GITHUB? - HTC One SV

Hey all of you Devs, RC's, and so forth...
I plan to start using GITHUB, but I am currently trying to build a list of possible Google play apps that will work like GITHUB, and/or any third party apps. This is so I can work on repos from my device when I am not by a computer.
So if any of you know of one that works for you, please, post about it here so I may be able to check it out.
Thanks

Hmmm... I was unaware they had an app... I knew it would be a good thing to open this thread haha. Thanks, much appreciated. Getting ready to check it out now.

That app won't suffice for me. Seems it is mainly to view/read. Thanks anyways @palmtree5.

Found something i am looking for. Will suffice for now. But plan to keep my eyes open for anything else.

Ok, for you git users out there. I have narrowed it down to two apps for android. These apps will allow you to use git from your phone for times when you are not by a pc. The first one is called SGit. This app is pretty legit. It is also open source (that means java, c, and so on). Works really well, but my only problem with it is that it does not give options for working with branches whether you are trying to create, merge, checkout, etc. However, been looking at the source and its apparent that those options are being added so I look forward to the update.
The other app is called AIDE. This app is mainly for building apks from your device, but due to its wide diversity you can pretty much use this app for a wide variety of projects. It comes with git built in and features A LOT of git commands with a pretty slick gui. The ONLY problem with that app is you will NOT be able to use git with AIDE like you want to unless you purchase the apps premium key from the play store which is currently selling for $9.99 U.S. dollars. As it stands these two apps are best fitted when working on repos.
I currently have both on my device and I plan to keep both.

XDA Forum Application

Looking for three or four people to test the new XDA Andriod application. It is mostly fully functional (reading, posting, PMs, etc.).
It will be free for the community soon, but if you want to be one of the first to try it, send me a PM with your email address.
I will edit this post once I have enough people.
EDIT: Have enough testers for now. Thanks for the help.
Testing.

Works great
But would it be possible to have only defined sub forums, show up under the latest tab?
Or maybe it would be possible to split android and windows?
And what about search?

More than 10 post per page had also been nice

Except for the known forum titles cut off bug, everything seems to work great on my Nexus as well.
Thanks

Really looking forward to this app! I find it weird that xda-developers doesn't have a mobile version of their forum, this app will solve that problem nicely I hope.

Any updates on the availability of this app? It's sorely needed... Or at the very least, it'd be great if XDA created a mobile version of the site. Browsing on a mobile phone, while possible, is a pretty painful experience. In any case, thanks for working on the app. I can't wait to give it a try!

It may be locked to a particular version. I don't have a Sapphire anymore (1.5) so I cannot check; in any case it's useless without decent forums on there I'm sure soon XDA will be available. I'm heading out but worst case I can send you the APK to try and see if it'll work.

[Q] XDA-market

Can't we make our own market for all the android apps that are on this forum. Where every XDA member could post their own apps. Something like a 'XDA-market' or something like that.
Or is this bad for androids own market?
Tbo-art
Sounds like a good idea, a lot of work for the server and a robust client however. But this would be good for the small things that change a lot, plus insulates small devs from a dev fee from Google for small apps they don't see as having a heavy distribution or such.
what would the advantage of XDA market be, over the other markets, like MobiHand, GetJar etc. ?

You could put in only XDA members apps and also rom's without searching the hole forum for it. And you can restrict it for developers only. That way they can work easily with developers only. It would be easier to get beta testers this way.
WOW! I think this is an awesome idea, I can't believe no one has done this already, we have some talented devs here that do ALOT of stuff that they only release for XDA members. I would love to see this happen, having all XDA apps AND roms in one "market" specifically for XDA members and devs, I say add a poll to this thread OP, lets see how many of us would use this
it's a great idea! I'ld like to contribute to this project.
Rather than a separate market, how about a forum where the *only* threads allowed contain links to these xda apps. Comments can either be allowed in those threads, or have separate comment threads elsewhere. This would take a lot less development, though slightly more moderation perhaps.

Awesome............... Can those other repos be, um, disabled, not shown for potential XDA apps usage? Clearly wouldn't want XDA just being "one of many" repos there, the many being all warez.

[PROGRAMMING] Learn C, Build a rom

Ever want to learn C? Want to build a rom too?? Well this thread will then be for you! I have combined learning C with building a rom in a small little program that is sent to github and well committed. The best part is, you the learner, will have the ability to submit additions you do to the program with your new C skills and have it published right here in this thread with your name! Cool right?
So first things first, you have to git clone the source
just run the command below
Code:
git clone git://github.com/simonsickle/build_helper.git
Now, learn C and have fun. There are tutorials here that are teaching C here on xda, and this provides real life working WARNING free examples. It shows you how make files work, linking objects with the linker to get one bianary (like the kernel) and how to make code available to other built in files. It also shows you how to use an include/ directory.
if you submit code, please post a patch here with the purpose (for learning purposes) this can be done by running
Code:
diff -rupN unchangedfoldername/ folderwithmychanges/ > mychange.patch
in turn, patches can be applied with
Code:
cd mycodedir/
patch -p1 < /location/of/patch/patchname.patch
Any suggestions are welcome, as well as all discussion. Eventually I want to teach you how to compile this code on the NDK and use a library to build ssh support in so you could ssh to a build server and run the scripts from your phone.
Wow this is a really nice idea, I hear from so many people who want to learn but get overwhelmed. This guides people over that hump. This is what the android community should be all about.

Exactly the point. I want to encourage development as it is a passion in my life! Some guys love playing football, I love creating things from scratch. It is like an art to me, It comes from how i feel, what I want to do. What needs to be changed in the world. Coding can change everything in the world, with a simple language such as C or as complex as ASM. Without programmers, tinkers hackers, and passionate hobbiers where would the human race be? Back in the 50's with the cool cars that ran on led fuel. Now, lets go forward, and innovate with an open source license so no one can litigate
I will take a look at this Thanks.

Most of the low-level programming is similar between Windows/Linux. It's when you get into GUI programming is when things get strange and complicated. But as the OP states, you cannot build Android on Windows. Hint: ( dual boot )

Also I have to ask. I've wanted to develop a graphics focused ROM. Are most of the graphics in a ROM pictures or code (as HTML can make pretty convincing graphics with text)? I'm a graphic designer and want to make a ROM no ones ever seen before. Not just a theme but a totally redesigned UI. Something revolutionary.

OK so I found a tutorial on YouTube surrounding the jist of the problem... Its a tutorial on how to install Ubuntu on a raid 0 array... According to this video I need to have 2 hard drives. Is there a way I can just partition? I don't have 2 hard drives unfortunately and I don't wanna result to using my really slow laptop lol. Although I could probably just take a hard drive it of one of my older computers and put it in one of my other bays.

Ya know... I have often wondered about that. Even for open source apps, what's preventing a dev from publishing an apk with malware, while making malware-free source code available? Most folks won't bother compiling and will just install the provided apk.
Scary, yeah..
There are enough smart people on xda who like to poke around at things. If there were malware in anything it would be found pretty fast and the community alerted.

[DEV] Request: Compile Hush App

I apologize if this is the wrong place for this but it seems like it could use some eyes on it. Read about this on a couple sites today. Sounds like a smart app that shuts down background processes to gain battery life. Article: http://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/rele...martphone-battery-drain-from-faulty-apps.html
It looks like the code is available on Github, and can be compiled, they just haven't released an app yet. I would do it myself, but that's way above my pay grade. Here's the Github link: https://github.com/hushnymous
Was just wanting to see if someone could toy around with it. Cheers!

From my understanding it has to be baked into a ROM, it can't be an app.
I'ts a ROM Patch, so we cant use it
My apologies if I was mistaken, I can't remember what site I was reading that said you could compile the code into an app. I guess we'll just have to wait, unless some of the ROM devs get adventurous.
