They recently acknowledged our support towards the tablet .
We will get s/w update out ASAP. We're also releasing the kernel this week. The gTablet should NEVER have been pulled.

This I never even expected, I cant beleve that they are actually going to release it! That is what makes a good company good! Better than *cough*Apple*cough*
At any rate, I think VS may still have a shot at this. If they can push the update before the 25th than they might still have a chance. I can even imaging the G-tablet competing with the ipad if they ether A) Fix TnT B)Have a disable option.
Anyways, Viewsonic, if you read this keep up the good for and dont listen to the critics yakking about the screen.

The newest update that Roebeet found yesterday has a disable option for TNT.

Amazing, Can't wait to get my VS gTab next week after a couple more gift cards!!!!

Alternate launcher ability, so you can bypass the TnT default homescreen. That launcher is part of TnT Lite 3.0.0, which I'll be releasing tonight.

hope to see this update as ASAP

Awesome news. VS actually do care! Can't wait for the update.

Wow ! Things keep moving really fast here... it's great !

Ok....these latest posts coupled with the release of the Kernel code release will solidify my decision to get this tab. Kudos to VS.

Roeby,
Subjective question, but since I am super happy with a nice & stable 2.4, do you think 3.0 is worth upgrading to? One thing I am not thrilled about is losing the ratings stars on apps in the market.
I actually prefer the old market. My Incredible (even though rooted) updated to the new market. Too busy, IMO. Old market is nice & simple. Seems Android is trying for the XBOX look
Any insight on what makes 3.0 worth the jump would be appreciated
Newer Nvidia drivers in the update, as an example perhaps? added: Regardless, I just did a CW back-up and new Titanium update, just in case

This is wonderful! I was a bit shocked by Staples actions and all the rumours, and is good to see VS fighting back!

Not sure if this would save their Xmas sales but should improve their sales next year, I think.
The gtablet would be a good low end tegra 2 tablet next year. That should be their selling point, IMO. However, I do (like I said before) give props to VS.

I went back and forth about the stars, myself. You could just as easily downgrade Vending.apk versus upgrade, and I figured that Google might force the upgrade on you, anyway (they've done that the last two times and it's how I got 2.2.7 in the first place). So I figured the new Market was the way to go.
3.0 does has video improvements, new Maps, TSCalibration hack and of course the SDCARD2 scanning which is a big plus in the new firmware. I think it's worth getting.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to this community, Adam.

Wow go viewsonic!!! Honestly this was an awesome move in my book.. they used xda as feedback and a community to learn from rather than other manufacturers using xda to figure out how to block root.

I agree. It is refreshing to see a company react to things as they are in the real world instead of the idealization that they had for product conception. I feel like a lot of big name companies would have never acknowledged a "lowly internet forum" as a source for feedback and product insight. Viewsonic earns a lot of kudos for their prompt response to kernal source issues. Even though the original stock is viewed as a fail by most, Viewsonic addressing the issue publicly AND actually releasing updates is very good business.
I feel much happier holding my gtab and no longer wonder if I should be taking advantage of the return window.

Yup, good for VS. As a side note, I was going to buy a panasonic projector, but now I'm looking at VS, because of the positive way they have responded here.

Quick live wallpapers+sticking?

First off am I the only one that wishes the original opengl would stick? Performance was alot better for that one (especially for the nexus wallpaper). Is getting the performance of the original live wallpaper we had and the sticking of the new patch possible? Right now that is the only problem stopping my phone from being the sex.
EDIT: Problem seems to happen when another widget is updated. Its not perfectly smooth, but not bad, but when a widget updates it really slows down the wallpaper to a noticeable halt. I doubt im the first to notice this, but for anyone else that really wants nexus wallpaper, having less widgets on your main page seems to help.
I moved the news+weather widget you see below to another page and it seems to jitter less.
I agree. Losing the performance from the new OpenGL isn't worth having LWP's. They might have a fix for this when Toast's Awesome Sauce ROM is complete.

Maybe you could try to solve the issue for us rather than wasting your time

Yeah I disagree with "there is no point in having them if it is slower".......the patch works pretty dam well with most wallpapers its just the peski nexus being alittle to slow to be usable for me. MagnusRagnarok my OP was not an attack on you at all. I am extremely thankful for what you have done, and hope you have not taken my post that way. I am just trying to see if more people feel the same way as me. For me getting the nexus one wallpaper running alittle bit better would get me closer to completing my phone.
Ill bump since I edited my first post. Hopefully someone finds it helpful.

Hey guys, I know a lot of us have been dying to get the nexus wallpaper working without having to do the opengl fix to make wallpapers stick, seeing as it made the wallpaper ran really choppy. I found a way to get it to stick, run smooth, and not have to change the opengl. I used the update zip posted by emerica6541 and it stuck right on and have ran smooth ever since. Granted he did modify the wallpaper so the lights are smaller, but I think it looks better that way on our heroes due to the smaller screen. It has survived multiple reboots, and over 30 mins of sleep time. I am running darch's legend rom though, so I'm not sure if this will work for damage's or flipz's roms, but its worth a shot.

Just a note though, when you first set the wallpaper, your phone will freeze for a min, then it'll take you to the bootscreen. Once it reloads, you should be good to go.

[APP] New Xscope update version 6

Had Xscope lite on my Nexus as the default browser. The reason I loved it was because of the look, it was "lite" unlike the other browsers like Opera (which do run faster) I liked xscope because the top bar was minimal and scrollable.
With this new version they COMPLETELY changed it! Now it has a watermark that reads "trial version" totally TACKY! And two navigation bars!!! How can they make such a drastic change?!
Needless to say uninstalled. Now going to try to find an apk for the older version.
SUCKS BALLS!
I was very surprise too this morning when i install this new update going back to previous one too.
Please let me know if you find the previous version.
why not just stop being cheap and help support the dev by buying the full one?
Just installed the trial and bought straight away - can't believe I missed this!

because the browser isn't even one of the top 5 available.
the dev hasnt been shy about charging more than it is worth becuase google "takes too much"

Aye, dolphin did the same thing.
The original one had a very simplistic tab bar, but now with the HD version you need to swipe all the way to the corner of the screen to call upon a stupid popup tab bar.
I need to find how to save old apks, anyone know which folder they're stored in?

About the dev charging too much?...its three dollars? You could find that on the ground in one day. Damn...I mean damn do we (Android users) need to support our devs...look, I have to say this on a dev forum
Full version is worth the price to many, but in a few weeks all of the old features that are missing at this moment will be replaced. Wait and see...this browser is going to be so complete. It's already number one in my book.
yeah. Xscope 5 is the best browser available. Its a bit slow and laggy on Vibrant, but its still very good. V6 changed everything, i downgraded immediately to V5 and emailed developer to maybe try to change his mind and go back to developing V5 (some extra features, more optimization, but keep the GUI)

Improvements to v6 will be coming from the dev. On my phone its running faster then the older version...by far! Instant back and forward, faster page loads, ..better everywhere. Dev said he will be adding in more features that were left out but it does take time. He needs to make sure he does it right, or there would be bugs.

Yeah it definitely loads pages faster, but accessing tabs is a little more of a pain in the ass. You can't have the tab bar open by itself, the stupid control bar always has to be open at the same time.

Personally, I hope he keeps doing what he's doing.
Sure there are things that aren't in the new one that were in the old one (such as a custom user agent per favourite), but the dev. has already said the additional features are coming.
There may be some ppl who don't like the new look, but others do, and it seems a lot faster than the old one. It's a total re-write, so I'm sure he's coded it much better having learned some lessons.
But hey, I only supported the guy 6 months ago when I bought it, so I'm sure my opinion doesn't count as much as those who are freeloading the unpaid trial version...
To avoid three presses to get to bookmarks, you can make bookmarks your home page, and start an extra tab leaving the bookmarks tab available. You can swipe between tabs to get to your bookmarks tab.

And Android has been a buggy unstable nightmare. I spend most of my time with my phone trying to get it to work.
Don't get me wrong, I love it when it works. It refuses to work quite often.
The ROM I'm tinkering with (see signature) seems promising.

Try out a g2 or nexus one, or high end motorola, or low end samsung without touch wiz or an lg or other phone with a vanilla rom. The cappy has a great gpu and screen but the original stock rom wasnt very good with unreliable gps and at least for me big problems connecting to samsung kies or a windows pc's in general. The leaked froyo generally works a lot better and still has major bugs that don't bother me too much. The official froyo should make people happier even if it's taking too long.
Remember how much the iphones sucked untill ios 3 came out when it could finally do the things you'd expect it to do in the os like picture/video text and copy/paste. And it was already on its second or third hardware version.
But that's a bad example because android was already ahead in many areas (multi taking, app drawer, folders, notifications that didn't stop what you were doing, widgets) and still is. And in ios3 you still had a crappy camera.

I'm fully aware that Android is a gazillion times better than what Samsung is presenting.
I didn't mean to imply otherwise.
How the hell can someone go vote WM7 as the best mobile OS, when no device actually HAS the OS on it? Because they like the concept of it, it automatically makes it better the OS's that have already proven themselves? Hmmmm.......
Mikeymike try DG s aosp rom. Its the most vanilla android rom we have for now. It still has some touchwhiz in it but what's not is pretty awesome. Like most of us on att this is my first android phone and I didn't care for TW much so I used LP. Tw reminded me too much of ios . I'm looking forward to a complete.aosp rom

Ice Cream Sandwhich Info

A friend of mine's father works for a major phone company. Legally I'm not aloud to tell you. But I have info on ICS, and if you have any hope on wanting info. You'll believe me. First of all ICS is completed. The release version is 4.0, not 2.4. It truly fuses Gingerbread, with Honeycomb. You know how the new Motoblur status bar looks? Thats kinda the whole theme to it. ICS is aimed to work on any and all devices. Tablets, and Phones. Just how a while ago somebody found out that hidden in HC is a GB UI. ICS UI will depend on the size of your screen. SO obviously tablets have Software buttons, and Phones hardware. Apparently there's an option to enable Software buttons in a menu similar to CM7's tablet tweaks. There using a new way to manage apps and the memory so that battery life is amazing! A Xoom apparently can go 75 HOURS! Yes Hours with out a single charge *Wifi Model*. ICS will be out for public development within the next two months. So expect CM8 in November :3 My source is amazing, I just can't say anything that will lead it back to me. ICS is smooth, fast, and amazing! If you guys truly want to see Pics of ICS *Yes, Pictures* I'll upload them next week. That will be the next time I can get a hold of some ICS. I'll upload the Lockscreen, Browser, and About Screen. I just need help on knowing what to blur out so my friend don't get in trouble. I was considering doing a Nandroid backup and seeing what people what do with that, but as the wife explained. I'd go to Jail Xo. So hopefully you believe me. If not wait to have your mind blown next week Thank You
I hope you'll deliver what you just promised
I truly can, it's not that hard. I had been using Honeycomb for 4 months before the Xoom was released :3

That's right, leaks do happen. Happened with Windows...happened with 2 iPhones being "lost" in a bar (happened with the 4 and the new 5 coming out). We don't live in a perfect world. "Accidents" happen
Are the home screens and app drawer designs radically different? Sorry, I'm not familiar with the motoblur theme.

I've had a galaxy s2 since may, and just bought a xoom 3g. The galaxy battery lasts a day. The xoom has lasted 4 days so far and still going. That's with gmail and exchange set to push, and on 3g. So 75 hours as stated by the op doesn't seem that great. Unless he means 75 hours continuous video playing?
WOW! I'm so excited about ICS!

People might have missed this but there is an important question in the OPs post quoted above.
OP: My suggestion is to look at the already leaked images from the older build and see if there is anything that seems strange in those areas. I don't know how subtle Google's watermarks are.
Posting to follow this thread!

Question CoverScreen OS vs Samsprung

Have anyone used CoverScreen OS or Samsprung in Z Flip 3? Which one do you think is better and which one is safer?
Edit : I decided to close the poll so that this thread will not be biased to one side. Let's just share the features and differences between both products and let anyone decide their own choice.

Interesting question
It's difficult to answer because they are both under development and not finished apps
I am trying both of them and both craches from time to time, but as mentioned, beta versions
Personally I prefer Samsprung, there are news every day (several times usually) and I think it's really great, and well done job
Cover OS is way out of proportions regarding price, too expensive for a none working app, and also if it's working
At any time I would go for Samsprung
Just my opinion
Both developers have done a great job! thanks to them!
I'd also go with Samsprung. Way better support, updates, more features ect. The developer is also very responsive.
Cover Os has just entered Beta status and has a price tag that is obnoxious. Yes, i understand lots or blood, tears and work has gone into it, but as it still is, half baked software, the price is out of this world. We have to pay for something that we are testing, no thanks.
i'm totally fine paying when things are up and running as should, and i encourage both developers to put a price for their work. But as of now, no.
Of course Samsprung...
Do a poll, it'll answer you...
A few weeks ago I would have said CoveScreen OS, but the SamSpring suddenly took lead and I now find it superior.
The navbar, the customizable app launcher, keyboard(!), no features behind paywall, compatibility with stock widgets, super quick and responsive developer. It's an easy choice for me.
It's all wrong, trying to compare 2 apps trying to do different things - they are both in beta and developing very fast.
We are very lucky to have 2 very talented developers making that [ex-factory useless screen] into something geniunely useful.
Try each one - for a couple of days, not for 5 minutes. Then you have to reach your own conclusion.
And don't consider pricing for the moment, only once it/they are out of beta.
Please don't make a poll, that could impact development of one of the apps.

I agree with you 100% it's not fair on anyone to choose one or the other, there was a time when the moderators would have taken down a post such as this.
In my opinion this is a valid question.
Should you pay blindly for something that might not function correctly (beta) and you cannot test fully to see if it fills your needs.
or test something that is fully free and you can test all features and if they fills your needs.
But of course, test both. one you can test fully, the other you can.

IMO since both are in development it's too early to even make a comparison. Both apps are moving very fast, so stability and functionality are not comparable. They are both moving targets at the moment
Maybe after both of their general availability, since then they are notionally stable.
If you're commenting about the subscription policy of one of them, I have tested its free version and haven't felt constrained. And there is no way that those values would fly in the Google Play universe, so I really doubt they are definitive values (time will tell, just my thoughts).
But still, once they are released and updates are incremental, why not run a poll.
Both applications interest me. I have only tried Coverscreen OS as I use Samsung Health persistently. I'm following both threads at present. Kudos to both developers

Thank you for this! Much appreciated.
I'm brand new to this phone and kinda not impressed with it (so far)..I'm a serious gadget nerd, so the flip/fold tech played too big a part in my decision to get it..I'd watched a samsprung video before I'd bought it so did expect a lot more use of the front screen than I get at the minute...like I said I am new to it so hoping to like it more the more I get to do with it but a quick question about samsprung, can it be used on android 12 or no? I updated the phone soon as I got it, then started seeing that it can't be used with A12!? Is there a way/work around?

Both are pretty cool and somehow useful. Personally I don't use them because I don't need them and everything I'd like to have is just some more widget on the stock cover screen. However we're pretty luck to have those two developers here.
CoverScreen OS ask for way too many permissions, some really strange, i was not to ever able to run it, so yes for Samsprung
For me, the UI/UX of CoverScreen OS is better.
