Froyo - Captivate General

Does anyone else find it weird that uk has gotten 2.2.1 and we have not seen a froyo leek newer than mid nov?
I am thinking that we might get 2.2.1 not 2.2
What does anyone else think?

I think there's too many speculative threads on the subject.

If that is what you think I have a question for you: WHY DO YOU ADD TO IT?

2.2 had a major issue. We will be getting 2.2.1 in the states which resolved the issues 2.2 had. This fix might be what the hold up was with froyo.

I think we have a good chance of getting one or the other.

skip it and just give us 2.3 GB! froyo has now lost its luster.

Request for porting MS froyo mods to XT701/XT720

EDIT:Request for porting MS froyo mods to XT701
I am a asian. I have bought my XT701 for 3 months. Once I get my phone, I rooted and overclock my phone in 1 day. I have also done app2sd(app2ext).
I really need for Android 2.2, Froyo has full Flash Player 10.1 support. I'd like to watch some flash video/play flash games. And in Android 2.2 there is performance improvement. It's new JIT compiler that will improve the CPU performance when running apps. And other things like using less RAM.
I have very serious launcher redraw/FC problem. I've tried LauncherPro and ADW EX. LauncherPro have ultra serious redraw and ADW sometimes FC. The default launcher is so laggy and can't resize widgets.
All I need is Android 2.2.
I looked at my schoolmates' MS and HTC legend/desire/dhd. Even the Chinese Shanzhai (pirated brands and goods, particularly electronics) phones can have Android 2.2. I am envious of that!!!!
Please
All I need is Android 2.2.

What is here to bump? Dexter already said he's gonna port some of his mods to the XT720 (and since the XT701 is nearly the same it'll work on that one too).
Please stop bumping this thread!
Dexter already knows about this and as soon as his XT720 arrives, he's gonna try to make roms for it and those roms will work on the XT701 too (although little modification might be needed, but not much). So please be patient. Bumping threads every time is useless.

i think you missed his point.
they handle the update direct for their european devices without the carrier having to test, approve, add bloat, etc. so they generally meet their deadlines.
The i9000 has had froyo for quite a while now.

thank you, yes this was my point precisely

Almost a week no code yet

It has been almost a week after the captivate sh*tty froyo release ( I never flashed it). I thought the MFG had 3 days to release the sorce code to be in spec with android
To be honest I "believe" it is around 30 or 60 days. But I'm leaning more toward 60 days.

why does everyone consider the "ATT release" as THE FROYO RELEASE.
Europe and Canada released froyo first, ATT was late to the party.
Because it was THE FROYO RELEASE.... for AT&T.
Stupid questions get obvious answers.
I sure hope it's soon, it will be nice to see what the devs come up with once it's finally released.

Uhh...because thats when it was released for the Captivate on ATT (and your in a captivate forum)
Was it released?
I mean what does it mean to be released? When I think about all the (stated) people that bought the captivate (at&t), I have to imagine that the large majority of them are not "tech savy", and 1) don't even know there's an update 2) wouldn't really know how to go about updating even if they did.
I think, maybe, much of the bad press prompted this push out "early". Without OTA, this apparently large number of people (without techie type friends) may never update.
Having said that, I work with someone who just bought one and it came with 2.2 installed. Seemed to lag quite a bit. So does that define "released"? Does it start the clock on the source code release? Will there be a 2.2.1 or .2 or .3 release around the corner? Does anybody really know what time it is?
Thoughts?

rogers in canada has a captivate. they released open source 2.2 for it, but i don't know if there was much done with this open source by the devs. or if most of the JL1 roms are just stripped down versions of the rogers release. Maybe because ATT KB1 is a newer build or that it may contain uses for the audience chip i guess would be the only additional benefits over the rogers release?? i may be wrong.

Has anyone played with Honeycomb yet?

I have. UI takes some time getting use too. Doesn't show much performance improvement. The worst part of honeycomb is the lack of buttons. You literally have to tap the screen to go to the home screen...grr

LG f-d up Froyo, CM7 is working on a stable Gingerbread build, and LG is threatening to release a Gingerbread build that's going to fix the dozen problems their Froyo build created. So, the answer to your question is no. I think getting a stable version of anything mainstream on the phone is what everyone is focusing on.

I really am kind of a "the glass is half full" guy but I'm a bit skeptical. The problems we're experiencing on the G2X are the same as those who got the O2X six months ago. Assuming there was a four month development period on the O2X that means whatever is wrong with the s/w has been in place for ten months. It also took months of hammering by our European brethren before LG even publicly admitted there was a problem with the O2X. Knowing in advance the O2X had problems I got the G2X anyway thinking LG couldn't/wouldn't allow a repeat performance. We all see how that turned out. Unless LG hired away top HTC and Samsung programmers to build their 2.3.3 ROM the question of quality is a good one. I really really want LG to redeem themselves and I hope they do. Perhaps Paul would be interested in relocating to Seoul?

So do you think we will ever see GB on infuse that is from at?
Please refrain from creating threads like this. As it is there are many, many threads on the same subject. Chances are that these kinds of threads would get flamed and closed.
Yes we will .... eventually ... as you can see there have been leaks so its being worked on. They probably are taking their time due to sg2 sales and due to the fact that the 2.3 release for Rogers had bugs to get worked out. My prediction is after the new year. Hopefully I'm wrong. It goes from Google to Samsung so they can load their bloat like touchwiz and then to att so they can load their bloat, then to us

I disagree. Not only are these post unnecessary because they only crowd the forum, but logical thinking would say that yes we are going to get Gingerbread since there are several leaks, meaning they are in the works of getting fixed.
But in regards to the OP, yes we are going to get Gingerbread, its just getting the kinks worked out. Patience... and besides we already have gingerbread. its going to be the same thing basically as the rogers stock rom. just the android version that will be different and maybe some "fixes"

Because unless I'm wrong (which I frequently am!) we probably won't have bluetooth or HDMI working 100% until we get an official ATT GB release.
That would be about the only reason to care about an official GB release from ATT.

Bluetooth is 100% on Samsung-derived ROMs to my knowledge. Well, it's working as well as stock.
As far as Bluetooth in CM7, LB and I have said this before and we will say it again - The AT&T GB release will do NOTHING to improve that situation in any way, shape, or form.
