I started to port the Gingerbread SDK to Desire.
Did some progress already there:

Don't wonder about the "resolution", the LCD Desinty wasn't set, so it was just 0.
At the moment I'm working on get the display driver working.
More progress (hopefully) soon.

Maybe it's possible to use Desire HD LCD desity to get the feel of the SENSE HD Rom on Desire.
I hope we have a testing version soon...
Someone should try porting Gingerbread to the Motorola Milestone too

Wow. Didn't even know it could be done that way
fastboot flash the sdk system.img
fastboot flash a CM 6.1 boot.img
fastboot flash the sdk ramdisk and it boots.

As far as I know, Android is one open source platform.
Now, doesn't that mean that HTC must share it's drivers for different phones?

The Android platform is open source, but the drivers for the HTC hardware are not open source. HTC (Qualcomm as well) has no obligation to release the drivers. We have to wait until they are included in a 2.1 HTC built ROM for the specific device.

Don't understed the reason from HTC. They have nothing to loose if they release drivers for their devices. That will push their sales a lot. But HTC is slow and weird when it comes to software updates and stuff.
does it matter if they give them up?? head over to dream development xda developer NCommander has made a camera driver and released the source.. and eugene373 has already updated his eclair rom!!!

Porting 32A: http://www.mediafire.com/?d4mtvmujemz
downloading now to run on my 32a
is there a thread on that 32a port? i have no intentions of doing anything beyond wiping, flashingx2 and re-booting (no formatting or swap partitions etc) - keen to read some other experiences so i can get it working...
Awesome! I'm with march83 though - is there a thread on this? I'd like some more info before I flash anything to my phone ..
Thanks for sharing
ok, wipe, flash, flash, boot didn't work on my 32a with no partitions. don't have the time or resources to back up my sd card and test it with proper partitions til tonight.
also, i can't find md5s for the downloads anywhere so i can't confirm that i've got valid files. no matter - no harm done, nandroid and my Gyd is back up and running.
can someone who's successfully got this working on a 32a post some details?
cheers
Installed it and it's working I have ext3/linux-swap, get that and you'll be fine ! I never ever flashed any SPL or radio so don't bother.
BTW, that rom is Eclair, not Expresso。
I can't live without HTC's Dialer with smart dial, so I'll have to wait for a stable Expresso port.

Great, work correctly on my Magic Tim Italy but run slow... need to be optimized
I have been compiling the cm7 source and sharing. Gapps and rom boots and work. It is more basic gingerbread aosp then cm7. Cyanogen and teamdouche have been working to get this together and this is more kinda like a nightly
www.crackflashers.com
You will need to flash the new recovery.img to flash/get working gapps.
after flashing gapps, run fix permissions to get gapps to work.
This is cause of cm7 going to ext4 based system unlike older roms that are ext3
The new recovery does make it so you can not use older pre gingerbread roms so find a older recovery to fastboot back to anything like froyo or restore old backups

Hey guys,
I am in the process of trying to build a custom kernel for the incredible S, but as it happens HTC have only released sources for the Froyo version, not the Gingerbread version
In my quests to find the changes need to upgrade this kernel to run on 2.3, I am building a kernel for the Saga,as the Desire S was released with 2.3 the sources should be as well.
Anyway, long story short. I have a custom kernel for the saga, with an overclock available and it is quite easy to port all the other features I have added to my kernel without the video / camera problem (assuming this is the 2.3 source, which it looks like it should be), and I see you don't have any custom kernels, is anyone interested in testing?
hi mate, im developin a custom kernel as we speak but yh wudnt mind testing urs... u use the saga 2.6.35 kernel source code?
Sorry didnt realise someone was already on it. Yeah I am using it cause I think it has the changes I need in the board files, and I accidently overclocked it by editing the wrong files. If.you want I can speak to you about what changes you wanna make so you can start devving it on your own

Well done dude !!! I've been following your quest for root and S-OFF on the IS forum, no one here is trying for S-OFF. Our best bet is someone like you porting an IS or Sensation exploit. I'm S-On so i can't test. But since the saga (DS) and IS have the same processor, i'm assuming this goes up to 1.8 Ghz too. Correct me if i'm wrong.
When will be a download link i will test the kernel.
i was wondering if it will work with a Desire kernel? can i try a desire kernel or is a bad ideea?
i miss cifs
trying a desire kernel is a very bad idea mihaibuda u must wait for a desire s kernel

This one also looks sort off promising.
I've skimmed the thread and it comes down to booting other ROMS (a maximum of 4).
There were 3 files needed, a system.img, a data.img and a cache.img you then just place them in folders and that seemed to do the trick.
I think this is a nice starting point if some devs are actually going to mess around with it.

Perhaps a bit of modding and nandroids can make this a success but hardware can be a limitation
If I'm not mistaking, but please tell me if I do, there was a member in the G3 section who was trying to make a AOSP version of Froyo (so without all the Samsung stuff) and he got stuck at the conversion of a system.img to factory.rfs.
So if someone gets this working, he could continue his project.

HTC Droid Eris\Desire C is the next nearest phone to HTC Explorer after HTC Aria

HTC Wildfire S Port which I refered-- Click Here
HTC Droid Eris\Desire C Port I refered-- Click Here

why you not compile cm7 for your device compile rom bug fix easy then ported rom bug fix

Before you even think about compiling cm7 you need a kernel. You will not get a booting aosp Rom without a working aosp kernel. That needs to be the absolute first step. You can test basic functionality of the kernel by creating a recovery using the kernel. If it boots recovery then you should be at least somewhat good to go on compiling cm7 for it.
