I mean Samsung would not do this for us.
I think I'm strictly HTC and LG now. And yes I know this is not a&d butt its cool too see a company like LG do this.
Tmo being open to side loading. This has potential to be a great device.

lg will definitely make a name for themselves by doing this
but also remember this is 2.2 source not 2.3 i believe.
2.3 update should be very soon hopefully they dont make u wait forever for that source

It almost seems this2.2 was a place holder. I'm thinking 2.3 very soon.

[Q] Galaxy S Vibrant Music App source code

I was looking at the Vibrant source code and I could not find the source for the music player. I downloaded the firmware source code from Samsung's website but could not find the music app in it. Does anyone know where it is?
Download bloater. Its in most of vibrant roms and its also a paid app in the market. It brings back bloat ware on jfd. Really useful!

He's asking about the source code, not the apk.
AFAIK Samsung has only released what they're obligated to under GPL - ie. the modifications they've made to existing open source software governed by the license. The music player is part of the Touchwiz framework, which is Samsung's proprietary code, and is not open sourced. Similar to HTC only releasing kernel code, and not the code behind Sense.

Gingerbread?

Devs,
can the version for captivate possibly be ported?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
Not without the source code. Rumors have it that the canadian version of our infuse will have gb installed. There should be an official release for us but who knows how long...
another one of these threads?
I'm just saying. I thought we had the source finally?? Or do you mean source for gb

there are sources for i9000 2.3.3 and for the infuse 2.2.1 but the two os's are very different in a few areas, it took months to port 2.3.x from the nexus s with nearely identical hardware to work on the i9000, now we have a diferent gps, different cell radio, different cameras, different screen, mhl and more ram, maybe more. that is alot of drivers to figure out. there is a posibility here but it would be a project that needs attention from an experienced kernel dev or dev team and time. the 2.3.x update will likely be released by the time a rom port is posible, plus a port would likely leave some features missing like mhl, and some features that may be unstable.
These threads are such a drag man. Use the search button before you open another thread please. Ugg ...

[DEV] Request: Compile Hush App

I apologize if this is the wrong place for this but it seems like it could use some eyes on it. Read about this on a couple sites today. Sounds like a smart app that shuts down background processes to gain battery life. Article: http://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/rele...martphone-battery-drain-from-faulty-apps.html
It looks like the code is available on Github, and can be compiled, they just haven't released an app yet. I would do it myself, but that's way above my pay grade. Here's the Github link: https://github.com/hushnymous
Was just wanting to see if someone could toy around with it. Cheers!

From my understanding it has to be baked into a ROM, it can't be an app.
I'ts a ROM Patch, so we cant use it
My apologies if I was mistaken, I can't remember what site I was reading that said you could compile the code into an app. I guess we'll just have to wait, unless some of the ROM devs get adventurous.

The code in this source looks extremely old.
Yea this is their github avatar

It's not a standalone app atm
