[DEV] Request: Compile Hush App - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I apologize if this is the wrong place for this but it seems like it could use some eyes on it. Read about this on a couple sites today. Sounds like a smart app that shuts down background processes to gain battery life. Article: http://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/rele...martphone-battery-drain-from-faulty-apps.html
It looks like the code is available on Github, and can be compiled, they just haven't released an app yet. I would do it myself, but that's way above my pay grade. Here's the Github link: https://github.com/hushnymous
Was just wanting to see if someone could toy around with it. Cheers!

From my understanding it has to be baked into a ROM, it can't be an app.

I'ts a ROM Patch, so we cant use it

My apologies if I was mistaken, I can't remember what site I was reading that said you could compile the code into an app. I guess we'll just have to wait, unless some of the ROM devs get adventurous.

The code in this source looks extremely old.

Yea this is their github avatar

It's not a standalone app atm

[Q] XDA-market

Can't we make our own market for all the android apps that are on this forum. Where every XDA member could post their own apps. Something like a 'XDA-market' or something like that.
Or is this bad for androids own market?
Tbo-art
Sounds like a good idea, a lot of work for the server and a robust client however. But this would be good for the small things that change a lot, plus insulates small devs from a dev fee from Google for small apps they don't see as having a heavy distribution or such.
what would the advantage of XDA market be, over the other markets, like MobiHand, GetJar etc. ?

You could put in only XDA members apps and also rom's without searching the hole forum for it. And you can restrict it for developers only. That way they can work easily with developers only. It would be easier to get beta testers this way.
WOW! I think this is an awesome idea, I can't believe no one has done this already, we have some talented devs here that do ALOT of stuff that they only release for XDA members. I would love to see this happen, having all XDA apps AND roms in one "market" specifically for XDA members and devs, I say add a poll to this thread OP, lets see how many of us would use this
it's a great idea! I'ld like to contribute to this project.
Rather than a separate market, how about a forum where the *only* threads allowed contain links to these xda apps. Comments can either be allowed in those threads, or have separate comment threads elsewhere. This would take a lot less development, though slightly more moderation perhaps.

i'm ok with this it will be nice to have a place to find app another then the appbrain or market
There is just one problem. I need someone that can make it because I can't. It was just an idea that I had. So I've someone can do that I would be very happy.

This a great idea.
Why don't you make contact with the developers and do something.
I mean we all love talking about our favorite apps.
And what we think is good.
If they do come out with this it would be amazing.

Awesome............... Can those other repos be, um, disabled, not shown for potential XDA apps usage? Clearly wouldn't want XDA just being "one of many" repos there, the many being all warez.

How can I change the JellyBean lockscreen?

Ok so I have the X-TremE CM10 1.5 Pure ROM on my Samsung Galaxy SII but the loclscreen is different than it should be, the icon that looks like a lock is replaced by some kind of dragon .. i've gone through all the settings a few times but I can't find out how .. I guess some place in the framework.
Can you ease tell me how to do this? And be specific because i'm a huge noob ...
I'll put a screenshot of how to lockscreen looks right now.
Thanks!

Have you tried widget locker lockscreen? Its a paid app ($3 US)definitely worth purchasing if you find yourself tinkering a bunch though.

Discussing pirated apps is not allowed here on xda. The widgetlocker developer is actually a member here.
@OP I suggest asking in the ROM thread since this is very ROM specific and it looks like the dev added it in himself. Otherwise, unless you are completely glued to this one ROM I'm sure there's another JB ROM without this dragon.
(Personally though, it looks pretty bad ass. I'd love it if it were my phone)

I apologize I never said pirated, bootleg or anything to infer that. furthermore I did encourage paying for the app. This attitude is why I have now 11 posts in nearly a year but in other Kernel specific forums I have hundreds a month. Gonna mind my own business and take what I bring to the table elsewhere.

You cannot get it officially outside of the Google Play store, unless its directly from TeslaCoil himself. When you download a paid app for free on another site, that is pirating.
If I said took this guys iPhone and sold it, isn't that stealing? But no I didn't say anything to infer that.

Please tell me isn't there anything I can replace in the framework files? What's the name of the lockscreen file?

maybe some problem at rom... have u tried a new rom?

[BOUNTY] Root SW2 Custom Rom

I didn't get the Galaxy Gear because I am not very proud of it's battery life, but if there is one thing that i'm really jealous of is their ability to root and have custom ROMs. I'm just starting to learn development and it might take me some time to get to the point where i can create a root for a new device, but i'm ready to pay somebody to do it for me.
What i would like to be achieved is a custom rom that allows us to rearrange icons, change the Bluetooth icon color, because when the phone disconnects and the icon grays out, there is not much of a difference. Something that allows us to have custom clocks with weather, or a notification badge, or other stuff that this watch lacks and that could be fairly easily implemented by Sony. I am aware that there are some limitations to Sony SDK and due to poor LCD resolution, but something is better than nothing. All i'm saying is i'm not expecting CM11 on this
I pledge 25$ to the cause
Bounty now at: 25$

no, but thats not the point. The watch is tethered to a phone thats running android and that can push information to the watch. The gear has some custom OS is possibly based on android 4.2, i'm sure the SW2 is not so far from that either
I'm not nerdy enough yet to confirm if this is possible, but i'm sure there is something we can do
Yes the gear actually runs android and can run apps natively. Thats the whole reason you see a custom rom. the gear is no where near that capable and doesn't have the luxury of already having an android base.

I'm sure there is something we can do regardless of what OS it's running

Thanks To be honest - I am little bit afraid about HW capacity required for running Android. On the other side - I see enough space for SW optimization. If I compare it to old fashioned PalmOS devices.

There is no way on this planet i am donating even a penny to a dev that has an app called "i am rich" that cost 200$ which does nothing except steal money away from people. I do not trust some weirdo that has no reputable work and claims he can port android to a smartwatch... Especially if you check out the poor coding skills he uses for his other apps. This guy is a hustler, i can teach my grand mom to code a better app using eclipse than him

I emailed the dev of this app. Seems like a scam sadly enough. Was looking if they would post any type of progress thread or link any info as to what they had accomplished up til now. They replied with an muddy response stating their progress had been stalled but they would surely still accept a donation *surprise, surprise* and linked their bitcoin address. Seems shady to me. Be wise

The Smartwatch can not and will never run a full Android since it uses a microcontroller cpu that is not made for this kind of usecase (ARM Cortex-M3 at least in the smartwatch 1 not sure which CPU is used in the Smartwatch 2 but i suppose it uses the same or similar cpu)
I reported this Donation app to google. Not sure if they agree with me that this is fraud but it is very obvious.
Everyone who researches a bit would know that it is impossible.
the 200$ app however i think i can't report since they deliver exactly what they write. nothing but a expensive app that does nothing.

Hey you can show that you are rich to your friends with that app or the biggest idiot in the universe :/

Has there any case of devs gone rouge?

Just wondering, in the history of the forum has there ever been any developers that has gone rogue and put malware into their kernels or roms?

not that im aware of. but there are so many different devices on xda, and xda has been around a long time..
All of them, they all secretly spy on you through the front camera.... They're watching you right now!!
AaaaaaaaaHHHH!!!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Ya know... I have often wondered about that. Even for open source apps, what's preventing a dev from publishing an apk with malware, while making malware-free source code available? Most folks won't bother compiling and will just install the provided apk.
Scary, yeah..
There are enough smart people on xda who like to poke around at things. If there were malware in anything it would be found pretty fast and the community alerted.

GITHUB?

Hey all of you Devs, RC's, and so forth...
I plan to start using GITHUB, but I am currently trying to build a list of possible Google play apps that will work like GITHUB, and/or any third party apps. This is so I can work on repos from my device when I am not by a computer.
So if any of you know of one that works for you, please, post about it here so I may be able to check it out.
Thanks

Ok, for you git users out there. I have narrowed it down to two apps for android. These apps will allow you to use git from your phone for times when you are not by a pc. The first one is called SGit. This app is pretty legit. It is also open source (that means java, c, and so on). Works really well, but my only problem with it is that it does not give options for working with branches whether you are trying to create, merge, checkout, etc. However, been looking at the source and its apparent that those options are being added so I look forward to the update.
The other app is called AIDE. This app is mainly for building apks from your device, but due to its wide diversity you can pretty much use this app for a wide variety of projects. It comes with git built in and features A LOT of git commands with a pretty slick gui. The ONLY problem with that app is you will NOT be able to use git with AIDE like you want to unless you purchase the apps premium key from the play store which is currently selling for $9.99 U.S. dollars. As it stands these two apps are best fitted when working on repos.
I currently have both on my device and I plan to keep both.
