Low Storage Space - General Topics

Hi all..i have a T-Mobile MDA,Rom ver.is 1.8.10.2 WWE and extRom Ver.is 1.8.10.104.I have a 1GB Memory Card inserted in my device also. Now the problem is that m getting error messages after every minute that
"Your phone is running low on free storage space.Delete old or unused items to create more space."
What its mean?? m already using 1Gb card and i think this problem is with the phone internal memory.I want to fix this problem. And my phone is also working slow sometimes...Plz any suggestions for my both problems...Should i upgrade my Rom Ver.??? Plz advice

an sd card is like a big floppy putting it in dont mean anything apart from you can store data on it
some applications you can reinstall on the sdcard rather then phone storage
but sd cards are slower and some applications warn about being put on the sd

programs/memory/storage?

Hi guys
sorry for this really newbie question but when installing new progs on the pocket pc, internal memory is used, correct? When the memory becomes used do the programs get loaded onto storage card? I have a 1 gb sd card.
Can you run programs from storage card? How does it work?
sd cards are slower then internal storage
sd cards have a limited number of writes before they die
when you install from the pc activesync when you can pick the sd card to if you say you dont want to install in the default place
things like today items should not be installed on sd's as it is slow
and gets turned off at times when the pda is "turned off"
sd cards can never act as application ram only storage
because of all the resons state over this

Weird Memory Location Problem

I have a HTC Touch (Elf) with the 1GB memory card.
When I download or install something, even if I tell it to save to memory card, it still seems to go onto the internal memory. I don't quite understand what's going on, but it is of course limiting what I can do as the internal memory is very small.
When selecting install location as 'Storage Card' its as if the shortcut to that is pointing to some location on internal memory, as checking the memory usage shows my internal memory depleting and my storage card not changing.
Unless I move files by cutting and pasting afterwards.
Cheers in advance.

OK to narrow the problem down a bit... when I install something and it gives you the option where to install it i.e. on phone or storage card, whether I pick phone OR storage card it always ends up on the phone.
I cannot install programs to storage card! Which is not good as the phone memory is tiny!
Any ideas please?

MIUI reads only the EXT3 partition of my SD Card (NOT Fat32)

I'm using MIUI-1.12.9 with APPS2SD after preparing a 512MB partition for the apps on my 8GB Class2 MicroSD Card. The remaining section I used to store files for flashing, music, data, etc.
Now all of a sudden, my phone gives me 'You may remove the SD Card' error. It shows the MicroSD Card as unavailable and even when I connect vias USB, the computer cannot detect it. I tried connecting the card separately to the computer using an adapter, but no luck. However, it still reads the EXT3 partition where all the apps are stored as all the apps are still available to me.
Any ideas on what could be wrong and how to resolve this? I want to backup all my apps first but I can't do that with out Android recognizing the card
I don't have a solution for you, but just out of curiosity why in the hell do you use APPS2SD on Defy? After you install the ROM there is around 1GB of free space on the internal memory. This is more than enough to install over 100 apps. Moreover you can move some of the to SD-card from the interface (Manage Applications).
I figured, the more space I free up the more breathing space right? Anywhich way it was working great. No noticeable lag even though I use a Class 2 SD Card. When all of a sudden after over a week, it suddenly gives me a notification "You can safely remove your SD Card now." Huh? Even after reboot, it gives me the same message. I took out the card and plugged it directly in and it doesn't read, but the EXT3 partition still works fine!
I could just get a new card and start from scratch. But I'm intrigued by this error! Gotta get to the bottom of this. Didn't get any response on the General forum, so I figured I'd try my luck here at the risk of annoying a few people. Can anyone help with any suggestions?

Samsung Galaxy note II "inefficient space" error

Today my 32gb sd card stopped working on me and now when i try download and install apps all i get is not enough space yet i have 6gb internal memory.
I tried downloading apps of google chrome on the phone and installing that way but says the same thing,
The phone kept unmounting and mounting my sd card untill it didnt work..
I really dont know what to do, ive searched on the internet and everything and nothing seems to help.
I think you the sd card is either corrupted or removed unexpectedly (without unmounting)
Is your card readable when connected to PC or laptop? If yes this could be a minor problem. Switch off your phone, remove your sd card and re insert it.
Hope it may fix the problem.
Regarding space, the core apps and system UI will consume some hidden space even though you have space left over. Clear all cache, history and offline data, It will buy you space.

[Q] Move applications after swapped memory

I've been reading a lot. I'm trying to get some way to move applications after having swapped the memory. I'm using SM with an sript (extsd2internalsd xz.txt) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2430046. It works but is unstable, suddenly disappear the music or some application and is necessary to reboot until you get t again. Meanwhile, a notice: "not enough memory, some functions stop working" , appears. Besides, any new application you install, goes directly to the old internal memory, despite it appears like sd card (external). I'm trying to find some way to move applications from the true internal memory ( false external) , to the new internal (sd card). Any help!!!
Thanks
