the data partition size. Check this mod for more details http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-sensation/development/mod-turbo-data-8gb-data-partition-t3036742 . I myself am waiting for a new card to prolong my phone's lifespan.

Moto G 2015 8GB Storage mistery

Hello everyone, I recently bought a Moto G 2015 with 8 gb of internal storage, came with Lollipop and recently upgraded it to Marshmallow. The problem is that after restoring all my applications the sum of the used internal storage doesn't match the free space that should be available. Specifically I have 2.06 GB of installed apps and it reports that there are 3.72 GB used.. so there is almos 1.65 GB of vanished storage space. I wonder that maybe the marshmallow update file remains there and may be part of the missing space, but that cant be for all the missing storage space.
Here is a screenshot of the situation (Forum doesnt let me post link to a image: (It shows in the top bar of internal storage: 3,72GB in use of 4,54GB. Below: Apps: 2,06 GB. Cache: 2,06 MB.)
Maybe this was covered, but are the only alternatives to free that mistery space to root the phone and find the culprit?
Thanks in advance!
Carlos.
Hi there, android always eats up some internal storage, make a cache wiping and see what happens.
(Be careful about factory reset whether you attempt so, search about FRP, unfortunately been through that recently; basically don't change your google account password whenever you are attempting to factory reset your device).
Also, MM comes with an option to set sdCard as internal storage, check that out if you have a REALLY GOOD micro-sd maybe that could be your solution to a lot of future headache.
Regards!

Haha, I have a 32gb Samsung EVO Performance Class 10 UHS1 card that has speeds of up to 80MBPS (read) and 20MBPS (write), and it still reported too slow. However, it works better than my Kingston 16 GB Class 10 UHS1 card... Way better. I don't think any SD card will be adequate for what the tests require, they will all say "too slow" even though it may be the highest end card.
