HTC support's response to Froyo & Exchange ActiveSync "Sync protocol error" - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

HTC support's response to Froyo & Exchange ActiveSync "Sync protocol error"
So after moving from HTC Hero to Desire Z, I started getting "Sync Protocol Error" after the initial sync with Exchange 2010.
Many threads on this site and on many others sites exist about this issue, a lot of them having a workaround in the shape of removing and re-adding the account, but absolutely nothing worked for me. until I ran into this one and gave it a try:
- I can't posts links..."
I implemented this solution successfully and I now have ActiveSync work perfectly on my device. so wanted this thread to stand out from the dozens of threads on many forums so people can find the solution to this very annoying problem easily.
This is the solution from the original poster and all credit goes to him:
"Have your Exchange admin use the Microsoft mobile admin tool to delete the partnership for the device. Once done, the next sync will succeed."
When trying to implement this solution on Exchange 2010, we found that the "Mobile Admin Tool" is already built into the Exchange Management Console, and these are the steps that you need to take in order to remove the partnership on 2010:
1. Open Exchange Management Console
2. Go to Recepient configuration
3. Right click on user and choose "Manage Mobile Phone"
4. At this stage my username had 3 different phones which Exchange identifies according to User Agent. the Desire Z was named HTC Vision.
5. We removed all the phones by choosing "Remove Mobile Phone Partnership" and choosing finish. you have to repeat this step for all phones because the dialog box actually closes without letting you delete all partnerships.
I'm not a big Exchange expert, but if you have a version prior to 2010 running on your Exchange server you might need to use "Microsoft Exchange Server ActiveSync Web Administration Tool":
- I can't post links..."
Anyway doesn't matter which version or tool you are using, removing the partnership is the golden solution.
No problems with syncing after that is done. many thanks to tscalzott from the HTC forums.

Oh cr*p... again this worked for a couple of days and stopped working.
I'm attacking this problem both with HTC email support and phone support.
Email support, after a few useless tips (factory reset etc') sent me the following:
"With regards to your inquiry,
Kindly note that this issue is escalated to a higher level to be investigated and we will be replying to you shortly the moment we get the update."
I have a feeling that I will not hear from them in the upcoming weeks or ever.
With phone support, they actually told me that I need to download the certificate from the OWA site and install it on the phone. they said they will send me instructions via email on the installation part because the support personnel probably had no idea how to do that. I also tried without any luck - I could find some tips on how to install WPA certificates but not the CET certificate that you can download from Exchange OWA.
After first call - didn't receive any email.
Called again asking for them to resend the email - still didn't receive anything.
Just got off the phone from the third call - the support agent made some more checks and said that there was probably a mistake with the first agent I talked to - as there is no need to install a certificate on the phone in order to work with Exchange ActiveSync on the phone.
He did however said, much like the email I got, that this issue is being escalated internally and at some point in time, information about a solution will be posted online at the HTC site.
If any of the many people having this problems are seeing this thread, please go ahead and send your case at h t t p : / / w w w . h t c .com/uk/CS_Mail.aspx or any other country in hopes that they will understand that there's a serious issue going on as they receive more complaints. I tried telling him to try and escalate the fact that although many people are not calling in (simply given up or using touchdown application instead), the escalation point should definitely just google the problem and see how many users are suffering from it. I do however understand that HTC's policy might be to only handle issues that are being reported to them, and not issues that are discussed on the web as they have no control over those users' actions.
Now we wait hoping for the best...

Any progress on this? I have a HD2 with the Desire Z NAND build on it. Love it for everythinggggg except that my exchange account doesnt sync calendar :'(

Anyone Know What's Going On With 4Smartphone.net?

From their homepage:
4SmartPhone is experiencing technical difficulties. This is causing inflated loads on some of the machines, as a result making our website unresponsive.
Our technical personnel are diligently working towards resolving this issue. Due to these issues, the 4SmartPhone website will be temporarily unavailable.
We are well aware of the situation and so we ask you to not send an email to support. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We will keep all of you updated as often as we can.

Both the Outlook Web Service, the normal Exchange Service, and the Push Mail Service have all been unavailable for over 48 hours and I'm starting to wonder if they're going to be coming back at all.
AND --- this is the second time this has happened within 2 months.

I stupidly thought that my device was having problems so I removed the 4smarphone settings (which removed all my email/contacts/tasks/calendar entries from my PDA)... Got home and found out OWA and Outlook sync didn't work either. So I'm stuck!
This is pretty bad... they haven't answered my support email and the website notice - simply stating only the 'website' only is down - is highly unprofessional.
I wonder whether it has anything to do with their recent upgrade to Exchange 2007?
It looks like the service is back online as of 5:00 PM Pacific. I received the following in an email message:
Dear 4SmartPhone Customer,
Over the past two days we have experienced a rather serious crash on one of our Exchange Servers.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience this problem has caused you, but we are pleased to report that we have fixed the problem and taken all steps to ensure it will not happen again. Here are some things you will notice in the next few days:
1) Although it is now possible to connect to your mailbox again, it will only contain your new emails.
2) You can now send and receive emails.
3) Within the next few days, we will bring all original emails back on the Server.
4) Pro & Enterprise Clients can use their local copy in Offline Mode, and you must switch to connected mode to send & receive email. We will send a link to help you understand in a following email.
5) In addition, we are taking the following steps concerning the current Exchange 2003 servers: 4SmartPhone is rolling out more reliable Exchange 2007 on a brand new architecture; The fact that Exchange 2007 is more robust and combined with the new architecture, any failure are less likely, simpler and faster to recover from should we have to.
4SmartPhone sincerely appreciates your business. To demontrate our appreciation, your patronage, patience and trust in our service, we would like to extend a free month's service to you. We will automatically add the free month onto your contract. If you have any additional questions, please email us at [email protected] ,
Thank you.

I've been able to access new mail in my mailbox since around 5:00 PM Pacific, but all of my old mail is missing (as they indicated in thier message). I suspect it'll get populated from backups over the next day or so.
Not only is all the old mail missing, EVERYTHING is missing, CONTACTS, CALENDAR, MAIL.
EVERYTHING!
Anyone got there data back already? I still haven't and I am starting to get worried.
I haven't either.
If you access your accout via Outlook, then you probably already have a backup of your data in your OST file (file used by Outlook to store a local "cached" copy of your mailbox). I've been considering just exporting all of the data from my OST file into a PST file and then importing it into the new mailbox; however, I'm concerned that doing so may complicate the data migration 4Smartphone already has planned since the current mailbox is really only a "temporary" one.
Any Exchange experts want to comment??
Oh my gosh that sound horrible! 48 hours plus down! I have given 4smartphone.net a couple of trials in the past but always ended up going with other services, mainly due to the lack of a control panel with some extra user settings at 4smartphone.
Thank goodness I did not sign up!
Although I have used a fair few Exchange services I am definitely not an expert. This is critical stuff and I would not want to give incorrect advice. But to attempt a little reassurance, 4smartphone state in their FAQ that they run a full real-time "mirror" back-up of all data, plus an additional daily tape backup for long term protection.
It is almost certain that ALL data will be restored to your accounts, but they are a big company and with a lot of data. If they were down for 2 days this could take several more (at least) to fix and fully restore everything.
Also, most email servers keep attempting delivery for about 2 days, so messages that could not get through should still arrive... hopefully. Worst case they will bounce back to the sender with a message saying they couldn't be delivered so people know there was a outage and will hopefully resend.
Once you have data back I would suggest looking at other services... and I would try and pick one that specifies they have co-location if possible i.e Datacenter 1 is in Phoenix, Datacenter 2 mirrors everything in Norway or where ever.
I have used 1 and 1. I would not call them "good" and customer support is extremely weak. But they do have servers in the US, the UK and Germany. It would be quite hard for them to lose all their systems as they are just so huge. But I am sure there are much better services. I guess another reason I might pick 1 and 1 over 4smartphone is 1 and 1 let you have Outlook right away and it doesn't interfere with your right to cancel if you are dissatisfied. They also bill in just 3 month blocks. 4smartphone make you pay for the full year before you get Outlook. Many handhelds still only come with Outlook 2002 so many people really need at least the 03 version or it is not possible to check out the account properly (You have to have 03 at least to fully use the features of Exchange)
Take this is a reminder to have your own independent back up stategies. For example, I do not have my various domains registered with the same companies that do my hosting... I have an account with a domain reg company seperately. That way, if the hosting crashes, I can quickly set up another account elsewhere and point my DNS records at the new nameservers.
I also do not use Exhange as my primary account. My email accounts are hosted elsewhere and forward to Exchange for Direct Push. So I just have it for Push and as an archive. I have everything on my PC too.
Actually, I go one step further, I don't actually use Outlook for email (other than Push. It is probably a great email client at this point, but it has not always had a stellar history. I prefer Thunderbird. That's just me.
I also always retain offline data on my local PC and back it up every day or so (if only by dragging a copy of outlook.ost to another folder and dating it).
I also use a back up program on my handheld and use it daily.
If my Exchange hosting crashed with a total loss, all I would lose is the ability to use direct push temporarily. I would not lose a grain of data.
End of the day, there is only one person who really truly cares about your data and can take charge of protecting it.. YOU! Don't leave that solely to anyone else!
Sound like hell. Sympathies to all involved. Hope it is fully resolved very soon.
Edit: Here is the link to the list of MS Hosted Exchange Partners on their website. Might be useful to anyone considering looking at other providers:
http://www.microsoft.com/serviceproviders/solutions/catalog.aspx
Thanks for you detailed answer.
Actually, I DO have a backup. A REAL backup, not just the OST file. The last few days will be missing tho. I guess I will survive.
4smartphone ain't half bad WHEN it works. And even this crash would not have been so bad, if they just had kept us informed. They have not responded to 3 mails I sent. I understand they will have been inundated with mail, but then they should just post some kind of LATEST NEWS or UPDATE or whatever on their site.
Anyway, they just sent me a mail stating that all data WILL be restored, but that it could take another 48 hours.
Thanks again.

Mail2web also down!?!?!
Last night mail2web was also down. I had experienced huge delays (of hours!!!) and some message skipping.
Something weird is going on in the mail service providers kingdom!
mail2web down as well??!! That is freaky. Is this a 2007 upgrade induced horror that is going to bite us all? Hopefully I am just being paranoid (I do tend to be!).
nispen, I do apologize if it sounded like I was wagging my finger like you didn't know to back up your stuff! Of course you do - and that wasn't what I meant. I was sincerely symphathesing and that was about the only half-constructive thing I could throw in
I completely agree that communication from the company is key. ANY service, can have a crisis, no matter how good their continency plans. If they do a really good job keeping customers in the loop when it happens it could even leave me feeling positive about them. It would be more like, "wow this is bad, but these guys do care and I can see they are really breaking a sweat to fix this and it makes me trust them to resolve a crisis... which will inevitably happen to every company sometime".
But the generic "sorry for any inconvenience " notices would tick me off. I would want to hear regular updates with more specifics. Wouldn't even matter if I didn't understand the tech jargon involved. I just want to know that hour by hour they know what they are doing and are making specific progress.
Good to hear your data is going come back. Best of luck
No worries, no fingerwagging detected!

mail2web has been down since last Thur, and the outage continues, just got a reply from [email protected] saying they are still "trying" to fix the problem. So if 4smartphone is down and mail2web is down at around the same time, may be both of them have upgraded to MS Exchange 2007 at around the same time. If so, that say so much about Ex 2007 and WM5 push email, it is far from a mature and stable product.
Blackberry then has nothing to fear for the rest of this year.
For the non-Blackberry folks, IMAP IDLE is the way to go, it is fast and reliable, and almost free.
And for the less time discerning/sensitive folks, POP is the way to go. Just set the auto retrieval to every 5 min or 10 min.
Mail2web/4Smartphone vs. Blackberry vs. Idle vs...
I am also here strugling with mail2web. After my subscription, the first two weeks were ok, but then last week (or maybe in the end of the week before) it all started to fail.
The service is intermitent now. And delays of up to 3 hours are common.
I've used BB Connect but could not make it work in WM6 roms (I now there is a how-to-hack available, but I could not handle it alright). Also, I do not like much that BB Connect steals my GPRS connection and that whenever I want to use other network applications I have to disconnect from blackberry.net APN and connect to my operators'.
So I prefer to make a redirection of my work emails to another account.
That account could be an IMAP idle capable I have, but the problem is that poutlook does not handle idle and I didn't like much to have poutlook AND another client such as the good flexmail (which is a complete but also heavy app).
So I am now stuck here with not many options, except hoping that mail2web staff manages to overcome the difficulties they currently have. If the service works alright, I believe I would certainly upgrade my free subscription and begin using only mail2web as my 2nd email address...
Some very valid points being raised here which are worthy of more discussion. May I suggest we maybe think about breaking this up into separate threads though for clarity? This thread is essentially an immediate check in as to which Exchange servers are giving people grief (and it sounds like a rough ride, many sympathies to those affected).
Blackberry does seem robust, but I am not clear about it's full capabilties when used on WM devices. Be gr8 to discuss it more so I can learn!
Exchange has has some very powerful features (if it is working) but there is just as much I dislike about it! Only being able to send from one email address and frequent false positives for Spam when it's mail is received by some Linux based mail servers are among my gripes!
IMAP IDLE is cool. My experience is limited to vgsmail/ppc and Webis Flexmail. vgsmail is still sold I believe but not longer developed and I have found it very incomapatible with my more recent devices. I also bought Flexmail but found it very buggy at the time. To be fair it is being actively developed still further and supported and is sure to get better - may have done so already. I have also found that there seems to be slightly different deployments of IMAP IDLE and not all servers appear to give equal results... that is all way beyond my technical grasp though.
Then again there are also Exchange alternatives (not sure how they do on push) like - I might have these names wrong, Zimbra, Open X-change (or something like that. Plus there is SyncML and Funambol ( I know I have that spelled wrong.. someone please help me!).
What do you good people think! Should we maybe split this into threads (or even make use of existing ones and share the links around so we all know where to look?). I would really like to be able to review the options, but it would also be good to keep this forum fasirly organized and readable!

This Really Needs To Be Sorted (wm6_live)

There is a CLEAR evident problem with windows live mobile. When you login with your ID. things work fine. But if you drop your cell connection or soft reset you will get endless syncronization errors and push email will no longer work for you. The only solution is to clear your ID and log in again, but undoubtedly this will error again during your working day.
I did a search on this and other forums and many people are having the same problem, yet no solutions have been offered.
Up until about a month ago (maybe less), Windows Live Mobile was synching and pushing emails just fine. Something has changed. Its not my GPRS connection as I have tested the same with Wifi. Its not my ROM as I have reflashed and even tried others.
By the way im using a HTC Touch.
CAN ANYONE HELP?!
OH COME ON!
I KNOW im not the only one with this problem..
Im bumping this because quite frankly it IS a serious issue that DOES NOT deseve to be ignored.
bump again
Same issue on Samsung i760
I've got the same issue with Windows Live (.0066 version) on VZW Samsung i760. Push works for about a day after removing account from PDA and re-installing, but then stops and despite the "As items arrive" setting, I have to manually sync. And even the manual only works 1/3 of the time. Very frustrating.
I have the same bloody annoying issue !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUMP. Come one people! I know others have this problem. Why hasnt it been addressed?
Well, maybe because:
1) We can't DO anything about it. If it's a problem as you described, then it's a problem in WLM itself.
2) Maybe not many here are actually having this problem? I know I'm not.
Constant bumping isn't going to help any.

Better I bump this thread then we continue with the countless other threads where other individuals report the same problem but are ignored.
This really needs to be addressed, or at the very least acknowledged.
Same Problem
worked 100% on one of the many WM6 roms out for the Tytn. Upgraded to the Tytn II and WLM fails to sync more than it works!!!

Well, there's very little anyone here can actually DO about it. Have you submitted a bug report to Microsoft? Have you checked in the appropriate Microsoft newsgroups to see if they're aware of it? Have you POSTED in the appropriate Microsoft newsgroups to find out if they're aware of it?
i think it's device/rom dependent as well. i had nightmares with this issue on most of the prophet wm6's, but now i'm using an artemis, with meschle's 3.0, and so far it seems to be working fine. maybe someone can do a poll or something...
Same issue, and yes this needs some attention
I have been experiencing all the same issues on my Tilt/Kaiser. I have tried various ROMs and different versions of WL but the problems persist. Most notably is that Push Email does NOT work. I also experience multiple sync errors daily.
This is a major problem for me as I am currently relying on Hotmail as my primary email account.
Funny thing is WL worked great on my Hermes, but I have not retested since switching to the Tilt over a month ago.
Does anyone have WL Push email working correctly on a Kaiser?
Conversation with Windows Live Mobile Tech support
Sorry for posting this in a few different places, but I am getting really frustrated with my Windows Live Mail not working corretly on my Tilt and I decided to contact MS Tech support to see if there was anything they could recommend.
Below is the convo that I had back and forth with the Support Rep.
Windows Live Push email does not work on my HTC Kaiser Tytn II device.
In order for my Live Hotmail email to sync I have to manually initiate a sync, even though my settings are configured to deliver emails As items arrive. I have tried changing these settings around several times, but it does not make a difference.
Furthermore I receive multiple sync errors often, and most of the times when I delete an email on my device it fails to delete off the server.
I did not have these problems using Windows Live with my HTC Hermes Tytn running Windows Mobile 6.
I have also tried signing out of the Windows Live app and then signing in. I have Hard Reset my device (back to manufacturer default) and still experience the problems. I have also tried with NO 3rd party programs installed and still the push email does not sync correctly.
I have also tried different versions of the Windows Live app that are floating around the internet, such as 10.6.32.2100 and 10.6.33.600. Neither of these newer builds fixed my problem.
Is there a way to fix the issues I am having with Windows Live App push email functionality on the HTC Kaiser Tytn II?
RESPONSE 1
Thank you for contacting Windows Live Mobile Technical Support. My name is Teddy and I understand that you have issues synching your Live Hotmail on your HTC Kaiser Tytn II device. I apologize for the inconvenience. I appreciate the time you have taken to advise us of your experiences and I hope to offer as much assistance as possible.>
We have received reports from other customers experiencing similar contacts synchronization issues. Based on our investigation, this issue occurs when the Windows Live application in the device is having trouble synchronizing with the Messenger servers.
They were able to resolve this issue by doing the steps below:
A. Changing your saved Windows Live Messenger display picture.
Errors appear during synchronization when the server is experiencing difficulty fetching your saved Messenger display picture. To avoid this from happening, let's try to change your display picture to a default picture. To do this:
1. Sign in to Windows Live Messenger using a computer.
2. Change your display picture to a default picture.
3. Try to sign again on your mobile device.
B. Re-synchronize your account.
You may also need to reset your Windows Live account on your Windows Mobile-powered device by signing out and signing in again. To sign out, please refer to the instructions below:
1. On your mobile device, tap "Start" and then select "Windows Live."
2. Tap "Menu" and then "Account Options."
3. Tap "Switch account."
4. You will be prompted to confirm account switching as this action will sign you out of Windows Live, preventing you from seeing your e-mail inbox. Tap "Yes" to continue.
5. You shall be redirected to the Terms of Use screen, an indication that you are already signed out of Windows Live.
To sign back in:
1. Tap "Start" and then select "Windows Live."
3. Tap "Sign in to Windows Live."
4. Tap "Accept" on the Windows Live Terms of Use screen.
5. Enter your MSN or Hotmail e-mail address and its corresponding password.
6. Tap "Next."
7. Choose if you wish to have the Live Search bar or Windows Live services on your device's "Today" screen and tap "Next."
8. Choose of you wish to sync either Contacts and Messenger contact or e-mail (or both) with your mobile device then tap "Next" to continue.
9. Wait as your mobile device syncs with your Windows Live account. Tap "Done" when sync is complete.
10. Open Windows Live Messenger and check if your online contacts now appear as online.
The steps above should help you fix this problem. If the issue persists, we want to continue assisting you until this is resolved.

Trying both A and B above fixed the issue... until I did a soft reset. Then the same problems returned. So I emailed again and got the below response.
I performed the steps listed in A and B of your email (Changed Display Picture and Switch Accounts). I changed my messenger display picture to No Display Picture and signed out of Windows Live on my Tytn II and then soft reset the phone. After the phone rebooted I signed back into Windows Live.
At first this did seem to fix the problem. All of my emails started coming through (at Push speeds) and I did not encounter any sync errors. However, after I performed a soft reset on the phone, all of my problems started again. Windows Live would show sync status stuck on "Checking Internet Connectivity" even though I have network coverage and can browse the web via PIE. I would have to manually click on the sync button to get syncing started. Emails stopped coming through as push (even though I have delivery set to "As items arrive") and I started receiving sync errors again.
Below are the answers to the questions you asked.
- HTC Tytn II
- Windows Mobile 6
- Carrier: At&t Location: I am in the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area - zip 76262
- *****@hotmail.com
- yes it happens on any Windows Live account
- currently the version of Windows Live on my device is 10.6.33.600, although I have tried the original build (can't remember #) that came on my device along with build 10.6.32.2100. All versions have had the same problem on my device.
I appreciate your help and look forward to hearing a solution to this issue. I pay the $19.99/year fee for premium Hotmail/Live mail features and use this email as my primary email and contact manager. I really need this program to work on my device.

So at least MS is aware of the problem and hopefully a newer build of WL will leak onto these boards soon that includes a fix.

How'd you get windows live on the vzw Samsung i760? I'm trying to find it and can't. Was it included with your phone? Wasn't with mine. perhaps this bug is why.

Change HTC Exchange Integration Device Type

Anyone know where the Device Type is kept for HTC's Exchange stuff?
Currently it sends my device over to the Active Exchange network as "HTCHero" I'd prefer if it did not do this. I'd like it to present itself as a more secure device like... 'iPhone'
Right now I'm using TouchDown Pro and it will do this for me... and for the most part I like touchdown except that it's horribly ugly. I'd like the ability to use the phone's exchange integration again if I felt like going back.
Not sure if your Hero is rooted yet, but if it is, someone could probably baksmali/smali the .apk and change the activesync device string it returns.
I can't get mine to even link up with my gmail account.
You know what you are suppose to put when it asks you for the domain and server info?
With out starting a new thread here, and on the topic of exchage. Does anyone know how to remove an email from the device and not the server?? My blackberry gave me the option. Maybe a "Download a Copy" setting?
I have this posted in 3 other forums and no one is responding.

New Member...Mytouch 4G Exchange Email Problems

First off I want to say Merry Christmas to everyone....I need help and since Tmobile is almost in possible to reach anymore I turned to the forums...I got my Mytouch 4G when it first came out and I love it!!!! First phone I ever had with NO LAG at all...But I cant send emails with the Exchange Email program? I heard everyone is having this problem? Does anyone have a fix for this yet? PLEASE PLEASE help !!!!...
Thanks, Ken
My Exchange ActiveSync account works fine here and has since I got the phone a few days after release. I also use EAS for my Google Apps account on my MT4G.
What happens when you try to send? Do you get some sort of error, or does the email sit in your outbox, or get saved to drafts?
Likely it's a problem with the Exchange settings on your phone or your organization's Exchange configuration. Best bet would be to talk to your Exchange admin.
When I send an email it doesnt show in my sent box or my outbox it just disappears from my phone and it never reaches the person im sending it to..I heard HTC knows of the problem but I called there and got no help like they didnt know anything about it...I heard its something to do with the Active Exchange 2010...I guess the Iphones had the same like problem but Apple fixed it already..I can do anything with the email except SEND.....Sucks bad cause i need it for work
Oh man, I forgot about that bug...I had a couple clients whose iPhones didn't work with their Exchange servers until iOS 4.1 was released.
I just tested with an Exchange 2010 server and am experiencing the same issue as you. As far as I can tell, there are 2 workarounds, one you can implement and one your Exchange admin can implement:
1) Install the default Google email app from 2.2. It works properly with Exchange 2010. You will lose search capability for your Exchange mailbox(es) with this, though. Here's a thread where someone posted the apk. I tested it out and it works for me:

Alternatively, you could pay for and install the Touchdown app from the market. Personally, I'm not a big fan of it.
2) Your exchange admin can create a new EAS policy for you (it can be exactly the same as the default if that's what is being used):

Please note that I attempted this with the 2010 testbed server I have access to and it did not work. However, this server does not have Exchange 2010 SP1 installed. I can't install the SP to this VM until my coworker is done using it for testing, so I can't tell you if this workaround works properly for our devices.
Good luck...sorry for doubting you, I forgot I was still using my phone with 07 servers.
Thats more than a bug....lol...But Thank you I will look into this

Server requires unsupported security features

Hi,
I have a xperia play............
Was hoping the 2.3.3 release would have fixed these issues, alas no.
Are there enlightened people out there that know a way for the stock email and calendar apps to sync with exchange servers that insist on password certificates. I work for a blue chip company and these type of certificates are common place.
Basically our exchange servers only will allow sync if I place a secure password on my device i.e. 9 letters long with symbols and numbers. After 9 failed attempts it wil delete all the mails and contacts on the phone. fair enough.
The messge states "Set up could not finish.... Server requires unsupported security features"
Why in the modern world does android not allow this? My IPhone 3gs / Iphone 4 had no issues accepting, neither do Windows based phones.
The only work around is Moxier mail which kills my phones battery within hours.
Please, is there any way around this problem?
Thanks in advance
Neil
I have this same problem!!
