[Q] Viewsonic "birds" logo screen no longer appears - G Tablet General

I have been in the process of working on my G Tablet this afternoon, when it slipped from my lap and hit the carpet with the smallest amount of force. Now when I boot it, the Viewsonic "birds" logo no longer appears, and it will also not boot into recovery (Vol Up + Power). It does print recovery button in top left, but no birds load, and it continues to load my Cyanogen Install without the ability to go into Recovery Mode. I also cannot get to Recovery mode from the Cyan reboot menu.

I think my unit has halfway bitten the dust, and I might be making a trip to Sears. Has anyone else experience this problem?

You are going to mod a tablet, then drop the tablet, then take it back to Sears? Wow! No wonder everything we buy nowadays costs so much...
Why not try to do an Nvflash restore first?

I have no idea what happened to cause your tablet to do that but there are no moving parts inside.

I was a bit haste in my original statement, as returning this to Sears in any way is not my first option. I need a functional unit, and what has occurred does not appear to be a result of flashing.
However, I am taking your suggestion and performing a full nvflash now.

I feel embarrased, and I shall wear the dunce hat.
Performing the nvflash as linked here fixed the issue.
Thanks.

Excellent! I am glad you kept it, and glad it is fixed

[Q] Stuck in NvFlash mode, can't turn tablet off

Alright so I got the tablet yesterday and I've been hacking it ever since.
Here's what happened:
Booted into NvFlash mode, flashed a custom recovery, everything went fine. However, when I tried to turn the tablet off after the flash, it refused to do so.
Now it's just stuck on the "Entering NvFlash recovery mode / Nv3p Server" screen and I can't for the life of me get the damn thing to turn off.
My PC still recognizes it over usb, but when I try to do anything with nvflash, it hangs on "Nvflash started".
Any ideas apart from letting the battery drain and trying again? This is barely using any power so it's gonna take a looooooong time for that to happen.
Never had this issue, but yes you might have to let the battery drain if its stuck in APX mode and cannot get out. It will take about 24 hours - I know this because I had to do this once.
Is it possible that the power button is stuck?

Nope, I've pressed it a million times already.
If it's not off by the morning I'm taking it back to Office Depot and saying that I tried to install the update for the stock OS and this happened. Just hope nobody there knows anything about custom ROMs.
There is a reset button inside that may help. Because some genius designed this thing the back cover has to come off to get to it though. Only 4 screws, and a couple clips around the cover.
True, but for most people letting the battery drain might be a better solution. It is a bit difficult to get the back off as there are clamps inside the device, kinda like an iPod. And of course you will void your warranty. I actually destroyed a few iPod prying tools getting my back case off.
Someone here actually drilled a hole in the back of their device to get to the reset hole. That's actually not a bad idea, if you don't have any plans on ever returning the device.
Everytime my device hangs I hold down the power button for 10 seconds and it turns off. Did you try that?

Haha! I think those things self destruct as soon as they come from the package. I like the thick guitar picks better when I am trying to break... I mean fix... stuff
Anyone have an update? Mine is stuck also. if I rerun nvflash on pc it boots it back up but everytime i turn it off it goes back to apx mode/black screen.
I had this problem, but I had downloaded the wrong version of the NVflash. Try the other one in the Dropbox and reflash.
As for the stuck in the APX mode, I was there too, but I just held the Power button until turned off, re-entered in APX mode, and reflashed.

[Q] Liquid Thunderbolt Problem

Hello. First and foremost i am noob, but i fee like i've given this site a fair scrub for my situation and i haven't found anyone in a similar situation. I have an htc thunderbolt, I am not sure about any of the software versions, but i am on verizons network. I recently rooted my phone. The rooting process went fine. I then went on to install the latest version of liquid thunderbolt using rom manager. The install seemed to go fine. IT go to the point where a graphic loaded on the screen. I think its the liquid thunderbolt loading graphic. It's like this vortex-like thing with a bunch of lightening in the middle and then a water drop surrounded by lightening. Either way it's been stuck on this screen for the past 4 hours. What should i do? Is my phone what htey call bricked? If so can i recover from it? Should i just yank out the batter?! PLEASE HELP!
What you are describing is happening to me right now as well. Have you found out any new information. btw My tb has been rooted for 4 months with no troubles. last night i put clockwork mod/rom manager on it went through the process step by step then selected a new rom I think it was from liquid thunder. Now no mater what i do the phone boots up to the htc screen and then to rotating screens just like you described. that's it nothing else. it will not power off without to pulling the battery. i have pulled the sd card. it will not boot into hboot. press down vol. then the power.
thanks,
Jarrad
Hi, this is Jarrad's wife and I have fixed his phone. I was asleep last night when he did this to his phone and he has been up all night working on it. He even went as far as to make me breakfast in bed in order to soften the blow I guess with regard to the information he was about to tell me about his brand new very expensive phone, since he knew it would piss me off. So anyway he had the phone off for about an hour and a half on the charger and stopped messing with it. After he told me his story of what he did to the phone I decided to take a look at it. He told me that when you go into recovery you push and hold the power button and the volume down button at the same time but, this is not true or at least its not what I did to get him to the recovery screen. I was going to turn it on but, forgot he said it had a problem, so after holding down the power button ALONE for about 5 seconds I then pushed the volume down button and held them both together and boom the recovery screen came up. Now it was not a fluke because he then used the wrong recovery option and locked it up again. So, again a pressed the power button ALONE for about 5 seconds and then added the pressing of the volume down control button and boom back to the recovery screen. I hope this works for you the way it worked for me. Good Luck.

[Q] Boot Loop on MIUI

Hello again trusted XDA Gurus!
Out of the blue my Infuse, which had been slowly going crackers for reasons unexplained, has decided to go into a complete boot loop on me. I'm running an MIUI port (2.3.7 if I recall correctly) and had a few glitches with booting up once in a while, especially when the battery was dry.
But now it's STUCK. Nothing I do seems to get it out of loop. Left it 30 minutes plugged in hoping it would get enough charge to do something, and still looping. Can't go to download mode, not recovery, with any and all button/battery/cable combination I know.
The device doesn't even trigger the USB ports on my Mac or PC so I am, literally, at a loss.
I'm not super fond of this phone; has been crashing a lot on most ROMs I tried and consider useful (no crash on stock ROM so I exclude defects), and quite honestly I just need a few pictures off the internal memory and it's back to stock, straight to eBay.
Just need help to get it out of this dang loop!
Thanks in advance.
ts
Ok, I finally got it working by a stretch of luck (getting it in Download mode) and GTG+Odin.

Can I close it myself? I might have missed it...
you can't but there is a triangle icon in the upper right hand corner - report to moderator.
Did you do anything to get it into download mode or was it truly just luck? I'm stuck in a boot loop as well..

To be honest I'm not 100% sure, but to get into download I had to follow a very specific sequence, and on my third try it worked. Here is what I did:
Remove battery, unplug USB, take out SIM and SD card (power should be off at this point obviously). Hold down volume up/down (but NOT power), and while holding down plug USB, then still while holding the buttons insert battery.
Hope this helps!

[Q] Transformer stuck in APX mode. Help!

Hi guy,
i can't turn on my TF. It's full battery. I try press all kind of buttons but still not working. When i plug my TF in my Laptop screen still black but when i press the power button (only power button, not vol-up + power button) for 5s my laptop found a device name "APX". If i press the power button 5s again, it's disconnect from the laptop but after 2s it's auto-connect again as a "APX".
Please help me, this tablet not mine, a friend give it to me to help him install some apps, he'll kill me if he know i killed his TF.
Thanks,
Update: I forgot to tell you guy how i get into this sh*t. Ok, here we go.
Last night, i'm in CWM recovery to flash new ICS ROM. after flash the rom i went to the "Advanced setting" -> "some things about SDcard but i don't remenber what is it". In there i saw many choise like "unmount system, mount cache, mount data, format system, format data, etc." And at the end it's "Back to menu" choise. I choise all the "mount ....." part so it's all changed to "Unmount ......." After that i pull out my microSD (I have no idea why im doing that) When the microSD is pull out, the choise "back to menu" on the list is disappear, so im not able to go back to main menu to reboot. Then i hold the power button to turn it off. After that i press the down volume + power to go to CWM Recovery again, the TF boot up, but this time the TF not show the text say "press volume up in 5s", it show some blue bar running on middle of screen, it happen so quick that i didn't noitice and still hold power when Eeepad logo appear and quickly press volume up (this moment the blue bar appear and running), and screen imidietly go to black since that moment and can't turn on any more.
Step 1: Relax
Step 2: Disconnect from USB
Step 3: Long press the power/lock button for 30 seconds
Step 4: Release the power/lock button
Step 5: Press the power/lock button for 3 seconds and it should power up normally.

Congrats! You're one of a hand full of people who have managed to put their tegra 2 device into a permanent apx bootloop. I've seen this happen across all tegra 2 devices.

Bad new guy, I must pay 235$ for a brand-new mainboard. But the good new is my friend still don't know anything about this.
Where did you have to pay 235$ for a new main board?

Ever since the tegra 2 came out, I've been on and off recieving these permanent apx bootlooped devices from people to fix. So far, I have not been able to find a consistent way to bring them out of permanent apx bootloop. And no, nvflash won't help. Trust me on this.
I'll buy your TF for $100 just to play around with a TF with this condition. Haven't played with a permanent apx bootlooped TF yet. Played with an iconia, gtablet, and a couple other tegra 2 devices with this condition.
Or you could RMA it and see if asus can fix it. Just tell them you woke up one morning and it stopped turning on.

For those unlucky guys (as me ) who also hit the apx boot loop issue: try EasyFlasher.
I tried manually restore my recovery partition and couple of others but was stuck at apx boot loop. Than I found one comment here on forums that suggest use of EasyFlasher. I just give it a try, reflash stock asus and put some recovery on through it and voila, tf101 is unbricked now.

[Q] Stock 4.2.1 Cannot Hard Reset

I have a TF700 running the latest US stock ROM, 4.2.1 I believe. This unit is not rooted or unlocked.
The last few weeks it has been rebooting randomly. In the last day it would boot loop unless I did not plug it into the keyboard dock.
I did a hard reset yesterday using the power and volume down buttons and then it was working better. I did freeze some apps once I got it up.
Today it was dead and quite hot near the top left. I charged it and tried to boot it, but it would not boot. The "Inspiring Innoovation Persistent Perfection" screen appears for a few seconds then disappears.
I was able to get to the menu using the power and volume down buttons and select to wipe it, but again the "Inspiring Innoovation Persistent Perfection" screen appears for a few seconds then disappeared. It is not a boot loop. The unit remains dark after this. I have noticed that after I do this then the tablet appears to be on even though nothing is showing because it gets quite hot at the upper left corner.
Every once in a while when I go through this procedure then the screen turns white or pink at the end instead of going dark.
I have tried to reboot again with the power and down buttons pressed but now I never get the menu to select to wipe the unit. I put the latest US ROM on a fat32 microsd and renamed it to the right file name, but I am not able to ever get the menu where I can select to install it. And yes, I did unzip it, before renaming the resulting zip file.
I have tried power/Volume Down, Power/Volume Up, just power and other combinations, but have not been able to get the menu where I can select to wipe the system or install the rom.
Any idea how to recover the tablet?
Thanks.
Are you still under warranty? I truly hope so.
Because I think this baby is dead!
I am out of warranty.
Is there any way to connect this to a pc and try to reset it remotely?

Being locked you have very few options anyway....
But if you cannot boot to the bootloader (power and volume down), you also cannot access your recovery anymore. And without that there is nothing you can do short of buying a new or used mainboard.
Sorry.....
Asus told me minimum cost to fix would be $ 233 for a new motherboard and at least $ 50 labor. At Woot.com they periodically sell the TF700 refurbished for $ 249 without the keyboard, so it was cheaper to buy one of those. They also have it for $ 299 with keyboard. They are selling these right now until January 20th.
